Who's Encouraging Violence Again, Leftists?

Don't read below if you want to avoid being #Triggered.

Quick, I need CNN to instruct me that the leftwing media do not support antifa (in between explicitly supporting them on their opinion shows) and therefore are not responsible for their domestic terrorism.

Here's a meme going around, which I think is true: These NPCs don't have human empathy. They're developmentally disabled as far as empathy, like sociopaths.

Little children gain the power of empathy through imagination and experience. They know what it feels like to be physically hurt; it makes them cry.

For a period, they cannot imagine what it might feel like to someone else to be hurt, and they laugh at other's hurts; but eventually, the power of empathetic imagination develops, and they can see themselves in the other person being hurt, and they link it to their own memories of being hurt, and they feel empathy.

Empathy makes us human, obviously. The Voigt-Kampff test from Blade Runner could tell a robot from a human being based on the subject showing, or not showing, the physical signs of empathy for another living being.

These NPCs are very much like human-shaped robots. They're sociopaths. They're Replicants. They are incapable of seeing other people and wondering what terror feels like from their perspective.

And they're proud of it. Yglesias is bragging about being a sociopath here.

I can't "dehumanize" them. They dehumanize themselves, then openly brag about not being quite human.

The thing is, you can't teach him empathy. He's past the age when little children learn it. He's a sociopath for life.

Omelets, eggs.

But he's not a radical or terrorist sympathizer.

He's subsidized by General Electric!

Look at this Fatboy:

Meanwhile, the partisan propagana outlet Washington Post's "conservative" columnist Jen Rubin offers some perfunctory, insincere criticism of antifa, but then suggests that Sarah Sanders should be given the Chase Them Out of Restaurants treatment:

Note that Jen Rubin has previously defended SmashRacism and antifa's "protests" of people in restaurants: she declared Sarah Sanders deserved the "life sentence" of constant, round-the-clock harassment by violent antifa mobs.

I guess she's surprised that they took her support and decided to escalate it into "home invasion protests."

Who could have seen it coming, that encouraging and supporting a terrorist group could lead to escalation?

Update: Tough But Fair. This guy notes that the rightwing media is only now engaging seriously with the epidemic of antifa/leftwing violence now that one of their own is threatened.

Don't mistake me (or him); what happened to Tucker's wife and children is horrifying and must be dealt with in the firmest possible manner.

But this shit has been going on for a long time and I didn't see Megyn Kelly complaining too much when antifa was cracking skulls with bicycle locks.

Well... maybe this is overstated, at the moment. "Elite media righties" did cover and condemn mob behavior by the left. And who knows, maybe they won't really do much for Tucker beyond sending some Sternly Worded Tweets.

But a lot of the Cuck Right has been pretending the escalating violence of the left is no big deal because to admit otherwise would weaken their position that we should cede all political power to the left to protest Orange Man Bad.

Because the extreme left are their quasi-allies in this fight, and because they cannot admit our current political position is perilous and not the time to surrender to violent leftwing mobs, they have to pretend that it's no big deal if bands of antifa are beating the shit out of people in the street.

"There are fine people on both sides," our cucks bleat, to excuse their near-total acceptance of frequent and escalating leftwing violence, all justified by their fine fellow journalists at CNN.

5 FFS, NONE of the left are frightened. The left OWNS contemporary culture lock, stock and barrel: the news media, Hollywood, Silicon Valley, the universities, everything. They are marching around videoing their marches and protests, they are marching around in broad daylight. We have illegals TALKING TO THE PRESS about how "scared" they are, that's not fear. Fear is cowering in the catacombs, not marching with a pussyhat.

38 Flights in and out of Ben Gurion Airport resume after half-hour delay

Flights in and out of Ben Gurion International Airport are suspended for approximately half an hour this evening, an aviation official says.

The spokesperson for the Israel Aviation Authority says the take offs and landings were delayed by approximately half an hour, but refuses to say what prompted the measure.

The Ynet new site reports that the delay was requested by the Israeli Air Force.

The Israeli military does not immediately comment on the matter.

My bet was that there was an unidentified drone in the vicinity of the airport.

I think I developed my appreciation for empathy by reading Mark Twain -- where the town drunk would play up to the preacher during the day, slip out the window at night, get drunk, get arrested, the preacher would bail him out, and it would repeat again day after day without end.

So I see empathy on a line of continuum, weigh arguments right and left, look at some history, then decide.

With the left, they receive nothing but 'marching orders' which they obediently obey. There's no real empathy there. If the marching orders change tomorrow, they'll fall right into lockstep, without an ounce of cognitive dissonance.

