The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

The vast majority of the news reports about this disgusting display of police overreaction focus not on the general (non-race-based) failure of policing in America, but on the race of the security guard who was shot and killed because he was doing his job. I don't have the details, and my impressions may be incorrect, but I doubt it. My guess is that the cops barrelled in, lights and sirens and running down puppies, and jumped out of their cars guns blazing. I do not believe that this poor guy was shot because he was Black; I think he was shot because the cops were out of control and didn't use what little cognitive ability they may have. "Oh look! Guy with gun! Let's shoot him!" Four other people were shot, and it doesn't sound like the bad guy was the one firing, so that means the cops shot five people. Impressive!

The problem now is that "this business is already out of control." Policing in America is broken, and I see no rational solutions being suggested by anybody. BLM wants cops out of Black neighborhoods, and that is moronic beyond belief. Ignoring the fact that most Blacks are not insane...they want the police around...that will not fix the problem. And Whites are killed by cops at approximately the same rates as Blacks, so it's a fallacious argument anyway. But reflexive support for the police is a very shortsighted reaction too. All it does is embolden the crooked or arrogant or power-mad cops who are the lawbreakers, and reinforces the status quo, which is unacceptable.

The thin blue line needs to be discredited, because policing as an occupation is nowhere near the most dangerous one in America. Besides, cops become cops with the understanding that it may get dangerous, and that they may need to go into harm's way. So why is their safety more important than ours? That security guard wanted to go home to his family at the end of his shift, just like the cops who killed him.

Cop fatally shoots security guard at bar in Chicago suburbs

A police officer gunned down an armed black security guard who tried to stop a shooting at a suburban Chicago bar, according to reports Monday.

The 26-year-old guard, Jemel Roberson, had restrained a thug involved in the shooting outside Manny’s Blue Room in Robbins, Ill., after gunfire broke out at 4 a.m. Sunday, according to local station Fox32.

But cops who rushed to the bar mistook the guard for “one of the bad guys,” witness Adam Harris told Fox32.

Maybe in rural America the cops know how to shoot, but in the cities and many of the suburbs they practice far less than many regular folk who go to the range a few times each month. NYPD officers requalify twice each year, and let us be generous and say that the skill required is nothing impressive. Sure, there are lots of cops who take it seriously and are probably fine combat shooters, but they seem to be in the minority. And it isn't just their skill (or lack thereof) with their weapons, it is their ability to evaluate the situation and decide to shoot or not to shoot that seems to be lacking.

But all of this is secondary to the larger issue: the police are not an occupying force; they are not our rulers; they are not all-powerful. They must be held accountable for their failures just like anyone else with a gun, and until that happens we will continue to have a rapidly growing divide between the cops and the rest of us.

******

This is a common theme around here, and it needs to be hammered home in American high schools. Be an electrician or a plumber and make a lot more money and have a marketable skill that will never go out of fashion.

The write-ups I have read said the guy he was holding down was the shooter who was shooting up the other guys and he was disarming him (he was a security guard).

19 Here is my own post mortem on the 2018 campaign.

But for the Herculean efforts of Donald Trump, the GOP would have been wiped out as they offered no coherent message or reason to vote for the party other than tax cuts, which were passed a year ago and are no longer resident in peoples minds and that the Democrat party is unhinged.

I know I have harped on the Jay Webber campaign an I will use his campaign to show how unfocused and undisciplined the general GOP message was this campaign...

My main modes of media consumption are youtube and watching Jeopardy, I have been watching Jeopardy religiously for going on 30 years.

I saw the following Jay Webber ads once each in a 5 month span....

https://tinyurl.com/y8znmofd

https://tinyurl.com/y867wlju

Jay Webber sent very few mailers and the mailers he did send were as ridiculous as the two ads that I linked.

His opponent, Rebbecca Michelle "Mike" Sherril ran numerous ads that appeared each and every commercial break, these are the three ads I saw the most during the same 5 month span, I probably saw these ads 100's of times, compare and contrast...

https://tinyurl.com/yc9qhkfo

https://tinyurl.com/ya98sueo

https://tinyurl.com/ydcfk22r

Jay Webber's big spend seems to have been on signs which littered the highway and nothing else..

