It seeps into the literature, psychology and sociology departments. It seeps into the administration of the college and then even starts making inroads into the hard sciences.
The only way to stop this academic infringement is to prevent the pseudo subject of "gender studies" from being taught in the first place.

Students today also apparently have enough free cash to buy lots of food from restaurants, whether they are chains or individually owned. Once I was through the freshman year, where we had meal plans at the college cafeteria, I was on my own from then on in apartments, etc with roommates. We almost never ate out . We were broke and had to collaborate to afford a pizza. Grocery store shopping was a once a month deal in which we bought stuff like Kraft macaroni and cheese, hot dogs, ramen noodles, eggs, etc.
Go into any college town today with a variety of better restaurants and you'll be amazed at the number of students eating there.

In the original Cinderella story, the sisters cut off their own toes to try to get their feet to fit the magic slipper - and still the shoe does not fit. I'm kinda glad the Disney movie didn't show that little detail, when I saw the movie as a child, but you can say that the original Grimm Bros. tale illustrates a harsh reality of life - the self-destructiveness of people overcome with greed and spite. I don't think the stories were originally intended for little kids.

Same here. Because of family history my wife has to do the colon inspection thing every five years. When asked what prescriptions she took the Drs. were incredulous that she takes none. They never had anyone who took none in the age bracket that's getting the inspection.
Lord knows the Drs. try to convince her she has high blood pressure. But she has a personal cuff, backed up with written recorded history, backed up by nurse reports who take the test and verify the cuff -- especially by established protocols -- which show her at a regular average 120/80 or less.
Anyone who has a Dr. trying to push the high BP angle -- should look at the protocols for taking the test. Memorize them. They cheat all the time.

Also, if you dare to rewatch the film (which is frankly, awful), check out the uniform Nick Searcy is wearing. The ribbons are arranged in reverse order, not just random. Which means it was deliberate (I'm virtually certain that Searcy didn't realize this).
Rather like John Sayles does in every flick that has military uniforms, he has them pinned on upside down, and that's by Sayles' order. He's spoken about this in a couple of interviews.

Yeah, it's definitely doing better than I expected. I figured it would hurt at the box-office, because half of the country are Moloch worshippers and won't watch it - it has messaging that runs counter to NPC logic controls.
The other half are sufficiently disgusted by Gosnell that many will pass on it for aesthetic reasons - I have a friend in this camp.
So I figured it would not do as well as it has.

Its sort of hilarious that she thinks people need to be reminded of this. Are her readers insane or just drooling cretins unable to comprehend their own nature?
The other half are sufficiently disgusted by Gosnell that many will pass on it for aesthetic reasons - I have a friend in this camp.
It definitely has selective appeal. A trial movie isn't up my alley, and details about a monster's evil deeds aren't exactly something I'm a fan of either.

I had an acquaintance in DC who was a gay actor (he had to do part-time office work to make ends met and that's how we met. He was a helluva nice guy too). He was in an Arena Stage production and invited me to a party at his place. It was sort of interesting to see the gender segregation that developed during the course of the party. The (mostly) gay men gathered together in the living room and told a lot of little inside jokes and made you feel pretty unwelcome if you joined them. I ended up in the kitchen chatting with the women - who were really a pretty nice bunch. This was in the early '90's and nobody brought up politics at all. I assume that 99.9 percent of them were "progressive" and yet the party ended up being like many social gatherings I attended as a kid - guys in the living room, women hanging out in the kitchen. The few straight men there eventually ended up in the kitchen, hitting on the women. I have found that while gay men can be quite friendly to women on a one-to-one basis, they are pretty exclusionary once they are in a pack.

It's pretty much a case of preaching to the converted. I almost never go to movies, and if I were to go, I would go to a comedy, or a big splashy adventure like Raiders... Why would I go to a movie that tells me what I already know about Gosnell?
And all the pro-aborts out there will avoid seeing the movie at all, or else go with the sole purpose of trying to find one tiny mistatement of fact.
Frankly, I think the makers of the movie made a big mistake to pitch it as a documentary, and entitle it "Gosnell". They should have made it ostensibly as a fictional whodunit, or even as a horror movie, but made every single scene in the film accurately portray facts from Gosnell's trial. Get the public talking about the sensational new thriller, and then let some talking head "discover" that it is just a fictionalized rendering of what really happened.

I wish Gosnell had done better. I've seen a few adds on tv (well Fox). It looks well made. I guess not enough people care.
I saw it on Saturday. Good movie, even though the subject matter is forbidden by the left. Plays like a "Law Order" episode. I think people are avoiding it thinking it will be ...horrid. It told me nothing I did not already know about abortion. So, it does make you revisit that knowledge. Which is unpleasant to say the least. What struck me, was how the judge of the Grand Jury and the one presiding over the case push the meme "Abortion is not on trial here." Worth seeing.

Yeah... it has definitely caused some outbreaks, but it seems that modern historians try to explain all of the mass-hysteria that ever happened by it. It's convenient, and you don't have to analyze for uncomfortable root causes of events.

That reminds of something. There are a lot of movie people here. There was an indie art-flick from the 70s. It was gross and pretty disturbing, but well put together - it follows an urban black worker (I think in Philadelphia or Chicago) through his day at an industrial abbatoir.

Yeah, dust fires are a real thing -- that's why the NY subway system has giant vacuum / air filter trains that ride the tracks at night and try to remove some of the dust.

I'm on a Paleo diet so grains are pretty much the Debil hisself. Any excuse I can find to stay away from them I will.
The side effects of this diet are really annoying. Having to look at the numbers on the scale continually drop, month after month without end. Watching my ribs appear, and delineation of abdominal muscles.
It's horrifying.

In my opinion that and recent attempts at cosmology are perfect illustrations of the point we've reached. Scientists are unable to know anything more about some topics, and they are starting to build theories upon guesses upon speculations based on extremely limited and confusing data we don't know enough about or have enough of to conclude from.
Its like the old concepts of bodily humors or the philosopher (can't remember his name) who believed that ants came from dust. That's what seemed to be true, based upon limited observation and misunderstood data, and speculation.

I wouldn't wait for that. Our best philosophical concepts are still 2,000 years old, and a lot of them are a lot older than that. Perhaps the biggest advance we could make was to burn or delete everything that has been written in the name of "Philosophy" starting the year before Nietzche was born.

Even though I'm an ardent pro-lifer who followed the Gosnell case closely, I only went to the movie because I ADORE Andrew Klavan, and he wrote the screenplay, so I knew it would be great. Plus, I wanted to show my support, with my dollars, for righteous movies in general and Andrew Klavan in particular.
I live in a rural area, so the nearest theater was a 2-hour drive, and it was raining all the way there, and snowing on the way back. But it WAS worth it, and I do recommend it. The writing, acting, and camerawork were all absolutely top-notch. A riveting story, well done, that just moved right along.
I didn't realize beforehand that one of the actors was AlonZo Rachel, the awesome conservative black YouTube star. I think this was his first feature film role, and he was FANTASTIC. He and Dean Cain play the two detectives on the case, and they were an amazing team. If those two were to make one of those "buddy-cop" movies in the future, I would totally go see it.
