Scott Pruitt Resigns as Administrator of the EPA

The leftwing, and the Weekly Standard, have been baying for his head for a while.

Here's the Weekly Standard in one of its columns calling for Pruitt's termination.

From the beginning, the media had it in for Scott Pruitt.

There were two reasons for their determination. First, President Donald Trump's EPA administrator sought to roll back what Pruitt correctly believed to be costly and deleterious environmental regulations. We held him to be largely right on that score, and still do. The media, and especially the New York Times and Washington Post from which other media take their cue, shared the view of rank and file EPA bureaucrats that Pruitt was "anti-science" and therefore illegitimate. His deregulatory efforts, in their view, would result in environmental catastrophe.

The second reason for the media’s hatred of Scott Pruitt is simply this: He invites it.

Pruitt's use of public money for non-essential purposes has become a pattern. He's used taxpayer dollars to purchase lavish dinners and accommodations in five-star hotels; a new, expensively retrofitted Chevrolet Suburban; first-class flights, domestic and foreign, for himself and his security detail; a massive security entourage; "special hiring authority" pay raises for favored staff; and costly office renovations (this last violated two laws, according to the Government Accountability Office). None of these profligacies, taken by itself, would present a major political problem. But together, they present a major one.

Consider, too, reports that Pruitt leased a condominium owned by the wife of an energy-industry lobbyist at a significantly reduced rate, and demoted and/or reassigned EPA staff who raised objections about the administrator's large expenditures. Again: Neither offense, taken on its own, would necessarily prompt a fair-minded observer to conclude that Pruitt should be fired. Taken together, one begins to wonder why Pruitt's still in office.

Well apparently Trump agreed.

205 The only unforced error is resigning. Pruitt was a GREAT regulation cutter. How can Trump, the king of "never apologize," accept this retreat in the face of a stupid girl berating his people as they eat lunch? And what the hell happened to Pruitt's balls?

Only explanation that makes sense is the suggestion above that Kelly was behind this. Kelly is a deep state plant. Why did the Comey/Rosenstein/Mueller conspirators first go after Flynn? So they could replace Trump's primary anti-jihadist with an adamant anti-anti-jihadist, in line with Mueller's purge of all intel from the FBI that linked Islamic terrorism with Islam.

These a$$holes are way beyond neck-deep in $hit. They are 100% behind everything Obama did to advance the position of al Qaeda/ISIS, and they are the same with the rest of the radical leftist agenda. The military under Obama took huge steps to "go green." Yeah, that would be Kelly, and just like Kelly and Mueller on Islam, Kelly does want his green legacy undone.

He is a stinking Mueller plant.

The tolerant and wonderful Resistance that wants to take over the country. That is really sad. It's a whole other level when someone threatens your kids and family. A lot of men can take the heat, but when people come after your family, unrelentingly so, I can understand why they may resign.

Sure, the Pruitt allegations (only allegations and certainly flimsy in places) are penny-ante stuff when compared to routine government waste and I'm sure as hell not going to defend the Mueller witch hunt.

But what I'm trying to get at is this: the more hysterical the Left gets, the more that the Right is willing to put up with from its own side . . . just to keep the left from "winning."

I'm not happy with where that ends up going. (Though given the hell-in-a-handbasket trajectory we're on, I'll admit it's a pretty minor point.)

262 Sure, the Pruitt allegations (only allegations and certainly flimsy in places) are penny-ante stuff when compared to routine government waste and I'm sure as hell not going to defend the Mueller witch hunt.

But what I'm trying to get at is this: the more hysterical the Left gets, the more that the Right is willing to put up with from its own side . . . just to keep the left from "winning."

$50 a night "luxury" accommodations won't get you Motel 6 in some places.

Increased security costs? When people are threatening him and his family?

I'm not putting up with "more" just to keep the left from winning. That shit above doesn't even factor into it.

Pruitt had been pissing off the ethanol folks quite a bit lately. Trump supports an "all of the above" energy policy that includes a continuation of the RFS and Pruitt was becoming a bit aggressive in that area perhaps more than the boss wanted.

Thank you. The comments are interesting. Some defenders, a fair number of leftists and climate alarmists, too. My favorites are the ones calling Pruitt a "snowflake" because he "couldn't take the heat" and "that's public service." We make fun of the snowflakes because they break down at being asked to check "boy or girl" on a form or freak out about phantom "micro-aggressions." Being constantly pummeled by the press (at best, just the press but oftentimes much more than that) every day of your life will eventually take its toll.
It ain't snowflakeism. It is a total breakdown of basic courtesy, let alone anything approaching civility or, G-d forbid, politeness.

I have always liked the idea of a nomadic federal government. Each year, they move somewhere. Buy a building in each state (preferably a not-nice part of the state) and have them do a swap every year.

