The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

Sarcasm: the last refuge of modest and chaste-souled people when the privacy of their soul is coarsely and intrusively invaded. Fyodor Dostoevsky

Quote II

You want to have two guys making out in front of your 4-year-old? It's OK with them. A guy smoking a joint, blowing the smoke into your little kid's face? OK with them. And I'm not exaggerating here. This is exactly what the secular movement stands for. Bill O'Reilly

Quote III

Intellectually I know that America is no better than any other country; emotionally I know she is better than every other country. Sinclair Lewis

Quote IV

“Before the camps, I regarded the existence of nationality as something that shouldn’t be noticed—nationality did not really exist, only humanity. But in the camps one learns: if you belong to a successful nation you are protected and you survive. If you are part of universal humanity—too bad for you.” Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Not only can Al Sharpton teach you how to be a pond scum sucking anti-Semite and tax dodge, he can teach you how to spell.

Sharpton concluded his comments with a reference to Franklin's 1967 hit "Respect," in which the singer spelled the word out. Sharpton and Franklin, who died last week at the age of 76, were close friends.

"So in the words of my late friend Aretha Franklin, show some R-E-S-P-I-C-T, and the next time you get a black woman and a beagle confused, remember this: I got you," Sharpton said

An incomplete story, no word if Judge Smails, Al Czervik, or alcohol was involved.

The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating a collision between a commercial powerboat and a sailboat in the Chesapeake Bay on Friday.

The two boats were off the shore of Thomas Point Park when the commercial boat, part of a charter service, and a J/105 sailboat belonging to the Chesapeake Boating Club in Eastport, collided. The powerboat slid over the sailboat, then came to rest with the cabin mounted across the middle of the deck, leaving a sizable dent.

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson. Or the Battle of Athens-August 1, 1946.
h/t Bitter Clinger

Bill White, who had fought in the Pacific while still in his teens and come home an ex-sergeant, had gotten angrier as the day wore on. At two in the afternoon he had harangued the group of veterans in the Essankay, saying: “You call yourselves GIs—you go over there and fight for three and four years—you come back and you let a bunch of draft dodgers who stayed here where it was safe, and you were making it safe for them, push you around. … If you people don’t stop this, and now is the time and place, you people wouldn’t make a pimple on a fighting GI’s ass. Get guns…”

In the early evening White went to get the guns himself. He sent two GIs to get a truck and, with a few other veterans, perhaps a dozen, he headed for the National Guard armory. There, he said in a 1969 interview, he “broke down the armory doors and took all the rifles, two Thompson sub-machine guns, and all the ammunition we could carry, loaded it up in the two-ton truck and went back to GI headquarters and passed out seventy high-powered rifles and two bandoleers of ammunition with each one.” By 9:00 P.M. Paul Cantrell, Pat Mansfield, State Rep. George Woods, who was also a member of the election commission, and about fifty deputies were locked inside the jail and going through the ballot boxes. The presence of Mansfield and Woods meant that a majority of the election commission was on hand, so the tallies could be certified and validated on the spot. More deputies were still barricaded in the courthouse, but along the streets none were to be seen. If the Cantrell forces had been a bit more wary, they might have spotted some shadows slipping up the embankment directly across the street from the jail.

It's a long read. But, a very good one. Go ahead, read it for yourself, we'll be here.

Haven't had enough government BS tonight? Then maybe Southport is the town for you.

A homeowner has been told she could be breaking the law by parking on her own driveway in Merseyside.

Helen Maloney, of Emmanuel Road, Southport, said she received a letter from Sefton Council as she does not have a dropped kerb and has to drive over the pavement.

About 20 Sefton residents had been sent similar letters, the council said.

The homeowners had been asked to take the "necessary corrective action", a spokesman for Sefton Council said

You kick a dog long enough, the dog will bite back. NARL being cute. Someday, sometime, somewhere will be sorry that they have made a mockery of this debate.

The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) has always promoted abortion as a fundamental right of women – sacrosanct and inviolable. But how much do these people really respect the women they purport to represent?

The Oregon chapter of NARAL has partnered with a local ice cream shop to market new flavor: Rocky Roe v. Wade.

Louisiana commission blocks two banks from $600 million road plan because of gun sales policies
There are 2 comments on the The Advocate story from Thursday Aug 16, titled Louisiana commission blocks two banks from $600 million road plan because of gun sales policies. In it, The Advocate reports that:

State Treasurer John Schroder and Senate President John Alario, R-Westwego, squared off Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at a State Bond Commission meeting over excluding two banks from work on loans to fund highway projects. Schroder, right, and Alario are shown in this file photograph from December 2017 Bond Commission meeting.

