So, that's a self-portrait of Rodriguez in the act of painting, stepping back to get a look at his canvas.
The subject would be the little blonde girl whom everyone is doting on. I couldn't figure out why the frame on the back wall is so bright that it looks like a mirror, but now I've decided that it is a mirror. It's reflecting her parents who are looking on and that's who blondie is making eye contact with. The plump girl on the right has an unfortunate face. It's a middle aged masculine face. I'm guessing it's a mockery of someone middle aged and male whom Rodriguez hates. Late 1600s? Posted by: Bandersnatch at September 20, 2018 10:06 AM (fuK7c) 26

Probably a mirror. Mom and Dad are looking on nervously because the little hellion's posse keep lighting things on fire to entertain themselves. The dog is so used to it that he doesn't notice that the servant girl is kicking him. The woman with the unfortunate face is probably a dwarf and probably related to the royal family, since they were ridiculously inbred.

NBC News Source: I Felt "Empowered" To Falsely Inject Myself Into The Kavanaugh-Ford Narrative
ED MORRISSEY Posted at 10:01 am on September 20, 2018 Has NBC News caught up to the latest from their Facebook source, the one they claimed might "loom" in an investigation of Brett Kavanaugh? NPR caught up with the source herself, Cristina King Miranda, who pulled her post claiming to know that the attack Christine Blasey Ford alleges took place, only to have NBC later report it as a major development even after Miranda specifically disavowed it on Twitter. King now tells Nina Totenberg that she has no idea whether an attack took place at all...and that the Senate Judiciary Committee can please stop trying to contact her: A former classmate of Christine Blasey Ford tells NPR that she does not know if an alleged sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh took place as she first suggested on social media. "That it happened or not, I have no idea," Cristina King Miranda told NPR's Nina Totenberg. "I can't say that it did or didn't." That's different from what Miranda wrote Wednesday in a now-deleted Facebook post that stated definitively, "The incident DID happen, many of us heard about it in school." So why lie about it and claim that she knew the attack took place? King felt...empowered? "In my [Facebook] post, I was empowered and I was sure it probably did [happen]," Miranda told NPR. "I had no idea that I would now have to go to the specifics and defend it before 50 cable channels and have my face spread all over MSNBC news and Twitter." Empowered? That's certainly an interesting word choice, and a clever hijacking of empty self-improvement slogans, but it literally makes no sense at all in this context. By whom was Miranda "empowered"? Apparently by herself, which isn't "empowered" at all but arrogant. And not only arrogant, but also ignorant on a couple of levels...especially the level on which someone injects themselves into a national controversy as a witness in order to gain attention for herself, and then is shocked, shocked with the attention she gets as her claim is scrutinized. By golly, that's Captain Louis Renault Award territory there. Especially about the shock over MSNBC's interest in the story. However, trolls often show up in these situations. The most amazing part of this is that NBC considered Miranda a reliable source, highlighting her deleted Facebook post as a significant part of the Kavanaugh-Ford story even after she'd retracted and retreated from it. In fact, it's still up as of the writing of this post at 8:30 am. Perhaps NBC will also be shocked, shocked to discover that Facebook sources don't make for reliable reporting. Or maybe they just feel empowered to dispense with journalistic frills such as verifying and corroborating sources. We'll be charitable and include them in a joint Renault Award with the woman who discovered fame isn't all it's cracked up to be. Posted by: Trigger Warning at September 20, 2018 10:26 AM (kO+z3) 130

