I've been to Kenya, unless they are playing on the glacier on Mount Kilimanjaro on the border, there isn't a place big enough to have an ice ring. Plus there usually isn't enough reliable electricity to make that much ice or keep it frozen.

It was an apocalypse. Even though Cubism existed before WWI (created about 1911/1912), after the War, its flipping of the aesthetic table appealed to those who believed that Western Traditionalism was responsible and it had to be totally exposed and eradicated. Reducing the artistic elements to its most basic ideas: geometric shapes, primary colors, black & white was the visual representation of this idea. Society must be stripped bare and rebuilt on basic socialist principles.

They are from Oklahoma. Those license plates are all over here in NE Texas. I see them every time I go to Sams or Krogers in Sherman, TX.
It wasn't the tag itself (I'd sorta guessed those reservation tags were around anyway), it was the timing of seeing a tag that I'd never seen before that day with the words "Cherokee Nation" right after getting Princess Walking Eagle's genetic results back.
Too many coincidences right in a row. It just struck me as being a little bit strange for some reason.

I also found that line confusing at first. Here are several explanations:
1) Science shows that Asia and the Americas were connected several times for many thousands of years in recent geogical history. Traveling across the land bridge was merely an expansion, like traveling from Oklahoma to Kansas.
2) People emigrated from Asia to the Americas in waves over a long period of time. They often did not share the same genetics. Newer peoples often replaced older peoples. Thus, no one can really be said to be truly indigenous.

Solid analysis. Had not thought of looking at this from a pure "registration coupled with ballot requests and early voting trends only" point of view. Needless to say - if Rs are outperforming in these areas over an election year it points to a very favorable trend for Rs and a possible ( hidden?) rejection by the electorate of the politics of division, race, mob rule and hatred being espoused by the dems/leftards (I know the left and MSM is saying conservs/Rs are doing all this but it is obvious projection).
I have been pointing at the early vote totals in Florida as an example but this is expanding it all over the place and finding that trend in other areas as well. I also note that the DNC is pouring money into New Jersey, of all places, although I find that has more to do with Menendez himself, who is a demonstrably morally repugnant child molester and corruptocrat on a grand scale (which is personal to him and not part of a trend). Similarly - I do not agree with the correlation between the Senate and House as there are too many geographic issues at play, and local issues, in House races ( for example - look at the gerrymandering in Pennsylvania by Democrats on the State Supreme Court). That being said - I like the trend and I agree that the disgusting politics of personal destruction unleashed by power hungry Democrats on an honorable, distinguished, and kind, family man such as Kavanaugh, by a suborned perjury leftist plant (Blasey Ford) was extremely distasteful to the average American, and enraging to those of us to the right who stand for the rule of law, honor, decency and the Constitution.
Again - all Winston Wolfe rules apply here - but I am liking the trend. Not a preference cascade yet, perhaps, but a definite flow in that direction.
Now if Republican GOPe's can shut their f*cking mouths for the next few weeks we might just see a very solid majority of both houses delivered to Trump in the run up to election year 2020.
Oh and Trump - not like previous R presidents - is an asset on the campaign trail and a tireless worker. More Rs should be standing proudly with him and telling the MSM to f*ck off.

No, the standard theory is (was) that Amerinds wandered over the land bridge (or ice bridge) during the last ice age.
The cultural core is considered to be the Clovis Culture because the oldest artifacts were found in Clovis, New Mexico and date from 12 or 14 thousand years ago.

So theories go in and out of fashion. My theory is that people have always gone as far as they can, boats helped the process, and there has always been intermingling between the different kinds of human because humans like sex.

I prefer Kandinsky's use of primary colors.
There's something about the combination of hard lines and sharply defined, regular shapes with bright colors that annoys me. It's too much.
That's just personal taste though. I agree that Leger uses color skillfully, with nice compositional balance.

Art supposed to be beautiful. Beauty does elicit an emotional response. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, true, but we know it when we see it, don't we.
Making something beautiful is not something just any old artist can do. So, they settle for making something else -- statements. That's not art as much as it is commercial illustrating . . .
YMMV. I know what I like and what I like looks like something my kid isn't able to do in art class at school.

The colors for the days of the week? I guess I was about 7 or 8, maybe 9. Possibly some of the color assignments were inspired by TV shows, even though we only had a B W TV: I think Zorro, for instance, was on Thursday, and of course he wore black and rode a black horse.
I don't recall if I ever heard the term "blue Monday" back then. As far I remember, I pictured the blue as a sky color, not a dark blue.

Even going over an ice cap (which would have extended down to where Labrador is now at that time) was possible in the summer, when temperatures weren't too brutal. Ancient explorers would have hugged the coast line, using small boats made of animal skins and hunting the plentiful seals they would have encountered. Each evening they could put in and make fires for warmth from the seal blubber they would have had in abundance. It's easy to see men (who would have appeared much like the Inuit) making 20 miles a day that way, and they could make 2000 miles over a summer.

