this is a bit OT, but I just ran across an interesting Texas story - you may remember the big biker gang / police shootout in Waco, in 2015, that left 9 dead and almost 200 arrested? There was a lot of conflicting information at the time, main story was that the police arrived just in time to avert a Gang War, but other voices said no, there was nothing like that happening, that it was a setup and the Police themselves started all the shooting and did most of the killing. There were supposed to be 200 trials, at least, coming out of this.
Fast forward to today - now that's its off the headlines, most of the charges have simply been dismissed, and the only trial so far resulted in a hung jury, with no decision. It's just been announced that a new Prosecutor is taking over, and there will be no more trials at all on this matter until sometime next year - maybe. 4 years after the original incident. This whole case stinks to high heaven. Posted by: Tom Servo at October 29, 2018 02:39 PM (k1TUh) 87

Willowed so re-posted, for those talking about FL race etc.:
Just tea leaves, but early voting/absentee #s in FL still looking positive for R candidates, with very plausible speculation that hurricane damage, which has delayed Panhandle voting, means R lead is under-stated. NV #s also looking good. When I say "good", I mean comparisons with 2014 (last mid-term) and last 2016 (last general), by party ID. Impossible to know now, of course, but I also wonder if a significant % of both D and Independent voters, when so identified (depends on state), will be R voters this cycle, even more than 2016, where it was a very important reality. Who knows. My best guess is still that Rs thrive, in general, win all the toss-ups, and pick up some upsets. Early voting #s support the idea that R, non-D, and anti-D voters (all those categories count) are turning out very enthusiastically. And I think the ongoing hysteria, the complete derangement now of the press and much of the public square "elites" over the recent events, will actually prove to be a final, self-inflicted, and material blow to D prospects. Early voting #s support the idea that R, non-D, and anti-D voters (all those categories count) are turning out very enthusiastically. It's not so much a sewer as a cesspit. If GAB has become supremacist, it's only because twitter forced them all off. This is what happens when a certain group or their opinions are forced out of the common forum. They congregate elsewhere where they're not kept under observation. Making them become sicker and don't realize how much they are a minority opinion. This is why the founders told us to allow all speech the better to promote the good and disenfranchise the bad by argument in front of their peers. Jack and all the others want to create bubbles because that's what they're more comfortable with. It's easier and they're lazy. Every one of them. Contrary (heh) to what they say on the FakeNews, the GOP is still doing good in their races. What is happening is that the election isn't being talked about as much. And that's okay because the reality of some of the stuff this last week doesn't make the Dems look too good. Congrats to Candace Owens and Kanye West. The announcers during last night's World Series game (including the non-entity sportswriters) had to make a special point about Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts pulling Rich Hill in Game 4, since it was the target of Trump's Twittercism. They made sure everyone knew that Hill wanted to come out (even throwing a 1-hitter and with a 4-run lead ?!) so Roberts yanked him in favor of the human batting practice machine.
So there haterz! And Ken Griffey Jr said let the kids play, so when Machado trots on a single to the wall and Puig flips his bat like he's dropping a fresh rhyme, we need to get with the program! The problem with the media is that they've so demonized trump about 44% of the country "strongly" disapproves of him, and will likely remain so.
This means that even if we win over more blacks, Latinos, suburban Moms etc and get him over the 50% line the "opposition" of 40+% of your so-called countrymen remains a Pussy-Hat wearing, molotov-cocktail throwing, assassination-pron fantasizing, mob-forming "resistance." I think Trump's approval #s among GOP-registered is highest ever seen, or tied for it. I don't think his tweeting is hurting him too much. And anyone who actually votes, and actually has their vote affected (in this situation, with these stakes, and players) by such things as Trump's twitter stylings, is too stupid to vote (as are millions who do vote), so there we are. Nothing to be done.

455 I'm with you on this. Base pickup has always been four. A nine seat pickup is possible. Never thought the House would change hands. If it does and Gopers have 58-59 Senate - who cares?
Posted by: Puddin Head at October 29, 2018 03:32 PM (2LelM) =========== Assuming a hold of all R seats now (NV, TN, AZ, and TX in particular), we start at 51. Pickups include: ND, MO, MT, and IN. Despite some polling, I think that's pretty solid. After that, you're looking at possibles in FL, WV, MN, NJ, and MI. If we can get FL and WV, I'd be pretty happy. Likely between 5 and 7. In terms of the House? I dunno...loss of 5-10? ----------------------- I think we will end up plus 2-3 in the Senate, maybe 4 if everything goes well. The House is anybody's guess at this point. I think we end up losing it by just a hair, but we could easily keep it by the same margin (a sliver). Either way, I bet the House is going to be inactive for the next two years. If we keep it I just hope Kevin McCarthy isn't the Speaker. I am a night shift nurse of >25yrs.
I often feed on the ONT,check in with the Treehouse, Gateway Pundit and Daily Caller....Then like the President, I refresh with a good nights sleep (2-3hrs). While waiting for the Ace to roll out, I do the " Morning Report" with JJ, mute the leftists from FnFs as I jettison through the commercials with the DVR and listen to Bonginos Podcast. Doesn't everyone. Oh btw WTFs a "DRUDGE" ?? Posted by: Infidelisious at October 29, 2018 05:40 PM (sO3eN) 496
That's bizarre. I haven't visited the Drudge Report in over a year, but I thought he liked Trump and was more likely to favor Fox News than the far lefty cable channels. If there was one issue that I thought Drudge was serious about it was being pro-life on abortion. It's puzzling that he would suddenly flip to the left given that the pro-choice position is mandatory for lefties. really weird.
