You have to look closely... Pet Tattoos? I have had some pets who were very difficult to photograph satisfactorily. Perhaps you have, too. Think about this before committing to a pet tattoo. How much harder must it be to capture the personality of a pet on skin? Here are some bad pet tattoos. Some of them are worse than others. PetMorons We got to see his furbabies, but we didn't get to meet The Invisible Hand's Grand Baby (that's what his wife calls her, anyway) last week. Kiwi is a rescued Vizsla who followed his stepdaughter home from a Costa Rican dump where she hung out, by trotting after his stepdaughter's car. She's legal, with papers . . .What an extraordinarily smart move for a dog to make! And what an exotic background Kiwi has. Here she is looking a little more ready for action than Darla. We saw Darla last week when she was fully awake. This is Cheyenne - classy, classy Cheyenne. I guess it's a testament to how calm she is that she'll flop over and go to sleep like this! Like manspreading, but way cuter. Oh, I do love Saturday's on Ace's site so I can see everyone's pets. Here are my papillons doing what they love - sailing. Papillons are not a well known breed - they are loving, happy little dogs without the attitude of a chihuahua. Happiest with their humans, playful and great entertainment. First pupper is Scooter - a 12 year old Papillon/Chihuahua mix who we rescued 9 years ago. He's an absolute love and snuggles with everyone, even if he just met you. He walks up and down the docks getting held at every boat party. Second pupper is Lexi - a 6 1/2 year old Papillon. She is seldom without her signature ball and is always happy and kissy. Last picture is them together - they love each other, snuggle together and are not often far apart. Below is a picture of our cat "Tau" (that's his fancy name) Mrs. WTF calls him "Boobers" and I call him little buddy. He's a 3 year old Rag Doll breed. He is the best cat we've ever owned - even tempered and loving. I have to say that I have quite a few tooth and claw scars on my arms from him. We play and he gets rambunctious with me. He just licks my wife. at g mail dot com No need to send photos if you sent them to Misanthropic Humanitarian in early August. He'll be posting those photos upon his return. Have a great weekend. What a coincidence. I went to the Washington National Zoo today. Loved the elephants, otters, the bald eagle and the Amazon rain forest displays.
Everything else was a typical exhibit where you had to work hard to actually find the featured animal asleep under a tree far, far away from where the public could see. I had a better time observing the mammals that came here from all around the world: Australia, Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas. Regardless of where they came from you can observe the same prospective mating rituals, pair bonding, brood pairing, alienation of pairing, and abandonment of the older and sicker members of the herd. You can also observe confusing and irrational interactions between the juveniles of the species and their frustrated parents. Anyway, a good day on the whole. A very nice zoo. My old dog goes in Monday to have a polyp removed from her ear and a couple of teeth pulled. She's 10 and she hasn't felt well lately. The polyp is infected so I'm hoping she'll feel better afterwards. She's going to be chipped too. And the latest rescue, Gary, goes in the same day for a rabies shot and to get chipped. I wanted to get my dogs and cats chipped before the move.

Speaking of butterflies, Layla's most favorite thing is stalking them on sandbars in our creek. She'll go into a rigid point, slowly edge toward them, then say "the hell with THIS" and charge them, leaping into the air and snapping at them as they fly off. She actually caught one last week and promptly ate it.

County fairs always had unusual animal shows. The chicken that played the piano, Racing pigs, (loved Oreo cookies) on and on. Probably some are still around.

I hope you like them because the man at the aquarium said he won't take them back.

You have to figure that somewhere, sometime, the pups were threatened or even hurt by a specific type of human and a specific fear/dislike was imprinted.
That happens. I had a friend with a rescue mutt that was fine with everybody... unless they were wearing a baseball cap. Then he was scared poopless. Poor thing. Posted by: mikeski at August 18, 2018 06:08 PM (P1f+c) 183
Daughter's foundling mutt doesn't like most men, hides (but will defend herself if pushed) if men get loud or start waving their arms around, and she isn't a big fan of guys in hats. Daughter has had her since she was roughy 4 months old, but those first four months must've been pretty bad.

Loved the "co-pilot" sticker.
The best thing about the Pet Thread is that every pet on it has a story. Posted by: creeper at August 18, 2018 07:02 PM (atTnz) 186
"He bit a friend's kid in the face when he got to close to his food bowl one time. The kids' mom said it was his own fault for messing with the dog when he was eating after she told him not to do that. " So many good dogs have been put down early because of ignorant kids. A byproduct of ignorant parents, and it's a shame that kids get hurt for no reason. NEVER interfere with a dog that is eating. Once you put that bowl or treat down to them it is theirs, and the "guarding food" instinct kicks in. You are asking to get bit. For a dog that is really a 'guarder', you can approach at a safe distance and drop a bit of food or treat for them. This will help them get over the instinct that you are going to try to take their food away. This method really helped with our Bahamian Potcake, she quit growling and lip curling if you even walked by while she was eating. Posted by: BoyNsea at August 18, 2018 08:40 PM (Fks5r) 187
I thought it was desirable that your dog should recognize you as the alpha and give you access to the food whenever...?
Cute pet pix... All the laid-back doggehs, and those papillions are adorable. That is one regal-looking cat! Posted by: Gem at August 19, 2018 10:41 AM (XoAz8) Processing 0.03, elapsed 0.032 seconds. |
