The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"As ace discussed on Wednesday, the NY Times published an oped supposedly from a, quote, anonymous senior administration official, unquote that paints the president as a petulant little kid running around the White house jumping on the furniture and breaking things that the adults have to fix. And there is much speculation as to the identify of this, quote, senior official, unquote, but how can you not read it and immediately conclude that it's a hoax? To belabor the obvious, if there were actually some sort of cabal working in the White House to hold him in check, why did they out themselves? Why announce the existence of the cabal to the supposed target? Doesn't that defeat the very purpose of a 'secret' group? And the article itself, holy crap, it reads like NeverTrump fan fiction. It could've been written by Bill Kristol. Or David French or any of the other Acela Corridor 'cruise ship' conservatives and then 'leaked' to the Times who, naturally, snapped it up and printed it because they'll believe anything if they think it will damage Trump. Me, I think it came from the White House, but Trump authorized it. Heck, it was probably written by Barron as a writing assignment in speculative fiction. Because I think PDT likes to f* with the media. The MSM is like a roomful of cats and Trump is standing at the door with a laser pointer, shining it this way and that, and all the cats are chasing the red dot around running into each other, knocking each other down, and Trump is with Kellyanne Conway and John Kelly and they're all laughing their asses off. It reminds me of what happened in the 2004 election when CBS ran with the Killian documents that anyone with a lick of sense could see were obvious fakes. But it affirmed what they were already predisposed to believe about Bush, plus they wanted to influence the election in favor of the Democrats, so they didn't ask too many questions. It's the same here; confirmation bias plus Stage IV TDS is a helluva thing."

By the way, did you know that back in 2013, a Illinois trucking company that fired two Muslims who would not deliver alcohol because it violated their religious beliefs lost the resulting lawsuit and the jury awarded the drivers $240,000 in damages? Yes, that's right. All religions are equal under the U.S. Constitution, but some are more equal than others.

As opposed to the rational policy of our last two idiotic misadventurers.

Irish Confession

I went into the confessional box after many years of being away from the Catholic Church.

Inside I found a fully equipped bar with Guinness on tap. On one wall, there was a row of decanters with fine Irish whiskey and Waterford crystal glasses. On the other wall was a dazzling array of the finest cigars and chocolates.

When the priest came in, I said to him, "Father, forgive me, for it's been a very long time since I've been to confession, but I must first admit that the confessional box is much more inviting than it used to be."

He replied, "You moron, you're on my side."

Posted by: Under Fire at September 10, 2018 12:02 PM (r9UYA)

You always send this sort of accusation to the Grand Jury, it is required because it can't be docketed. The only time it would not would be if the DA determines there is not enough evidence or basis for a crime committed to convict. AND if the DA determines not to send to the Grand Jury at the moment, it often means "not enough information at this moment" or "not able to bring the charge within the required time and the judge won't let it be put back."

The DA got it done within a week, so there is either political necessity to push it or the DA sees an easy win.

The DA puts a case together and presents it to selected grand jurors who are chosen just like trial jurors, but without the selection by the attorneys.
They review the case, ask questions of the witnesses and determine if there is basis for a "true bill": if there is sufficient evidence of a crime to proceed to issuing an indictment.
With the indictment, then it can go to trial or to plea bargain.
If the judge and the DA don't like the bargain, they go to trial.

A charge of murder would require proof of Intent to Kill, which is probably why the prosecutors aren't going there. Manslaughter is, roughly put, killing someone through your own negligence and wrongful actions, without regard to your intent. Depending on the circumstances, a Manslaughter conviction can come with as much as a 20 year sentence in the state pen, which is what I think is about what this cop will end up with.

Oh, that's easy!

They say he's a racist because of his insistence on a border wall, denouncing illegal immigrant crime ("they're not sending us their best!"), and the immigration ban to prevent future refugee terrorists from entering the US.

These are all "brown" people he wants to keep out (no, you're not allowed to see any of their other characteristics!), so it means Trump hates non-whites, so = white nationalist.

I like WXRisk for forecasting as well. he's a lefty, but it doesn't impact his forecasts, and he generally keeps politics off his weather page, but he's professional long range guy who isn't wrong often.

When he does miss, he then will go back and explain exactly why he missed. so for a weather geek like me, it's pretty neat to learn more.

plus he has it out for many of the tv meteorologists. and stupid people asking stupid quests. so his forecast is usually right and entertaining as well.

