In that article, Walton-Fisette highlights the emerging field of social justice gym pedagogy, and calls upon gym teachers to impart social justice issues into gym lessons, such as sexism, body image, religion, socioeconomic status and motor elitism.LOL.

"If we are not including social justice education in our teacher education programs, then we are potentially perpetuating the problem," Walton-Fisette told PJ Media, explaining that she talks to students about power and privilege in nearly every class. ... For many gym teachers, separating students by sex is de rigueur. But, Walton-Fisette tells PJ Media that dividing students by sex can highlight the humiliation that some transgender and genderqueer students feel. "To divide students based on gender is not acceptable, nor do we want to make students be put into 2 binary boxes. There are children who do not identify as male or female, whether they are exploring their gender expression, are transgender, or genderqueer." Team sports, such as lacrosse and badminton, are discouraged too, as they encourage competitiveness and are often "white-oriented" or otherwise racially stereotyped. By spending less time on team sports, more time can be spent on other activities, such as yoga, dance, hiking, biking, swimming, and rope-climbing, Walton-Fisette says.

As I watch and learn, I realize it won't result in that at all. It will result in forcing athletics into rules that allow inferior atheletes to compete as if they were as competent as superior atheletes.
You won't see Susie getting her shot rejected in the basketball game by Jamaal, you'll see Jamaal being given a penalty for blocking shots so that Susie has a chance to compete.
Essentially male atheletes will have to compete like grown ups do with their small children, letting them have moments of success by suspending their own abilities.

Badminton is totally Asian dominated. My high-school badminton team was 98% Asian, with just one white girl on it. Same was true of most of the other schools in the league. And in pro competition, the top nations are China, Thailand, Indonesia, Taiwan, etc.

There is no compelling evidence, or evidence at all put forward that Russia did anything to materially effect the election.

Broadly speaking, our LE, IC and political bodies have coalesced and taken as gospel that Russia materially interfered in our election and this interference aided the current President.
The current President has pretty much with this press conference rejected the assessments of his LE and IC apparatus and taken the word of a foreign leader.
Now I agree with Trumps assessment and the LE and IC have been corrupted and weaponized.

Every player would be rated on some sort of metric and weights would be required for arms, legs and back to control for differing levels of ability. Faster runners would find their weight-socks retard their natural advantages, just as good tennis players would find their arm-weights make it harder to hit the ball with a lot of pace or precise placement.

I agree but you can see that this is a huge problem that we cannot trust our LE or IC apparatuses.
They have been corrupted and weaponized.
And seeing as both political parties broadly agree with and support not only the IC and LEC assessments and understanding but also support the ongoing witch hunt of Russia collusion against the sitting President there will be no legislation coming from congress to correct this.
The President is severely limited in what he can do in this area as he can fire everyone but there is simply no one at either the DOJ or FBI that will aid the President in a mission to clean up either agency.
So we are left with a very serious situation that will not be resolved in either the short or long term.
It's very dangerous.

Yeah they look like they'd be awful to face, because of that odd delivery, but the truth is, batters aren't really even paying that much attention to the delivery after a few pitches, they're just picking up the ball when it leaves the pitcher's hand and working out the trajectory in their heads so fast they aren't even aware of it.
A few batters in, those guys get tattooed, its odd that the MLB keeps giving them a chance.

People don't believe that happens. I remember when the Australia team got crushed by a boys U-15 team NOBODY believed the sports reporter that wrote the story. They called it Fake and then they had to show yes he was at the game and the Coach even commented on it. They play games like this because they need to play good teams in order to be ready for the World Cup.

I have to respectfully disagree. There's a point to physical education, viz., learning to play and love various sports. Over the years, I've played everything, and it was largely because I'd learned everything from tennis to soccer to handball to tumbling to wrestling to track and field etc. etc. in school.
The only sports I learned on my own were baseball, football, basketball, and swimming.
In this era of an obesity epidemic, I think it is important to introduce kids to sports in school, and to require them to participate.

I'd give men a slight edge in calculating wind and so on in their heads, but not always. But are shooting competitions even sex segregated? I mean a woman could theoretically be the world's best sniper (they were amazing in Russia for instance) but its always guys.

Do I need to point out that girls softball is played on a Little League (60 foot baseline) field? The distance between pitchers mound and homeplate is 45 ft. Big boys play on 90 foot baselines and 60 foot mound to homeplate. They also pitch over the shoulder - cuz they have shoulders. Not like Obama.