They feel like they should feel it and show it so they try. It looks off and weird and bizarre to people who are actually capable of empathy because it's not real, it's just playacting. Since they aren't capable of empathy they don't realize that empathy is not an emotion that is only triggered when something bad happens to someone in your own tribe. In normal people it is triggered when ANYONE is in need of it. They don't know this so they don't playact their empathy for people not in their tribe. They really are quite disturbed people.

First, Charlottesville. That has been made into some sort of mythic white supremacist rally for the ages (despite it being led by a guy who had worked at OFA within 2 months of the rally, i.e. false flag op).

Second, Proud Boys have been engaging Antifa in Berkley, Portland, and NYC recently. Again, the context is glossed over, since these Antifa riots were happening long before the Proud Boys decided "Hey, let's say we punch back since the police won't protect people from these thugs?"

There is no MAGA-inspired white nationalist organization terrorizing the country, just some examples they can pull together for their narrative thanks to them cheering on Antifa et. al. and a few instances of people pushing back.

This is how it goes in countries transitioning to an authoritarian political structure.

The street elements of the party feel emboldened to act out because the party keeps the police from arresting them, and forces the police to arrest people who defend themselves.

This is what happened in 1930s Spain. The "moderate" Left took over the government and gave the hard left free rein to beat/kill people on the street.

Once the "moderate" left in a country goes down this path there is traditionally only one answer...

It's also why they have so many issues readjusting. It's not normal to lose that empathy for other human beings. It's a form of mental illness.

People like Matt, Jen and their ilk are not even fit to clean those men's drawers, and they have zero excuse to behave this way. Except it is the deliberate result of their angry, antisocial, sociopath minds that orders politics above societal norms, mores and existential beliefs. They really are "sick" mentally. Trying to do Nov. writing and book about elementary education blah blah. So wring about self control, self esteem in schools.

'Self control' is no longer a thing, because of 'expressing your feels' and 'self esteem'. It breeds narcissism and of course a lack of empathy. Having safe spaces allows you to go out, harass others then run back to your safe space instead of reaping any real consequences for that behavior.

I learned self control at a very early age when Mom said "if you don't stop crying you'll really have something to cry about."
oh and there was a time limit...'I'm going to count to ten and if you are still crying..."
These people are actually rewarded for losing control. They are emboldened. They need consequences. Real hard unforgettable consequences.

Little children gain the power of empathy through imagination and
experience. They know what it feels like to be physically hurt; it makes
them cry.

For a period, they cannot imagine what it might feel like to someone
else to be hurt, and they laugh at other's hurts; but eventually, the
power of empathetic imagination develops, and they can see themselves in
the other person being hurt, and they link it to their own memories of
being hurt, and they feel empathy.

You know where are all this shit started? Not keeping score, participation trophies, and being given everything they wanted so that their precious "self esteem" and "feelings" weren't hurt.

342 Generally, to claim self defense as an affirmative defense to murder you need to satisfy these elements:

1) A threat was imminent. (Case law on "imminent" varies by state, but is usually pretty fucking literal. Like a guy brandishing a knife 40 feet away from you is not going fulfill the "imminent" requirement in most states. If you know and can articulate the '21 foot rule,' then maybe that would work.)
2) You were in REASONABLE fear for your life (or substantial bodily harm. This language varies by state.)
3) You acted proportionally.
4*) (this one varies WILDLY by state) You took reasonable measures to avoid the confrontation (ie: or, put another way, you weren't the aggressor). This can manifest itself as a "duty to retreat" in some states.

351 There is a reason in many unsettled parts of the world that home architecture focuses on barriers--High fences or walls that funnel people to airlock type sets of doors often incorporated with steel or iron shielding with upper level living spaces in urban areas and sealed off private alleys/roads etc. at the back. Often decorative grillwork embedded in masonry covers all accessible windows. Dogs are frequently employed for security measures.

The same is present in less urban architecture is a villa type with virtual windowless exterior opening onto a courtyard with massive doors for entry and a primitive, relatively crappy looking exterior. These compounds also often have exterior block perimeter walls--shared with neighbors sometimes in row types subdivisions (with broken glass or razor wire embedded at the top) and defensive type plants and screenings so that they cannot be seen from public roads. Places like the Dakota in NYC have perimeter security, large burly doormen, and a quick hotline to the Police for aid.

Mobs were not unknown in the past, nor have ceased to exist today in many parts of the world and thus homes were designed to protect their inhabitants of the wealthier sort. Even in the major cities with architecture dating back the 1800's in NYC or even earlier in Great Britain, the well to do elites did everything to make their homes secure from mobs.

