EditionDefending our interests throughout the world means, first and foremost, defending our friends and allies! And under Obama's watch, we failed, and spectacularly so. Or perhaps we succeeded, since Iran and its anti-Western acolytes did rather well during the Obama administration's reign of terror. Through inattention, stupidity, sloth, or active malice we allowed the imprisonment and murder of many of the people who risked the most for America. Sure, there were mercenaries among them, but there were also many people who believed; in freedom and self determination, or who simply chafed at being governed by evil. We let them down, we let them die, and we must never let that happen again. Under Obama, the CIA Suffered a 'Catastrophic' Disaster This is simply stunning. A rollup of networks across the world -- an event that began in Iran, where the Obama administration would soon enough be negotiating its much sought-after "nuclear deal framework," and ended with numerous deaths is the kind of thing of which intelligence nightmares and national-security disasters are made. One's first instinct is to look back and see who was CIA director during that period: Leon Panetta (Feb. 2009-June 2011); Michael Morell (acting director, July-Sept. 2011); David Petraeus (Sept. 2011-Nov. 2012); Morell again (acting, Nov. 2012-March 2013); and finally John Brennan, who served out the remainder of the Obama administration.Imagine a CIA officer in some foreign country trying to convince someone to assist the United States of America in its fight for freedom and self-determination. That will be a tough slog, because the last people who helped are now hanging from the gibbets at the local secret police outpost, courtesy of the U.S. government.
This sounds like loads of fun. 'Chunks of my tongue came off -- you could see the tastebuds': Ross Edgley on swimming around Great Britain Swimming in salt water is a different experience. I cannot imagine doing it for this long. This was touched upon last night be the estimable Misanthropic Humanitarian, but it needs to be squashed, and squashed hard! it is simply insanity, so it fits rather well with the other Leftist ideas for gun control. I voted early. Couldn't select Scalise, because he's not in my district. The only HoR candidate who wasn't a Dem was somebody listed as "No Party," so I had to click him.
Lousy-ana also has a few constituional amendments on the ballot. The only one I thought was truly important was one to require unanimous verdicts for all felonies. Currently LA allows a 10-2 verdict to convict, except in capital cases. In other words, the snowflakes want it to be *harder* to convict a defendant. They want their criminal pets to have a 16% better chance to get off. I voted NO. When I came back from early voting, the number of "Vote Yes!!!" signs on the lawns and medians in my neighborhood, which is heavily African-American and pretty sketchy, convinced me I did the right thing. Deceased Voters Remain Active As Cruz Jokes "Everyone Knows The Dead Vote Democrat..."
Authored by Joseph Jankowski via PlanetFreeWill.com, Hundreds of now deceased people have been found to be still eligible to vote in LA county with one dead man voting in multiple elections years after he died. An investigation conducted by David Goldstein of CBS Los Angeles discovered 561 people who are now dead are registered as active voters in LA County. A 2016 Goldstein investigation found the names of 906 dead people still registered to vote in L.A. County. After inputting those names into the county registrar's voter verification website to see how many are still eligible to vote in Tuesday's election, CBSLA discovered 561 people who are dead but still registered to vote. And it wasn't people who just recently passed away -- they died at least five years ago. Of the dead registered voters, 336 were listed as Democrats, 173 were Republicans and 52 had another party or no party affiliation, reports the local CBS affiliate. Records show that at least 17 of these deceased voters casted support for a candidate in 2016. One deceased name that showed up in the records, Ralph Howey, was found to have voted in 2010, 2012 and 2014, despite having passed away in 2009 at the age of 104. "I'm a little shocked," said one Los Angeles man who witnessed an official mail-in voting pamphlet addressed to his mother. "My mother passed away approximately eight years ago." I can not believe the number of tax measures on my ballot. Why in the world would anybody vote to raise taxes on themselves?
In our case it is because there are no good choices because of the public pension debacle. We voted to restrict the revenue they could collect from us and they responded by not funding pension for 12 years. Now the bills are coming due and they want us to vote for 'fiscal responsibility' by passing bonds for the debt. Of course the threats are exactly the same as they were when they voted for the fake pensions..."if we don't pass this we will have to fire all the police and firemen!" Posted by: IllTemperedCur at November 06, 2018 10:03 AM (veoSD) You can blame that on the Hapsburgs. Interesting story, but I found it elsewhere. I just do not trust Walsh, at all. The swimming story is creepy. As for checking social media about gun purchases, something from the thread prior to the ONT.
The book is Grumbles from the Grave. Hardcover edition. pg 55-56 Robert Heinlein outs himself as a gun nut to Alice Dalgliesh. In 1949. "France had Sullivan-type laws. When the Nazis came, the invaders only had to consult the registration lists at the local gendarmerie in order to round up all the weapons in a district. Whether the authorities be invaders or local tyrants, the effect of such laws is to place the individual at the mercy of the state, unable to resist. In the story Red Planet it would be all too easy for the type of licensing you insist on to make the revolution of the colonists not simply unsuccessful, but impossible." >>The Oregon Democratic Party has sent out a "report card" to Democrats who haven't voted yet, pointing out that voting records are public information.
The report card ends with the following chilling statement: We may call you to ask you about your voting experience and will update your voting record at that time. If you do not vote this year, while we will be disappointed, we will be interested in hearing why not. - - - - - Talk about audacity! On the local news a few days ago they did a quick bit with a young guy who was not happy about a new app that shares the voting history of your social media 'friends'. He rightly pointed out that this information could be misused, such as for hiring decisions, etc. The response from the app people, as said by the reporter was that "other methods to get people to vote have not worked, so they're hoping this will work." Except...voting is *voluntary*. Citizens have a right not to care, not to vote, for heaven's sake! Here in the recent blue state of Michigan, you have to show ID and it's not racist--and nobody ever says it is. But that's what the national media doesn't tell you people in the red states, is that nobody ever mentions it in the blue states. That, along with ND, MO, and IN (and holding all R seats), gets us to 56. Miracle ass pull gets us NJ (57). Massive polling failure gets us MI (5. It could also get us Franken's seat (59). OH finally turning on Brown could get us to (60). Walker dragging WI over the line gets us to 61. So, outer edge of reality is probably 57, but 61 would be super nice. my kids and I sent ours in, but sadly, they will not know the pleasure of going to a polling station and voting. That's just communist. I've said this before but I'll elaborate. Even in off years, even when it's just dog catchers and ballot measures, people take time to be poll watchers. Housewives, retirees, guys who can take a day off work without having to ask real hard, take a day and watch people vote and watch where the ballots go and make sure it's all kosher. And they make sure that there are poll watchers from both sides. So, who watches the Post Office? Which citizen volunteers are in the rooms every day for the month of mail-in voting to see the ballots delivered and opened and honestly counted? Where is the citizen participation in mail-in vote scrutiny? It's communist, I says. Posted by: Bandersnatch at November 06, 2018 12:10 PM (fuK7c) 462

