Weird: The Most Super-Duper TruPrinciplesOfFreedom Conservatives Can't Help Themselves From Offering Democrats Their Expert (TM) Advice on How to Win the Midterms

It's almost as if -- and try to stay with me here, because this is gonna get a little twisty -- they're actually Democrats trying to help their fellow Democrats win an election.

Posted by: J.J. Sefton at October 16, 2018 06:14 PM (/9p9e)

32 Well, all the people cited are idiots, ace, in a practical sense, so whether they're Dems or just grifting "conservatives" is kind of immaterial.

And good ol' Nichols continues to live in an alternative universe, one where the Dems need a "competitive message".

To "compete" with what, exactly, on the GOP side?

GOP "message" resolves to "don't vote for the other guys, they're crazy". Which is of course true.

But irrelevant. I think this cycle the GOP has finally managed to get back to their zero message/zero commitments model, they were dragged kicking and screaming away from in '10 and '14 (when under great duress they issued a weak program, all of which they did little to advance once they won, of course).

Oh, but not to worry - Rep McCarthy just introduced a bill to secure the border. In October 2018. Investigators are still looking into why this wasn't done in January, 2017, with a new president in the WH chomping at the bit to sign such a bill.

I'm sure we'll be kept up to date on the investigation.

It's actually funny, the story (not covered here) about how Dem candidates have been told to steer clear of immigration issues. Well, duh.

It's almost - almost - as if "immigration issues", um, decisively favor the Dems' opponents.

Yet, mysteriously ..... the GOP has strenuously avoided "immigration issues", as well! In an election cycle. Where they could own the issue. Which cuts across party lines.

Well let's break it down. A quarter is 3 months. And to be simple we'll just go with 30 days each. So that's 90 days. Eliminate Sundays for simplicity so 6 days a week, we'll figure 77 days where she's traveling around needing those.

So she's spending less than $100 a day in the quarter using them.

Last night I had the most bizarre experience with an Uber driver -- something that's never happened to me before. uber has always worked problem-free for me, until this happened:

I got in the car just as the sun was starting to set. I get in, and the driver says as we pull into traffic, "Do you have lights in your neighborhood?" Me: "Lights" Like street lights?" Her: "Yeah -- 'cause I ain't driving in no dark at night. Nuh uh. No way. Them twisty roads in the dark -- count me out!" Me: Well, there are some lights. But it hasn't gotten dark yet, so I think we'll be OK."

So we drive fro a while, and then she gets a notice from the Uber app to pick up another "Pool" rider. But instead of picking him up, she pulls over ("I ain't talking while I'm driving -- no way!"), calls him, asks him if he's "on a dark street," he describes a street in a nearby rural area, and she tells me, "I aint' driving there in no dark! Sorry, honey, I;'m canceling your ride!" The she hangs up and cancels him, and spends the next five minutes ranting about how rude he was to summon her to a dark area.

AND THEN, when we're still about a mile and a half from my destination, she just pulls over on a rando, corner, and says, ""It's gettin' dark honey. I ain't driving up there in the dark. You gots to get out! I'm going back!"

So basically she kicked me out in the middle of nowhere.

I had to walk the rest of the way, but luckily it was close enough and not so bad.

I gave her a four-star rating, instead the standard five-star, (four-star is like a "C"), and then complained on the app that I "was not dropped off at my destination."

mercifully, Uber immediately refunded the cost of the trip, so it ended up costing me nothing.

But damn -- talk about an attitude!

Yikes. I've had one or two less-than-stellar experiences in an Uber -- one in Charlotte, NC and another in Boston.

Neither was that bad though!

The guy in Charlotte was just rude, blasting the radio with subs all the way up the entire time. And the guy in Boston got in a big argument with me and my buddy when we didn't want to take our shoes off before getting in to his car.

Controlling the movement of goods, services, and people is essential to making a command economy work, to the extent it ever works. It's one reason the USSR had internal passports: if you don't control such movement, you can't fix prices, because goods, services, and people will move in response to market forces, and cause shortages in places where the price is fixed too low for the conditions in that place.

Solution? Impede that movement.

That's my guess as to why the Reds here want trains. One official on a platform ("papers, please") can control the movement of a whole bunch of people. If they had cars, there's no way to keep track of them and control them all.

271 Am I the only that noticed the beginning of Hillary Clinton's bid for the Presidency in 2020 in the past two weeks?

(1) Bill and Hillary announce fund raising campaign in the form of nationwide pay-to-play sit and greets with the Clintons.

(2) Matthew Walther's pro-Hillary 2020 puff-piece article yesterday in The Week "How Hillary Clinton could win in 2020."

(3) Monday on Hardball, Dem strategist Steve McMahon says if Biden doesn't run, the Dem field is weak and Clinton could win it.

All of this in the last two weeks. Observing the Clintons for years now, I have learned that NOTHING gets published by the Progressive Media Complex about the Clintons without first clearing it with the Clintons. This seems to be a bright red line in the media worlds. Cuz if you publish without their consent, you get on Hillary's s-hit list.

Gents, this is happening. It's too glorious to comprehend, but it really is happening.

302 Funny thing about Matthew Walther's Pro-Hillary 2020 puff piece. His core thesis is that Hillary is awesome, and she would have won if it weren't for those meddling kids (her advisors).

See, Hillary failed to appeal broadly to the electorate in 2016 because she was held back from being the "real Hillary" by her advisors who recommended that she take positions on issues that she didn't really believe in.

Get it? Probably not yet, because it hasn't yet been repeated every day, all week long, for months (if not years) by every Liberal media personality. But behodl the brilliance! See, Hillary's positions on issues don't need to "evolve" yet again. THIS time, she just has to express her REAL views, like opposition to Kavanaugh, Pro-incivility, abolition of ICE, #MeToooooo! and the forced seizure of Kanye West for mental instability (did I miss any Progressive Topics of the Week (TM)?). Brilliant!