Yeah outfielders can get into the 100's throwing a ball in because they run a few steps and get that behind their throw. Throwing from a standing position is a whole 'nother ball game, as it were.
But seriously, knuckleballs float in there at around 60 mph, and a woman could pull that off. Pitching is about way, way more than velocity. If you just pile fastballs in over the plate over and over, you'll get killed in the MLB. You have to vary where, how fast, mix in other pitches, etc. Even guys like Nolan Ryan had other pitches.

I have to respectfully disagree. There's a point to physical education, viz., learning to play and love various sports. Over the years, I've played everything, and it was largely because I'd learned everything from tennis to soccer to handball to tumbling to wrestling to track and field etc. etc. in school.
The only sports I learned on my own were baseball, football, basketball, and swimming.
In this era of an obesity epidemic, I think it is important to introduce kids to sports in school, and to require them to participate.

The entire concept of public schooling ORIGINATED with "physical education" being not just part of but EQUAL TO mental education. Remember that the very first public high schools were called "Gymnasiums" (back in 19th-century Germany, where the concept of "high school" was invented). I mean, the whole school was called the "gymnasium." The principle was "Mens Sana in Copore Sano" -- healthy mind in a healthy body.
Truth is, these days, 90% of kids would get next to NO exercise daily were they not forced to in gym class.

My criterion: do you have to train hard to be competitve? (Train, physically, as opposed to practicing the skill.) Otherwise, you could consider video gaming to be a sport too.

No one likes losing all the time, and this will ensure that women lose all the time in sports.
Even if they try to weasel out of it by eliminating team sports, they'll still lose in individual sports as well, generally speaking. So they will either just sex-segregate it based on results anyway, or women will stop competing.

Well I would have agreed with you until I went to a shooting course and shot like a hundred rounds out of 12 gauge trying to hit sporting clays flung from various angles, bouncing along the ground etc etc. Hoisting that gun over the course of a couple of hours is tiring, and the changing course of the clays is also taxing.
When I was just shooting a pistol at a piece of paper, I would have agreed with you.

Yeah its less punishing than a fastball or changeup, but its still not easy. I've thrown a few and its brutal on the arm and fingers. Such a weird motion and grip it would take a while ot get used to. And I just cannot see a woman being able to do it for long, just an inning, maybe two.

I organize a practice Fridays with BP thrown by a former scout for the Rangers. MANY is the time we are ever so grateful for that L-screen. Typically about once per hitter. Because at the short BP distance, if someone squares up the ball back up the middle, you have NO chance of protecting yourself. It's bad enough from 60 feet. I've come close - VERY close - to getting smoked in the face a number of times when I played seriously.

I agree, women are just better at things that require you to be more beautiful, fluid, graceful, balanced, and artistic. Women are just innately better at that kind of thing and your bodies more naturally built to display it. In fairness to the batters, however, the speed at which the ball comes in has to be adjusted for the short distance between the rubber and the plate ---45 ft vs 60 in baseball. So 65 is more like 90.

When I was at the end of my service in the Navy I still had to do PT tests. At 40 years of age, I had to run the mile and a half faster than a 20 years of age female to get a passing grade and do more push ups and situps to pass than the youngest woman at my Command.

It's been said that scouts/coaches love seeing players who do the same things as other players, when they're looking to sign guys to pro contracts. So the knuckleballers were always sorta biased against.
However... given that teams and player development personnel are all about results, if you DID have some chick out there who could hurl a knuckleball as well as the guys, she'd be signed up.
As far as I know, there's no prohibition on female players in pro ball.
The fact that there aren't any is pretty much all the proof necessary, at this point, to demonstrate that they can't do the job.

That actually doesn't say much about Rousey being the best though in my opinion. All the top fighters are the best, until they're not. She probably was at one time the best female MMA fighter out there. Just like Anderson Silva was probably the best male MMA fighter out there at one time.

