I'm not sure that it is possible to reform the TSA, because it has already become entrenched in the federal bureaucracy, but I'm willing to listen... TSA Needs Reform. Here's What My Bill Would Change.
However, as it stands, the TSA does not currently include the cost of benefits guaranteed to federal employees, which could account for as much as 10 percent of the total amount the TSA pays its employees for these services. This bill would change that. Additionally, after 17 years' experience with the TSA, we've come to see many of its inefficiencies. While there is reason to believe the TSA has improved on its abysmal 5 percent success rate at detecting credible threat, there is obviously room for growth.
Eh...maybe. I have seen other countries' security screening, and some of those seem to do it quite well with far fewer employees. Airport security is simple and straightforward, why we have turned it into theater is beyond me.

I turned on the TV and watched the first tower burning, then a few minutes later, the second tower. There was now no doubt we were under attack.
I woke up the wife, she immediately wanted to know why the TV was on in our bedroom. I just said "watch".
My 5 year old woke up, hearing the noise coming from Mom and Dad's room, and walked in. I sat up, and told him, "you are watching history, remember this day". We watched it together for nearly an hour.
He is 22 and told me today that he remembers that morning well.

freerepublic has (via weekly standard, i think) a really interesting profile of sabo, the l.a. street artist who mocks hollywood liberals. i've wondered about who and what he is, his milieu and methods. it's well worth a read. highly recommended.

Poured rain till 'bout 10 am, then it's been intermittent drizzle through the rest of the day.
I was able to hit Kroger's well before noon, and picked up a few veggies, pearled barley, lentils and such that'll be going into a 15 qt. pot of soup, tomorrow.
The caulking repair I did on the 3rd bedroom window on Friday seems to have done the trick... nary a drop, and the windowsill inside remains bone dry.

There is a new anti-gun initiative on the Wash state fall ballot, I-1639. Paid signature gatherers, paid for by the few millionaires who wrote big checks, used forms that were confusing and against the law how they were laid out. They used them anyway. A suit was filed and the judge threw out the form and the initiative because of the obvious faulty form. So too late for the November election, that the anti-2A millionaires had already funded.
The Wash State Supreme Court re-instated the initiative, and ignored the confusing layout, and the rules.
The initiative is obviously unconstitutional to the Heller decision, and the Wash state Constitution, Article 24. Again ignored by the Leftist anti-Constitutional court. It is the Globalists second stab at the rights of WA state citizens, similar to the CT, CA, etc gun grabber laws.
Because in the Bluest of Blue states, it is so important to restrict guns that breaking initiative laws are no big deal. That's how we roll around here. And now the Leftist press will take it from here. That is why I laughed and copied the handle above.

Weathermen used to have fun making sexist comments about hurricanes. Ah, the good ol' days.

25 years ago this week I was also vacationing in the Outer Banks with my main squeeze; he proposed to me on the beach at Nags Head. We got married a year later, almost to the day, and returned there for our honeymoon. Didn't have any weather issues either time, despite being the peak of hurricane season. Haven't made it back since then but maybe someday we will, assuming there's anything left to come back to....

In other depressing news, Woodward's little F.U. to sanity arrived at work today. We got to put some copies out for people to check out right away! And boy, were they going out the door fast. Sigh. I had to endure a lot of comments about how awful Trump is, without reacting. All. Day. Long. Trust me - if people knew how I voted, I would literally be shunned by pretty much everyone there. And I like what I do. So I keep my mouth shut about politics at work, unless I absolutely can't help myself and have to "politely" interject some facts here and there. Yes.
What you'll do is set up an encrypted tunnel using your computer's network settings, and when you enable the VPN, all of your traffic to the outside world - assuming you only have the one ethernet or wifi interface - should be routed through that tunnel. So, your ISP and any routers in between you and the VPN provider can see that encrypted traffic is moving from your address to the VPN provider's systems, and that's all. The packet headers that contain the actual destination will be encrypted along the way, so nobody can see what they contain or where their real destination is.

Overall it's not a bad show. The characters don't seem to have much agency and are just pawns of the writers. That's not a bad thing, the plot is fairly interesting. It's worth watching. Big fan of Elisabeth Moss and her ample bosoms.

But that's just a smidge of the total power. That number (and there is uncertainty here) is about 600TW, which is, well, a YUGE number. I'm not sure where they get that number. It would mean wind power is less than 1% of the total power output.

Driving down Highway 1 today through Pacifica, I see a kid--a young teen--standing at the side of the road. He was holding a large American flag. Not waving it, not doing anything to attract attention. Just resting the butt of the flagpole against his hip, holding the pole at a 45 deg. angle. I don't know how long he had been there, or for how long he remained after I passed him. I'd imagine he was part of a group taking shifts.

There's also flooding due to the massive amounts of rain.
I think back to Hurricane Camille in '69. Hit the Gulf Coast but Richmond, VA had 'the flood of the Century' due to all the water dumped when it moved north and the mountain rivers of TN, NC, VA and WV couldn't handle all that water. The James River, when it gets to Richmond, is normally a pretty shallow river. If you've ever traveled I-95 just south of Richmond, the interstate crosses the James via a very high bridge. The floodwater crested over the roadway.

They were magic. If money was no object, yeah I would have a korina V. I do have a few of those, but they were custom shop reissues. They got them pretty much nuts on, and I did put a pair of late 50's pickups in one to get the right sound of the vintage ones. The others are set up for metal. Damn close enough to where I don't miss having an original. I played somewhere around 10 originals and some were better than others. But yeah there is something in those guitars. Its mostly the wood really, African white limba, also known as Korina. Kinda like mahogany, but lighter in color and more airy sounding, couple that with the actual design of the guitar and its a perfect storm. All frets are clear of the body, so fret access is off the charts.
Hemi car? Roadrunner, although I would take any. lol

I stay out of it because I'm not real wide genre wise and really have nothing to offer outside of my genre. I know metal and classical, and not much of anything else. What I mean by innovators are the players that have some unique thing they bring to their genre, or a very unique style that changed the course of music, or spawned a new genre. It don't have to be complex, just very unique. One example would be Chuck Berry. He had a slightly distorted sound very early in music, and he played a style of chord thats used a shit ton in metal. When you think of the time period he did that shit in it was pretty damn innovative. I don't really listen to chuck berry, because most of it all sounds the same, but those metal style 2 finger chords and the slightly ballsy sound was pretty original for the time. Miles ahead of a lot of stuff going on the 50's. I guess its possible that somebody did it before him and he just did it bigger, louder, and faster, but he's one example.

We were over at Squadron Saturday night, and on the stanchion at the top of the ladder was a pop-riveted metal plate about 2.5 by 2.5 inches square. Rather distinctive vee-shaped pattern of raised metal tabs on it, as if to accept and hold an object with a corresponding vee shaped bracket on a bulkhead or other vertical surface.
Nobody knew what it was originally for.
But, they still paint and preserve it on a regular basis.

That may actually be true. People with a septic system with drain fields may discover they can't flush their toilets for a week or so afterwards. I know when Floyd came through my hood and dropped a foot of rain I kept my fingers crossed for a number of days, and I live on high ground. I calculated later that somewhere north of a million gallons of water dropped on my property in that one 12 hour period. Then ran downhill.
It's gonna be a huge mess if it lasts 24 - 48 hours as Joe Bastardi is guesstimating.

That is far more expensive than NJ! I am lucky that my police chief just does the paperwork and doesn't play bullshit political games, so it takes less than a month to get my permits.
Permits to exercise my God-given and natural rights.
Yeah, that leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