Waiting to hear from the usual suspects (Kristol, French, Will, et al) that this is criminal and how it shouldn't stand. They too can F-off.

Devastated woman, whose husband tried to kill her by flying a PLANE into their home after blazing row but succeeded only in killing himself, insists he was a 'fantastic guy' and she'll 'never understand what was in his head'

Duane 'Rhedd' Youd was killed Monday after he intentionally flew a plane into his home in Payson, Utah, where his wife Sandy and son were sleeping

Both escaped unharmed as flames engulfed the two-story home in Payson, Utah
Sandy has said she will 'never understand' what was going through his head

She described him as a 'fantastic guy' in an interview days after the deadly crash
Police say Rhedd was arrested for assaulting his wife the night before the crash
After making bail, he went to local airport and flew plane directly into the home

For those of you who occasionally break free of this smart military blog, you may have heard of Smallest Minority blog at http://smallestminority.blogspot.com . Kevin routinely posts discourse with gun grabbers, and he does great work.

He's run into some health trouble, and his family has set up a gofundme page. The goal is a very modest $5k, but I think he's going to need more than that. I am posting this here in the hopes the Horde can do for him what it did for the Scout Sniper raffle and blow the doors off the goal.

26 OK, as a friend puts it, I'm going to bed smarter tonight.

When the B-29 "Bockscar" landed at Okinawa on Aug. 9 1945, after dropping Fat Man on Nagasaki, it had 7 gallons of fuel left. Seven gallons. Less than a minute's operation of the engines (though the plane had lost two of its engines in the final minutes before landing).

I knew the whole mission was cursed/messed up, but didn't realize it was that close to disaster. And of course Okinawa was the "bingo" field, the emergency one, much closer than "home", which was Tinian.

56 A follow up on last nights credit card drama -

I pulled all info together - balances, percentage rates, minimums, etc and came up with "the plan". Wait till the afternoon and approach hubby with what we have to do and how we will do it. He's on board. Yeah!

Then I find out there is another $18k I did not see at first glance. I went ballistic. Homicide may have been mentioned. I apologized after I cooled down and he said there was no need for me to, he was wrong, foolish and he knows it. He handed over all financial dealings to me along with all his income (except for small "allowance"). I have all his credit/debit cards, I have his bank user id and password and all mail goes through me first. I gave him one of my credit cards that I never use to keep on him in case of a true emergency. He knows he must pay cash for everything. I'll shut that card right down the first time he uses it for gas or cigars or booze or Amazon.

I made a spreadsheet and I taped it to the fridge so he can see several times a day how he blew $92k and how much is owed each month and how much interest a month it is costing. The "Sheet of Shame". But it will be updated monthly so he can see the progress.

Probably will take 5 years, optimistically, to dig out of this mess. I know I can do it and at least he is done digging. Thank you all for your advice/suggestions/sympathy last night. I truly might have left home, killed myself, went nuts if I hadn't been able to talk to my friends in the grey boxes. It's not the kind of thing you want to tell your kids or your meatspace friends. I don't want them to think know he's a dumbass.

Thanks, dartist. But what's involved in curing? Easy to do at home/any special gear?

Just a ziplock bag and room in the fridge for 10 days. I put the bag in a bowl just in case. Pull it out after 10, rinse, pat dry and smoke or cook 200-225 degrees until 140 internal. Lasts forever frozen.

Posted by: rhomboid at August 19, 2018 10:08 PM (QDnY+)

I've only cured corned beef, but assuming it's the same for bacon, just salting it. You might need Prague powder #2 a.k.a. curing salt a.k.a. pink salt which is salt with some sodium nitrate and sodium nitrite but that's easy to find. It keeps the red color; curing with ordinary salt turns it gray.

Then you just brine or rub it and stick it in the refrigerator. But wait for dartist's recipe first for the ratios. If you want to go balls out and just start your own home charcuterie then get the Codex Ruhlmanomicon: Ruhlman's Charcuterie.

87 Very nice ONT, Misanthropic Humanitarian

I like the western picture. It looks like in the San Juans mountains of Colorado, but it could be in the Collegiate Range as well. It is not the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range.

Have a great night. I'll dream about knife-edge ridge-lines and crumbly San Juan rock at the angle of repose slanting to a 1,000 foot drop, and the only path is across.

