One Handed Typing Morning Report

Morning Report intro.jpg

No, not that, you pervs. Whoops, forgot I wasn't talking to the ONT crowd here. You people are elegant and sophisticated daywalkers, so let me just say that any crude implication derived from the title is mistaken, and such tawdry associations are far below the honor and class of dayside Morons. I injured my hand Sunday, so I'm typing this like the hillbilly gal out in the big city looking for a good time: I'm a hunt-n-pecker. So what exactly does happen when a crude and boisterous ONT COB is asked to cover the morning report? Could it be...

....an all GIF Morning Report?

No, no it couldn't. It's a dumb question, never happens. Forget I asked. What you also won't get is one of JJ's wonderful posts. I spoke to Sefton a while ago, and he told me that to do the MR, he gets up at 4:30 (get up at 4:30?? I couldn't survive on just a half hour's sleep each night!), peruses dozens and dozens of news websites, copies links, groups them into categories, writes an Ace-movie-review length post introducing all of the links and then heads off to his day job as a Robert De Niro impersonator. I haven't got that kind of fortitude, but I can give y'all a dozen links to interesting articles and news reports. I think. Here goes nuthin'.

Socialism

Given all the suffering it has caused, is socialism a hate crime?
Watch: North Carolina Socialists Chant, Celebrating Death Of John McCain

If you really want an effective counter to all of the idiots running around crying for Socialism, there's no better place to go than the Twitter feed of @RexValllachorum. An expat Romanian, he grew up in socialist Romania before emigrating to the US. He has an ongoing series of tweetstorms about what life in a Marxist country is really like, and every one of them is gold.

A Wonderful Socialist Life - Part I
A Wonderful Socialist Life - Part II: Socialism and the 1%
A Wonderful Socialist Life - Part III: Socialist Healthcare
A Wonderful Socialist Life - Part IV: Socialist Military Life
A Wonderful Socialist Life - Part V: Socialist Planned Economy
A Wonderful Socialist Life - Part VI: The People's House and the people housing

Read them all. Wonderful stuff, straight from the horse's mouth.

Politics

Big fish in little ponds:

Victor David Hanson came up with what he calls "The Bloomberg Syndrome"

It is a human trait to focus on cheap and lofty rhetoric rather than costly, earthy reality. It is a bureaucratic characteristic to rail against the trifling misdemeanor rather than address the often-dangerous felony. And it is political habit to mask one's own failures by lecturing others on their supposed shortcomings. Ambitious elected officials often manage to do all three.

The result in these hard times is that our elected sheriffs, mayors, and governors are loudly weighing in on national and global challenges that are quite often out of their own jurisdiction, while ignoring or failing to solve the very problems that they were elected to address.

Quite simply, the next time your elected local or state official holds a press conference about global warming, the Middle East, or the national political climate, expect to experience poor county law enforcement, bad municipal services, or regional insolvency.

That comes from the following article (from 2013)

The Bloomberg Syndrome Strikes Philadelphia

So, do we have any examples of The Bloomberg Syndrome in the news today? Well, here's one.

Plastic Straw Myths

Contrast that with the politically inconvenient facts:

How to Solve the Plastic Crisis: Just eight countries are responsible for most ocean plastic.

A few more political links:

GOP Rep. Duncan Hunter up by 8 points despite indictment
No, adding a few more Republicans to the Senate will not change the equation

PETA Attacks!

PETA put up a billboard urging Baltimore to stop eating crabs. It didn't exactly go over well.

Baltimore Strikes Back!

Jimmy's is good, real good, but they don't even make the best crabcake in Baltimore (that would be Pappas). Their 7 lb seafood sandwich is a marvel to behold, however, and they're not taking PETA's BS sitting down. Check their Twitter feed for more.

More Twitter News:

Someone Threatens To Murder Dana Loesch’s Children. Twitter Yawns.

But please, tell me again how conservatives aren't being treated at second class citizens on social media.

