Of Course: "We Don't Tip Terrorist" Note Written at Top of Receipt Revealed to be Another Hate Hoax Lie

The restaurant banned the customer without, apparently, inquiring too much about whether this was real, or whether this looked just like the waiter's handwriting.

The local newspaper pushed this story for a week without wondering whether maybe Khalil Cavil is the person who doesn't understand that it would be "we don't tip terrorists" not the gibberish "we don't tip terrorist."

And now another fake hate hoax has consumed America -- and brought fear and hatred on to the head of a completely-innocent person -- just because cowardly corporations and craven newspapers are absolutely determined to push Social Justice Warrior hoaxes without any fact-checking at all, because Face Checking Is Racist Now.

From CBS News:

On the bill, Khalil's name was circled and the words, "we don't tip terrorist," were written at the top.

Cavil wrote in his post, which was deleted as of Tuesday morning: "I share this because I want people to understand that this racism, and this hatred still exists. Although, this is nothing new, it is still something that will test your faith." Cavil's Facebook page also appears to have been deleted.

Saltgrass originally said it had banned the customer blamed for the message. But now, the restaurant's corporate office says it has learned the story was a hoax.

Saltgrass' treatment of customers is A++++.

"After further investigation, we have learned that our employee fabricated the entire story," Terry Turney, COO of Saltgrass Steak House, told the Odessa American in a statement. "The customer has been contacted and invited back to our restaurant to dine on us. Racism of any form is intolerable, and we will always act swiftly should it occur in any of our establishments.

"Falsely accusing someone of racism is equaling disturbing," Turney said.

It is equally disturbing -- which is why Saltgrass Steak House should be boycotted.

They participated in a completely false hoax. Boycott these fuckers until they are Made to Care.

And who wants to get accused of racism just to eat a shitty chain's steak?

39 Saw that and immediately thought "99% chance of hoax." Its not that there are no jerks in the world, I mean the customer put no tip on the bill (although it could have been in cash or included in the bill). But this kind of thing I've seen over and over and almost always its fake. So reliably so you can just presume and then admit you were mistaken later without any concern.

Its such an established, boring pattern now its ridiculous. The first clue is that this was put on nationwide news. If it really happened, its just going to be some annoyed person at a restaurant, not a national event.

The second clue is that the writing looks pretty feminine and the customer was supposedly a dude.

The third clue is that someone wrote on the receipt. When is the last time anyone anywhere did this for real, except for numbers? Ever?

The fourth clue is the "terrorist" line, which just looks fake and silly, forced.

Even if there had not been what, half a dozen previous "evil receipt note" frauds in the past, this look dubious.

85 Our waitress was a whiny, lazy gurl with a snotty attitude, and we were being polite.

Yeah I've had crappy servers before. Rarely. They usually work hard and do good work or at worst indifferent. But one particular time, the woman was bitchy, argued with us when we got the wrong order, was rude and slow. I have no idea what her problem was, maybe just a bad day. But she got no tip.

I tip unless I'm either too broke or the service is horrible. Its not their fault if the food is lousy, its not even usually their fault if the food is slow.

Its a bit overstated how much servers "need" tips -- my girlfriend had a dresser drawer FULL OF CASH from tips, she was angry when she got less than $80 a night in tips in the 1990s. I barely made that a day (after taxes) in total pay from my job at the time. They make pretty good money overall with tips and your omitting once in a while isn't going to put them in the poor house.

But its pretty mean to not usually give the servers some because it is taxed and most places split the tips between all servers and the cooks (and barkeeps in some places, although they're usually swimming in tips).

I would advise anyone young today that your best employment bet (unless you've got connections that will land you in some big finance firm if you just keep your nose clean) is to avoid all of the big 4 year schools like the plague, and get a decent 2 year degree at a local, low key community college, focused on something that is actually tied to a real job. (lots of health care specialties, electronics, ac repair, whatever) Then get out and get a job. IF after a couple of years you are really inspired to get a fancier degree because you have a plan for your life, then go ahead. It'll be easier if you've got the associate 2 year degree under your belt already, and having worked already will make you appreciate how easy school really is.

But speaking of calculating tips..

Some restaurant chains (all the Darden restaurants like Olive Garden & Chilis, etc.) now have a little kiosk thingy sitting on the table.. if you are using a credit card, you pay right on that thing.

It calculates a top for you, and usually defaults to 20%, but you can change it...

What frosts me, though, is that it calculate tip on taxes too! I always calculate tip on the before sales tax amount. With the sales taxes around here, it can add up to an extra buck on a simple dinner for two!

I wondered about that, and then saw that the Saltgrass manager had asked the Customer not to come back. And that once they shocked Saltgrass into starting to seriously question things, the whole story fell apart rapidly.

1. lib self-soothing that everyone out there, except them, are bad.
2. media pushing narrative

sad muslim stories ignore:

1. people are fed up with immigration, especially muz immigration.
2. mus go boom, people die.
3. people would probably buy newspapers if they ran stories people cared about.

