Judge Ellis in Manafort Case Denies Dox-Factory CNN's Demand for Juror Information; Says He Himself Has Been Threatened, and The Jurors Would Be As Well

Of course.

That was the point.

Also the point? Letting the jurors know that the media is very interested in digging up their identities, and will keep on trying.

The judge in Paul Manafort's fraud trial said Friday he has received threats over the case.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III made the comments as the jury deliberated for the second day, and as he rejected a motion to release information about the jurors. He said he's confident the jurors would be threatened as well if their information was public.

Ellis said that because of the threats against him, he travels with U.S. Marshals.

"The Marshals go where I go," Ellis said.

See the sidebar for Alex Griswold the cuckling jumping to his Very Good Leftwing Media Friends (and Possible Future Employer's) defense.

Spicy Take: @redsteeze writes on twitter:

We're not enemies of people. Also we want the names and addresses of jurors. No reason.

Sometimes it's better to illustrate than simply use the power you have.

Remember the libs are given the same task over and over: just. don't. be. crazy.

But they can't deny their nature--it's built into their politics that they act how they were "made".

121 I always thought that if the government was going to be weaponized, the best method would by IRS probes of the target's neighbors, in-laws, bosses, teachers/principals of their kids, doctors, favorite restaurants, barbers, dentists, plumbers, gardeners...basically anyone who appears in their banking records or school records or vacation photos. It's random in the targeted professions and not directed at the target. And if there's any ill will generated towards the target, that's all by civilians and not the bureaucrats.

Hi is trying to give Manafort all the help he can. He thinks this is a malicious prosecution, and he is right.

IMO him saying he was threatened, favors Manafort by creating some sympathy. I wonder if the jury even knows about this.

They might be afraid and think they have to convict or Muller will be up their asses. If Manafort walks I bet they all get audited by the IRS

Jury foreman, "not guilty."

Pandemonium breaks out as reporters scream about bias and tampering. There are even a few thuds as people have heart attacks.

Judge Ellis bangs on his gavel repeatedly, "I'll have order in this court!" He looks out over the mass of humanity to see a reporter still screaming. "Marshal arrest that woman for disrupting the court!"

Woman, "Do you know who I am?"
Judge Ellis, "Yes I do Ms Soledad O'Brien."

After Reagan's election in November 1980, he was appointed Associate Director of the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House. Posted by: kraken at August 17, 2018 03:28 PM (ffWPP)

358 I've been on a jury twice, and both times I paid zero attention to the final speeches by both lawyers.

I did a murder case that we later found was this guy's third trial. He had no stand as a witness. Black 22 yo hanging with high schoolers and shot one of them. We convicted him in about 30 minutes and it was probably because one of our fellow jurists was also black, had been raised close to where this crime occurred and was emphatic we not let the 'harsh childhood' crap sway us.

So then his attorney blasted us as racists (3 blacks, 3 hispanics, 6 whites, all ages). Fifteen minutes later we came back with the maximum sentence of 60 years and the judge was able to add 5 to it.

We all remembered what Charles Freeman said. And yes, he is a black guy that pronounces it Free-Man.

411 The Manafort case has nothing to do with Trump as far as I can tell from reading the indictment. Why the press feeding frenzy? I just don't get it.

Couple of reasons. First, it is connected however tangentially to Trump: he was a bad person and Trump worked with him so Trump is bad! The fact that these charges were from years ago before the campaign even started and utterly unrelated to Trump at any level is irrelevant, they want to taint President Trump with anything they can.

Second, it allows them to plausibly cover something while ignoring other stories they really don't want to cover like New Mexico school shooting trainees, worldwide terror attacks, booming economies, and a huge influx of new black business owners -- most ever.

517 Since I work in journalism, I hold the rather unpopular opinion that the media was right to ask for this information. However, I also think the judge was right to deny them access to it.

It takes time to figure out who is who and the only way is trial and error.

Sheesh. Yes, let's blame Cruz for Mueller, CNN, and whatever else that bugs you.

Hillary can't get over the election and you can't get over the convention.

528 CNN should start by listing the names address and phone numbers of its editors and reporters.
Since the left specializes in harassing those it dislikes, the idea of giving a bunch of leftists information about jurors is so off the wall I can hardly believe it.

Yes; Mueller's team of crack Hillary donors would have already supplied the list to CNN, the Jury-Tampering Network.

531 104 we had one of our employees included in a WaPo article a few weeks back- and ever since, the employee has been on leave due to threats. Just because the employee works on something important to the admin, and the press released the name and location of the job. Now, employee has to have security, the facility has had a dramatic increase in threats, and round-the-clock presence of police.

I think it's time for a sting operation.

532 It's similar to the way they got a FISA warrant months or even years after wiretapping Trump to clean up the crime. They want a judge's order so they can launder the dirty info they already have.

Sounds like a conspiracy to Obstruct Justice by the Jury-Tampering Media to me.

533 The term "mistrial" comes to mind.

Can't convict if all you end up with are mistrials due to jury intimidation.
