Ahoy From Bill Kristol, Captain of the Cruise of the Concerned

Cap'n Bill is really fighting to "save" the GOP, but he might just have to sacrifice the House to do so:

All hail the Deep State:

Also, Cap'n Bill thinks that anyone bringing up the involvement of Hillary's private prosecutorial service Perkins Coie in the Jim Jordan investigation/smear must be a con man or something.

How are the TruCons gaseous releases any different than those from their overt, admitted Democrat-partisan allies?

143 The American voter does not mind being hoodwinked or lied to by the government. We instinctively know that's just part of the process. Sausage being made. Etc.

What the American voter will not tolerate is incompetence at lying. If you're going to pull the wool over my eyes, you better at least look like you know what you're doing while you're doing it. At least make a freakin' effort, you know?

In other words, Corruption is acceptable if there's enough Kabuki to cover it up.

I think ultimately, even though it's just a bunch of hot air a gurning for the cameras, this hearing may end up doing us quite a bit of good. We don't need to "nail him" on anything, we just need to foster the public myth (call it "Received Wisdom" if you like, the "everybody knows..." phenomenon) that Strzok and the Deep State he represents are simply not good at Kabuki, and the Corruption isn't worth the candle to the average schmuck at large.

Politics is downstream of Culture. And the Public Myth is an integral part of Culture.

He hasn't. He's told them to assist in document production, something that the DOJ routinely does for SCJs nominees. 185 One thing about the Peter Strzoker clips I've seen is that Official Federal Smirk they all wear. Rosenschmuck had it; I first really noticed it in the IRS hearings. Now, I can understand how they get it - unless it's just issued with their employee IDs - in that they think they are part of The Power, and therefore immune to any and all consequences.

But what I don't get is how their lawyers don't get them to wipe that look off their faces, they way our parents did to us when we were teens. Any minimally competent lawyer MUST know that, if they act like that in front of a jury, they'll convince all of them that they are assholes. They have it because they know that we know that they know we know they're going to walk away, scot free with a rap on the knuckles from noting more than a feather.

304 This hearing is the worst possible outcome...

We like to argue politics and understand how things work in this world. It frustrates us that people like Strzok aren't immediately fired then thrown in jail for their crimes. We complain and move on.

However, when things hit the point that these hearings are at, it triggers a subset of people who aren't on the same emotional level as we are. They see the unrepentant smugness, the total disregard for the laws of the country and the hatred for the half of the country that voted for Trump. They feel they have to do something to make things right.

I would be surprised if today's hearing doesn't lead to some unfortunate outcome.

343 >>I'm convinced they are daring Trump to fire them. Mueller too. They can't get Trump with a manufactured collusion with Russia, so they probably want to turn the ball over to congress and try to get him on obstruction.

I suppose it's possible. But why would the very first national politician who endorsed Trump, who worked on his campaign as a surrogate when everyone else in DC was running away from Trump, who chaired Trump's foreign policy team which got him also accused of Russian collusion and who finally got his dream job near the end of his career suddenly turn on Trump for no reason at all?

The other option is Trump knows exactly what's going on and is helping slowly expose all of this to the American people because he knows he not only isn't in any legal jeopardy he never has been and this is far too big to dump on the American public all at once and watch it be washed away in a news cycle or two.

I've seen no evidence whatsoever that Trump is clueless or afraid to fire people when he thinks it is required. There has to be some reason he hasn't forced the DOJ to turn over documents Congress wants and hasn't done anything to Sessions or Rosenstein. He's also a pretty good showman and loves conducting a show on a big stage.

That's the plan the dems have to take the House in the mid terms. The only way the House flips is if Trump fires mueller or rosenstein, or pardons Flynn or manafort. The Senate is lost to the dems for the next 6-8 years at least.

414 Me: Mr Strzok, I'm not asking for you to disclose anything, but do you know of prosecutable evidence that links Mr. Trump to Russian intelligence?

Strzok: {Probably a disclaimer here.}

Me: You keep saying that there is no evidence that you conducted your investigation with bias--which is what we all have on Mr. Trump colluding with the Russians--and yet you consider your suspicion of Mr. Trump--even to the point of one-sided invective--"patriotic". And yet, with the same amount of evidence as you have gathered on Mr. Trump in a year, you're patting yourself on the back for your "judgment". So, how is it that you don't warrant suspicion? You're suggesting that sound principle from us is to accept at face value that there is no *invincible* proof that you succumbed to bias--but yo had no *invincible* proof that Trump had been compromised by the Russians, either. And yet you pride yourself on your conviction that evidence or not, Trump was a threat--so much so that you projected it onto your fellow Americans--and misjudge that *everybody* would team up to stop Mr. Trump.

