Only after sustained complaint from conservatives has FaceBook relented and admitted, Whoops, look like we jumped the gun and banned another conservative message by "accident." Boy, is our face red.

Funny how these mistakes only tend in a single direction.

And note that without the social pressure applied against FaceBook, they would have remained firm in their initial decision to censor.

And note that David French, Jonah Goldberg, Ben Shapiro et al. all criticize conservatives when they apply such social pressure to reverse the censorial decisions provoked by leftwing social pressure.

All these fine defenders of Free Speech enjoy lecturing conservatives to never, ever pressure a corporate entity to stop censoring people, whereas they have precious little to say about the left's pressure campaigns.

At least, they have nothing to say about such campaigns until those campaigns threaten them, or their friends, like Bari Weiss and Kevin Williamson.

Only then do they decide that it's appropriate and right to apply counter-pressure to undo the censorious left's victories in stamping out conservative speech.

One begins to suspect that just perhaps they view many of the left's enemies as their own enemies, and are glad of the chance to tacitly support the left's censorship campaigns in their own petty squabbles and fights for positioning.

Hey, if they help the left destroy their rivals for control of the conservative movement, they'll get to own their ineffectual, progressivism-validating controlled opposition party back again. They won't actually be able to advance any conservative goals, but that was never their game in the first place: this has always just been a money-making hustle. As long as they're on top of the movement, it doesn't matter if the movement is simply a pretend-opposition. They're still on top of it and makin' bank.

So, as long as Mssrs. Shapiro, French, Goldberg, and Williamson, and their dear friend Bari Weiss aren't the target of these campaigns: bow to your corporate overlords and just accept that leftwing censorship is organic and good, and rightwing counter-censorship is vicious harassment of poor defenseless monopolistic many-billion-dollar corporations.

Oh, and by the way, the predicted Next Phase is already here. Check out Vox's headline, that the "most extreme" YouTubers are forcing YouTube to ban them next.

Oh, and Candace Owens is apparently one of those "most extreme" creators.

Of course there's a list, because this is about killing *influential* voices, people who are too effective at competing with the MSM/the Left's narrative. One recent example: Twitter shadowbanned 4 Congressmen --- who just happened to be the leading voices of the FISA abuse investigation (Nunes et al).

They change some of the actors midseries, but it's fantastic, and goes into depth about the politics and machinations of how he came to power. How Germany resisted him at first, but with control of the media they owned the message and kept pushing and pushing, and when a German ambassador was shot by a man who was Jewish, that provided the big break they needed to cement the 'Joos es eeeevil' line.

One thing they DON'T mention - and wish they did - is how the firearm list was used by the Nazis to confiscate firearms from opponents once they got enough power, so there was little chance of resistance.

Seriously, thinking about all that over, if they succeed in their censorship they will set the stage for a truly terrible despot and that will be that.

That's one of the ways Mexico's PRI kept Mexico a single-party state for 70 years, they taxed newsprint, released it only to "reliable" papers, and made papers print "news" for them.

It got so bad that the PRI finally had to agree to allow the planted news articles to be published with titles in italics so the reporters themselves wouldn't be hoaxed.

He has praised and cheered every conservative policy and move Trump has made, including tax cuts, regulatory reform, shredding the Iran deal, moving the embassy to Jerusalem, education reform, judges, etc. He has said over and over again that he hopes Trump succeeds. He has not in any way intimated that people should vote for anyone but Republicans in the mid terms.

Have you noticed that Kurt Schlichter, who ace quotes all the time and who is merciless in his criticism of the Cruise Captain and his shipmates, does not lump in Shapiro with the others.

Disclaimer: I find Ben Shapiro's analysis is often simplistic, off the cuff and not based on data, and many times just plain incorrect. I share ace's criticism that he is often way too differential to the "hey its a private company, they can do what they want" theory that has hampered conservatives and been used as a weapon against us. However, this idea that he is in favor of censorship simply isn't based in fact. in fact, he has given a platform on his podcast to people like Laura Southern and based stick man (off the top of my head, I mostly listen to the Federalist podcasts now).
