If Democrats are not weaned from their tyrannical impulse to rig elections with the CIA and FBI, then we are into "All enemies, both foreign and domestic"-territory.

Justice must be done, and be seen to be done. Actual justice, not this Rosenstein farce.

I've testified at the PUCO for the third rate electric utility where I wasted 19.5 years of my work life and it's hard to get lower than some of the ambulance chasers from the bottom third of the dogshit graduating classes they attract who questioned me, including from the trash organization Richard Cordray oversaw. I was unemployed about 4 years ago after a period of poor health.

Finally applied for a job with the state (Tennessee, Nashville area).

They are much more accommodating for those with ADA needs as well as those of us who are "older".

Tennessee's jobs are mostly in Nashville, but there are positions all over the state in the different regions. Georgia and other states may be the same.

Secondly, what would he do, temporarily suspend the elections? Not that I wouldn't have put it past him, but I don't think he has the juevos to make an overt attempt to overthrow the US. No, he'd attempt to lead that effort from the back.

85 rhennigantx, in re: Wifi channels question on the previous thread, I don't know how accurate the channel grapher things are. The (very) few times I've compared the chart to a real spectrum analyzer, there are non-wifi signals in the band that won't show up as channelized noise but will shove routers away from that channel, and the signal strength reported by the routers' graphs aren't very accurate.

You can get a $25 USB SDR and use it as a signal analyzer from about 500KHz to 1.75GHz and it's pretty easy to mod it up to 4.5GHz (so you can see 2.4GHz signals), but that's still outside the 5GHz range and I never cared enough to extend the coverage that far since there aren't enough people around here to saturate the band anyway.

Local story here so I heard more details. She was in pretty bad shape already, just returned from hospice. The possibility exists she was just plain done with life.

Suicide by utility. Maybe.

My utility sends out questionnaires every year or so asking about health issues, health equipment, etc. I suppose those folks get priority in outages. I've been tempted to 'accidentally' check the wrong box.

Especially after going without power for 68 hours in the dead of this past winter.

Yeah, I have found usajobs.com to be kinda sucky. I went directly to Tennessee's employment website to search jobs. They post weekly every Wednesday and the application period runs until midnight the following Tuesday.

Right now for this week they have 15 jobs under "IT and Computers".

Go to tn.gov and follow the links for employment if you are curious.

Re: Sessions, I'm still sort of in the camp that believes there's something up that we're all not privy to. There's no way the man is that incompetent and Trump just lets him skate with it. Either there's some grand scheme in the works, or some sticking point like blackmail or some weird bullshit going on. Also, you will find that state and local governments are super sensitive about the "appearance" of discrimination which will work to your advantage greatly.

I was exactly your age (29+) when looking for a job. Actually had one interviewer tell me "you can't teach an old dog new tricks." Yep. Another time, I overheard a young receptionist announce my presence to the interviewer with, "And you won't believe how old she is." Needless to say, the manager was in her 20s also.

So, I'm going to have to go smaller, which is not a problem. I can work back up to a big job.

There are now entire towns in North Jersey where the state and/or local gov gave the company a tax break and when it expired they left. Some of those local governments/developers are now tearing down those buildings and converting them to condos, etc. what the state is doing is not sustainable and most companies have figured that out. They are now in places like FL and NC.

1. We don't really know what he did, by the article, other than using his phone to take pics/video of the girls, who were in some state of undress. I think the article is intentionally unclear on what exactly it was he did to the girls.

3. There's a psychologist saying "there's no prospect he'll do this again." Wow. That's a bold statement. I wouldn't make such a statement about ANYBODY, let alone someone who has already perpetrated. I'd sure like to know what this psychologist thinks he/she knows that allows for such confidence.

And 4. This might have been justice. Given the shitty way the article reads (I know! Imagine that, journalists writing crap that distorts everything!!), the sentence might have been appropriate. We don't know, and I sure as heck wouldn't want to base my opinion about the quality of European justice, on this article or this case.

I don't want to get rid of tax breaks, I want to universalize them. Think of the logic behind what they're doing: "Hey, we promise not to take as much of your money if you move your company here".

I suppose that's actually the point i'm trying to make, but i'm only on my third cup of coffee so i'm not quite coherent yet....

The idea is that if it works for one company, and is profitable to the state in terms of increased tax revenues over time, then why call it a "Tax Break" and do it for only one special case?

Why not just make that your tax policy writ large?

That being established, either:

1) lower taxes are demonstrably desirable, or
2) they're pulling your leg about it being profitable to the state, and it's actually only profitable to a certain group of connected people.

Yes, given that the "assault by penetration" line appears only in the caption, I wouldn't at all be surprised if there's some vague, umbrella charge out there, one that attaches to a sexual assault type crime, that has a laundry list of offenses that CAN be part of this particular statute.

So... we really don't know what he did to the girls, we really don't know how old they were, and we really don't even know the circumstances around which he encountered them.

Were they walking down the street, minding their own business? Were they in a changing room at some store? Were they prostituting themselves? Did it start out consensual, and when he started "acting creepy," did these two girls decide to cry assault after the fact?

We have no idea.

An argument posted above, with which I happen to agree, is that these tax breaks for the company come at the expense of their employees (I will never call them workers), who have either been transferred into or hired from a higher income/sales/property tax environment.

Now, if you want to also talk about giving the employees of these companies a tax break as a part of the deal as well, I'm all the way onboard.
