The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"Back in the day, reporters (they didn't insist on being called 'journalists' back then) were told that the way to frame their stories was to answer a series of questions which boiled down to:

-who
-what
-when
-where
-why
-how

The emphasis was on actual facts and objectivity. But now, with 'advocacy journalism' having completely taken over the J-schools and pretty much every newsroom, the emphasis is on changing the world rather than reporting a story fairly and accurately. Especially now, when no less a paper than the New York Times announced before the election that Trump is so bad that objectivity should be thrown out. So the who, what, when, where, why, and how questions were changed into:

-who (can we quote to damage Trump)
-what (can we publish to damage Trump)
-when (should we run it maximize damage to Trump)
-where (do we get more material to damage Trump)
-why (Donald Trump's presidency is an existential threat to America and to the world)
-how (can we write our stories so as to cause maximum damage to Trump)

Ladies and gentlemen, this is the state of journalism, 2018."

'1984' Is NOT Supposed To Be a How-To Manual, Part CXXVII:

Revisionism

Remember when progs, heavily invested as they are in the "Islam is a religion of peace" mantra, used to scoff when it was pointed out that some Muslims celebrated 9/11 by shooting off fireworks from the tops of buildings? That's just a stupid right-wing fantasy, they snorted. Nobody every did that, they said. And they believe that to this day.

I read an article awhile back that increased longevity and health due to improved medicine, and the availability of performance enhancing drugs like viagra and levitra, has resulted in retirement communities turning into veritable Dens of Iniquity. And accompanying all of the rampant screwing-around-like-horny-teenagers is the usual multiplex of break ups, love triangles, jealousies, one-night stands, petty hatreds, etc., and it's all pretty silly until some guy tries to take out a hit on his girlfriend. Oh, and disease, let's not forget that. The STD rates in places like The Villages and other retirement communities is through the roof. Because physical disease, mysteriously, always seem to be one of the results that occur when moral standards are relaxed. Imagine that.

From what I understand, hit men aren't like in the movies where it's some super capable former special forces sniper expert ninja. Its just someone willing to kill someone else for pay. Like, enough pay to buy another rock of crack cocaine. I mean those elite guys are out there, but its like hookers: most of them are nasty street ho's not $25000 a night "escorts"

I always asked them who they were, what they believed, why they believed and how they wanted to act on those beliefs.
And then I trusted readers to sort it all out.
However, I never claimed status as an elite journalist.
Funny how the media never seems interested in finding out what conservatives actually believe, preferring to simply declare how deplorable conservatives are.

A big part of the fake news is disinformation to cover up the real news. Hillary/Russia was covered up with orchestrated Trump/Russia subterfuge. This is coordinated right within the FBI/DNC/Mob propaganda media complex. FusionGPS funds "journolistas" to push the coordinated Narrative.

91 I work in Paterson, NJ and I knew a lot of Muslims, so on the morning of 9/11 after I watched the Towers fall, I got in my car and drove through the heart of the Arab section in South Paterson. The entire area was deserted, not a soul to be found. On the street corners where you would usually see groups of men talking and smoking--no one.

BUT this was already a couple hours after the Towers were hit and it was reported in the local newspaper the next day that when the local school was dismissed earlier, there was loud cheering and laughter. That story disappeared in the following days---as did a report by a minister who had witnessed this same thing in the same area.
Also down the memory hole was a story about a group of area white and Hispanic teenagers who were bent on revenge --and taken into custody by the police ( later released uncharged)
So yes, there was a lot of cheering and celebration. But it was over by 10:30 when I drove through the area.
It was all memory-holed because Islam is peaceful....

The implicit deal was that Ex Presidents go away... and the new administration leaves them alone.

Obama is breaking that deal, and actively campaigning... so BUSH comes out and does the same... thus normalizing and making bipartisan that new precedent.

Ingraham was talking about the Q poll on her radio show this morning. But she said it was +14 dem advantage in the generic ballot. Was the sample pool 20%+ dem? That would explain it.

Incidentally, she had Gingrich on to talk about the Nov. elections. He is very positive about the R's. 229 Windows 10 is enabling a new feature that will move your files into the cloud when your hard drive starts to fill up.

Microsoft wants so badly for two things to happen:

1) PCs to go away. They've been predicting and wanting this for a decade now
2) For all storage and all programs to be online rather than locally on your computer. So you rent storage and rent your programs rather than own them. Microsoft's latest office is all rental now, you cannot own a copy.

See, from a software producer's point of view, buying software is a losing proposition. Once you have your version of Windows (whatever) you have it and no longer buy it from anyone. That means a big revenue spike at first, but then nothing after that until a new version comes out, which is expensive to produce.