Today, only the celebrities or the very rich in the US and Europe are that worried about security. Quite a few people live in gated communities but often this gives a false sense of security if the gateways are unmanned.

In a low trust society, everyone does what they can to keep the wolf or wolves from their door. At the low end, you end up with Venezuela or Brazilian type vigilantism as the poorer citizens cannot afford to build or live with architectural type protection nor live in walled safe neighborhoods with exterior patrolling. Thus, vicious immediate punishment by street justice becomes the law and the police turn their heads.

This is what happens in a society that is transitioning from high trust to low trust. Everything changes, eventually no one is safe.

Those unsettled times are returning again and those who try to bring heaven to earth bring hell instead.

If you shot at a crowd, you would be charged with murder 1 or murder 2, and your lawyer would have to argue for all 3 (or 4) elements of self defense to even be allowed to use that argument in court.

I would not want to take on that case unless the fact pattern was VERY friendly to the defendant. (ie, crowd was armed, was swarming the house, trying to break in, there was a possible defense of a third party situation, etc)

390 These people are hysterical fools.
And the longer they get coddled and petted and encouraged to insist on their "safe places" or else, the more hysterical and foolish they're going to get. It is NEVER all right to terrorize a family at their home. NEVER. Individuals who do so should be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Won't happen, though. Heaven forbid we expect the left to respect the law. Their special like that.

Posted by: Antisocialist at November 08, 2018 02:23 PM (2shuf)

391 342, just a minor quibble.

Reasonable under the law is an objective standard, more or less those of the jury and jury instructions based on the caselaw and statutory law of the jurisdiction. It does not mean what the individual in question believes is reasonable. People often forget that one.

Crudely put, an objective standard means that a disinterested objective outsider with the same information at the time would generally reach the same decision as did the accused.

BTW, self defense is an affirmative/justification defense. That means you have to step up and take credit for what is done. Flight, lying or denying the actions, changing evidence, etc. can all serve to indicate consciousness of guilt and negate a self defense strategy.

I took an art history class once that discussed architecture in terms of the state of society. A lawful society typically had open architecture, especially for houses, whereas one prone to lawlessness typically were built like forts, as you described. You can see this in, e.g., parts of Italy today: houses with essentially blank facades and enormous doors facing the street, opening up into courtyards inside.

What I found fascinating, the last time I visited Italy (after three years ago) was how many Fascist monument and Fascist buildings still stand. I had never really noticed or paid attention to this before. If you look closely, and actually read the inscriptions on a lot of otherwise innocuous-looking monuments and statues, you'll see there from the '20s or '30s, in praise of the Fascisti or Mussolini. Very odd that they were never taken down.

VERY friendly to the defendant. (ie, crowd was armed, was swarming the
house, trying to break in, there was a possible defense of a third party
situation, etc)

Posted by: Harry Paratestes at November 08, 2018 02:21 PM (GBteo) "
As presented, my scenario of trying to beat the door down is attempted forced entry with your family present.

In the open, assuming for the same of argument that you had no duty to retreat, presented with 20 *unarmed* vocal, physical belligerents, then it'd be a slam-dunk good shoot on whoever you pick as the most threatening/first target, and from there on out on whoever decides not to retreat or attempt surrender. That many people is way, way on the other side of "doesn't matter if they have weapons or not".

Place yourself in your home instead, and now that door - presumably a typical residential exterior door which is not going to hold up to any serious attempt - is the only different factor than the above. When the door gives signs of failing, it is time to shoot, and if they keep trying to bust it down you keep shooting. You are responsible for not sending rounds at your neighbors, but anyone else out their bought their ticket and gets to take their chances.
Will you get charged if your local authorities are asshats? Yes. But what value do you place on the lives of your family?

526 406 Reasonable under the law is an objective standard, more or less those of the jury and jury instructions based on the caselaw and statutory law of the jurisdiction. It does not mean what the individual in question believes is reasonable. People often forget that one.

Crudely put, an objective standard means that a disinterested objective outsider with the same information at the time would generally reach the same decision as did the accused.

We had a case in Tucson a few years back where a guy (#1) cut off another guy (#2) in traffic, the two cars pulled up next to one another at a light, the guy who was cut off (#2) started screaming obscenities (but not threats) at #1 and then (according to #1) #2 bent over in his car. #1 said he believed that #2 was bending over to get a gun, so #1 shot his own gun, twice, into #2's car, killing him.

Neither driver had any criminal record.

The shooter was charged with murder and had a jury trial. The jury acquitted him.