Bias in Media

I hope none of you blinked, because if you did, you would have missed the fleeting coverage the MSM gave to the compound of Muslims training children to conduct terrorists attacks found in Arizona a week or so ago. This is CNN's take:

In New Mexico, where life off the grid is common, compound suspects struggled

Poor widdle terrorists, finding it so hard to live without modern amenities. What were they up to, you ask?

Two linked to 'extremist Muslim' New Mexico compound wanted to attack hospital, prosecutors say

Miscellaneous Stuff

Suds for Drugs Why Tide detergent is a hot item for shoplifters
Sexually frustrated dolphin named Zafar terrorises (sic) tourists on French beach
A Jolt To The Jugular! You’re Insured But Still Owe $109K For Your Heart Attack

And I think that's it for me, folks. Don't worry, JJ will be back soon with much better Morning Reports. Have a great day!

Geez. Been a couple decades since I read 'Cancer Ward' but that's like a Cliff Notes version.

Had a conversation with a socialist supporter recently who thinks she's a know-it-all. Asked her if she had read any Solzhenitsyn in the course of her fantastic education. She hadn't. Not a one. A fvcking Nobel Prize winning writer on the evils of Communism and its kid brother socialism.

She had no exposure at all. I don't even think she recognized the name.

49 We are missing something from that hospital bill fiasco. I had seen that article before and wondered about it. Hospitals typically overcharge out the ass for people who have insurance and if they do like most hospitals in order to be served by that insurance company they have to agree to negotiate bills with them and not hit the patients up.

I have seen it over and over with medical bills from hospitals and doctors. I would often get a notice from the insurance company that they had agreed to pay the hospital about half of what they billed and that I did not owe them ANYTHING. A copy of that letter also went to the hospital.

70 More Noos; today is Tuesday, August 28, 2018. I am going to use the same "day in history" as last year because it has relevance.

On this day in 1968 riots occurred in Chicago during the Democratic National Convention. While you hear a lot about unrestrained police in these riots what you do not hear from the MFM was that the riots occurred due to communist groups who were part of the anti-war demonstrators pushing the crowds into the riots. This was a strategy of these groups during the 60s. And it still carries forth to this day. Why even after it has been exposed by former FBI agents and others over the years? Because the MFM supports these communist groups and it is a successful tactic when the media hides it. And nothing has changed since 1968 except that the Democrat Party has been taken over by the extreme left wing factions and can only exist as long as they provide 'bread and circuses' to the FSA and the MFM hides their illegal actions.

yeah, they don't have to encourage Socialists to become teachers, or to take other government jobs. Those that want the SEIU backed easy ride, early retirement , golden pensions ... go right into government that makes its money by forcing payment from more productive workers.

An EMT guy was out here the other day, interested in hunting, nice guy, somewhat informed of political problems. But he was complaining about some new rule where he might have to work ... iirc it was 25 years, instead of 20 like some were getting ... before that cushy retirement.

That just seems absurd to me ... even if they are good workers (with good pay/bennies), since those golden plans are not funded, and IL especially has the Chicago Machine with its mobster don in control, as they drive us ever further into $130B debt.

On Monday's broadcast of CNN's Wolf, Senator Patrick Leahy (C-VT) declared a new North American trade deal will not be able to pass the Senate unless Canada is part of the deal and criticized the exclusion of Canada from the deal between the US and Mexico as petty.

As usual he is FOS, most Democrats know that they could lose big if they oppose this deal. And on top of that Trump has already said Canada is 'next'.

Exactly. Notice the 'bills' that Dr.s, hospitals, and clinics send? They never say the word 'invoice' on them. My wife gets them all the time and I tell her to throw them in the trash. I tell her if she sees the word 'invoice' on them to let me know.

They take it all the way up to a certain line, but never cross it. I guess they get some people to fall for the scam.

That's a really good reason not to vote for any Republicans. 184 One thing about the huge spending bills, it makes it easier to win the
election. But it has to stop at some point, and some sort of collapse is
not the way to go.

