A French woman has received a jail sentence after passing herself off as one of the victims of the 2015 Paris terror attacks for financial gain. Alexandra Damien, 33, is to serve six months in prison for fraud and perjury. She was found to have pocketed up to 20,000 euros ($23,180; £17,552) from funds set up for victims in the aftermath of the attacks. Damien also claimed therapy sessions at a hotel in Normandy paid for by the French Association of Terror Victims.
According to the report, the 61-year-old man had been admitted to a hospital at Rochester Regional with cognitive impairment, schizophrenia, and psychosis in 2015; he was also unable to walk under his own power. But there was nothing to be done. Five months after his symptoms began, he died. Judging by his brain scans and other tests, the man had likely come down with variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (vCJD), a form of the rare and universally fatal neurodegenerative ailment.
Voter disenfranchisement? It looks like there are more voters registered than there are eligible voters.
Riddle me this: Why does the United States have has 3.5 million more registered voters than it has living adult citizens? That’s impossible after all the Democrats say there is no reason for Voter ID laws or purging the voter rolls. They anyone who wants to ensure only people who are supposed to vote are allowed to vote are trying to suppress voter turnout. And in a way they are correct, we want to make sure that none of those 3.5 million extra voters get to cast ballots, that would be voter fraud.
A middle school in Virginia has come under fire for an overly-politically correct decision regarding their annual Christmas choir concert. Robious Middle School in Chesterfield notified parents that the upcoming event would do away with Christmas songs containing the word ‘Jesus’ as a means to promote diversity.

Shane Mekeland is running for the House in District 15B, an open seat that includes parts of Benton and Sherburne County. He said that last Friday night, he was "blindsided" by an assailant as he spoke to patrons at a bar and restaurant he wouldn't identify. Benton County Sheriff Troy Heck confirmed Monday that his office is investigating the alleged assault, which Mekeland reported took place between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Friday. Heck said his office interviewed the suspect, whose identity is not being released because he has not been arrested or charged with a crime

A north Alabama burglary suspect was taken into custody after bathing, washing clothes, clipping his toenails and cooking in a stranger’s house, authorities said. Limestone County investigators said Tyler Keefe Love “made himself at home” in a woman’s house on the 25000 block of Davis Avenue on Tuesday. The woman wasn’t home at the time but returned to find Love in her house, said sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Young. “What are you doing in my home?” the woman shouted at Love, according to the sheriff’s office. Love replied, “Washing clothes, Grandmama,” according to investigators.
A fugitive in western Pennsylvania was no match for a 4-year-old. Sheriff's deputies in Westmoreland County were searching for 24-year-old Jesse Vaughn Lawson last week on an arrest warrant for burglary and receiving stolen property.

In any event, Schweikart and his folks did a very deep analysis of where they went wrong and adjusted their methodology. We're talking about over 20 years of voter data here folks. Fast forward to 2016, Schweikart and his team UNDERESTIMATED Trump's support in OH by like 4-5 points. Many party switchers in OH. (hint, hint, Trump's trade message really fucking works in the midwest).
The only question that remains is whether normal Democrat voters who switched to Trump in 2016 will stick with the GOP. I could expect in union bastions that the GOP folks could lose 2-3 points based on traditional Dems going back home for an off election year.
These fucking cucks still can't take Trump's winning message in these districts and figure out how to embrace it and come out a winner. The Lamb/PA race was a key example of that fact.

I know this can be difficult to do but most cases we see in the news could have easily been avoided and as soon as you see someone videoing you, you should realize you've got trouble and take steps to cover yourself. (get out your own phone. Call a witness. Call the cops (that's tricky). Walk away and then come back and observe. Ignore them. don't confront then observe or video.
Have to have situational awareness these days. Certain things should set off alarms that that situation is trouble.

As a Canadian I always thought "American Cheese" was real cheese, but kind of bland, like brick cheese. That pre-sliced stuff is known to me as "process cheese" or "processed cheese food". They call it "food" so it doesn't get mistaken for strip caulk, I guess. WE have it in Canada, too. I have always used real Cheddar for making grilled cheese sammiches. It's the only way to fly.

my mom ate it.....when i was in 6th grade there was some extra gov't cheese that made it's way by truck to the town library.....all the moms called each other and met at the library to get a brick....it was free cheese....my mom loved cheese....she brought it home.....and then proceeded to spend the next few months eating it...i remembered it get moldy....she just cut off the moldy parts and off and ate it anyway....we weren't rich but we weren't on the dole either......my dad was pissed that she got it....i don't think he ate any of it....she may have just been eating it to spite him....gov't cheese....

depends on what flavor it is. I'm not big on plain 'ol American slices, but I do enjoy some pepper jack slices now and then.
I especially enjoy the Sam's Club Ghost Pepper slices (although despite the name they're not very spicy at all in reality). Inexpensive at Walmart, and make a nice tasty snack that I assume isn't too horrible for me.

He did manage to kill a moose with a .22, which is tricky.

The Navy does/did that all the time.
RE: '60's all missile screening force.
They built Missile Frigates with NO primary cannon. They had 3"-50's for small boat defense (hah they still had to mount 50 cals when they deployed to VietNam due to Patrol Boat Threats)
They first built them with missile launchers fore and aft. When they realized this was a big mistake they then took one launcher away and put in a 5"-54's.
Then they realized that being aluminum above decks made the thing a floating target they went to the smaller frigates with the turbine engines that could actually act as escorts.
Once the Chair Admirals get an idea it's tough to make them give it up.
I refer also to the Battleships. What a waste of time, money and steel. But boy they sure looked powerful. Until it was time to fight.