RENTING programs which you use from an online location, well now that's a constant revenue stream, you pay forever on that.

230 Hilariously, Politico just published an Ohio poll claiming Sherrod Brown, well known Yale-educated Socialist, beating Jim Renacci by 16 points.

To get there, Politico used a sample of Registered Voters (not Likely Voters) who majority voted for Hillary Clinton (in a state Trump won by 8 points), was 62% women, and 28% Generation Z or Millenial.

Despite this incredible sample, the poll still shows Brown below 50% approval.

Renacci might just win this election.

I notice you used the antique term "reporter" rather than the modern word "journalist."

A journalist is simply one who writes about the events du jour. It could be a weather freak, jotting down daily info about local conditions in a notebook. It could be an opinion columnist snarking on the latest tax bill. It could be teenage Ashley writing in her diary about what Emily said about Jason at lunch today. It could be a Pravda propagandist.
These are all journalists --- but only one resembles a "reporter."

We (correctly) switched from "reporter" to "journalist" around the same time that reporting gave way to "saving the world" and "making a difference," i.e., when Truth became secondary to Power.

the way it works, Trump would add $20T because so much is just funding ever rising debt and entitlements, PLUS the fed is now raising rates. The hard choices can't be made without losing elections ... or until "something breaks".

That's what Microsoft wants. So they control all that data and get money off it all. And, in the future, its easy to check, delete, and change as political whims dictate.

Its one of the reasons I got OUT of Medical IT. Lots of money in it, but the liability devolves onto the IT tech.

Their ARE ways to secure it, but its very expensive and time consuming... and thus not competitive in the market place.

So Doctors are ordering IT techs to do things which they KNOW are against best practices and HIPAA Act... which makes the TECH responsible and liable...

Its the big reason you see the smaller doctors offices joining bigger conglomerates. The bigger Companies can afford the data centers needed to secure the information... and the staff to support it.

HIPAA will end up killing any independent Doctor practices out there. Just like the Bail Out Consolidated the Banking industry.

OBAMA: "When the job numbers come out, the monthly job numbers, and suddenly Republicans are saying it's a miracle, I have to kind of remind them, actually, those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016." - Illinois rally.

THE FACTS: Obama is correct, though many economists are surprised that hiring has continued at such a solid pace after more than nine years of expansion. Job gains even picked up a bit in 2018.

Still, in 2015 employers added an average of 226,000 jobs a month. Last year, Trump's first in the White House, that figure fell to 182,000 a month. So far in 2018, hiring has come in a bit better, averaging 207,000 a month.

In some ways, Obama isn't giving himself enough credit: The strongest year for job growth since the recession was 2014, when employers added more than 250,000 on average every month.

National ID has that "your papers please" sorta Orwellian feel, but we need biometric ID of the aliens, that are repeat offender, that steal SS numbers, and for the various frauds from foreigners with faked IDs.

As with Voter ID, it would probably be the left that would most oppose it ... they'd have to start paying their nannies and gardeners more (and illegals would have to be funded by the employer, IF they are going to keep hiring them. tax them enough to cover all their medical and other social services .. or just send them home, clean your own damn house)

336 From the AP fact check of Obama's speech:

Posted by: Richard Yerkes

A huge percentage of Obama's jobs were part-time. So a fulltime job gets converted to three part-time jobs, voila --look at all the new jobs.

Plus Obama was bleeding manufacturing jobs which are much better than the jobs he was getting --government 'work'.

Quantitative easing and zero interest policies were the only thing getting any positive jobs effect, the stimulus was a flop. Trump is getting his results in the face of interest rate increases and wage growth to boot.

In terms he would understand, Obama's economy was in a recovery phase of the cycle and was flaccid, compared to the decline was erect and throbbing.

499 You portray the UK example as "potential future."
The future is here.

The NYC subways have, for many months, run ads from "Governor" (spit) Cuomo with something called a "Bias Hotline". It depicts a woman in hijab and instructs we Citizens to "report incidents of bias" to said gubmint "Hotline."

There is no qualification as to criminality, violence, or even employment. Just "incidents of bias" --which is now apparently a reportable offense to your government.

The Overton/Orwell window on totalitarianism in the ostensible service of "diversity" is well shifted.

Particularly with all that wasted drinking water (entirely the fault of the Puerto Rico side) hitting the news just now.

502 I'm working on a FEMA application right now. Not fraud. It would help my budget if it comes through. We got a lot of flooding damage.

Fraud is hard to come by with the advent of instant overheads.