For everyone else, may you dream of unexpected tax refunds, an old friend reentering your life after she retired as a trust fund manager, or your spouse deciding shopping is boring, and learns to cook healthy meals. In bluebell's case, since she is already a Cordon Bleu cook, maybe she can dream of splitting the handle of a spork in the 10 ring with a shiv.

91 Hot Air descends yet farther into Weekly Standard territory.

Taylor Millard explained that when the news media organizations demanded the names of the Manafort jurors during jury deliberations, that was just standard operating procedure - these saintly news organizations obviously had no intention of trying to intimidate the jurors while they deliberated. Why, they just wanted the juror names in advance of the verdict so they could line up exclusive interviews!

Since this is such a standard media procedure, I assumed that he would give examples of other high-profile trials where news media organizations demanded the names of jurors during jury deliberations. He didn't do so, almost certainly because the examples don't exist.

Fortunately, he is getting reamed in the comments.

The pastrami recipe I used was the amazingribs one, which I think was featured recently in a food thread. It's a recursive recipe because you have to do their corned beef first, then come back and do the pastrami. After smoking I chilled it in a cooler in the garage overnight to set it and then steamed it on a steamer tray in a pressure cooker (no pressure, just a steam vessel for reheating).

Also the corned beef recipe uses Prague #1, not sure what I was on about upthread.

Asia Argento, some actress who was dating Anthony Bourdain before he killed himself, was one of Uncle Harvey's accusers.

Well, it turned out she was #MeToo herself. She had to pay hush money to some former child actor who claimed she banged him when he was 17. CA age of consent is 18 and was at the time.

That was a good article.

I love the New York Times quotes:

But on August 2 a page-one headline in The New York Times wrongly trumpeted the news: TENNESSEE SHERIFF is SLAIN IN PRIMARY DAY VIOLENCE .

An inaccurate NYT headline? That's unpossible.

The New York Times concluded: "Corruption, when and where it exists, demands reform, and even in the most corrupt and boss-ridden communities, there are peaceful means by which reform can be achieved. But there is no substitute, in a democracy, for orderly process."

Orderly process in a county totally controlled by a corrupt party machine. How does that work, exactly?

It is because of the Declaration of Independence--the why,

The Bill of Rights--that which is inalienable and applicable for all,

The Constitution--the blueprint plus the careful adherence for well over 200 years that has allowed us to flourish and become the most exceptional country on the planet, populated by an extraordinary people.

Our country is unique in the world. We have survived circumstances that would have destroyed lesser countries and come away stronger for it.

I have complete faith we will survive this latest problem in time, because we are Americans, and as such are denied the option of failure.

187 Ok, I'll say what I was going to say on a gun thread. I will continue to file FBI complaints. Those complaints will continue to be ignored by the U.S. Attorneys who work for the Department of Justice. Are my complaints ill-founded? No, they are right on the mark. Then why are they being ignored? I have filed a complaint with the DOJ-IG about that. My complaint will also be ignored.
Here are the facts. The Supreme Court in the case of U.S. Vs Price ruled about the law I often quote (18 USC 241):
"The language of section 241 is plain and unlimited... its language
embraces all of the rights and privileges secured to citizens by all of
the Constitution and all of the laws of the United States."(emphasis by the Supreme Court)
However, the DOJ - in the more than 140 years that the law in its various forms has existed, has only used it to protect abstract 14th amendment due process rights, and never used it to protect 1st and 2nd amendment rights.

It and 18 USC 242 are the only laws protecting our constitutional rights. Laws are necessary to protect the constitution because no criminal can be charged with a constitutional violation, only with a violation of the law. Neither 241 nor 242 has ever been used to protect 1st or 2nd amendment rights.

What that means from a legal standpoint is that the Government does not protect our rights from violation by criminals. Any Blue state can pass a law outlawing Conservative Speech without fear that they would be charged with a crime. (It would be a direct felony violation of 241 to even agree to do that - let alone actually do it, and it would be a violation of 242 to try to enforce such a law) The only recourse against such a law is to file a lawsuit to try to get the anti conservative speech law declared "Unconstitutional". In other words there is only a civil action to be taken against criminals.

Imagine for a second that the only thing you could do about murder would be a civil suit against the killer. I think you can agree that would be weak sauce indeed. The people who seek to kill our Constitutional rights are equally undeterred. That is why bigots push gun control laws; even though they are committing felonies when they do so - they know they won't be prosecuted for them.