If anything the signs served to be markers to give drivers the opportunity to say, hey there's that asshole Jay Webber.

From field reports from others it would seem that the GOP chose to spend their money on consultants and not much else.

Now they have been wiped out in NY, NJ, California and much of the NE in the house.

They have literally squandered a once in a lifetime opportunity to advance a muscular conservative agenda while having probably the most conservative President in our lifetime in the oval office.

The GOP is an ideologically confused, undisciplined, unorganized, unprincipled and illegitimate political party and all that entails.

And the sad thing is we will more than likely not be able to vote our way out of our predicament and the GOP will have squandered their 24 years in power.

Sad.

20 I've always found it near incomprehensible that the group that most needs the police to enforce their utopian vision of an all encompassing State (Progressives) never seem to understand that more laws, more regulations, less to more Police-civilian interactions

Meanwhile, the groups they despise, the Churchgoing "deplorables" (along with their lesser known variant, the "too Jewish" orthodox, as Progressive Jews refer to us), are both better armed and less likely to need to resort to State functionaries for problem resolution.

86 Police these days are too militarized--I mean both the law enforcement culture itself and the individual cops.

They view everyone as a perp--even old ladies and middle- aged
men--they hate being questioned and seem to have chips on their
shoulders. The young ones are gym rats and have a hair-trigger temper
(roids?) and they preen around -- get manicures, pedicures and weekly
haircuts.

They also make a damn lot of money, the kind of money that would
make the old paunchy Irish and Italian cops I remember from my youth
blush. These were the cops who would get more done using just their
wits--and a nightstick--than today's cops with their gadgets, gizmos,

87 Lot of thoughts on the shooting . Last I read , the Guard had the suspect down and holding the perp's own gun on him. The cop should have issued a command before firing though I assume the cop will say he thought he was saving someone from being shot . I assume if it actually was a shooter who had someone down with a gun pointed at that person, the cop would be considered a hero. Still should have issued a command though first. Another question. Was the Security guard wearing a uniform?

They want three weeks of vacation to start, they want to work 9-5, no weekends, no holidays, do not want to answer work calls after five or at lunch, and want $80,000 to start. They know everything, and the way you are currently doing things is wrong. They want the company to be donating large amounts of profits to their preferred causes in Africa, or to the environmental groups. They want full insurance, sick days and pay, no questions asked days off, if travel is involved, company car.

I have numerous friends in positions responsible for hiring people and they say college grads are basically impossible to hire unless you are offerering a plum IT position.

Actually, not even that.

A "studies" degree will make you overqualified for most minimum wage jobs, resulting in you being less likely to get a minimum wage in the first place (because your manager knows you'd much rather be doing something that pays better, so why waste the time getting you up to speed if you might quit in a few weeks?).

It'll also make you a worse employee, since you're now very likely to be viewing everything through a marxist framework as you were taught in college, and will give you a sense of entitlement, and a temptation to be insubordinate towards your supervisor/manager, especially if they themselves don't have a degree.

TBF - Denver was being considered, and I didn't want Amazon. They'll demand hundreds of millions in tax breaks to move to your city, with the promise of 30,000 or 50,000 jobs or whatever number, and then the majority of those will be transfers of current employees from other offices.

Net result - your city pays Amazon a metric fuckton of cash to move there (some of which finds its way to your local ward heelers, of course), and then they fill your city with thousands more latte-sipping soyboys who raise the cost of living for existing residents, and make the traffic even worse.

No thanks.

Posted by: It's me donna at November 13, 2018 11:14 AM (O2RFr)

Lawsuit wants to negate the FL law that requires mail-in ballots be received by 7 pm on ED. FL sends out mail-in ballots 10/9-16, then EV takes place from 10/22-11/4 (for big counties like Broward), w ED on 11/6. There is no reason that mail-ins should not be provided by ED. But, imo, that's part of what Broward was illegally doing: counting the ballots that USPS continued to deliver after ED. Miami-Dade appeared to not have theirs delivered/stopped acceptance. But, no answer on where Broward and Palm's are located.

193 Re: the GOP and this election.

Jim Jordan was on Levin's Fox television show Sunday night. There was another gentleman on with him, newly elected I believe to the House.