In the latest round of fake news, it occured to me that the media depends on folks who can't read to buy their papers. Like we're not supposed to remember things from day to day, we're not supposed to be able to think for ourselves.

261 the idea that they "work so hard" and deserve extra money is such horse shit. Most roll out of bed at noon and work 5 hours.

I've known a lot of servers (my brother is a restaurant manager and I dated one). They work pretty hard, its not like steelworking or construction but they're on their feet and unless their boss is trying to rip them off its an 8-hour job with no breaks for lunch. Technically they're supposed to get the 2 breaks and a lunch thing but there's no time usually.

They don't deserve "extra" money though. They're just usually paid significantly under the local minimum wage, presuming tips make up the rest. Its the only way restaurants can hope to stay open, because they cannot charge enough for food to pay decent wages.

Youth are not noted for long-term thinking or adequate impulse control. Pre frontal cortex is still developing until age 25.

That's kind of overstated; kids can be trained to think and more importantly can be taught to trust and respect authority until they ARE ready to handle things on their own. They get neither these days.

They participated in a completely false hoax. Boycott these fuckers until they are Made to Care.

I really get upset when Ace recommends these mild namby-pamby reactions.

Boycotting Saltgrass Steak House needs to be the just the first step of a massive campaign:

1. Boycott Saltgrass Steak House.
2. Hound the owner personally until he commits suicide.
3. Demand that the waiter be jailed and astronomically fined for stalking, harassment, slander, terroristic threats, etc.
4. Demand that all corporation sell itself to a coalition of right-wing groups.
5. Initiate a hair-on-fire emergency nationwide pressure campaign on all congressmen to pass a new Hoax Bill which increases the federal penalties for hoax hate crimes to 50 years in the federal penitentiary.
6. Declare July 24 "National Hoax Cynicism Day"
7. Institute "Hoax Awareness" classes in all elementary schools across the nation, as a permanent change in the curriculum.

And I'm juist getting started.

Seriously, this is how the Left rects to EVERYTHING. Unless we do the same, their strategy erodes away little by little, through attrition.

On the very rare occasions I have gotten such bad service from the wait-staff that I don't leave a tip, I always make a point of telling the manager about the bad service.

If I use a credit card, I also write "CASH" in the tip line because I leave cash tips. Had a server help herself to an extra couple bucks one time I left a tip on the CC receipt, so never again. I now keep the receipt until the charge posts on the credit card.

This will never change. The accusation of racism is, and will remain the Social Kiss of Death. These people fear it more than anything else on the planet. They've been conditioned to do so.

It will until somebody decides to confront their accuser directly and say "Prove it." I actually had someone tell me that my opposition to Obama's stance on the oil pipeline was "racist." When I asked him exactly how that was, he couldn't give me an answer. The best part was doing that in front of about 6 other people.

Everybody knows that any charge of racism is bullshit, yet we tolerate being accused of something we never did nor intended. I cannot for the life of me figure out why.

In the past, if I passed a Greenpeace or Planned Parenthood or Democratic Party canvasser on the street and they approached me with the typical, "Excuse me, would you like to help save the planet?" or some such, I'd just say "No thank you" and walk on. He openly calls for whites to be eliminated. He is virulently, bitterly racist and very blatant about it. And he's treated as some sort of respectable public figure.

My only gripe with grocery store baggers is that they tend to put only one or two items in a bag, like Walmart. I have 15 items and 13 bags.

If you overload the cheap piece of crap Chinese bags they tear apart. They do most of the time even with a light load.

There's a weird parallel between this and the OP.

Normal Americans as a general rule, and rightfully so, abhor overt racism (jokes aside). So when we see it, it triggers an immediate reaction.

The restaurant managers saw it, but didn't look deep enough to realize it was a hoax and a lie. So they reacted poorly by banning the customer.

Tim Scott saw it, but didn't look deep enough to realize it was a hoax and a lie. So he reacted poorly by torpedoing the nominee.

What is even more pathetic is watching women pretend to be men at male stripping events. Women think, "Oh, if we are as loud, obnoxious, and horny as men it will be so much fun!" I don't know why they believed the memo that working outside of the home was an invitation to female happiness, but they're being lied to again if they've been told how much fun it is to have some guy bump and grind your face in a "party" atmosphere. The men that do go to strip clubs do it because they believe it is expected, they can get away from non-sexual women, and can smoke cigars and drink among their own kind. And if they do cop a feel, the worst thing that will happen is they'll be kicked out, although some places might provide for an attitude adjustment. But, they won't be taken to court and ruined financially.