I hate SE FL. Posted by: Marybeth at November 06, 2018 12:08 PM (CmURZ) Yeah, the non-swing states (both blue and red) have voter ID laws. And have had them for decades. I've told the story here a few times about my experience in CT -- I was wiped from the rolls in CT within a week of registering to vote in another state. I got a letter from the CT registrar of voters or whatever and everything. I've never seen government be so efficient in my life. Same story when I moved back to CT and registered a car at a new address. Within a week or so, I got a letter saying, "you need to register in your new town, here's how, and here's all the paperwork you'll need. Oh, and you need to register 30 days (IIRC) before the election or no go." ...So the ability to wipe the rolls, track where people register to vote (somehow), check ID's, etc. is clearly there and not too burdensome. And the D's have no problem carrying out that system in deep blue states. ...Makes you wonder about the real motivation against these common sense rules in those purple states though, doesn't it? Libertarians didn't even nominate anyone for a race with an open federal House seat. Them's getting lazy in the low country. Posted by: TheJamesMadison While individual libertarians vary, it's been my experience that many in libertarian leadership seem to prefer democrats for some bizarre reason if push comes to shove. I say we hold all four Senate seats, gain MO, IN, ND, and MT. FL, WV, MI, and NJ will be close but I don't see it happening.
House we lose about 15 seats but retain a majority. So ~225 R's in the House, 55 R's in the Senate. Posted by: T at November 06, 2018 12:32 PM (2PXwn) 579
There are two questions I would like to ask politicians about every law they propose.
Who decides? and Who pays? They are not going to answer because it is always, the politician decides and the public pays but if they admit that, who would be for it? So if they look at your social media, what constitutes a disqualifiable opinion? And if you don't use social media, is that disqualifiable? And they wonder why the approval rating of Congress is in the low teens! Posted by: JB1000 at November 06, 2018 12:32 PM (16OL0) 580

I'm in the rather polarized 7th district of Virginia, and not at all sure what's going to happen. It's been a "safe" R seat for decades, but considered a bellweather for results tonight.
Dave Brat, our rep, has been disappointing with regard to O care and his charisma level is zero and his campaign has been so lame I have half wondered if he just wants to lose on purpos, and let Spanberger take his spot. My district was +7 for Trump, +4 for a very bad candidate for Governor (Gillespie, who lost to Northram.) In the primary for Senate candidates the Trumpish candidate away with it. Brat could still eke out a win, but Spanberger has positioned herself falsely as a moderate; but Still I don't know any women that rejected Hilary that would peel off a for her. My polling place, however, was swarmed with women, some crying to or whispering to friends about how they ad to "do this" and how f*d up the situation was. How many of those women stayed home or went a third way in 2016 I can't tell. Posted by: SarahW at November 06, 2018 12:41 PM (g1vnC) 588

John Brennan wiretapped and spied on the House, the Senate, the Supreme Court, the Press and the Opposition Party candidate. Indeed, he was so busy spying on political opponents that he failed to stop Snowden, Manning, the Chinese capture of our entire Personnel files, and Russia's complete takeover of the Executive Branch's computer system for weeks in 2014, to name but a few of his many, many failures.