Jordan hit it right out of the park with his analysis of the election and the loss of he majority in the House. He said that the Republicans have NO message of what they want to accomplish and what their platform is . He said, as a member, he has no idea what the members in the House wanted to accomplish if they had won the House back. He knows what he personally wants to see happen, but leadership is responsible , in his mind, for having no message, no cohesive plan, and no effort to get that plan moving. ( He's referring to Paul Ryan) . He said that the failure to pass ObamaCare repeal and replace, and the failure to fund the wall , two signature promises that the House republicans ran on, helped to oust them.

I haven't watched all of it ( recorded it ) but he and the other person with him were absolutely dead on honest about the GOP and it's election efforts.

208 Years ago, while stationed in DC, the wife and I went to Baltimore to meet a friend at his inlaws. They lived in an old Polish neighborhood, with the brownstones with the stoops people scrub regularly. Got lost, flagged down a cop on a three wheeler (Servicar?). He asked where we were going, said it's complicated, and then said follow me. Nowadays, as JoeF. at 122 says, they would start with why are you here, why are you going there, etc.

Cops don't operate in a vacuum. They are a reflection of the

As our society has become more crude and unaccountable it really isn't a shock that the police have tracked accordingly.

Yeah, I agree that those degrees are a yuuuuuge drawback in most of the private sector. But there IS a market for them elsewhere.

Who do you think fills the ranks of all of those "diversity" offices in the education complex? Who runs the "sensitivity" programs and HR departments that even many private businesses have to have? Increasingly these people come from X-studies departments.

Moonbat governments, community organizers, and think-tanks hire quite a few too, especially from the Anti-white Studies sector.

224 Cops don't operate in a vacuum. They are a reflection of the political leadership of the area they work which in turn is a reflection of the local culture.

-------

Sort of. It depends. At least here in CO, at the county level in rural areas, the cops essentially ARE the political leadership. We have County Commissions, but the Sheriffs are basically the "mayors" of our counties.

In our rural northern counties, this works fine, and most of the SDs up there are decent enough law-and-order types, and will routinely defy unconstitutional Leftist edicts handed down by the State - they represent their people.

Meanwhile, in my home county they're corrupt drug dealers who represent nobody but themselves. It's a running joke to people who live there. They run the voting (it's done at the sub-stations), and surprise - even though everyone hates him, the Sheriff is "re-elected" every time.

Finally, he disgraced himself sufficiently that he was forced to resign before the election because of popular rage at his corruption and incompetence. So, here's hoping the new guy is a damn sight from different from the petty thug who ran that place my whole life. Not holding my breath though.

Honestly getting to the point where accelerationism almost seems like a better strategy. I debate with myself about that constantly. As the "likely" turns more and more into the "inevitable" I wonder more and more why we bother delaying it. If they're going to steal all my shit I'd rather have it be sooner than later when the bastards will get more of it.
By the way, not honestly proposing voting for collapse , just saying I think about it from time to time. Especially when the one "opposition party" is so cucked and lame they can't even put together a solid agenda of what they want even when they have a majority. I understand a lot of that is due to subversion in the leadership, but that fact itself raises a lot of "why even bother" sentiment in me.

There's a few of these in that area. Tiny incorporated towns that are mostly black. Little bit higher class black than lives in chicago and I'm guessing the cops that came were black also. If they have a PD.

If they don't have their own PD they might contract with one of the larger burbs nearby or the State Police of their LE.

Since the accounts don't scream white cops and they would, I'm guessing the cops who shot this guy were mixed or all black.

No tv narrative there so the demographic goes by by on the TV.

There may be more to this story than meets the eye but as usual they first thing they focus on cops vs blacks.

A group of LGBT migrants arrived in Tijuana this weekend after reportedly breaking off from the larger U.S.-bound caravan due to verbal harassment and poor living conditions.

About 76 LGBT members of the caravan, which has about 3,600 members, described inter-caravan persecution and poor planning interfering with the members' ability to eat and bathe on a regular basis, according to Telemundo 20 in San Diego.

"Even taking a bath was a major problem," a caravan member who is Honduran told Telemundo. "When we wanted to shower there was no water for us...for food it was the same thing."