501 Here's my steak method that'll be as good as or better than John Howie or whatever fancy pants steak house.

1. Get yourself a sous vide machine. I have an Anova. You can get one for about $100 on sale.
2. Buy your steak from a really high end place online. I use Snake River farms. Inch and a half thick minimum, two inches are preferable
3. Sous vide your steak at 132 for about two hours with some aromatics in the bag (eg rosemary)
4. Get a charcoal chimney going during the cook
5. Put a cast iron grate on top of the chimney
6. Once the steak is done, pat it dry really well with paper towels, then toss it on top of the grate for about 12 seconds per side, remember to get the edges as well
7. Salt and pepper generously
8. Cut your steak ACROSS THE GRAIN. With the grain cuts will be tougher
9. After cutting, give the steak a good minute for that beautiful red interior to bloom

Now eat that amazing steak. I guarantee it'll be one of the best you've ever had.

Zero children "have" to be produced to attain the highest level of heaven.

Jesus and Lucifer are both children of God the Father. When Lucifer fell and became Satan (See Isaiah 14:13-14), his parentage did not change.

558 There's a store here, Natural Grocery, that does not give out bags at all. You either bring one, or they put your stuff in one of the cardboard boxes left over from stocking the shelves.

Yeah the local restaurant supply-type places do that here. I remember in my youth we went to a discount place called Prairie Market where the prices were marked on the shelf, and you used a wax pencil to write the price on the food. You had a flat cart and boxes to put stuff in. Prices were significantly lower there, and they went on the honor system that you wouldn't rip them off with the price.

They shut down though. UPC scanners and big box type stores like Winco basically undercut them.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at July 24, 2018 02:24 PM (39g3+)

559 525 Then I ask them about the magic underwear, and that usually caps it.

The truly tough nuts get to explain to me why Satan is Jesus' brother, even though the New Testament clearly says otherwise. That takes a bit of sophistry on their part, and not many of those boys have worked that out just yet.

Then I invite them to visit my RC Church on Sunday, and send them on their way.

========

Mormons have a saying. "As man is, so God once was. As God is, so man can become".

If Jesus started out as a mere human on some other planet who became Lord of this planet, that means that according to Mormon theology it is to be chalked up to nothing than mere chance that he was Earth's savior rather than one of us being his savior.

If most Christians were told this up front, I don't think they would find this palatable. There are many other problems besides the one you list. Smith's interpretation of Egyptian hieroglyphics before the Rosetta stone was discovered, Jewish Indians, etc.

So the wife gets to keep your planets if you get divorced in the afterlife?

Not always. I was President of my HOA for 5 two-year terms. Was a
jerk only to those not paying for trash collection, electricity, grounds
maintenance, etc. Foreclosed on 2 homes, but we were behind a lot of
other creditors, alas.

Yeah but eventually it always ends up with the petty tyrant in
charge. The biggest jerk in the neighborhood who judges everyone else
for their flowerbed. I mean: who's in charge now? And they never give
up power after that.

I lived in a neighborhood that had a HOA in New England area. I was actually the first President of it. We had a private road that needed to be maintained, plowed, etc. Each house had their own septic tank, but we shared two leach fields. So there was maintenance that had to be planned for there as well, not to mention upkeep and maintenance on the generators that provided backup power to the pump houses.Just about everyone refused the discussion on tucking money away for road repair, or if there was a failure in the shared septic. Forget the idea of "pay as you use" concept. I had a neighbor come to my house, in my absence, and get right into my wife's face about an issue. Couldn't run fast enough from that neighborhood.

I stepped up. In Reston, liberal control-your-life-central in Northern VA. It made for some good stories, and I made good things happen. Learned a lot of interesting stuff too.

The overall community was "planned" up the Wazoo. I worked within the system to give home-owners more design choices. But even I had a 10-2 record. The powers that be would not allow my HOA to let homeowners decide their own front light design. Had to be the "Seagull" pattern. Hello, the 70's called. They want their designs back.

It was one of the places I really, really, learned to hate the Left.

My dad in the 1960s worked for a guy in Farmington, New Mexico, where we lived at the time. The guy was part of a pretty widespread movement in the area that taught that once you were "in the hollow of God's hand" you were saved and nothing you did mattered. He was incredibly corrupt, ripped off customers, etc. Dad protested, had his hours cut, etc.

The guy was ostensibly Christian. There are jerks and lousy people everywhere.

I refuse to live in an HOA neighborhood.

Hell, you haven't seen Nazi until you have seen an overzealous CITY code enforcement Nazi.

Had one that was so bad, the city fired him.
He would park in the alley, climb into the bed of his truck, just to look over 6 and 8 foot wooden privacy fences in order to write people up for code violations.

659 If Jesus started out as a mere human on some other planet who became Lord of this planet, that means that according to Mormon theology it is to be chalked up to nothing than mere chance that he was Earth's savior rather than one of us being his savior.

Eh? I'm not quite sure what you're saying. In Mormon theology God selected Jesus to be our Savior before Lucifer's fall from Heaven. Jesus was also God's firstborn in the pre-Earth life. Jesus was also the only person who was able to live without sinning in any way.

Jesus wasn't some random person who was in the right place at the right time.