Do you pride yourself on your assessment capabilities--I mean, a lot of us missed that Mr. Trump would actually be elected President--but that's not a feather in anybody's cap as an analyst--anybody who missed it has to fess up that their analysis has some gaps. So anybody who seems to have missed it as much as you appear to--to project your own subjective opinions--onto a wide cross-section of people so that you could answer whether Trump would "never" be president with the subjective emotional certainty of a teenager that "No, we (the American People) will stop it".

But let's look at the unproven scenario of our colleagues on the opposite side of the aisle. That the reason nobody anticipated Trump's victory is that he had help from Russia. And I can see a case for "patriotism" if that were the case.

But with the same subjective, boisterous analysis that you determined that the American people would stop him, you also show little suspicion that the Russians would prevail. So when you text that, you really didn't suspect the Russians as the catalyst--and so the same level of "patriotism" can't really be attributed to your assessment at that time. So you were really "patriotic" because you really, really suspected Mr. Trump of doing something with the Russians.

So what does it mean to have "no evidence"? You were in the same situation--and yet you pride yourself for your "patriotism" for disliking a candidate so much that you really, really suspected him of doing ... *something*... dirty. You didn't know.

This also, doesn't show a whole lot of analysis--to text that over a work phone to your alleged paramour. Really, there is not a whole lot *professional* in you, is there?

You don't show much judgment or analysis or restraint, and your professionalism is quite questionable. How do you expect us to know that you could conduct yourself with the utmost professionalism--when the clues--not proof--but clues are right there before us?

416 It's ridiculous that a member of the House could accuse Gohmert of "needing to take his medicine"--when they were just minutes before berating Gohmert for points of order that DID NOT APPLY to Strzok as a non-member.

It suggests that wild accusations against fellow members are out of bounds--and yet the people alleging it for a witness--*broke* the rules against a member--who is *actually* protected by the rule!

417 In all seriousness, if you recall, PDT held May's hand at the White House on some stairs. People tried to make it out to be weird; May said he was being a gentleman.
Posted by: Bear with Assymetrical Balls at July 12, 2018 03:58 PM (1pZw2)

You know, this is just more of the metoo asshattery. How dare Trump make May look like she needed help. How dare he "touch"her hand without her permission.

So if she fell ass over tin cups, as my dear departed father used to say, Trump would be howled at for not helping her.

None of the media has any thought of what good manners are anymore. They all act like they were raised by wolves, so it stands to reason.

419 How Stormy got off: The Ohio law agin' touchin' in the strip clubs defines the ones who are not to touch or be touched as those "who regularly appears". So Stormy does "regularly appear", so the DA dropped the charges.

The number of people charged under this law since it went on the books? 0.

They arrested to other women, one a stripper and the other a patron. I wonder if they're gonna let them off.

Probably will let them off. Might also depend on if that club actually has something to go after in the case of prostitution/drugs, which of course it does, maybe not the club itself but definitely some dancers. Wouldn't that just suck for the cops if they were doing an undercover investigation on that and decided to blow the case up completely because some drunk asshole touched her boob.
Posted by: buzzion at July 12, 2018 04:05 PM (lKs2v)

This needs to be clarified, as publius post is , um, incorrect.

The Franklin county prosecutor said this afternoon that the law specifies that it applies only to dancers who are regulars at these clubs, which Daniels is not.
And according to their office this year alone there have been 25 citations for breaking this law, which is up from 17 in the year 2017.

From what I understand, almost all of these "clubs" have vice and undercover sting operations going on in them , as they are great places for sex trafficking, prostitution, money laundering, etc.

And in Columbus, they have been the location of several shootings, stabbings, etc. in the parking lots.

See the video. Theresa May is wearing a red dress with a long slit, and shows some leg.

I threw up a little in my mouth.

You must spend most of your time throwing up in your mouth .... if you go out into the real world. that is.

Do you think May is a porn actress trying to turn you on?The split in the dress is to facilitate walking, especially walking up steps. You need this with a long gown that does not have a full skirt.

I think she is extremely well dressed and looks great. The dress is a very flattering color and has simple lines that keep the look sleek without it being form-fitting, which is a no-no for women of her age.

Sheesh.

he can not somehow fumigate the anti-American criminal organizations