The real threat to the country is not the bureaucrats, it is the U.S. Attorneys who are violating their oaths of office to 1. Preserve and Protect the Constitution, 2 faithfully execute the laws of the United States. These are the true enablers of the deep state swamp - without them the swamp quickly vanishes. The U.S. Attorneys are why Lois Lerner walks around freely and had no fear that her violations of law would earn her prison time.
When the burning times come remember who the real enemies of the Constitution are, and act accordingly.

197 From the Era of Good Feelings and Lace Wigs But Mostly Lace Wigs, the Smallest Minority from 2003:

"The first line of the Declaration is one strongly definitive of an American ideal - equality of birth.

There is a story, a joke in some ways, an allegory in others, that dates way back. In it, a British Lord travels to the Frontier West, America in the 1800's. His horse throws a shoe on the trail, so at the first little frontier town he comes to, he finds a blacksmith's shop to have the shoe replaced. As he rides up, he sees a large, sweaty, filthy man hammering on a piece of red-hot iron. The Lord sits on his horse, waiting to be served, but the blacksmith doesn't pay him any attention and continues to work his iron. Finally, the Lord, outraged to have been ignored this way by an obvious servant, dismounts, approaches the 'smith, and taps the man on the shoulder with his riding crop.

"You, man!" he barks, "Who is your Master! I wish to have a word with him!"

The blacksmith turns, looks at the Englishman, spits a stream of tobacco juice on the point of the Lord's boot and says,

"That sumbitch ain't been born."

Be well, friend.

JAS - know what you mean, but not worried. If he ever uses it for
anything, I will know immediately since it is never used by me. He needs
to have something he can go to in an actual emergency. By which I mean a
breakdown on the highway or some such. At this point I don't think he
would dare cross me. He did what he did cause he could hide it, but now
the chickens have come home to roost and he can't.

That's a great story. I've heard it in different forms, so it may be apocryphal. The version I'm most familiar with had the American landowner mucking out his stable when the British Lord approached.

Whether it is literally true or not, it has a lot to say about the American character and our way of life.

I've long loved the story of the Batte of Athens. Even though it happened in my neck of the woods, when I bring it up in conversation with my bar customers, too often the response I get back is "Is that what the movie 300 is about?"

My answer is usually "Well....kinda".

I mostly like it because it cements two axioms I was taught at an early age:

Too be righteously indignant, you must first Be righteous.

And

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good people to do nothing.

They both typically play the joke of being the sensible guy caught up in a situation in which they are surrounded by irrational people, in whose presence they'll make ironic comments. But beyond that, there's nothing in common with their methods of performance. They acted in similar kinds of roles, that's it. Allen did express his admiration for Hope, but really they have distinctly different performances. Only an idiot could fail to perceive this.

That's for my Windoze 7 machine, anyway.

A neighbor of mine died last summer, 90 or 91. He was a fixture around here. His request was to buried in his overalls in a pine box. His request was honored.

It was once remarked that he ran his mouth so much that the undertaker would have to wire his jaw shut. I looked carefully to see if I could see any wires. They did a good job.

And thus an era ended.

My father's wife (she wasn't my stepmom 'cause I was 30 when they married) had been married twice before (widowed) and remarried yet again after my dad's death. 355 Lots of stuff at Quora about video gaming, and various complaints about it.

The impression I get is that game developers have gone apeshit nuts about trying to hypermonetize the games. You have to buy not only the console and the game, but also the upgrades, the add-ons, the weapons for the game, your partners/team for the game, new levels to the game, new portals inside of the game, new easter eggs, etc etc etc.

Is this what's going on with videogames, or is there more I'm missing?

... and now for a massive injection of testosterone and to make up for no Gun Thread:

"The Best Handgun Caliber - A Real World Study"

https://www.youtube.com/watch
?v=nycYxb-zNwc

(If you don't trust the link, search for the title)

According to this guy:

Everything between .380 automatic and .44 Magnum is, based on police statistics, roughly equal. Stay away from .32 and under; .22 short, long & LR are truly poor choices for personal protection or bug-out, 12ga shotguns really are heavy medicine, and .454 Casull is about as likely to put a hole in Level IIIA body armor than 5.56mm.

He makes a compelling set of arguments, but I suspect that there's a bit more to it ... I suspect that .380 is sufficient, and everything above more-than-sufficient, but not enough to make a difference on normal people (I wonder what difference more meth-heads would make to his conclusions). 5.56mm (a real rifle round) and 00 12ga are more-than-sufficient, as expected, and as shown.

401 Amazon sells treadle belts. I like the Treadle Lady on Etsy as she has a couple different grades of leather belts. Aquarium tubing works in a pinch.