Under AZ law, the prosecution had the burden of proving that the defendant was not justified in using deadly force in self defense. Apparently the jury felt the prosecution failed to meet its burden.

A tale (tail?) of two golden retrievers.

Our first one was a big boy (120 lbs., all muscle), and a man's dog (he was my dog, no question about it; he loved to wrestle and puppy fight with me by the hour). Once in a park a large dog growled at me, and he went for him in a heartbeat.

One night I returned very late from a business trip and entering from the garage through the pedestrian door he came roaring up, hackles up, in a crouch as if to spring, uttering a low rumbling menacing growl. He was definitely open for business.

I instantly closed the door again, and called his name. He started wagging furiously, "Oh hi, Dad!" but he'd been very convincing that he meant business.

Our second golden was sweet but metrosexual, and he was definitely my wife's dog. No wrestling or puppy fighting, etc. Again, a 3 am return from a business trip and I literally stepped on him in the dark, waking him up. He looked up, recognized me, and started wagging. So much for a watch/ guard dog.

You can shoot through a door, but its going to be much more difficult to demonstrate you were reasonably afraid for your life.

For example: Shelly Duvall in the Shining as Jack Nicholson hacks
her door down with an axe? Probably gonna be okay if she pumps a few
rounds through the door at him.

Someone pounds on the door in the middle of the night? You're gonna have a tough time convincing a jury that was self defense. "

That's precisely the thing though. Verbal threats + crowd of moonbats + attempted forced entry is over on the Shining end of the spectrum.

An aggressor does not need to be armed for it to be a good shoot. You simply need to show that using more force - be it lethal or not - was necessary because they were bigger/stronger or more numerous.

On what grounds could Don Lemon claim it would be morally wrong for a mob to set him alight or lynch him because he's black or gay? On what grounds could Yglesias claim it would be morally wrong to murder him because he is Jewish?

These people have literally undercut any argument they have for inciting violence against them. The proper response would be "Oh, but I thought you were in favor of that".

571 518,
The zombie horde issue is rarely how it comes down and in most caselaw, firing through a door is usually unreasonable with signs of forcible entry (if burglary is a forcible felony in your state).

But, the whole thing about self defense is that the objective standard will be what the prosecutor and jury think is reasonable, not you. Think about that sort of trial in an urban area especially when you through race into the mix. Easiest way and cheapest is to harden all of your entry points-be a hard target and make them seek easier game.

Bonus points if you have high pressure water such as a firehose to hose the crowd down-a high pressure washer can work in a pinch. Tends to dampen their enthusiasm (heh). Much cheaper than a good criminal defense lawyer.

So if you're still worried about "the law" you're not really worried about a societal collapse.

If we were talking about fighting a bunch of third graders or 90 year old women, it would be one thing, but it's distressingly easy for a bunch of moderately-abled-bodied adults to cause permanent injury, particularly head injuries.
A typical front door is going to show signs of failing in short order against a real attempt to force it; it's simply not much of an obstacle against the threat presented by a mob. I'm not talking about the tards half-heartedly drumming against the SCOTUS doors last month; I mean a real series of kicks.

No. You're giving them too much credit.

I wrote this in 2006, and it remains true 12 years later (and probably forever):

racist - A statement of surrender during an argument. When two people or disputants are engaged in an acrimonious debate, the side that first says "Racist!" has conceded defeat. Synonymous with saying "Resign" during a chess game, or "Uncle" during a schoolyard fight. Originally, the term was meant to indicate that one side was accusing the other of being racist, but once it was noticed that people only resorted to this tactic when all other arguments had been exhausted, it acquired its new meaning of "indicating one's own concession of defeat."

And now the first thing they will do after being elected is...impeach the president?

694 Far too many people are discussing self defense without the necessary background of facts.

My advice, cheap at that, buy Andrew Branca's Law of Self Defense which covers the basics of law and jury instructions in each state. A more fun version of that would be Mitch Vilos and his book on the subject but Branca's is a bit more recent.

Massad Ayoob's In the Gravest Extreme and his more recent works on self defense give the laymen's view of this.

Branca also does training seminars for groups and sells his presentations for each state via Amazon.

For more advanced issues, visit the Armed Citizen's Defense League which has heavy hitters (most trainers on self defense) on their board. Nice newsletter.

For the most grim, check John Farnam's books and training website. He and Ed Lovette have excellent information on being the "gray" man and avoiding unwelcome attention.

712 There is something to be said for shotguns and rifles, generally shot placement and count are not as critical as when using a handgun. Handguns are for fighting your way to the long guns or for portability and concealment. Home defense shotguns an ARs make a whole lot of sense.
