The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"Every time the progs lose at something, they start bellyaching about how it needs to be 'fixed'. By 'fixed', I believe they mean, 'rigged in our favor so our side wins all the time.' So recently progs are wondering why there are 9 SCOTUS judges and not some larger number. Some of them are even advocating that the Supreme Court be expanded to, say, 15 judges. Why would they argue this? Do they actually want President Pence to be able to appoint 6 more justices? Of course they don't, their proposals probably include some cockamamie provision wherein these new appointments are made by someone else, i.e. a Democrat. And, as progs watch helplessly as Trump is appointing a continuous stream of conservative justices who are in their early to mid 50s, the progs are also complaining about how unfair it is that judicial appointments are for life, and how the "founding fathers", whom they have never cared one whit about until now, would not have wanted this. Boo f*ing hoo. All of these are basically Calvinball objections made by sore losers to justify their abject electoral failures. Bunch of crybabies. And speaking of crying, whatever happened to those little children whom Trump forcibly separated from their parents at the border and locked into cages? Don't Democrats care about them anymore?"

OK, This Thread Is Funny:

There are some funny (and sad, and infuriating...) stories here. Scott Adams used to do this sort of reader solicitation all the time back on his old blog from the late 90s and some of the stories are beyond belief. There appears to be no limit to human stupidity.

Elections have consequences.

They are truly befuddled that running around in pussy hats, calling people Nazis, and threatening family members arent winning them elections. Like I told one of my liberal friends, elections have consequences. And not just Presidential ones.

Since 2009, the Democrats have lost over 1000 Congressional seats, Governorships, and State legislature seats. You want to be able to appoint judges?

Win a goddamn election.

Throwing their hissyfits aint gonna win them anything. Your very actions are costing you political clout.

But please..... by all means..... keep running on Illegal immigrants rights, tranny bathrooms, wiping out tax cuts, pushing up the price of energy, and regulating the shit out of anything. And the big fucking stinking pile of shit on top of ALL OF THAT is you threatening violence and intimidation to anybody that has the temerity to disagree with you.

Do you fucktards know what the biggest threat to "Democracy" is??? Not accepting the results of an election when you lose.

87 #26 FDR's attempt to pack the court wasn't lost to history...In the "switch in time to save nine" the justices themselves switched to a pro progressive ruling stance from a pro business stance to preserve the court structure. Congress knew that and wouldn't intervene to fix what was not now broken.

FDR was arguably the worst President ever. The stock market took 26 years to recover from the depression because of his insipid vapid and plain wrong economics. FDR's policies cost us many more causalities than what was reasonably foreseeable in the war. And he sold out Eastern Europe into abject slavery. Today we have an echo of that betrayal in Frau Merkel....and much of our national debt is due to the Cold War spending. Democrat rule always retards American progress...they .should be called ANTI-progressives.

176 "If judges were secret legislators, declaring not what the law is, but what they would like it to be, the very idea of government by the people and for the people would be at risk"

Leftists believe that governments should first and foremost implement leftist principles, whether by mob rule, judicial fiat, oligarchy, or dictatorship. So raising an objection based on "government by the people and for the people" will fall on deaf ears.

That's what Whedon probably means by "dictatorship". He means "a government that is not following leftist principles".

Each State would get to appoint a justice in a manner that the State see fit.

Their justice would be subject to recall by a popular vote of the States majority or a nation wide vote of 70% majority or a congress recall of 60% in both houses.

This would take the appointment of judges away from the deep State in DC.

I've posted a theory here for several years that Congress is actually too big. Too many members spreads the power relation out to too many, making it a much weaker branch in the government compared to the others.

I hadn't heard that.

It could be true, it might not. I'd have to look into it.

Grace Kelly was a confirmed roundheels, though. There's a story that when she first got engaged to Prince Rainier, he was at a Hollywood party where he cornered the actor David Niven and asked who gave the best head in Hollywood.

Without a moment's hesitation, Niven began, "Oh, everyone knows it's Grace - " then stopped in horror before he could finish the sentence, finally managing to stutter out a phony name before beating a quick retreat.

Here's a pic of Montgomery with (I think) Judy Carne and Marlo Thomas:

241 Well, yeah, but our legal system has more in common with the TenComs than does the death-cult of islam's sharia. "

People have a false image of what "sharia" is, because the idea has been a political football. It's arguably much more closely based on the 10 commandments than our law is today. "Thou shalt have no other Gods before Me" is an actual enforceable law under sharia, but not in our law.

Sharia, in it's full form, is not that much different than if we took the Book of Leviticus and treated it as a formal legal code. When it was first devised, it was actually a big step up from Bedouin tribal law, such as it was. The problem is that it's not compatible with a pluralistic modern western society. It's got some ideas that we reject but which might not be that bad, such as that the victims of a crime have to agree with the punishment meted out.

You see this yute your Honor carjacked a Mazda and drove into a national forest where he started to shoot at people. Until he tried to terrorize a retired Alabama LEO into giving him water. The LEO went into his camper, handed his wife a handgun and told her to take cover, he then stepped out and engaged the dangerous idiot with his AR-15. At this point Benson drive the stolen Mazda into a tree and the retired LEO grabbed a SECOND AR-15 and fired again but saw no further movement.