If the EU can pick up its government and move them between Brussels and Strasbourg arbitrarily to appease Franco-German relations, we can certainly do the same (though for different reasons, obviously).

Robbery: second degree felony violation of 29.02 (threatens someone in the process of a theft.)

Under section 12.47 (hate crime) the racial slur uttered by the robber would advance the assault penalty to a minimum sentence of 180 days, and the robbery charge would be advanced to a first degree felony.

What's worse is they are broadcasting where the kids go to school. The kids are being bullied and harrassed.

I think one of the ways that is effective is to sue them. Taking all of their money and threatening jail time has got to scare a lot of them. Some, I realize, work for organizations that feed them money and legal support, but enough times, and extended jail sentences and they may see the light.

I think tech has compounded everything. The ease with which people can fire off threats, the doxxing, the constant media 24/7, the clickbait for revenue. The tech companies manipulating search results and social engineering.

As for Trump, I can't imagine he saw these kinds of attacks...heck, I didn't. I sure didn't think it would be this sustained and people would lose their minds, or the other 101 things that have defied belief.

I'm bracing myself for what is coming next. It is hard to believe that'll get worse, but I think the Supreme Court and elections are gonna have them at Defcon level no return. Especially when college campuses are full again.

The increased calls for violence in the streets from various corners tells me that is their fondest hope, and best chance for shutting down government. Can only hope people won't listen to it.

Until Hope Solo and Stormy Daniels went mainstream, I had no idea that a product called "Anal Bleach" existed. Or is it a service?

413 Re: appearing in public in this atmosphere...
I just don't get it. I don't get seen in but a handful of stores, and I'm a nobody.
How can these people (Administrators) not stay out of the public view?
I could "muscle up" with two big guys. A US Administrator can't have two security guys when he appears in public?
I truly don't get it, and I'd like an explanation (cause I know someone on here has one).

415 I'm no psychiatrist, but maybe giving the credit for his resignation to the harping restaurant critic will tone down the threats that come in via phone and mail.

Trying to convince yourself that most threats are not real must be terrifying and exhausting.

Overspending. It's local too. Small town down
the road just approved a $2.8 million contract to repaint a bridge. One
of those iron structures, two lane, over a river bridge.

WTF!!!???

425 Legal Insurrection has more. Pruitt tired of his family being harrassed and threatened. I was wondering how the teacher was able to harrass him. Where was his security? If she can get that close, someone who was more dangerous could get just as close.

431 My bad, accusing General Kelly of being Mueller's anti-anti-jihadist plant. That was McMaster. Doh.

Mueller likely engaged in criminal activity (the doctoring of 302s and the knowing use of doctored 302s) in order to falsely prosecute the anti-jihadist Flynn, who would have overturned Mueller's 12-years of purging the FBI of all intel connecting Islamic terrorism with Islam.

Somehow that criminal Mueller-led deep-state attack on Flynn led to further deep-state maneuvering that somehow led to the anti-anti-jihadist deep-state-favorite McMaster taking over Flynn's position. McMaster, not Kelly.

Apologies to Kelly for temporarily forgetting what I well know: that it was McMaster who was brought in after Flynn.

Kelly might be a deep-stater too for all I know, but it was McMaster who is the outspoken anti-anti-jihadist.

Mueller isn't just trying to overturn an election. He attacked at a specific policy point where the Trump administration was set to overturn Mueller's own policy legacy and Mueller succeeded, he completely changed the main thrust of the Trump administration's ideological approach to Islam.

Mueller is a very serious traitor. When all of his crimes are exposed that guy needs to receive the full traditional punishment for treason. He needs to swing. Very bad idea for Trump to let him continue unchallenged.

The upside of not ordering the DOJ to release everything the oversight committees want is that it is getting Congress to start asserting its own powers. It is getting them in the fight. But the downside is huge.

While Congress dawdles Mueller is free build and launch a crippling attack. It doesn't matter how bogus it is. Once it is launched Trump will have no choice but to submit to it. If Mueller recommends charges?

We already know he is himself guilty of very serious crimes. That is what his sticking his own head in the Flynn noose proves. Unlike Strzok et at. who committed their crimes when they were sure Hillary was going to win, Mueller launched his criminal attack on Flynn after Trump had already won. That means that he had to already be involved. His head had to already be in the noose, so sticking it in again with Flynn did not add to his danger. It worked toward bringing down Trump, which is his only way out of danger.

So we already know he is that desperate. He is willing to put his head in a noose by committing crimes after Trump has already won. That means he will certainly launch another criminal attack against Trump while he has a chance.

Congress is enough in the game. Consider that objective accomplished. Can't wait on them now to actually get the job done. The truth needs to be exposed now so that Mueller can be jettisoned now. He is too desperate and too dangerous to leave in place any longer.