I have a G4 iBook coming this week. It was $35 and shipping was almost as much. I have one that I picked up for that price from the scrap bin at Free Geeks. Anyone that thinks Apple has good engineering should try putting a hard drive into one. You have to almost completely dismantle it to get to it. But I'm tired of reading Ace on my iPhone, so thought it would be a good computer for that. I use an old Thinkpad running Linux Mint to connect to the work VPN. I guess I just like old machines.

And, because I asked if anyone else offered to do it, I get to write a column on Low End Macs about Palms. I hope I get to retire soon. Work is getting in the way of fun.

402 Arbalest...

I'd imagine that OUTSIDE OF the millions slain via execution by various Nazi, Soviet and Chinese handguns, the rankings on "deadliest" would quite likely be:

9 mm Para.

.38 Spl.

.22 LR.

Not because any of them are more effective in a rounds-on-target / fatality matrix.

But because of the sheer gross numbers of body counts racked up by each. And of course, the .22 will have a higher "survivor" rate, but the overall body count is HUGE, just owing to the numbers felled by that humble loading.

Poorer people tend to buy guns at the bottom of the food chain. R&G .22s and .38s, as well as Raven, Jennings and other bottom shelf .22s are beyond counting in the ghettos and barrios of America, and many other countries, beside.

And it's those poorer areas where the homicide rates are the highest.

Not too many H&K or Sig Sauer pistols being picked up by cops in arrests or post-shooting evidence. And if they are, they're usually guns that've been stolen from law-abiding owners.

Now, as to the best handgun cartridge for self defense?

Easy. It's loaded into whatever gun I'm closest to being able to grab at that moment in time.

The one in the end table by the front door, is in .45 ACP. No need to skimp, when weight and capacity isn't limited by clothing, burden and fatigue.

If you want to try Linux on a Mac, the easiest no fuss no muss way would be to get Paralles for Mac.

It allows you to install other OS on a Mac as a virtual machines.

You can install many flavors of Linux straight from the drop downs.

My Mac laptop has Win7, Win 8, Ubuntu, and Mint.

The best thing about paralles is that you can run the other VMs in coherence mode that seemlessly melds the vm with the Mac OS.

422 355 The whole micro transaction thing is a sore spot in the gaming community, but it can be a part of a conflict between publishers and gamers over recouping costs as well.

I bought Castlevania II in 1988 for $39.99, which an online inflation calculator tells me is the equivalent of just over $85 today. Outside of Collector or related edition, no one charges that.

Yet gamers are use to high end graphics, music and often many hours of gameplay or multiplayer, and while higher volume of sales helps and advancing tech can make things easier, there is still a large layout for many games, particularly AAA games. On the other hand, there are tons of cheap indy games available of varying cost and quality.

So paying extra for say a Batman suit that doesn't change the game play itself but may remind you of your favorite version/movie representation of the character is one way of getting a few extra shekels for the developer. On the other hand there is the pay to win model where you can buy better gear or level up faster which can be truly hated ( Hi Era's Battlefront 2) as it requires either more cash layout vs hours and hours of grinding to get to a similar point.

Right now it seems a bit Wild West in terms of publishers trying to get more money and fans deciding if they are going to go along with this or decide where the dlc line is, and what is unacceptable to the larger fan base for publishers to push.

Long and short, it is Capitalism playing out right in front of us, so far with very limited gov interference, but who can guess how long that situation will stand.

Particularly if the customers decide that they are going to go class action over buying games that don't say that the company set it up so they need to shell out more in the digital realm to actually get the game play they were told they were buying. And given how govt regulation tends to go it's probably in companies best interest to figure out how to be honest with customers and find a balance before some govt. does it for them.

Here's the thing though. They took out the microtransactions from Battlefront 2 at launch and then EA went and said that it wasn't actually going to affect their bottom line. Then you have Warner Bros taking out the Microtransactions on Shadow of War and saying that this was the game how it should have been.

So there is a bit of Capitalism at play, but for the most part it's the publishers who have been looking at free mobile games making all this money from microtransactions and deciding that they want to stick those mechanics into $60 games. So they've decided that they don't want to just make a lot of money, they want to make ALL the money, bleeding the customer base dry. Its why they keep pushing the "single player is dead" bullshit. Not as easy to get people dumping money in constantly to a single player experience.