I developed a taste for hot stuff as I aged. I can't fix collard greens the way I like them either since I can't use that little pepper I used to boil them with anymore. They need a little help.

Explained multiple time in the past, but most polls can be ignored. Only a few outfits have results that are close to reality.
Rasmussen is one of them, showing D+1 in likely voter generic preference. That isn't enough, due to the way the districts are currently set up, they need D+5 or more to flip the house. Ras also shows Trump approval at 49%, high enough to keep this from being a "change" election.
Also saw discussion regarding voter fraud. That will not be a factor, since running up the score in blue district doesn't help someone else win a swing district.
There is a benefit to fraud on the Senate, but that can only help Casey in PA and Nelson in FL. No other senate races are susceptible to the problem.
So watching polls is a waste of energy. In the past, wave elections could be seen coming. There were real facts on the ground that drove for a change. The facts on the ground this time around drive for retaining the status quo. Unless there is going to be a giant groundswell of happy prosperous employed people turning to vote against Trump 2 years after voting for him, there won't be a wave.
The other possibility is the the Dems turn out their base at a rate higher than their huge 2016 turnout, despite never having ever turned out their base in an off year election.

Actually, no, they couldn't. The Libyan Raid still stands as the longest Tac Air mission on record, something like fourteen hours or such IIRC. It's in Wiki, but I'm not gonna look it up.
That's at likely a 550 mph max-efficiency cruise speed, with no small number of aerial refueling events all along the route.

F-111s certainly were maintenance pigs. But beautiful, graceful, capable and very deadly pigs, when put onto the right mission.

The park rangers hated him, certainly. There really aren't any Alaska Natives to speak of in the park -- it's about the size of Connecticut (smallish, for an Alaska park), and has no permanent human inhabitants. The borough (like a county) the park is in is the size of West Virginia and has only 1,600 people. More of them are Yupik Eskimos than Indians.

My husband makes tombstones. Years ago, if I didn't have to work, I'd go out in the setting truck with him to all these small cemeteries scattered around. It was so horrible to see Mama and Papa's big tombstones with a long line of baby markers strung out next to them. Some kids were stillborn, some lived a couple of days or weeks or months. Some actually made it to seven or eight years. Then there were all the tombstones set out for the individuals who died during the Spanish flu.
It has only been since WW II and the creation of penicillin and the other "miracle" drugs that people have begun to take it for granted that all of their children will safely out live them.
But I have confidence that Mother Nature will win in the end.

I think that whenever I hear people say parents should never outlive their children. It was actually not an uncommon occurrence for parents to outlive a child in the past. Because of all the diseases, b/c of no antibiotics, bcz of poor hygeine...a lot of things.

Well, this particular app has access to your name, and the names of all your contacts, as well as all of your party registrations and voting information.
But the left-wing political organization that developed this won't use all of that highly valuable information for any other purpose - swearizes!
I think that Republicans have tried this approach in mailers to an extent, but they've gotten more pushback for using this tactic. Funny thing, that.
The next step is to get real-time information about whether you've voted in the **current** election. Mail-in ballots just went out in Oregon, and every couple of days, the secretary of state's office provides electronic lists of who has voted, and who hasn't, which the campaigns use to target people who haven't voted. I'm sure by 2020, that little app will provide that information as well.
Hopefully, being constantly hectored to vote by the D's will backfire.

Oregon may have other problems, but at least in a vote-by-mail system, every ballot is cast by people making marks with ink on a piece of paper.
You can rig the vote tabulators, of course, but at least in theory the paper ballots are still available to be recounted if the vote tabulators are suspect.

At craft breweries, a normal/logical question from the staff will often be "so what kind of beer do you like?". "Um ..... from your lightest lager to your Russian Imperial stout, with coffee? ..... does that help?"
Lately, for grilled cheese (in a pan, on stove), I think I've used smoked gouda, pepper jack, cheddar, some times a mix. With good wheat bread, dang good.

i have pics of me injured, and statements from family members that i needed treatment (mysteriously, no one seems to be able to find those records in my files, and this was before making copies of things was easy, even if there had been local access to my health records) i was on LOD for months, with multiple treatment visits. it was even a state/DC issue, since my initial treatment was denied by the Navy, since there was a question of who would pay, so i wound up at the LAAFS clinic, out by LAX (now LAAFB).
you would think there'd be something, somewhere, but nope.
VA doc said my theory as to the source of the problem was logical, but the official VA review just told me to FOAD, no explanation or even discussion of my offerings of proof.

I popped zinc lozenges as soon as she cam down with it and mine is not too bad.. or.. I got the flu shot weeks ago.. not sure if this is a flu or not..

I tried that at one of my earlier jobs. Got to work at 0600, and tried to leave at 1430. Every day, though, someone would waltz into my office at 1415 with a task that just had to be done right now, because so-and-so was going to stay until 1900 to work on it, but could only do his piece if the piece they wanted me to do was done.
And then there were managers who scheduled meetings at 1600. "It's the only time I could find when everyone is free."

As with most government bureaucracies, when they realized there wasn't any reason for them to exist anymore they started redefining the mission.
When you see a statistic like "100 million Americans went hungry last year" the way they define it is you went to be hungry at least once in the entire year. That's how you get 400 pound people listed as "hungry".
