13 One the upside (if there is one), it did nothing to the balance of power. It would have been good to swing it harder toward the Rs since we still have to deal with Coke Bear and Collins, and so need a stronger majority to really grease the skids, but this loss - while disappointing - doesn't seem to shift the balance either way.

There's nothing wrong with being an individual, but these days I don't trust anyone who insists that there is no broader American identity, and no standard to hold onto. That's how we got in this mess.

Eh, MT is an odd duck and has been for a while. Some CA pressures there, but it has long been something of a wildcard.

ID is more worrisome in terms of turning blue. Like CO, it is under a lot of demographic pressure from out-of-staters. Not as many Californians in ID, but increasing numbers from Seattle and blue Washington. Washington can't maintain outbound population pressure like CA can, but it's a real risk to ID.

The demographic rot worries me more, as at least those leaving blue states had sense enough to know something was wrong. They also have stronger cultural ties. They're not going to start groping people or defecating in swimming pools, then wondering "why is everyone so upset?"

76 We don't have 20 years. We will hit #1 long before then.

I'm torn on that.

On the one hand, the thin veil of civilization and the looming fiscal disaster of the last 8 years plus nearly every state's pension balloon and medical costs can wipe everything out in a matter of days. The Great Depression ain't got nothing on that.

On the other hand, there's a tremendous amount of momentum and a lot of pressure to not let the inevitable disaster happen... yet. Kick the can a bit further down the road.

So I dunno. Could happen in 50 years. Could happen tomorrow. All's I know is the solutions that could have prevented the inevitable needed to be done back in the 80s but almost nobody was paying attention back then.

A few claps or head nods but nothing other than that. Unfortunately for us, Tester and Manchin have huge home field advantage in their states - they grew up, worked, went to school, etc with these people. A transplant from Maryland or New York just couldn't over come 'I've known Joe/John since High School'. Doesn't mean it's 'the right vote' - I'd love a 57-43 GOP Senate - but I think that kind of thing really matters, particularly in the interior states.

91 Those are hard battles, but we MUST take them on.

Only way to win those battles is to outbreed the left. And raise your kids right WITHOUT sending them to leftist indoctrination. So that they have lots of kids. If this had been the plan in, say, 1980, we'd have a second generation of conservative youths voting this election numbering a good 3-4 times what the left has.

Instead, people blindly sent their kids to public schools, had 1-2 kids because they're expensive and besides I need more me time or they were like me and never even married or had kids.

And so we are where we are today.

Don't worry, northeast states get the blame for every loss in a southern state.

The real split is urban versus rural. Republicans clean up in rural areas and parts of suburbia, Dems get the urban areas and the remaining part of suburbia.

We need a strategy to get some of those urban votes and stop playing just on our turf.

99 I'm torn on that.

City Council candidate among three in Kern County charged with voter fraud

Bakersfield City Council candidate Gilberto de la Torre is crying foul over the Kern County District Attorney's Election Day announcement that he was being charged with election fraud.

"This might cause people not to want to vote for Gilberto de la Torre," the Ward 1 candidate said, referring to himself in the third person. "It may cost me a few votes."

In an unusual Election Day twist, de la Torre was among three in Kern County charged with voter fraud in connection with the 2016 election, according to the District Attorney's office.

...

De La Torre, John Byrne and Fernando Osorio were charged with misdemeanor voter fraud, prosecutors said in a news release. Additionally, Robert Lopez Jr. was charged with perjury, a felony.

Deputy District Attorney Chris E. Dominguez said the DA's Public Integrity Unit is examining more than 100 cases of potential voter fraud stemming from the 2016 election.

Once again verily verily I say unto you ... an Hispanic enclave with one million illegals and one million legals ... gets 3 reps. An area with two million downstate Illinois Americans here mostly for five generations ... gets 3 reps. I.e. -- Illegals have their own reps ... probably about 20 of them. Hmm.

Want to know something sad? These people can be hauled into court but, even if you know they're here illegally, it cannot be mentioned in court.

195 This is really disappointing; I'd thought for sure MT would flip for the Republican. My brother (former Californian) and his family live in Helena; sons went to the university in Bozeman. All are over-the-top batshit crazy libs.

196 187 so what actually conservative places are left to go to without the california plague or illegal overruns? Nebraska? Oklahoma?

Wyoming or North Dakota.

FFS, King of the Hill called this 10 years ago. Hank & the family go to Montana to visit Peggy's family, who are losing the farm because California implants are rewriting the state's laws & culture.

199 "Was he a dindu, or was it a legitimate tragedy?

Posted by: Deplorable Jay"
He was shot by in Florida by a well-armed software developer while playing obnoxious loud rap music at a gas station. Fight and bullets ensued along with a dead kid. Software guy used the stand your ground law to stay out of jail so he was doing more than just playing loud music. He was later convicted of in a second trial of 1st degree murder at the height of the BLM hysteria.

I'm betting he was a dindu. And his mother is now my rep.

So why didn't he stay in CA if he is a batshit crazy lib? Why move to MT? Does he like cold winters?

201 A transplant from Maryland or New York just couldn't over come 'I've known Joe/John since High School'. Doesn't mean it's 'the right vote' - I'd love a 57-43 GOP Senate - but I think that kind of thing really matters, particularly in the interior states.

This is really depressing but all too believable. People are so stupid. If it can be demonstrated that a neighbor who has dozens of subtle cultural things in common with you is actually scheming to harm you, and a city slicker is willing to behave right by you ... this sort of denial is insane.

It shouldn't "really matter", at least not that much. It's like a mother who is in denial that her darling angel is a psychopath, but "neighbor" shouldn't be as strong as the mother-child bond. This means that any local official that can be bought off can continue with the leftist plan to destroy this country, because sentimentality.

204 This sounds gooder regarding Sessionzzzz replacement:
"Sessions's chief of staff Matthew Whitaker will serve as acting attorney general, Trump announced. Whitaker also will assume oversight of the ongoing investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, and possible collusion by Trump's campaign in that meddling."

No RosenPenis.

214 Eh, MT is an odd duck and has been for a while.

215 132 >>> Wife and I are looking at Twin Falls or Idaho falls because Boise is blue.

Both are nice areas! As is Pocatello. I really like Idaho Falls.

I was worried with the solar eclipse last year, that they would have an influx of blue tourists realize 'hey, this is not a bad state' and move in.