Yes, exactly. The story, I think, is that Bolton is considering sanctions against any ICC Judges who attempt to investigate or lay charges against any US or Israeli citizens or officials, even though neither of these countries are members of the ICC. This could include banning these Judges from entering the United States, banning all cooperation with them from any US Agency, and confiscation of any assets they may hold in a US affiliated corporations, including banks.

Just ignore all the comments trying to figure out which game of Capablanca's it is. The game described in the song is one that the singer/author claims she played last year and that she had nightmares about it.
People are trying to get a PGN of the game ... did not see one last night.
Posted by: Off the reservation at September 10, 2018 12:27 PM (vWMNq)

When I listened to it, I didn't bother trying to construct a game out of the lyrics. I figured that the songwriter could say anything she wanted and it didn't have to be consistent with an actual chess game in order for the song to work.

When she shows a pattern of going out until the wee hours, change the locks and call the cops whrn she gets home and tries to break in. Have her arrested and file the divorce papers. You win your house and kids and are 10 steps ahead of that train wreck.

Yeah, that one....I think it's just that he's implementing policies that undo Obama's stuff? Particularly the Obama EOs he's undone by EO - how dare he do this without Congressional approval!?!

Also, he's appointing conservative judges who will undo bad law. This is "lawlessness" since the Left's "laws" are really made by the court's twisted interpretations of laws.

Buying a country club so you can open it up to blacks and Jews? Totes racist. Letting black women like Jennifer Hudson stay at your hotel for free while they are dealing with traumatic family issues? Totes racist. Talking up and being proud of the fact you have slashed the black unemployment rate to one of its lowest rates ever? Totes racist.

There are plenty examples out there, if the left would just listen.

458 I forgot to mention: Does anyone remember BO's slur against the Tea Party? Where he called them "tea baggers"? He grinned slyly, the faggoty media people in the audience laughed, but in all the times it was repeated, nobody ever explained the inside joke. So, the gay mulatto calls members of the tea party either givers or receivers of having a scrotum dragged across their face. That's OK. But, call MS-13 animals and you have committed a crime against humanity. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.

Obama was good at saying childish stuff, confident that he would never be called out on it. I remember a rally he held in '08 where he said, "Uhm, you can put lipstick on a pig, but, uhm, it's still a pig." Everyone in the audience giggled , knowing it was a slap at Sarah Palin, who a few days earlier had called herself, "a mama grizzly with lipstick"--or something similar.

But the media pretended he didn't mean what he OBVIOUSLY meant.

467 223 The old saying from thugs was that lady cops won't tussle - they just shoot you.
_______________

Some women have what it takes to be good cops, many don't. This woman in TX obviously didn't. The idiot Somali cop (the one who shot dead the Australian woman who'd called 911) also obviously didn't.

In the case of the Somali cop in MN, the PD there knew he was unfit. He'd been red-flagged by two different PD psychiatrists because he could not deal with stress and he was bad with people. During his training, he would ignore dispatch calls for things in his area, and just drive around in circles so that he would not have to be the responding unit. He was a lazy, nervous, cowardly bitch who never should have been given a gun. And yet he was. And although they won't ever admit it, we all know that this scared-of-his-own-shadow Somali idiot was allowed to become a cop because the MN PD felt the need to satisfy the "diversity" gods.

And it won't surprise anyone if it turns out that the woman cop in TX was hired for the same damn reason.

"Diversity" is not our strength. But it is strong. It kills mercilessly. And often.

Those were less about the light than about the heat. Since LED and curly fluorescent bulbs run at a lower temperature, its likely you can get away with more powerful bulbs. Generally you could anyway in most cases, they were just being careful.

Instead, he played the front man, blaming the victim, that "she startled them". Blame the corpse.

This is another reason why people are generally sick of cops. They get away with shit and are treated better than us peasants.

508 The DA puts a case together and presents it to selected grand jurors who
are chosen just like trial jurors, but without the selection by the
attorneys.
They review the case, ask questions of the witnesses and
determine if there is basis for a "true bill": if there is sufficient
evidence of a crime to proceed to issuing an indictment.
With the indictment, then it can go to trial or to plea bargain.
If the judge and the DA don't like the bargain, they go to trial.

Remember only one side of the case is presented. So if the DA acts like a defense attorney (as is often the case when its a police involved shooting before the grand jury) the defendant is often no billed.
