Texts Show Disagreement Among Allegedly-Unified Intelligence Community Members on Russian Interference; Some Dismissed Accusations as Coming from Those "With Partisan Axes to Grind"

But I thought they were unanimous and the evidence was unquestionable.

Strangely enough, some of these concerns were voiced by... Peter Strzok, who is himself an intense partisan, but who apparently found some partisans too partisan.

For most of the past two years, the U.S. intelligence community has presented a united front on all the key conclusions in the January 2017 report that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election.

Now, congressional investigators have unearthed text messages and emails showing the FBI feared there were some in the intelligence community with "partisan axes to grind" and suggesting there could be no singular conclusion that Moscow wanted to help elect Donald Trump.

For instance, then-FBI agent Peter Strzok's text and email messages in December 2016 and January 2017 show his boss feared that giving some classified information to the White House, then-Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper and the larger intelligence community in the final days of the Obama administration might result in political abuse.

...

Just before Christmas in 2016, as Trump was preparing to assume the presidency, Strzok and Page texted sentiments of concern that there was some conflicts between classified intelligence and the information already in the intelligence community.

Those conflicts, they feared, would surface as the FBI made its final contribution to the intelligence community report on Russia meddling.

Maybe demanding that she testify would be akin to rape, as is claimed of another leftwing ringer.

The entire "intelligence community" is worried about a repeat of the NSA's little Shamrock issues from the '40s-'70s.

Basically the FBI was ordered to arrest NSA agents for violating US law by intercepting communications. Everyone backed down, hearings were held, etc.

But that kind of shit scares our IC, because they know they routinely violate black letter statute as part of their jobs.

So, yeah, I can see why FBI agents would be like, "er... you know, guys, let's tread lightly here. We don't want to piss off anyone in government TOO much, because, well, jail."

3. He didn't have sex with a woman until he was 39 in 1971. His first time? Victoria Principal

Posted by: grammie winger at September 21, 2018 01:22 PM (lwiT4)

You mean after the nomination gets out of committee? It'll really depend on how many procedural hoops the Dems want the GOP to jump through.

Let's say the Dems want the run the gamut. Let's also say Kavanaugh gets out of committee on Monday. Cloture would be filed on Tuesday. The cloture vote would be on Thursday, one hour after the Senate convenes, so it could happen as early as 1 a.m. If they got cloture, then the Dems would have to decide whether to fold or make the 30 hours of debate time run. If it's the latter, he would be confirmed Friday evening or early Saturday.
At any point in the process the Dems could fold and let the confirmation vote happen, knowing it would be a waste of time to stall the inevitable.

Does every family want to live this way? Because it's not fun.

-----

Ya know... I'm used to the routine. When a Democrat is going to lose, the polls show the race as neck-and-neck, to motivate Dems, and discourage (R)s.

Then, if this hasn't worked, about 2-3 weeks before go time, they show the (R) pulling ahead rapidly, to preserve their "accuracy" — as if we won't notice the legerdemain.

This time, they're doing it a couple of months out from the election. Makes me think the twerp is going to get blown out of the water come November.

There will be no attempt to ever put Ford on the stand after that.

The way the true believers and the sjw snowflakes are wailing and gnashing there teeth at just a hint, a start at what will come. The states have seen a wave from the right side, culminating in the election of president Trump. If Trump can't get it done, He can get the party started and the next guy can do even more. The ball has started to roll, the momentum has been overcome. Then the wailing and crying out from the left will be epic. Trump and what he has done so far is just the start. 399 I am only sure that one country, or region more specifically, that interfered in the 2016 presidential election.

Of the 20-40M illegal aliens within the US, most from Latin America, approximately 17% voted in 2016.

Why are we not investigating that? Don't 3-6M illegal votes matter a bit more then $100K in facebook ads?

402 Strangely enough, some of these concerns were voiced by... Peter Strzok, who is himself an intense partisan, but who apparently found some partisans too partisan.
---
I think it's like this. Strzok was okay with lying to the public about Trump's involvement with Russia, but he resisted polluting the *inside* knowledge base with partisan distortions.