OK, one more time. Government spending is the only source of dollars for the economy. Every government on the planet spends 1/6th of the GNP of their country. As the economy grows government spending increases to supply the extra dollars a larger economy requires. A state government deficit is a bad thing. A federal government deficit is a good thing - the deficit provides the extra money a growing economy needs. When the federal government collects taxes the money it collects disappears into nothing - the same way it appeared out of nothing when the dollars were printed in the first place.
Sigh.

211 We are missing something from that hospital bill fiasco.

A copy of that letter also went to the hospital.

.
Posted by: Vic We Have No Party at August 28, 2018 07:25 AM (mpXpK)

---------------------------

The negotiation is done long before you ever go to the hospital. A provider contracts with the insurance company, and that contract basically lays out how much the insurance company is going to pay for specific procedures. Sometimes it's a set fee, sometimes a percentage (though there are safeguards in place to prevent doctors from charging astronomical fees on percentage payments). These contracts also typically have "hold harmless" clauses, meaning the doctor can't go after the patient to recover the difference between what insurance pays and what the doctor billed.

Where it gets dicey is when there are multiple doctors involved, some of whom may be out of network.

214 another clue that "the left" is moving toward voting R, at least as long as the extreme nuts are front and center. This guy says exactly that ... and says overall the two parties are one, the uniparty thing.

And he loves Trump, while not agreeing with all his stands/statements, but he sees him as essential to breaking the cabal.

He has 209k followers on YouTube, has done some radio ... I don't listen to him much. But he just had a visit to the White House, a picture with Trump ... not that big a deal, except it made NY Post news in part because he loves the QAnon phenomenon. (but doesn't swallow the whole story line, still thinks it's a great movement)

To me, this is an important part of "the big tent", except it is not so much the R tent as the anti-DeepState tent. Putting America first has to mean putting Americans first, not the oligarchs and CoCs. And I think Trump has a lot of support from the left now, especially with the newer trade deals helping union workers ...

this is the guy ... Lionel Nation is the channel, I don't even recall his real name. Trump and the clearance people had to know this guy was a big QAnon fan before he got next to Trump, so I find that an interesting little nod to that "movement", which might motivate a lot of voters from another segment of the population.

223 Republican Sen. James Inhofe told reporters Monday that Sen. John McCain was partially to blame for the controversy over the lowering of the White House flag.

Inhofe, a senior member of Senate Armed Services Committee, was highly complimentary of McCain but when asked about the flag flap he attributed it to the late senators public spat with President Donald Trump in recent years. He described both men as strong willed people.

Well, you know, frankly, I think that John McCain is partially to blame for that because he is very outspoken. He disagreed with the President in certain areas and wasnt too courteous about it, Inhofe said.

225 Regarding that insane hospital bill: We got sent a bill for $55K two months after I shattered my leg from the local hospital. Tricare was, shall we say, not amused. What had happened was that even though I was brought in by an AFB ambulance, was clearly a military dependant and had a military medical team overseeing my care; no one in the billing department thought to contact Tricare (the insurance company I listed on my discharge papers). Genius!

226 Already mentioned?

CNN caught in a huge scandal where the broke the story from "an anonymous source familiar with Michael Cohen's thinking" that Trump knew about Trump Jr. Russia meeting. Cohen's attorney, Lanny Davis, had no comment.

Except.....yeah, Cohen has already testified (under oath) that he was not aware of Trump knowing.

So within day, Lanny Davis had to clean-up this mess and say, "Nope, Cohen did not know, there is no 'OMG! Bombshell! Smoking gun to get Trump' " as reported by CNN and then picked up by WashPost and others.

And then...Lanny Davis explains that he was CNN anonymous source!

And it gets better: CNN stands by their original story despite their source issuing a correction.

Not only is CNN burned by a source, but their shoddy reporting is laid bare (and this is likely how they all do it to get Drumpf: The both used Lanny Davis as an anonymous source AND quoted him as having no comment.