DNA testing shows most of (white) America is (slightly) related to the aristocracy in the painting ... so must surrender all their holdings to "the authorities".
But then again, we are also more related to those that stopped the Nazis, and those that freed the slaves, and those that invented all the cool stuff. What do we get for that? ... whereas guys like Obama that came out of Africa after slavery, are related to slave sellers, related to all sorts of injustices ONGOING in Africa. When do they make their payments to those that were slaughtered in the Zulu and Boer wars, for example? Or for all the other wars of Kenya and other regions? And my family barely escaped being cannon fodder for German rulers in the mid 1800s, when do our reparation payments begin, for those that didn't make it over? The "funny" thing ... if American blacks were a nation, they'd be the richest, freest, and most successful black nation in the world. You're Welcome. Or "Velathqueth", if you have that poofy Cathtilian accent. Pretty much all of the Habsburgs were Funny Looking Kids. This one's brother, King Carlos II "The Sufferer" or "The Bewitched", was the last of the Spanish Habsburg line. He took being a Funny Looking Kid to an extreme. His many, many physical and mental shortcomings were attributed to "witchcraft" rather than, oh, I don't know, all eight of his great-grandparents being direct descendants of "Joanna the Mad". The parents of Carlos II and the FLK in the picture were not only uncle and niece, but, due to inbreeding, closer genetically than a normal brother and sister. Carlos II himself was reportedly impotent, but at any rate failed to produce an heir, thus setting off the War of the Spanish Succession. Totally fucked up family, that was. Back when we actually cared about social etiquette, the rule was that a PhD used "Doctor" only in a setting related to the academic field of expertise. Thus, a chemistry PhD would be "Dr. Smith" in a research paper, at a chemistry conference, or while teaching a chemistry class. Otherwise, he'd be "Mr. Smith". How long would it take a single person to build a well themselves? I figure if you're spending 5 hours a day on it, you could probably knock something out in a week or two.-----
I read an explanation of this a while ago. African men refuse to work. They feel that it's below them. So... the African women are stuck doing thing like this. Regarding a RGB replacement, a lot of it will simply depend on the Senate makeup. We should assume that it will not simply be Trump's decision. If the GOP still holds the Senate, Mitch will have already caucused certain Senators to see who will be acceptable - and this will be relayed to Trump. I'm sure they will have multiple names ready and we should assume the first may get Borked. Of course, if you have 54-55 Senators, that risk is lessened. In that case, I suspect RGB will hang on until she reaches the ripe old age of 125.

It's stupid, but it's reality. I think a valid counter-tactic could be to embrace it fully. That seems counter-intuitive until you realize that identity politics is really just a smoke screen for "These populations generally agree with us, so they must have greater representation." Well, if Republicans keep putting up women, minorities, or whatever else, and they govern and vote for conservative issues, then the identity politics weapon loses its luster for the Left. "Vote for women!" "Here's a woman. She's a Republican who votes for smaller government." "Wait, no! Identity isn't everything, I've just decided right now and for the moment." "Cool. If she fails to do that, hold the damn vote and move on to firing Rosenputz with extreme prejudice for his refusal to follow the President's lawful order to submit unredacted documents that the President has now declassified.
The problem is she doesn't have a story, or a complete story. Again, without specificity regarding a when and where, there is no details to investigate. In all seriousness, this is why primitive societies have to go through a stage of Monarchy before they are capable of developing into any more advanced levels of civilization. They can only grow if there is one ruler on top who has a cadre of powerful supporters who are able and willing to use physical force, up to and including summary executions, to accomplish important works. Efficient rulers do this not out of benevolence, but because it is much more agreeable to rule over a wealthy semi-developed society than it is to rule over a collection of stinking mud huts on the edge of a swamp. We went through this in our own culture, but its been so long ago that most have forgotten how necessary is was at the time. Men like Henry II, Edward 1 (Longshanks), and Henry VIII all played a part in making us what we are today. They were not "nice" men, they were not fair men, but they were powerful, and they were necessary. Without men like that, primitive people stay primitive forever. I sort of disagree. I do the same thing as you, for the same reasons. But . . . It's not idiocy to do otherwise. Maybe just complacency. People live their lives, whatever that entails, with their technology; they're not preparing for litigation, civil, criminal, or otherwise. Which is why lawyers routinely see such unfortunate e-mails and texts. I say the same thing about Facebook etc. It's nuts to be on there, as it often nails down where you were and when, and there might come a day when you wish that was not the case. Ford said the incident, which was more a brief drunken pawing at her clothes than a rape, likely happened in 1982, but it could also have been in 1979, 1980, 1981 or some other year. She's not sure, probably because she herself was drunk at the time. (She claims she'd had only one beer at this party, but after reading the Holton-Arms yearbook, who believes that? All the guys had been drinking heavily for hours (according to her), but she'd just been sipping on this one beer? GMAFB. Posted by: TrivialPursuer at September 20, 2018 11:22 AM (fqUgw) She also stated that she was 15 at the time. Let's look at these two statements: 1) Says the incident happened when she was 15 years old 2) Says the incident happened between 1979-1982 Now, I'm no math major but it seems to me you can only be one age for AT MOST two consecutive years. The only exception is being born January 1st. Secondly, a third male has identified himself as PJ in the letter (Patrick J. Smyth) and says she's full of shit. Which leaves one more unidentified male. So my next question is who's house was it? Did Kavannaugh, Judge or this PJ person have a pool? Obviously, if you're at a high school party one person present would actually live there with their parents. Or coincidentally, was it the house of the 4th male or the newly added mystery woman? I thought text messages were more secure than email. ???"
assuming you're not being sarcastic, you should know that your provider (ATT, whoever) keeps backup copies of every text message you have ever sent, even if you've deleted them off of your phone, even if you've destroyed your phone. In Family law cases, it is standard practice for both attorneys to get subpoenas for printouts of every text message sent for the preceeding 5 years, from the provider, and it is astounding how much totally damning stuff pops up in court because of that. I say in court - actually, most never gets to court, because once one side shows the other what they got, they say "okay we'll settle on any terms you set." Sure Ford can try and explain on Monday, if she shows, where it all happened. But it opens her up to accusations of coaching after all the known inconsistencies that have been found in her story. Come on, was it four or two guys? Why is now three guys? Why in 2012 no names, but now three names?

