3 Good Morning Morons today is Saturday, July 21, 2018. On this day in 1925 in the infamous Scopes Trial in Dayton, Tennessee, high school biology teacher John T. Scopes was found guilty of teaching evolution in class and fined $100. The whole thing was a publicity stunt and it worked quite well thanks to the rabid MFM of the time who were sucked right in and still believe it to this day.

The story got a lot of air time on local radio yesterday because of similar duck boat story in Philly. Some 'expert' said wearing life jackets when the canopy is on turns them into death traps. The life jacket holds you up, while the canopy holds you down. No way to escape when it sinks.

I think the duck boats got taken off the Delaware River when the insurance became too expensive for them to be profitable. This last event should kill them off.

They're calm water only craft. Their heavy mass does not bob up and down when waves get rough. Very little natural buoyancy.

The size of the parade doesn't matter. Boston has a Pride Parade every year in June. But that's not enough; it never is. This is just another shot in the ongoing war on Christianity and Western Civilization.

Veteran's Day parades are usually small too. Think they won't try to disrupt those too. (Hint: they already have.)

Posted by: IrishEi at July 21, 2018 06:44 AM (Ri0Ku)

55
I think the final award for the duck boat sinking in the Delaware was something like two and a half million dollars per victim. After this latest event no insurance company is going to write a policy on these things. If they do, it'll be so expensive the boat operators won't be able to charge enough to cover that cost.

Problem will fix itself without Congressional hearings and grandstanding politicians.

We need a system like Poland's. Mandatory retirement at 70. They just lowered it to 65, forcing out a whole slew of judges, many of whom were appointed under communism. The butthurt is glorious to behold.

A buddy of mine got a gig at the Census Bureau in the early 80s. He did a slow but steady climb up the ranks until the mid 90s. Yeah, white dude.

Then he stalled, and realized he had likely gone as far as he could. He went one more rung up the ladder before retiring in 2002. He was the most miserable guy I have ever seen, right up until he retired. He then became the happiest guy I knew, as he went to work for some polling firm for some decent coin.

I don't think I could have done the 15 miserable years that he did.

105 The fundamental problem is that the U.S. Senate couldn't possibly replace the federal judges that were forced to retire at age 65 (or 70) That there is a lack of foresight on the part of the Founders. They never envisioned a federal judiciary to be so BIG.

My Mom worked for the Federal Government (at NOB Norfolk), and the stories she told about how workers of a certain hue could get away with murder because they could not be fired. Also, the bosses dumped work on people like my Mom because they knew she'd actually do the job that the boss needed done.

I can understand why your buddy was miserable, CM. My Mom was, too. I'll never forget when she put in her retirement papers when she hit 20 years on the job. She handed them in on a Friday morning (she worked the night shift and she had over a month accrued vacation) then told fellow co-workers good-bye. They all said things like, 'See you on Monday'. My Mom corrected them and said, 'No, I mean good-bye' and walked out. She wanted to leave without all the going away bullshit -- and she did.

I have no idea where that whiffle headed goof plans on dropping his carpetbags but people in Ohio can't stand him. He barely beat Twitch Strickland after four years of that fuckhead getting literally nothing right in office. Four years later he handily beat Ed Fitzgerald, one of the worst candidates I've ever seen who even the donks hated. His dogshit Medicaid expansion was opposed by the state GOP knowing full fucking well he was lying out his ass with his goofball "this is just a return of the money we send to Washington" crock. Then when he ran that pathetic campaign for President and was always interviewed cramming food in his big mouth like an inbred slob, Trump had a field day mocking that idiot. He responded by petulently not attending the convention in Cleveland like a spoiled ugly infant at which his noxious presence wasn't missed one fucking bit.

Maybe he'll end up on the Morning Homewreckers although that might be an unwelcome reminder of how he, the intern killer and Gary Condit used to go whoring around together until Chandra Levy turned up dead and the Mailman's Son started spouting pearly gates nonsense to cleanse his excuse for a conscience. Fuck him forever. For someone who loved to spout "that's how we do it in Ohio" it's time to throw out the trash.

Arrgh. I have been involved in numerous "bumps" in my driving career. Some of them were my fault and most of them were other people's fault.

Nobody called the police as soon as the cars came to rest.

These snowflakes will be the death of us all.

My favorite incident happened when I was pulling out of a parking lot and turning right onto the main road.

The light changed, and I started pulling out.

I suddenly saw a pickup truck blatantly running the red light.

I slammed on my brakes and a woman behind me rear-ended me. It was in a parking lot, so there was no damage.

She got out and was all apologetic. I said, "No, no, no, it wasn't your fault. Did you SEE that?!"

She hadn't seen it.

I could have gunned it and pulled out ahead of the pickup truck, but if she had followed right behind me, she would have been T-boned for sure, and possibly killed.

I think the Ph of rainwater is more to the acidic side, while your average municipal water is more to the basic side.

So I would surmise the rain water did a better job of washing out former shampoos and conditioners.