This could start a whole thing, but there is some truth to what you say. A lot of people in golf argue the men vs women thing. The newbies, and even some old timers, think that the only difference between the PGA Tour and the LPGA Tour is the distance the men hit the ball. This has been proven to be false by empirical evidence.
I think it comes back to human nature. If someone is strong, they are assumed to be less smart. If they can hit the ball a long way, their touch around the greens won't be as good. If someone can't hit the ball a long way, they are probably better at chipping, putting etc. But there is something these often well-intentioned people miss. The reason men excel at sports that don't have an obvious physical strength aspect is that so many more men compete in these sports.
For example, why would men be better at putting and chipping in golf, and not just hitting the long ball? The reason is that ten times as many men compete to get to the PGA Tour. The best of the best are defeating others who are very close in skill but lacking in a small way. If 5,000 men are trying to become the best putters in the world, and 1,000 women are doing likewise, the top ten of each is likely going to favor the men. The intense competition will sort that out.
I can't think of a biological reason why women golfers are not as good as male golfers at the highest level at the short game. It is certainly possible for a woman player to be the best in the world. But history has no evidence of this ever happening to date. It could change one day no doubt.
This is likely the same for darts and the other games you mentioned. BTW, female pro golfers can still wax 99.9 percent of men who play the game.

When I was in college I was holding a guy on at first base when a LH hitter was batting. I jumped off the bag and into a fielding position with the pitch. There was a loud Crack! and the right fielder was throwing ball back in.
I looked down and about three feet to my right there was a puff of dust. I literally did not even see the ball go by. And I was very grateful he hadn't hit it right at me.
It was the hardest hit ball I've ever seen in my life.

But if Physical Education is THAT important ... then the High School Model around here fucks that up as well.
You've got one semester of PE - followed by Try Out To Make the Team sports the rest of the way. And you've got the same roughly 200 kids playing all the sports ... out of a school of over 1500.
If PE is truly that important ... and mind you, I'm not dismissing your claim that is is ... dedicating the amount of resources needed for Football Fields, Coaching, Basketball Arenas, etc... for that small a sample doesn't make a lick of sense.
Mandatory school-sponsored club-level athletic endeavors for all four years would make more sense. And less money into things like Football and more into other activities that the general population can participate in for far less cost per student.

Maybe not biological but psychological. Men are by nature created to be more aggressive, competitive, and ambitious. Men will keep driving to win even when its stupid or self destructive. That killer instinct goes a long way toward explaining how men can win where women don't do as well, even if you can't figure out a biological reason. Human beings aren't just meat machines.

There's a real trend now toward sports only for the talented. As a kid everybody used to play everything, no matter how dire they actually were.
Now the top 2% athletically play on organized travel teams, etc. while the other 98% either watch or play video games.

This helped us select specialization as we got older based on our abilities and what we enjoyed. Or none, if you so chose at most public schools.
Girls and guys gym class was separate. One girl was faster than anyone and became an immensely respected regional caliber sprinter with college scholarship offers.
I'm sure along the way there were some hurt feelings and issues but dammit, it worked fine.
I remember learning very quickly that a much smaller guy (a friend) who knew wrestling could hammer a much bigger guy (me) into the ground. I was really glad to learn the holds and increase my competence.
Just don't get the wailing.

I am certainly not saying a top LPGA tour player could not win a putting contest against PGA Tour players on a given day, they certainly could. Of course at that point you are not really playing golf but doing a skills challenge. There are so many factors when comparing putting statistics. From my understanding the men are generally better over all for the reasons I stated above. It comes down to so many more men involved in the sport, hence the best of the best, are just a bit better. This is history though, nothing says it always has to be this way.

The longer the club you need to reach the green, the lower the trajectory. A four iron from 180 yards is going to come into a green at a lower trajectory and with less spin than a 7 iron. The result will be you will have more trouble stopping the ball where you want, which is next to the pin. This is the advantage of length and spin from tee to green, it never goes away.
Also, PGA Tour players can play on the Senior Tour (Champions Tour) starting at 50. Many top players have careers that last decades. I think the average NFL career is a bit under 5 years for comparison.

That makes sense. I've thought about MLB. It looks like fun, but it's a grind, per the ex-MLB players we've had in our league. They essentially work seven days a week from March to October: five days of playing, and oftentimes two of traveling, sometimes having to fly out at 4 am to the next stop and to play again that night.
I can see where that could get old, fast.

Around here ... it's all slotted from an early age.
You've got to get on a travel team in Elementary School to have a chance to make one of the HS teams ... or Middle School teams in basketball or baseball. Football still has enough jerseys to go around at the smaller schools - but at the bigger schools, there's enough warm bodies where the coaches can be choosy.
I stand by my numbers ... I live in a nice area in Southern Indiana. 1600 kids in a very over-funded public high school. The same 200 kids play ever sport ... on multi-million dollar fields.
If Physical Education is that important - why do we only provide it to the top 1/8th for all four years ?

Over drinks (in Vino Veritas) she was saying she really does not understand why some people are successful, and some not. Her research kept giving her contradictory answers.
I told her one major indicator of being truly good at something, is that you have to concentrate all your focus on that one thing... that you have to let other considerations go...
Whether a sport, or a business, to get to the very top you must dedicate yourself to it, and understand that the rest of your life will take second place.
You can't have it all.
She REALLY did not like that observation, yet could not contradict it.

The author had been a pretty fair country baseball player but said just standing in the box for a number of pitches cured him forever of the notion, that maybe if things had gone right, he might have been on the field instead of writing the stories.
He said he could not really even taken a competent swing at one of the pitches, let alone had a prayer of hitting one. He'd never faced curves that started heading right for his skull, made hissing noises as they broke, and dived over the outside corner. Nope.

I'm guessing because they physically can't hit 5,000 practice balls on the range every week getting themselves ready.

Different seasons, and, of course, different weather. We can play all year round here in SoCal, so HS teams play in their season, but play travel ball the rest of the year.

Yeah people have no idea how much these guys walk in all conditions. I am not trying to overstate it, this is not the Iron Man competition but these guys walk at least 5 miles a day, pretty much every day, not just four. They beat balls before and AFTER the round (something few ams ever do). And they travel all the time. And half of them make zippy every tournament, though they spend a ton on flights, hotels, caddies, etc.

You kinda get used to it. Paradoxically, it's hairier to face guys who aren't that good at throwing a curve. Yeah, they'll throw at your head, hoping to make the ball break down and over the plate.
And about half the time, it does. The other half, you have to hit the dirt at the last second when you realize that this sucker is not going to break after all.

Let me expand on that. The first day of spring training can be nerve-wracking, as the ball seems to move so fast, both at the plate and in the field. But after a few days, you get your eye back in, and get used to it, and don't think about it much any more.
But if you get up out of your chair, take off your jacket, and step into the box for the first time in decades, facing someone who is dialed in, yeah, that's pretty scary.

His speed and instincts were insane. With his gloves at his side and in a corner, he was slipping punches from a very fast middleweight who was doubling up on punches and going hard. It seemed as if he anticipated a punch before the guy threw it. In three minutes not one solid punch was landed on him and he never raised his hands above his stomach.
It was a whole other world far beyond most mortals'

It was never pleasant facing the guys who were fast but a bit wild. The better pitchers were difficult to hit, but you could at least watch for their patterns, get a bit settled when you went up to bat and try to figure it out. Most folks, me included for sure, eventually get to a point where they realize they aren't going to figure it out and become Peter Principal victims.

Probably willowed, but one time in college the opposing starting pitcher (home team) was throwing his warmup pitches, and they were serious gas from a low sidearm slot. Our guys who batted from his arm side were all reassuring each other that his control was probably pretty good, so it was gonna be OK.
With his final warm up pitch the guy hit the screen on the fly.
Dead silence ensued in our dugout.
(In fairness, he probably did that on purpose, but I noticed nobody dug in on him.)

into a green at a lower trajectory and with less spin than a 7 iron. The
result will be you will have more trouble stopping the ball where you
want, which is next to the pin. This is the advantage of length and spin
from tee to green, it never goes away.

And just to put a bow on this. It is not just the spin and trajectory on the approach to the green that is an advantage. It is also that it is simply easier to hit a 7 iron well than a 4 iron, because of spin, trajectory, and swing speed. The flatter faced club is simply harder to hit accurately.
Also, the longer player for example will be hitting his second shot from 160 and will use a pitching wedge these days. The shorter player will be hitting his second shot from 190 and using a 4 iron. Even if the longer player walked his ball back to 190 he would still be using less club, say a 6 iron. But he is already ahead because of the longer drive and will be using even less club, with an even easier shot. The short hitter will always be under more pressure.
Back in the day, most short hitters were generally more accurate, that is how they survived on Tour. But these days, the best players are long AND accurate. Technology plays a role for sure, as well as conditioning etc. In the end, you have to be long and accurate to make it these days. Kind of like how most NFL players have to be big AND fast, can't just pick one anymore.
