FBI Makes Arrest in Case of Illegal Leaks of Financial Information About Paul Manafort

Either she goes to jail for this, or I'm personally vowing I will vote "Not guilty" in each and every federal case I'm a juror on.

Either the laws apply to all or they apply to none. If the government is not going to prosecute and jail criminals who are in their little club, then as a citizen, I'm going to practice jury nullification and extend the same Privileges and Immunities to citizens who aren't sucking at the government tit.

Obviously we should trust our Uncivil Servants implicitly.

Trusting government officials who harass citizens is the True Conservative Way, I'm sure Ben Sasse will be lecturing us. I think it's right there in the Declaration of Independence.

Amidst all the lawlessness out there, mass illegal migration being the biggest one, the Comey spectacle WRT Hillary's State Dept. crime wave stands out.

It wasn't just something you had to figure out, or notice for yourself (despite PDs under-reporting, not reporting, or simply not arresting illegals for crimes, or the "press" systematically ignoring/concealing these realities).

It was a high-profile, unprecedented (nicely breaking all sorts of DOJ rules, in the process) in-our-faces declaration that even brazen, clumsy, obvious, serious, damaging crimes at the top of America's oldest cabinet agency would *not* be prosecuted. Period. Eat it, America.

103 Interesting coincidence.

Just today I've been dealing with Paypal. They now insist that all Paypal users, if they want to continue using their accounts, upload scans of the user's government-issued identity documents, as well as scans of tax records showing Social Security numbers.

After pondering this for a while, I just made the decision to say "Fuck you" to Paypal, and NOT upload those documents, now or ever.

If they then close my accounts, fine - - I'll live without Paypal.

So, instead of doing what they demanded, I did the reverse: I emptied all my Paypal accounts, zeroing out the balance on all of them, transfering the cash to my actual bank accounts, in preparation of the day (October 2 when Paypal says they will freeze all accounts without "personal verification."

Why did I resist?

Well, reason #1: Hackers and identity theft. All sorts of supposedly ultra-secure tech companies have been hacked (Facebook, Apple, Google, Uber, etc.), exposing private info. There's no reason to assume that Paypal is now and forever immune from hacking. So I don't want Chinese or Russian (or even American) hackers stealing my identity.

Reason #2 (and why I'm making this comment): I DON'T TRUST THE EMPLOYEES AT PAYPAL. I assume any number of them are left-wing activists, who will do ANYTHING to advance their agenda. And some of my Paypal accounts have associated with them email addresses that can be connected to my "conservative online personas." Thus far, I have never provided any "'real name" for those accounts, so no one could connect "zombie" (etc.) to a real person. But with these new demands, they could. "They" being commie SJW douchebag doxxers working at Paypal.

Nope. Nosirree. You cannot have my private info, now or ever. Screw you.

108 I long ago settled on the fact that I will vote "Not Guilty" in any and all federal cases, if I should be called upon for a jury.

If it comes to the point of a trial, it means that the defendant is professing innocence.

He might be a liar. Evidence presented by the prosecution might even strongly suggest that he is.

But I don't know him. He might be honest, even if it's a slim chance.

I do know the plaintiff.

And the plaintiff is an inveterate liar. It's law enforcers are inveterate liars. It's lawyer is an inveterate liar. And nothing they say is to be trusted.

Yep. They hate that. If one person does it and the rest of the panel sees them getting let off, all of the sudden the rest of the pool starts to say the same thing and suddenly you burned through your venire without starting trial.

If you won't follow the law you can't serve. You can dress it up a bit - religious objection to judging etc etc. In the end, they just screw with you to discourage the others from following you. Pretty much what modern society is all about now that I think about it.

My work phone (an iPhone 5c from the dinosaur ages) has barely been able to charge for the last few months. It only happens with a certain amount of pressure at a certain angle.

I finally took the phone to the Help Desk and they were kind of amazed that I had dealt with it for so long.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave me an iPhone 4.

Take a toothpick and thoroughly clean out the phone's connection port for the charger. I've had this same problem, and it's due to pocket lint and whatnot building up around the contact and preventing the plug from seating properly. Dig that shit out and see if it works after.

But the kicker is that jury nullification has been found perfectly legal, as it were, by the SCOTUS. The only caveat they gave was that you are not allowed to try to convince the rest of the jury to follow you.

My real issue was that I don't think more than 3 or 4 other people on the panel even knew what the judge meant by "follow my instructions". And listening to their answers to other voir dire questions it was pretty clear that most of the other panelists were lying their asses off.

The funniest part of the story was that the judge ended up having read the wrong instructions to charge the jury. He corrected himself after the prosecution spoke to him on a sidebar. I LOLed in court at that.

The next time I was called for jury duty I got in trouble because a question on the written voir dire asked if I trust officers of the court and witnesses the same (or something like that). I responded "No" and then when the judge asked me to clariffy I told her that I tended not to trust officers of the court since they all had more personal interests in the outcome of the case than most of the lay people involved. That devolved into an argument about lawyers and I told her that all the lawyers I knew were generally untrustworthy people of low moral fiber. She actually tried to argue with me that my opinion of lawyers was wrong. I told her that she can't prove an opinion of mine wrong. It's an opinion and the court asked me for my opinion. Again, that was the honest truth. But I did tell her that I would follow her instructions, which was bullshit.