Thanks for sharing VDH's article about big fish in little ponds. That mentality has infected my town's city council. When confronted, they'll tell you that those are just symbolic votes, etc. Feel good legislation is what I call it. And I didn't vote for them to do that, but fix what is wrong here in our town.

Just take a trip to Romania and any romantic ideas about socialism will be ended. It's not just the oppressive living conditions that people were forced to live in under socialism but the devastation that it leaves in it's wake.

I was struck by the large number of middle aged and older Romanians who had no idea what to do because they had spent so much of their lives being told what to do and an equally large number of younger people who only cared about one thing, getting out of Romania to the West.

MSNBC has low viewership numbers, typically 1/2 to 1/13 of Fox News. Pretty sure it's a boutique news channel that is funded by all of NBC's other channels (they have many, such as Bravo).

In addition, since they serve as the DNC channel (and were the official WH channel for Obama), they always get great tax breaks that make up for any losses MSNBC may have.

What is the difference between a Corporatist and a Socialist country who
both have all powerful private central banks creating fiat money?

Posted by: your neighbor with a telescope at August 28, 2018 08:51 AM (yhYmR)

Under corporatism companies and businesses get all the government contracts and certain government breaks. The only country that operated under corporatism for any length of time was Great Britain favoring the East India Tea Company. The US has operated under a modified form of corporatism since Lincoln invoked it during the Civil War. It is called the American System which invokes high tariffs/taxes to supply gov money to spend on those corporations. Corporatism usually devolves to corruption and graft.

Socialism is simply spending government money obtained from working people at the point of a gun to supply people who are not working for one reason or another. They call it social welfare hence socialism.

My theory is that currently the US is 1/3 socialistic, 1/3 fascist with the high regulations, 1/6 communist with stuff like nationalizing healthcare, and the small amount left is capitalist with most of that occurring on the black market.

Google search results for "Trump News" shows only the
viewing/reporting of Fake New Media. In other words, they have it
RIGGED, for me others, so that almost all stories news is
BAD. Fake CNN is prominent. Republican/Conservative Fair Media is
shut out. Illegal? 96% of...

....results on "Trump News" are from National Left-Wing Media, very
dangerous. Google others are suppressing voices of Conservatives
and hiding information and news that is good. They are controlling what
we can cannot see. This is a very serious situation-will be
addressed!

It's about time the people of Arizona got their seat back from the McCains- and cleaned it off with Lysol.

305 John McCain had a chance to be a hero again. He could have told the corrupt CIA and FBI directors to get their grubby hands off the presidential campaign and stop the criminal election meddling because elections belong to the American people, not Deep State hacks. Instead, he threw in with them. He chose self before service. In the end, he chose to be just another Swamp Creature. Sad.

And it got worse from there: "Of course she was stubborn but....She didn't smile much but....If she didn't like you, she made sure you knew it....Barbara never expressed her love openly..." and on and on he went for nearly 40 minutes! The family looked completely undisturbed by his remarks, even nodding in agreement at times. I wanted to crawl under my chair.

the trillions he "created".

Oh, please. If banks created money the government wouldn't own any printing presses. Stocks are paid for with dollars - which the government prints - or creates when it writes checks and deposits them in banks. Just like the dollars it prints, checks the government writes are funds created out of thin air; there is no U.S. Treasury account with dollars in it that gets debited when the government writes a check.

377 If you know you not are ready for a relationship why get into one and still cheat and lie. I and my wife has been married for some years now, lately she has been hiding her phone from me and keeping late nights. I was curious about her cheating on me. I had no proof and no one to run to.I contacted a Private investigator who linked me up with Mr Enrique via email. He understood me well and helped me spy on my cheating wife. He gave me the password to my wife's Gmail and Facebook account and linked all my spouse WhatsApp messages and phone conversation to me, to find out the truth. I just want to openly say thank you. Contact him today if you need help via:
