The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"Let's not go back to the old ways. I'm talking about these hippy-dippy types who style themselves 'pagans' who think we should regress back to the days when we all lived under a benificent matriarchy where everybody was happy and groovy and smoked pot all day and there were no wars or fighting. They actually believe this. But of course, it wasn't that way at all. There weren't any matriarchies, but there was a lot of fighting and wars and blood, not to mention human sacrifice. And would they really like to live in a culture with religious ceremonies wherein metal idols were superheated by fire and then infant children were placed alive in their arms to be burned to death to appease the gods? Is that what they want? No, of course it isn't, but there is a big reason why such practices are now nothing but distant specks in history's rear view mirror. It starts with the letter 'C'. The smelly hippie pagans hate it and curse it mightily, but they can only do so because they were born in a culture which is permeated by its norms and values. They're too ignorant to know how much of this is coloring their view of what they think paganism is. Or was. But it's not, and never was. So as I said, let's not go back there again. It's a brutal, barbaric place that we're well rid of."

Of course. One is a noble part of Western history - a part in which the evil patriarchs fought each other to the death, buried slavery in the civilized world once and for all, and then came back together to win the future - and the other is devil-worship. Obviously, anyone who hates Western culture and civilization (that is, leftists) will be fully tolerant of the latter and fully intolerant of the former.

65 This got a bit willowed on the last thread, but Kavanaugh is toast, and we're now in the "confirmation theater" part of the show. From the last thread:

Flake, Collins, Murkowski, and Sasse are all NOs, they just won't say it yet. But there won't be a humiliating vote. Only a withdrawn nomination.

And mark my words, this is only partially about the Supreme Court itself. The purpose of this exercise is to send a clear message to future nominees: "Don't accept a SCOTUS nomination from Trump, or we will end your professional life." This is still about isolating and delegitimizing this President. And there are plenty of GOP critters willing to help.

Actually that isn't clear.

We don't have records of matriarchies - but in a number of early patriarchal civilizations there are claims they were proceeded by matriarchies.

Of course since the patriarchal civilizations invented, basically everything, we'll have to take their word for it. And yes according to them matriarchies almost universally believed in infanticide.

More like a "Bad Cop" to the divine "Good Cop". He says "non serviam", but he serviams anyway most of the time. Cf. Job, the temptations of Christ, etc. I personally imagine him more as a surly servant than a fallen angel, given the way things tend to play out.

*WE* are the Bad Guys. Humanity is the real source of evil. Satan says "I will not serve", but does his duty anyway. We say "I will serve", and then we don't do doodily squat.

2 different things if I'm not mistaken. 2 snakes is caduceus, 1 is the staff. They've been used for different reasons, over time (commerce, printer's marks). But here, I think this is their way of saying "SCIENCE!!1!" as in our culture it's US medical organizations. My step bro who does med evac had a red cross on the tail of one of his planes until the red cross sent a cease and desist, so he changed it to a caduceus.

The original thought on the medical end was that it's really a guinea worm, not a snake - which gets removed by winding the worm around a stick after an incision is made in the victim's skin.

(1) Most people are effectively judgment-proof, meaning they don't have enough assets to make suing them make any financial sense.

(2) Suing means being the plaintiff and assuming the burden of proof. How do you prove, even by a preponderance of the evidence, that you didn't do something 30 years ago? It'd just be a swearing match, and there's really no telling how that comes out before a jury.

Suing this lady would be like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

Oops.

Even though I doubt Kav is sunk - mostly for the wrong reasons, the GOP will be be terrified of incumbents being punished by voters for letting this work - if he is, aren't there much scarier (i.e. even better) nominees on Trump's list?

Pick their worst nightmare (i.e. an actual judge, who understands the court's very limited role), and let the fun begin. 184 Credibility should be judged by details, motive to lie, opportunity, consistency of statement over time, acts consistent with known character, existence of verifiable facts, and corroboration -- at the very least.

On my scale, her story fails on all of these.
I rate her story as NOT credible.

I have had a few cases where i defended companies against plaintiffs (women) who it turns out had histrionic personality disorders. The "tell" for me is the precise details and minute descriptions of non-relevant information (i.e. a one piece bathing suit; what song was playing) and the lack of detail on the key issues (the year, place, who was there, etc.).

I had one case where discovery revealed the woman had lied to her husband about being pregnant with twins. She faked the whole thing and went up through the baby shower and then claimed she miscarried. Cray cray.

And When she is proven a liar, Shapiro will just say, well looky looky, I was wrong, and he'll move on.

But unless by "credible" he means only that her story cannot be immediately disproven by verifiable facts,
then I disagree with him.

A building in Thermopolis, Wyoming has reverse swastikas running along the top of the building. They have a sign displayed explaining that these symbols predate the Nazis, and the arms point counterclockwise, and are based on old Indian symbols. Not sure they've gotten much of a push to remove them, it being Wyoming and all. Plus it's a very old building.

They are like immature teenagers who want to shock the squares by yelling "satan" at them, dressing goth and getting piercings.

but did we all know this

Blasey Ford's account is also at odds with a therapist's notes from 2012 (coincidentally the same year many thought Kavanaugh would be Romney's pick for Supreme Court), which details that four men were in the room when she was allegedly assaulted, vs. just Kavanaugh and another teenager, Mark Judge.

HIS denial is credible: it is internally consistent (he never did this with anyone in high school or ever), consistent with his character ( a sterling reputation,; friends going back to high school were also interviewed), is corroborated by the other alleged witness (it is "nuts" and "never happened"), and he will undoubtedly offer more details to rebut her claim once Blasey's story is locked down under oath.

