37 Why "New England"? This is mainstream impressionism so, what, at least post-1870? It's not as if New England were some newfangled concept being explained in Olde England.

New England is six diverse states, spanning the rocky northern shores of Maine, the harsh serenity of the Green and White Mountains, the exquisite shoreline of Massachusetts, and those two little rump states that don't really count as New England.

38 At my office, they have puzzles in the break room that people sometimes work on. When the puzzle is finished, they take it, glue it to a piece of cardboard, and hang them up in the convergence rooms.

The current puzzle is an impressionist painting like this and it's fucking infuriating. Been sitting on the table for like 6 months and pretty much only the edges are completed.

So yeah, that's all I got about this

"Free abortion on demand can we do it? Yes we can!"
"We're here we're queer we're socialists; don't f*** with us!"

"Whose streets? Our streets!"
"How do we get out of this mess? Revolution nothing less!"

Yeah, libertarianism in some of its forms is just anarchism with a free market layer on top. A lot of people in the tech industry are like that. Oh, and they hold you in contempt.

Good news, there is a cure. We call it February, March and April (and sometimes May). Picture an evening huddled by the wood stove in the last week of April rolling up old medical records to throw in stove for heat because you ran out of fire wood and there is too much snow on the ground to go out and look for dead falls (and fuel oil is quite expensive). I do agree however that it is pretty at times, and off the beaten path parts are quite charming.

Because of the above stated "cure" I'm trying to get wifey to at least look at the mountains of Virginia or Eastern Tennessee for when we finally stop this work stuff.

If you're into this sort of thing, Ron Rosenbaum's "Explaining Hitler" is a superb read. It's not yet another book *about* Hitler; it's a comparison of the sober critical approaches that well-regarded historians have taken to explaining him (Alan Bullock, Ian Kershaw, etc.) Very interesting to see different deeply-researched studies compared and discussed.

No. But there is an excellent chapter about the theory that Hitler's anti-Semitism came as the result of syphilis he caught from a Jewish prostitute during his down-and-out years in Vienna and how some apologists seize on this as the "reason" for the Holocaust, seeing it as a way of telling the Jews they brought it on themselves.