An anonymous group paid for the small group of LGBT migrants to take a bus to the border. They said just like in their native country, they endured verbal abuse while they traveled with the large migrant group, which is expected to reach the U.S. border in about 2-3 weeks.

And if you think that maybe, just maybe, these people are coached by NGOs to utter key words and phrases to gain entry, you are correct. See this from Lauren Southern (note: this is in Europe, but I assume it's SOP):

270 I'd say the same thing about cops that I say about lawyers: the good news is that they are like everyone else; the bad news is that they are like everyone else. being the law-and-order, anti-hippy party, Republicans, including conservatives, have always had a hard time processing the bad news. A certain segment of conservatives can repeat Reagan's "we're from the government" line and appreciate its significance with respect to the IRS or EPA, but lose the thread when it comes to law enforcement (despite witnessing FBI ineptitude and misdeeds repeatedly over the years).

271 I get it and all, but it's not really kosher for a policeman to be thinking in terms of "good guys" and "bad guys" while on the job.

Yeah, that's a thing of course, but our legal system is not designed to recognize that fact (for good reason), and what else is a police officer than an end effector of the legal system?

274 Everyone is trying to figure out why McSally lost. Some say she was a nevertrumper, but she wasn't. Some say she was too close to Trump, but she wasnt.

Larry Schweikart says she lost because she didn't appeal to millenniuls, lol.

One number did stick out from the exit polling and that was that McSally and Sinema tied among Seniors. No GOP candidate will win unless they rack up the totals among Seniors. Sinema used the "pre-existing conditions" attack just like every other Dem this midterm, and it worked for her, too.

Another isssue, and this was a problem in WI, too, is having brutal primaries late in the summer, so when it's over, the candidate has no money and is just cannon fodder for the opposition.

IMO, the biggest issue is that McSally just isn't a good candidate. She has nothing going for her beyond her impressive bio and in this day and age, being in the military just doesn't mean anything to voters. Get ready to see a ton of kooky atheist Kyrsten because she's got that AZ seat as long as she wants it.

So if you haven't been paying attention since the GOP became a competitive party in 1994, the Republican candidate has to be 99 33/100% pure and utterly on board with their shrinking base while a Dem gets to crank out votes indefinitely from its base -- the Stygian underworld. I'm sure there was some Trump blowback in the Maricopa suburbs, but we'll need to see detailed exits to confirm that. The biggest problem was that McSally was broke after the primary and Sinema carpetbombed the airwaves with attack ads and defined McSally as being against healthcare covering pre-existing conditions. That issue was golden for every Dem that ran with it.

And we may not like her (I can't stand her), but Sinema is very cute and very charismatic. That matters. Remember, too, that McSally struggled against a far lesser opponent in her last election and had to go through this vote-counting after election day and just squeaked out the win. She's just not a strong candidate.

Also, the five officers in Dallas were not 'executed'; they were murdered by a violent criminal. That term is reserved by the state when it renders a sentence of death after due process.

Likewise, when cops shoot and kill a security guard, and three other people besides the criminal (who was supposedly unarmed and down on the ground), that's one fucked up situation.

Like Bill Mitchell, Larry is a con man. He got lucky in 2016 and that election was a once-in-a-lifetime fluke, imo. GOP got the perfect candidate for the rust belt, the Dems had the only candidate with worse favorability ratings and the Dems thought they had it locked up and didn't turn out.

339 Is McSally was married two years, annulled. No Kids. Speculation, whispers etc.

So as compared to sinema, perhaps a wash on the sex thing. Sinema with slight edge because raised Mormon?

I dunno.

I'm partial to that one, too. But now that I've found cigarette and beer can monkey, there's a statical tie.

She's not aiming for speaker of the house, she's aiming for community organizer of the house.

343 I live in southern Missouri and my son-in-law wants to get into an apprenticeship to be a plumber. No luck. He's willing to travel about anywhere and stay a few years. He's a smart kid, 21, and a hard worker. Any ideas?

I wouldn't be so sure about the Democratically controlled house agreeing to any VP.

346 The cop who shot the security guard was not from the town where the shooting took place, Robbins IL. He was from neighboring Midlothian IL.

Robbins is a nearly all black (96.25%) economic black hole ($24,125 median household income).