This painting is one of the most dissected and discussed in art history, rightfully so!
Soooo many portraits and centerpoints, making it amazingly complex and ambitious for the time. The young daughter that is the only legitimate heir to the throne, the royals reflected in the mirror on the back wall, the artist... The possible attempt to use the royal family as a symbol of the country's standing at the time moves it from mere portraiture to a piece full of geopolitical complexity. ------------------------ assuming you're not being sarcastic, you should know that your provider (ATT, whoever) keeps backup copies of every text message you have ever sent, even if you've deleted them off of your phone, even if you've destroyed your phone. In Family law cases, it is standard practice for both attorneys to get subpoenas for printouts of every text message sent for the preceeding 5 years, from the provider, and it is astounding how much totally damning stuff pops up in court because of that. I say in court - actually, most never gets to court, because once one side shows the other what they got, they say "okay we'll settle on any terms you set." It doesn't follow. Posted by: Bandersnatch at September 20, 2018 11:19 AM (fuK7c) Of course the yearbook contains a photo of an obviously drunk-as-a-skunk Chrissy Blasey. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at September 20, 2018 12:52 PM (iwUO9) 621
Levon Helm.
I will cunt punt anyone who says Phil Collins. Posted by: Bandersnatch at September 20, 2018 11:34 AM (fuK7c) Levon is both a good drummer and fine singer. I saw The Band (minus Robbie) play live in Canmore, AB, many years ago. Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at September 20, 2018 01:02 PM (iwUO9) 622
One of my favorite paintings! Velasquez painted himself painting a royal portrait of the king and queen, and the viewer of the painting is seeing what the king and queen would have seen as they posed for their portraits. So in Velasquez's eyes, we are all royalty. King of cool.

This pic is prolly just as well known as that other famous painting of Little Lord Fauntleroy. I've seen this many times in different media ventures.

I believe I have seen the original in the Prado Museum in Madrid. It is a lovely painting. And in this week's highliy politicized environment with charges and countercharges and tons of cow manure flying through the air, it's nice to look at and think about something that is lovely and not of this age.

Picasso loved this painting and did about 15 versions of it. They don't look quite the same.
Google Picasso and Las Meninas together if interested Posted by: porttownsendshedboy at September 20, 2018 04:45 PM (g1P2d) 626

The blond girl in the painting the Infanta Margaret Maria was the product of a uncle-niece marriage; the two figures in the background. Notice the infamous Habsburg face on the girl.