430 Bete, thanks for that explanation. Makes a lot of sense.

Re 'pay to win,' I can especially understand that. As some of you may know, I'm big on playing hold'em poker, and the BIG EVENT in the poker world is the World Series Of Poker, which is played out every year over several weeks at the Rio in Vegas. Also, a couple of years ago, and against the wishes of most of the players, the WSOP decided that to improve their TV ratings, they would POSTPONE THE FINAL 10-PLAYER SHOWDOWN until November, MONTHS after every other WSOP event has concluded.

Also, imagine playing all the way to become the poker player with the 10th most chips in the tournament on, say, June 20... and then being told, congratulations, you now have to drop everything and wait until NOVEMBER to continue playing. Some of these people actually have real jobs.

Anyway, I've heard that there have been a few times where mega-rich celebs have offered the WSOP foundation tons of money-- hundreds of thousands of dollars-- to be able to bypass all the other entrants in the WSOP Main Event (that's what the biggest WSOP tournament is called, and it has a prize pool of tens of millions of dollars) and actually COME IN AND START at the final table, along with the other 10 players. It's ridiculous but that's basically what "play to win" would and could ultimately cause to happen, if and when the philosophy is played out to its fullest.

You know it's gotta be tempting for the WSOP foundation to take said celeb's ton of money. On the other hand, they've got the integrity of the tournament to think about.

Anyway. Thanks again for the explanation.

433 @ X-ray. Concur.

I have suggested to some COBs that a good Weekend Thread, could be "Moron Projects", where we could send photos and descriptions of work performed.

This could run from an 'ette's quilt, to my newly built front stairs, railings and porch railings, to a precision rifle that Weasel put together, and etc.

While all guns are "tools", not all tools of course, are guns.

Frankly, the old saying that "A man is defined by his tools", rings true. Especially if you index-in the gun inventory into that equation.

And the average U.S. "hobbyist" has at his disposal, so much more of an inventory of precision tools of every description, and often the skills to use them, as to render ANY BATFE regulation.... but a laughable suggestion at best.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon

Yup. Thus the 'saving up the money'. Engine is a small block, but still making ~430 ft-lbs on the dyno, so torque rating is an issue, but more importantly, the rear end is 3.73, and 600 has gear ratios/overdrive ratio that is desirable.

478 JunieB (WELCOME!) : how do I refresh the conversation without having to jump to the top of the page all the time?

Calm Mentor (YAY JOB SUCCESS!): If you have not made a reply comment, just refresh. If you have made a comment, no joy, gotta start from the top on down, using the "jump to bottom" ling up top, below the content.

It is helpful to remember the comment number above your reply, so as to go back to it.

I don't know about other browsers, but on Opera, one can right-click on the tab and choose "Duplicate tab".

I do that, then use the reply box on the duplicate, hit post, optionally jump to bottom to check the bottom of the thread to see it posted okay, close the tab.

Continue reading on your original tab from the comment where you started then refreshing as usual.

Don't know if this helps JunieB (or anyone else), but this is my workaround for post-comment top-of-thread problem.

Pixyware challenges users' ingenuity. Why we love it.

Buy the Vic.

I'd bid low as you think you can get away with, WITH the caveat of you having to make sure that you can move it across the border in light of all the U.S. Spec requirements.

But every part you need to bring it to U.S. spec, is piled up in abundance in some U.S. junkyard, 'tween you and your AZ digs.

Well, it's illegal under U.S. law for me to bring a car to the USA with the intent of selling it there. A violation of immigration law. I'm putting an American car salesman out of work, doncha know. That is how it was explained to me by USCBP.

Now, if the car were pre-sold, and I were just delivering it to it's new owner, then everything is OK.

Very solid film, cool story, Billy Zane is charismatic as a motherfucker and the soundtrack...ssooooooooo bad ass! Got introduced to Filter and Machine Head with two soundtrack. Did it also have Sepultura? Might have had Sepultura. Definitely had Megadeth. Lots of great shit.

For all these years, the powers that be figured out how to get low income people to be able to afford houses. The houses they can afford were older houses in older neighborhoods. One of the problems is, the people that move in don't know how to or can't afford to do basic maintenance . The house falls apart, the area deteriorates, the people move to the next area they can afford to buy, but not maintain.

One time I was in Jamaica at a scenic location. A couple walked up to me, noticed all my camera gear, and asked if I would take their picture with their camera. I found this nice bridge, had them stand on it, posed them, took the picture. Memory burn of event.

A decade or so later I'm reading this book about some psycho guy who killed his wife in cold blood. On the back flap of the book is a picture of the couple together in happier times.

Yes.

My picture.