347 "My brother, in addition to his full-time police-work (Special Victims) and National Guard duties, is working 2-3 security gigs just to make ends meet."

Then he is spending way way too much money on stupid wasteful nonsense, and his problems have zero to do with how much he is making.

348 These shootings go away if you get rid of qualified immunity. There is no recourse for the family of the dead guard. It's insane.

349 re 19:

From field reports from others it would seem that the GOP chose to spend their money on consultants and not much else.

and now you know why so many in the GOP established can't stand Trump. Jeb would have spent as much as Hillary did and still lost.

350 Electricians and plumbers can make plenty of money but they're icky and have to work with their hands and get sweaty and dirty! They're not like the slick people who sit in air conditioned offices all day doing "mind work"

351 Just a note on the "most dangerous professions" list.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not include the military. If it did, Infantry would be No. 3, third most dangerous profession after Fishing and Logging.

Yes, you are safer as a US infantryman than on a fishing boat. Police work is a lot safer than either.

353 Fuck you. You libertarians wanted a country where the guilty go free, where the fact of guilt matters nothing when the i's and t's aren't crossed on the paperwork, where you can't leave your door unlocked during the daylight hours. Where 80% of robberies and half of murders go unsolved. Where you can't execute a guy who kills a dozen people unless you find some "extraordinary" reason he killed them.

Yah we pay taxes for military cops. Every time a cop shoots a perp, the country is improved. Don't like it, go eat a bullet. The time of Taking is coming when we won't rely on paid professionals for our violence. The radical right will be violent themselves.

354 I had a nice conversation on line recently about CCW holders running to help a Cop in a bad guy good guy shoot out.I stated to do so probably means the Police will shoot you too. Along with the bad guy who will shoot you as well.
To do so opens you up to law suits. You the CCW holder do not have the legal, Union or lawyers to protect you.I was called every name in the book from coward to being told I didn't need a gun.And yet, here we are.I hope that website is paying attention to this event.

355 @351 The most dangerous events are driving a car or truck down the highway. Now that will kill several tens of thousands just going to and from work, the store or cruising.

356 Until all the info about this shoot comes in I'm reluctant to comment about it. Just like in Ferguson where the witnesses saw things different, but, evidence later showed different, it's hard to render a conclusion either way.
Are there Cops who break the rules, heavy handed, too quick to shoot? Of course, just like in any other profession there's good ones, marginal ones, and poor ones.
Should society hold police to a higher bar? ABSOLUTELY YES. Police, like Judges, are one of the selected people entrusted by society where they can take your freedom away. This is a really big deal for the officers I have known and they do not take that trust lightly. I've known a number of training officers who say they drill that into new officers heads constantly and it is continuously repeated throughout an officers career.
Some of the problems Cops have is the limited and/or sketchy info they receive when responding to dangerous calls like this. Some of the people calling 911 may believe the security guy was actually the perp and tell that to 911, who then tells that to the responding officers. On arrival they see this security guy with a gun pointed at the perp. What happens next is the issue. Did the security guy turn point his gun at the cops? Did he identify himself? Did the cops ask him to drop the gun? When everyone is jacked up on adrenaline strange things happen, sometimes good some bad. You cannot paint all police with a broad brush because of one or two ones screwing up. Believe me, the last thing 99.99% of cops want to do is kill or really hurt someone; especially innocent people.

357 "I see no rational solutions being suggested by anybody"

Well, I've been advocating rational solutions for a decade now.1) Lower the level of gov't AND policing to the smallest area possible, so the people in that area can take responsibility for themselves,2) Get people to take responsibility for their OWN safety and security (I hate the "thin blue line" and "the only thing that stands between us and anarchy" crap),3) Recapture the attitudes found in the Peelian Principles.
That is, IF you want to be free citizens, and not subjects of the crown.

359 I believe what you posted made a ton of sense. However, what about this?

what if you composed a catchier title? I am
not saying your content isn't good., however what if you added something that makes people
want more? I mean The Morning Rant: J.V. Edition is kinda boring.
You could peek at Yahoo's home page and watch how
they create article headlines to grab people interested.
You might try adding a video or a related pic or two to get readers interested
about everything've got to say. Just my opinion, it might bring
your posts a little livelier.