"Deceiving the public"--by omission--is part of the job.

Even misleading the public might be called for at times. I think I can see a clear case between stepping over the line in misleading the public and the larger step of polluting the inside understanding with partisan projections.

404 Never a committee guy but most committees have internal rules on scheduling. Think I saw that Judiciary requires ranking member consent to scheduling/re-scheduling hearings with less than ???? days notice. Think it was shorter than a week.

Of course all rules can be bent/ignored by unanimous consent. Senate works, from top to bottom, by unanimous consent - rules actually exist, and can be cited to block/change what others are doing, but even that enforcement is performed by a vote of the body (that is, things can be challenged based on the rules, senators will go up against the parliamentarian on something, and a vote will decide who wins).

Without Byrd, don't think there's been an interesting rules dispute in a long time. I recall an epic one back in the 80s where the issue turned on whether the footnote to a rule in the Senate rules was denoted by an arabic, or roman, numeral.

This actually has substantive importance for interpreting the rules. Byrd challenged parliamentarian based on this, and won. Every eye was on the TV, around the Senate side, for the duration of the dispute. Rare bit of substance and actual drama amidst the everyday political crap.

Him being on the Supreme Court is like opening up a wound on every leftists arm and sprinkling salt directly into it.

Is there a difference in degree between a wet fart and a shart?
Posted by: flounderbot, rebel, vulgarian, deplorabot, winner at September 21, 2018 01:53 PM (5jVnA)

A wet fart is not in fact wet1 but is caused by the muscles forming your anal sphincter rippling at something approximating four times the speed of sound.2

This catastrophic damage to your anus causes what is known in the medical profession as 'nerve confusion.'3 Basically your nerves are completely taken by surprise by your calamitous flatulence and search around for the appropriate reaction to send to your brain. Your pain receptors, which have been temporarily scorched from your body, are of no use so the nerves settle either on a pleasant anaesthetic tingling, or in 90% of cases4 the sensation of wetness.

The nerve endings on your fingers are not so easily fooled however, so upon reaching down to the anus, fully expecting a swampy meatland, perhaps an easy slip inwards as if into a tub of custard or jell-O, you are met with the old familiar sensation of the regretfully shaved, but still entirely intact and suitably humid -but not wet- anus that you know and love.

I am not a scientist.

469 If Trump can't get it done, He can get the party started and the next guy can do even more. The ball has started to roll, the momentum has been overcome. Then the wailing and crying out from the left will be epic. Trump and what he has done so far is just the start. That is the best part of the tears of a snowflake.

The only problem with this scenario is that if Trump doesn't get it done, the fair weather Trumpers will go back to their "Nobody loves me, I can't do anything, I'll just eat some worms." I'm hopeful, but God must love stupid people, because there's so many of them.

If they succeed, slander will be the new standard tactic. We had a chance to shut this down with Roy Moore and didn't. He was a creep, so we let him take it on the chin.

Now we're dealing with the consequences of that choice. False accusers feel emboldened when they claim a scalp. We can't let them get another.

----------

Moore and Kavanaugh are not the first time this has been tried by the Dems. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. They tried it with Thomas - fail. They tried it with Bush - fail.

I think Kavanaugh will make it through but this bending over backwards to have a hearing is getting troublesome. My confidence is waning - though I am still confident.

Same with Kav. Dems have been planning this since fucking 2012 with the bullshit psychiatrist notes. They probably have a version of those notes for 20 other notable judges.

Compare that to the response from doddering Grassley. Totally unprepared. It's like watching the Patriots play a high school team.

488 Let's see. Hillary, DNC, IC and Fusion collude with Russia via Steele. Hillary and Uranium 1. The Podesta lobbying group lobbying on behalf of Russia. Russia buying FB ads agitating for conservative and leftist rallies. No evidence of "hacking" voting machines, on the contrary, the Wisconsin recount showing evidence of Mexican collusion for Hillary. No evidence of collusion with Assange or that Assange's leaks were due to anything other than Podesta's stupidly using "p@$$word" as his password. Merkel "meddling" in our elections via donations and Obama "meddling" in Israel's. And yet this nonsense continues.
