Why didn't they go after some Korean shop owner who was expanding? Because he would have called 50 of his friends and the protesters would have gotten their asses kicked. But, to do it specifically about the Pill seems quite pointed, and frankly it feels like shaming; I am wondering about my sister, who was put on BC at the age of 12, because she was bleeding so much that it was scary. I wonder how she would have felt sitting in church, and hearing that said to her.
I also find myself wondering when his sermon about condoms and viagra is going to be.

But then they went all Brown Shirt and not even cabinet members are safe, let alone Kosher deli owners or numerous other small business targets.
We have no stomach for their kind of street warfare. It may well end with them intimidating our elected and appointed officials so that they end up with a de facto coup.

Pompeo set to give speech on Iran today. Things have been roiling in Iran for over a month, big-time.

I would say lowering of the birth rates is somewhere between a neutral or net positive. We are overpopulated as it is, and I don't know about you, but some people....I don't really want them to breed 4 or 5 kids out....just saying.
On promiscuity....I am not sure where I fall on that. I have nothing to back this up, no research or statistics, just my intuition. I tend to think the women most likely to be promiscuous are the ones hoping the condom doesn't break or taking a morning after pill or having an abortion. The women responsible enough to go to their OB Gyn and get on a pill I would say are more likely to be the ones in a relationship or at least single-partner people. I'm not saying this is ALWAYS the case...I am just saying my gut says women that are irresponsible enough to sleep around probably aren't responsible enough to plan ahead on birth control. And there are sub-themes and rivulets that are also very very bad. Such as the FBI claiming falsely that it didn't know Steele and journos were involved in a circular "confirmation" game as far as "evidence" was concerned.
Only one angle remains, possibly, to render this less explosively scandalous and illegal than it appears: that redacted parts contain reporting from sources other than Steele/recycled/laundered b.s.
Chuck Ross makes a good point on this: if the redacted parts are the meaty really secret stuff, then why does the FBI in a footnote stress (itself idiotic, but that's another story) that Steele's track record of credible reporting is the basis for confidence in what was the "dossier" b.s.?

I'll state up front my wife is Jewish as are our Kids, both of whom are excellent shots and have been going to the range since age 7. In fact I had to pull my 9 year old daughter off the pinking range a few weeks back because she was having such a good time.
But, the problem we have in my neck of the woods is that the reform temples are heavy supporters of gun control and push that actively. In fact my state rep plays up his temple, gun control is his no.1 issue and his Holocaust anniversary speech had a gun control message. Oy Vey. The irony burns. I know 100 times more about the holocaust than these tools.
Highland Park, Deerfield and Northbrook-the three municipalities that are pushing AWBs are also in my slice of the world and are also led, largely, by reform Jews.
For balance, of course, the most extreme "religious" gun control figure in my state is Father Faker. But, I have become involved in trying to get some grass roots opposition going and around here that will likely involve some form of education and confrontation with these folk.
On the plus side there are a bunch of Russian Jews who are huge 2nd Amendment supporters. On the minus side they are not very religious so they don't have an inside track at the temples.
So this is a tough nut to crack. I'm not sure what pressures can be brought to bear or divisions exploited within the religious community. Of course the ILGOP will waste it's time campaigning on how it's candidates are not conservative nut trump supporters and give away so much opportunity to actually campaign against scary progressive policies.

I didn't say that they were necessarily good arguments, just give me the best arguments you can.
For $15/hr, I'd say that it would potentially accelerate the velocity of money in the economy, and help induce employers to develop their employees, because they'd be costing more, so it would be incumbent on them to derive more value from their labor.

I think that's true to some extent. If you could cross-train all those individuals so that they could effortlessly step into each others jobs, you might conceivably get it to work. But people who end up working for low wages aren't notorious for quickly understanding any position other then their own. Or being eager to engage their brains in such an endeavor.

In my career trajectory I started as a paperboy. Don't remember what the pay was back then. Next job was a warming house attendant at a lake ice rink. Next I was a gas jockey. No real skill involved in any of those jobs beyond showing up everyday on time. once I had that on my resume I started to get jobs that paid more. Then I went to school to get a better long term job.And then I said YES at that job every time the were wanted to pay me to learn something new. I'm not a rich guy today but am proud of my accomplishments an above the mean.

I wouldn't recommend it either (that's also just me) but were I a pastor writing a homily on the topic I would encourage people to take a second look at Humanae Vitae and realize that there was WAY more to it that just "yep, birth control is still a sin." There were some, I would say prophetic, passages about what happens when 1) widespread contraception fosters a culture where casual sex is seen as an inalienable right, and 2) governments get too intrusive about telling families how many kids they should have. (Whether it's China limiting couples to only one or Ceaucescu's Romania insisting that they have at least five.)
