It's a mess in general, but check out the included definition of "semiautomatic assault rifle":

Any rifle which utilizes a portion of the energy of a firing cartridge to extract the fired cartridge case and chamber the next round, and which requires a separate pull of the trigger to fire each cartridge. "Semiautomatic assault rifle" does not include antique firearms, any firearm that has been made permanently inoperable, or any firearm that is manually operated by bolt, pump, lever, or slide action.

So basically any semi-automatic rifle. Ruger 10/22? Yep, it's a "semi-automatic assault rifle".

Remember when Nikki Haley resigned and she had that lovefest of a presser with Trump? Do you also remember her saying that Jared ( and Ivanka) were the unsung heroes, the "gems" in international relations/foreign policy? The media didn't ask any questions about that and their reporting on the Haley's resignation didn't even (as far as I can tell) mention her kudos to Jared.
So what better way to undercut our relationship with the Saudis and Jared/Ivanka's work there than to shit all over it by acting as though Trump and his people somehow were connected?

251 China looks at these scores and starts to lick their chops, knowing we're ripe for the pillaging.

China has their own problems. Kids over there have cheating down to a science. Also, 99.999% of the people over there couldn't think creatively with a gun to their head. Creativity is pounded out of them from the fetal stage onward. Why is that important? Because the entrepreneurial spirit is what drives new products and markets.

Any time you see big science news out of a Chinese science team or journal, you can immediately ignore it, because it's practically guaranteed to be bullshit.

Also, China's economy is a huge pile of fraud on top of bullshit on top of theft. Any time a big International company wants to invest in a Chinese endeavor, they send teams to go over to check out the Chinese company's financials and operations. It's ALWAYS smoke and mirrors surrounding a second rate operation.

It's SLOWLY getting better, but you have to watch them at every stage. If you're not on top of QCing every single product coming out of Chinese manufacturing, they'll start trying to sneak 1/4 assed products into your supply chain.

How hard is it to change the curriculum back to the basics of readin', writin', and 'rithmetic?

Sure the teacher's unions might howl, but that change should come with a zero tolerance for dissent: "This is what you will teach. If you don't want to teach that, go find something else to do."

I have no idea what the final total was, because I think McCool took care of counting it, but it must have been good because the waitress came back and thanked us, and Iosanas (Or however his nic is spelled; Sorry) said, "Conservatives tip well, Not like leftists." : ) She also said "Good luck on the election." I don't know if that was a polite thing to say because of the tip or she really doesn't want Menenedez to win.

260 BREAKING: Treasury Department Employee Arrested For Leaking Bank Records Of Paul Manafort, Others.

Ashe Schow for DW:

Bloomberg reports that Natalie Mayflower Sours Edwards, senior adviser at Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), has been accused of leaking Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) to an unidentified reporter at Buzzfeed. The information had been written up by the media outlet as recently as Monday, October 15.

"Edwards began communicating with the unidentified reporter in July 2017, according to prosecutors," Bloomberg reported. "Between October 2017 and January 2018, she saved thousands of FinCen files, including all the SARs cited in the case."

Edwards and a "co-conspirator" who is not named in the complaint "exchanged approximately 301 messages with Report-1."

Edwards was arrested Tuesday carrying a flash drive containing the SARs and a phone she used to send the information to the reporter. On Wednesday, she confessed to leaking the reports but "falsely denied" knowing the SARs would be published, the complaint says.

Sadly, not really a surprise. The Community Colleges here (which is where students in that situation probably ought to be) also do a *lot* of remedial courses for incoming students.

Every single GOP candidate for Secretary of State in every single state drools out some stupid statement about how important it is to boost voter turnout.

Bullshit.

Are voters ready for a Trumpian truth-teller running for Secretary of State who discourages uninformed citizens from voting?

Is any country America's friend? I know they like our bribe money, perverse entertainment, and our scantily clad women, but are they our friend? If we're worried about being friends with another country we're going to be real disappointed. I think we should cover America with a dome and just play with ourselves. Honestly, I definitely believed "some" of it. Hell, Roy Moore admitted he did date High School girls in his 30's when he sat down with Sean Hannity.

I just don't care, things were different then, especially in the South. We have all sorts of songs from the 70's about basically "robbing the cradle" it was just looked at differently then.

I think Roy Moore was a creepy, weird guy on a wide range of issues and he never should have been the nominee, but I really don't see how electing a left-wing Democrat fixes any of that.

355 How to explain politics to the politically unaware:

1. In the United States political parties are voluntary associations of like minded people.

2. Good people do not voluntarily associate with evil people.

3. Evil people do not voluntarily associate with good people because being around them reminds them "Oh, that's right, I'm evil."

4. Thus you wind up with a mostly "good party" and a mostly "evil party".

5. Here is a hint as to which is which: The party that owned slaves and celebrates the murder of 50,000,000 babies in the United States since 1973 is probably not the good party.

Did a wire breach with improvised bangalores. That was taking u-shaped fence pickets, packing with C-4, then 100 mph taping them together. Weighed something like 5 times that.a bangalore. Shoving it through the wire was quite a job. Left quite the trench when we set it off, too.