In order to make false accusations of this kind, a woman must be (1) fanatically devoted to the Cause (2) at least a bit cray-cray and (3) a person with zero commitment to traditional moral codes.

Conservative women are very unlikely to qualify under point #3. And even if they are a bit looped, they probably aren't looped in the same self-delusional way as lefties. So #2 is iffy.

You just don't have the large pool of potential accusers on the Right that you do on the Left. Not even close.

Speaking for myself, I would never ever make a false accusation of sexual assault against a man, no matter how odious a leftist he might be. Never.

Not a single fucking one of these ought-to-be-swinging assholes will ever have to worry about putting food on the table, paying insurance, mortgage payments or ending their days making minimum wage bagging at the Piggly Wiggly.

Sure, it's better to be in DC, have taxpayers crawling to you and begging "Sir" and having a long lunch hour with that new deep-throat page or giant-titted PA, but hey, they never have to worry about paying bills ever again.

Yes. The Turtle can force it out of committee and onto the floor on his own. It doesn't look good but I think we're beyond that. The question is whether doing something like that removes cover from the squishes and forces them to vote against. My thinking is that McConnell is going around to everybody's office and asking them point blank what they want to let the floor vote go forward.

Remember when they got a teensy little 2-7 page "Obamacare is hereby fully and completely repealed as of this moment" bill to the Obama's desk when they were comfortable knowing he'd veto it?

They didn't even bother voting on that kind of bill now that they have the majority and an (R) president ready to sign it.

Interesting that someone he likes is afforded the benefit of the doubt, but anyone whoe smells a little too much like Trump just doesn't get that whole "presumption of innocence" thing.Of course he claims that he is applying the same standard here as he was with Moore etc, but my bullshit detector is going off like a bitch..It just seems futile to try to explain to these limp wristed pieces of shit that if you let the left destroy one of yours with a certain tactic once, you will see that shit again and again and again. The idea that someone can make an allegation at the 11th hour about some shit that happened 35 years ago is utter bullshit and should be rejected by anyone with half a fucking brain. At least now we know why the left has been pushing that "all women should be believed and to hell with due process" meme.It is their new weapon to eliminate anyone they don't like without ever needing to do anything at all than find one of their own who is willing to lie. That ain't hard to find in a crazy ass lefty....means justifies the ends and all.

So, she picks up her phone and calls - said relative is on their way to visit/help out another extended family member, and they're on I 95, which we just watched as being impassable. Pics were sent, and the road is clear, open, sunny, and has some traffic.

So the issue is - has weather reporting succumbed fully to the Gell Mann amnesia effect? Short of calling family/friends/whoever in a given area, how can one reasonably comprehend what's happening?

Feh.

526 I think we have enough clout and manpower among the Horde to establish at least one, possibly two political parties of our own.

Establish an official platform. Win a few local elections here and there across the country. Get the word out.

We bitch and piss and moan (myself included) about the GOPe stabbing us in the back. Well.... Why do we let them? Why do we persistently let these swine presume to represent us?

Recent events, including the advent of Trump-ism, seem to have demonstrated quite clearly that the Party itself cannot be fixed by reformation from within, nor by intervention from the outside.

Many have vied for the coveted mantle of "Successful Third Party". None have ever truly had the combination of numbers, funding, coherence, or urgency necessary to make a go of it.

I think if organized well and executed properly, we here could be the ones to ignite a new political platform. Not a winner right out of the gate, but the nucleus of a truly Reformative and Restorative alternative to the entrenched interest of the current "conservative" "party". One race at a time, one win at a time.

Not the polite "excuse me, sir" of the Tea Party. Not the grating, incoherent blather of the "free weed, man" Libertarians. Not the "I'm kinda rich and I read some Hayek or Rothbard that one time" of Ross Perot.

A new party founded on Liberty, Sanity, and Civilization.

But, hey, you be you. I happen to believe half of victory is playing to win, rather than coming up with excuses for defeat.

That, and she claims to have PTSD from the alleged assault. And as any psychologist or psychiatrist will tell you, the research shows that people who experience PTSD often have altered memories of the event, that is, they remember things that did not actually happen.

It's entirely possible that this woman was sexually assaulted by somebody when she was a teen, and that caused psychological trauma, and over the decades since then her hatred of the Kavanaugh family (maybe connected to K's mother having been the judge in the foreclosure case of Ford's parents' home), or maybe just her hatred of K himself (due to his conservative rulings) may have caused her to subconsciously replace her actual assaulter's face with K's face in her memory.

That would explain how she could pass a polygraph (assuming that she did). Polygraphs only detect if the subject believes they are being deceptive. If Ford really believes K assaulted her (because she has created that memory over the years), then she could easily pass the poly.

540 In the upper echelons of private schools, students from different schools mingle. Especially all girls and all boy schools in a city. These schools are also pretty small, a few 100 students. So you'll have several school students interact socially, go to the same parties, etc.

So? As far as I can tell from what I read, she claims that incident was their only interaction. She doesn't know where and when this alleged party took place other than somewhere in Maryland! He says he hasn't met her.

546 They hyper-sexualize children to the point where most if not all so-called "Family" television and streaming shows operate under the assumption that there's something wrong with you if you make it to the age of 13 without:

A) already being sexually active

and

B) already having doubted your sex and sexual orientation.

And then they wet themselves at the prospect that some high school dude in the 80's may have tried and failed to get a piece at a house party (which in this case probably didn't even happen, but for now stipulate for the sake of argument that it did).

Compound that with the relatively recent phenomenon of a woman's "authenticity" somehow being inextricably bound to her having been sexually assaulted or molested at some point in her past.

I suppose evil people and evil ideas have always existed, but that doesn't make it any less exasperating.