361 So now that my good mood has been squashed, I read an article last night at American Greatness about Tech that was really unsettling. Actually, worse than that.

I didn't mention it on the ONT, bcz no one needs to read that before bedtime. However, I suggest reading it. Especially if you want a great summary of all the things threatened.

Also, he makes a point that people's guns will not save them and makes another suggestion. I probably need to re-read that part.

I want the GOP in charge so we can call them and get them to move on the Wall, Tech and all the other crap they screw around with. But I'm one piddling voice. So I hope the rest of the Normals will too. Bcz this is it. Our one chance during Trump.

1) The Friday before the election word leaks out that Mueller has ZIP on PDJT, there is ZERO Russian "collusion", and his final report to congress will be issued right after the election
2) The GOPe gains anywhere from 6-10 Senate seats and holds the HOR, perhaps even gaining a couple of seats

The fact is that if you are considered a material witness by a judge or sit on a jury you have absolutely NO RIGHTS, whatsoever. None. The judge can expose any private information of a "witness" to the public, if he wants to, and said witness has lost all rights to free movement, freedom of association, right to due process ... pretty much every individual liberty the Constitution details. Jurors lose all rights of freedom of movement, association and can also have their private information rifled through (though that might not become public information ... yay!) if the judge deems it necessary.

No one in America is allowed to be abused and violated like a material witness (which is just determined by the judge's whim) or a juror. It's kind of weird.

I think that's why Spanish-speaking countries are such shitholes. You can't do stuff like that and not have to suffer consequences.

Thanks for reminding me - I forgot to add to my list of rights taken away:

Jurors are modern slaves. IN Philly, we got paid $9/day for jury duty that we were not allowed to decline. That certainly qualifies as slavery. The Constitution only allows for slavery as punishment for a crime but, instead, the convicts retain rights in jail and the jurors are enslaved for the trial.

There was a big scramble for the Top Seat once Commodus got offed by his family and the Praetorians. (Unlike in the movie Gladiator, he ruled, if you want to call it that, for 12 years.) I think that was the year, too, that the Praetorians actually auctioned off the emperorship, and a Roman businessman put in the high bid. He didn't last long.

520 Last jury I sat on...the guy was accused of hitting his girlfriend.

Apparently the girlfriend was driving the two of them somewhere when she saw an ex-boyfriend and decided, over the current boyfriend's, err strenuous, objections to pull over and pick the previous one up and take him along for the ride.

Later, in front of girlfriend's children (not from either old or new boyfriend) new boyfriend supposedly got in a big argument that led to the physical confrontation.

Apparently this had happened several times to girlfriend before...as the defense lawyer started a line of questioning along these lines before the judge ruled he couldn't...

They were both horrible, horrible people. I did find out they met because new boyfriend was serving time with girlfriend's uncle. What a match made in heaven!

I wanted to send *all* of them to jail, but for some reason they plea bargained...

My youngest cut himself late one night with an Xacto knife. Bled pretty good and he really needed a stitch or two.

He tried to "fix" it himself with superglue. But instead of pulling the skin together he just kinda "puttied" the cut shut.

Sounds familiar - last Sunday I was putting down linoleum tiles in a laundry room and I slit a fingertip with a linoleum cutter. (like a boxcutter but 10 times as sharp) Luckily no stitches, but yeah it soaked some paper towels before it quit.

It occurred to me that I've left at least a little bit of blood on every building or house I've ever worked on. Like some kind of ritual I never really intend, but it happens anyway.

565 Over 500, so firearms question for the Horde:

Just saw a pistol in the antique mall that I can't recognize. Heavily nickel plated, rosewood (or maybe red Micarta?) grips, but you can see the nickel-plated frame all the way around. Trigger appears to have been made from a piece of flat metal stock, and is pivoted at some point above the trigger guard; does not project from grip area. Barrel looks like 4 or 5 inches, and has a smooth "figure 8" profile if viewed end-on, with the actual barrel being a little bigger than the tube below. But it all seems to be one piece. Could not see the business end, as it is in a locked cabinet with a sheathed sword covering the muzzle. No name on it, but a serial number stamped on the frame above the trigger guard. Bottom of grip has an opening to insert magazine.

I think it's a real gun, as it looks too heavy and too well made to be a toy. Closest I can come to a look-alike is the Colt 1903 hammerless, but the trigger is different.

Anyone have a clue?

569 You put cardboard in front of the grill usually when its crazy cold so that you have a chance of getting warm air from the cars heater. And when its cold enough the radiator does not need full air flow from the grill to keep the engine from overheating.
Posted by: paleRider at October 17, 2018 04:59 PM (eASYU)

-------------

This only works if you pull the cardboard after the car gets up to temp. I've seen firsthand what happens if you leave it there and drive any distance with it in place. Steam.

Actually, you do that so the water will heat up.

When it's really cold and the radiator is open then the water diverted to the heater doesn't get very warm.

Truckers do it to. In fact Truck manufacturers put vanes in front of the radiators so they can be closed off.

Just remember to take the cardboard out when the weather turns warm.