I think when it comes to the type of modern art you're referencing, one is also inclined to appreciate the art of someone who displays a level of talent in producing the work.
Does it take skill to can your own feces and then call it art vs. a detailed painting, one in a million photo, or intricately pieced quilt. I respect and appreciate skill over chutzpah.

So the reigning theory was that the Clovis people walked over from Asia -- regular homo sapiens sapiens -- and spread out and diversified.
Now there's more evidence that they didn't just walk across, they took boats along the edge of a shoreline or ice line, which if you're a boat person makes sense.
Also, and this is where things get problematic for the One Wave Clovis explanation, there is increasing evidence of sites predating Clovis by tens of thousands of years. There are supposed to be footprints on a Carolinas beach from 50,000 years ago. There's plausible evidence that Polynesians made it to South America pre-Clovis.

Subjectively speaking: crazy people would prefer things that normies would not prefer. When the culture goes crazy, a large enough market develops so as to incentivize the production of an aesthetic that appeals to crazy. Of course marketing, as we know, can create demand artificially.
Culture shifted, opened a window for the crazy aesthetic. Since the crazy aesthetic is easier and cheaper to produce, the marketers were incentivized to build demand for crazy aesthetic. Spiral downward... Why do people begin to prefer the non beautiful . . . jaded, awash in profane, develop a taste for it.

Yes, but "settled" doesn't have to mean Tribe A stayed in one place and then Tribe A-1, their descendants, moved 10 miles down the plain. Seems to me I've read that if a band or tribe moved only 100 miles a year, 2 miles a week, they could have gone from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego in the period you mention.

The Fed has been raising rates somewhat gradually the Trump economy made it possible, but they are goosing it this time to spook the markets and the voters and cast doubt on Trump's successes. It's part of the October Surprise intended to throw the elections to the Dems.
Recall that the 2007 crash was managed so that it would happen just before elections to damage Republican chances.

It might have been easier for an experienced group of hunters to go by boat but not easier for families to do so. A land bridge makes more sense, especially if you're bringing the wife and kids.

They are not 'good' but they are 'well'. Meaning well-executed. Some of it, even most of it, is well-shot. It has "thrilling" action and hooah motivated soldiers. Often it has gratuitous hot chicks the director has dicked.
Michael Bay is NOT a bad director. The man has talent, especially visually.
I don't like the Transformers product but it is produced well.

I've thought about that, but I think the inland predators such as wolves and big cats would have presented a substantial threat to the children, women and any domesticated animals they would have brought. A coastal watercraft would have allowed the family to travel, escape the threats, make land frequently and transport (rather than tote) possessions and domesticated animals over great distances.

I favor it because I think it's a wonderful explanation for episode known as the "Younger Dryas" - basically the Ice Age ended, things started to get warm, and suddenly the Ice Age kicked back in and everything froze up for another thousand years, and then it thawed again. There's no good theoretical explanation for why that happened, although there are a lot of theories.
It also would explain why the extinction of the megafauna was more severe and more total in North America than it was anywhere else on the globe.

"How do you pay for medicare for all Beto?" "First let's discuss the goal!" was his 90 second meandering answer.
"Senator Cruz?" "Well if you tax every person making over $1 million/year at 100% it would fund Medicare for All for about 5 months out of the year, Medicare for all is a talking point".
"Beto, you've called for abolishing ICE", "Actually I said replace ICE with more customs officers at the ports of entry!"
"Mr Cruz what do you say to that?" "Build the wall, increase interior enforcement, prosecute VISA overstays and target very illegal alien with every agency of law enforcement we have and of course increase the ICE task force".

Willow, I've struggled with that question. Thanks for asking.
First of all, I am afraid to annoy the person cutting my hair. I could switch barbers, but she is a long-time friend in my husband's work and social circles and also cuts my husband's hair. She understands my type of hair really well and she is virtually irreplaceable.
Secondly, I am profoundly deficient in the persuasive arts. It's not that I can't make a logical case; it's that I can't make a case to illogical people. I'm the reverse-Pied-Piper.
Thirdly, I suspect that these ladies' commitment to their ideology is beyond reason. Part of it is belonging to their group and anyone breaking away would risk social isolation. Independent thought is very socially expensive.
What I have told my barber is that I miss the days when people could share opinions without the giving and taking of offense and that while I knew we had different views, I believed she had good intentions in her views. We both want what's best, but we have different ideas of what would bring it about.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. Different parties, different routes. If the land bridge was ice-free, than chances are the whole Arctic coast may have been ice-free. They could have followed the
Arctic coast to the mouth of the Mackenzie river, and then follwed that upstream deep into North America.