Benson was still alive with local police arrived. Though he was wounded in several places. He will be charged with six counts of attempted murder. His only previous criminal charges are from 2008 for obstructing a Denver police officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

During the filming of Rebel Without A Cause, she was boinking not only the director, Nicholas Ray, but also James Dean and Dennis Hopper.

And speaking of those latter two, a story - during the filming of Rebel, Dean, Hopper and Wood managed to sneak off to an isolated cabin somewhere outside of Santa Monica. The three decided they were going to have a wild party, like the Hollywood stars of the 1920s did, and what was more Hollywood than a pretty girl taking a bath in champagne and letting her lovers drink it as she bathed?

Dean and Hopper arrived at the cabin and filled the tub with cases of bubbly. Soon afterwards, Wood joined them. The three joked around and then the men watched as Wood stripped off and stepped gingerly into the effervescent liquid.

But as her holy of holies touched the champagne, a look of utter anguish crossed Wood's face. My pussy's on fire!" she screamed, jumping out of the tub and running for the bedroom, leaving a naked and horny Dean and Hopper to spend the rest of the night alone.

424 I just watched Trump sound off at the NATO breakfast about Germany. I couldn't tell if there was a German there at the table, but there must have been.

The thing most interesting was his statement that other Presidents have spoken about this, but never followed through on correcting it.

Since Merkel and Germany have already been acting Anti-American for over a year, this does not hurt us with them. So not sure why people are saying he is insulting our allies. He laid out the facts about one specific ally.

Additionally, Merkel is not real popular in Europe right now, as she is helping single handedly destroy it with the migrants.

From what I've read on other sites in comments and in the clown press, they obviously don't know this...color me NOT surprised.

446 Been a while, drive-by comment before I lay me down to sleep for a while (gotta work tonight):
Mom is doing well with her cancer treatments, she's into the second phase and still walking 2 miles a day although she gets tired easier. She's lost her hair but a woman at her church makes wigs. She looks...strange...as a redhead. Good, but not what I expect from my mom. Dad seems to like it though.

Some of you may have seen that Gal Gidot (Wonder Woman) did a surprise visit to a hospital in NoVa this past week. It's been all over the news, Entertainment Tonight, ect. The baby with the ladybug sticker on her cheek that she's holding is my niece Karalyne, the one who is in the prayer list for her infant leukemia. The good news is she is also responding well to treatment, at the last report she is waiting for her neutrophil counts to come up so she can have her bone marrow transplant and finally be done with all of this.

Thank you one and all for the prayers. GGE sends...

452 The focus on NATO countries' % of GDP defense spending is a handy and obvious and irrefutable club with which to beat them, but it's not really the issue.

The issue would be the purpose of NATO, given that it succeeded in its founding mission, which is now moot, the threat having collapsed.

But yeah yeah inertia is the greatest force in nature, even Trump and Co. don't have the energy and ambition to confront the real issue directly now, OK. But there's a second dimension to the irrelevance of the defense spending %.

The NATO states (exception: "new Europe", eastern Europe) lack the interest or will or motivation to be allies in anything but name, in any actual important activity.

Germany could be spending 10% of its GDP on defense - would make zero difference to US interests anywhere, under any conceivable scenario. Ditto for France, even the UK now.

Pompeo's statement (understandably) was mostly the usual boilerplate about NATO, but he did mention terrorism. Important to note that (again, assuming reasonably that NATO won't be a serious player in any conventional military response to terrorism), counter-terrorism is 90% intelligence, even finance, not conventional military action.

470 Yep weft, but San Onofre should be just one of a dozen coastal nuclear power/water desalination plants (duh). Actually, San Onofre and Diablo Canyon should live out their service lives, adding the water production aspect, and a dozen new-generation closed-system safer simpler nuke designs should be established.

It's a dramatic measure of the effective idiocy of CA voters and perhaps a majority of Americans that this obvious solution to both power and water issues was not adopted years ago.

CA could have plentiful cheap power and water, easily. It's criminal and embarrassing how economically and scientfically illiterate CA "elites" and masses are.

Russia's behavior wouldn't change a bit depending on what are pitiful defense efforts, even if the spending goals were met. Political will, what is it again? There is precisely zero political will in 90% of NATO and and all the major players to do anything meaningful about Russian behavior.

Macron is Merkel's closest ally since he came to power, but Merkel is weakened in her own country, and PDT just slammed Germany at the breakfast. Justin T, who is in a bromance with Macron (though one is not genuine about it, IMO), may come out the worse for wear too.

Macron is gonna have to make some decisions about his alliances for his country's sake. I haven't read enough about him to know how he has evolved or devolved in office. He had been better than previous French leaders, initially.

Then problem over there, is bcz of the EU, countries are hamstrung in negogiating for themselves. It complicates everything 1000 fold. Great for the globalists, not for the people.

484 I have long advocated 50 justices but not the way it currently is.

---------

I've posted a theory here for several years that Congress is actually too big. Too many members spreads the power relation out to too many, making it a much weaker branch in the government compared to the others.

By that same assumption, more justices would diminish the power of the Supreme Court.

========

Poland knows how to reign in their judges. There was a recent brouhaha because the mandatory retirement age was lowered from 70 to 65, meaning 28 of the justices including the chief justice, are to be retired.

This was done to get rid of a lot of communist era appointees. About 28 out of the 73. Of course the EU doesn't like this and it has sparked protests.
