Nation's Largest Supplier of Hobo Toilets, Starbucks, to Close 150 Hobo Toilet Outlets

They say they'll be closing their Hobo Toilet outlets in the "densest-penetrated" markets.

Does that refer to cities, where there's a lot of foot-traffic and hobos and therefore the highest need of Hobo Toilet Outlets?

Or does "penetrated" refer to its heroin shooting gallery side-business?

We'll have to see.

Americans' long-running joke about a Starbucks on every corner may be nearing its end.

The coffee behemoth is retrenching in its home market as it contends with sales growth that Chief Executive Officer Kevin Johnson acknowledges isn't fast enough. The cafe chain said Tuesday it expects comparable sales to rise just 1 percent globally for the current quarter--the worst performance in about nine years. That's well below the 2.9 percent analysts were expecting, according to Consensus Metrix.

Starbucks also plans to close about 150 company-operated stores in densely penetrated U.S. markets next fiscal year, three times the number it historically shuts down annually. Shares slid as much as 5.1 percent in early trading on Wednesday.

"Our growth has slowed a bit," Johnson said in an interview. "I expect better, I think our shareholders deserve better, and we're committed to address that.”

A few weeks ago some friends and I plunked ourselves down at an outside Starbucks patio table and sat there for hours without ordering anything.

Well, one weak Cuck did order a small tea. But there were four of us. I was drinking something I'd bought elsewhere!

Anyway, it was my right as a Transient and I enjoyed it to the hilt.

True to Starbucks' policy, we were permitted to do this. So, hey, at least they're providing free tables for people like me who want to sit down and enjoy my Big Gulp.

Yup. I occasionally get invited to go with them when they make a run. I'll sometimes go along, but I don't order anything. When asked why I just say, "I don't like candied coffee, and their regular coffee isn't any better than what we brew at the office."
I never make it a political thing, I just say the *other* reason I don't go there. And there is sometimes embarrassment over my describing it as "candy." But it most decidedly is candy.

Gas station coffee has, in my general experience, gotten much better in the past decade or so. Amazing what competition can do. McDonald's has been decent for a long time, and their "McCafe" gambit worked out well.

"McCafe" is a good example of how businesses make money. McDonald's surveyed customers and followed them around to answer the question, "What do our customers do *after* they leave McDonald's?" What they learned is that a lot of their customers go to SBUX. McCafe was then born.

I read this to mean too many stores for certain areas...over expansion.

(Heck, if I was CEO that's what I'd do after that brouhaha, and poor sales numbers. Plus, trying to figure out how to maintain good employees who don't want to clean bathrooms. It would be interesting to see where they open new stores. Bcz they will. No way I'm gonna look into all this or follow it to see if I'm right...bcz I just don't care.)

Surely there will be a list of closed stores that SJWs will analyze and then scream racist if too many are shutdown are in the wrong areas. We shall see. Maybe Starbucks has pre-empted that with some deal.

I have some info that one of the reasons these things are happening is so many people say they have food allergies, when they don't. So just like everything else, it hurts the people who have life threatening allergies bcz people get lazy and doubtful.

No, their movies really are that bad. Suicide Squad was half a tolerable film and half just lame. And it was done all wrong. Zack Snyder, despite his great job with 300 is a terrible, terrible choice to head up their films. He's ruining a world-famous franchise. Wonder Woman was a slight help but they need a run of great films to build up good will and trust in the DC cinematic universe.

The longer you go making meh and lousy films, the longer it will take to build up that trust. Until then you won't see Avengers-level bucks.

233 There are a lot of theories about Infinity War. In the comics, they fixed everything and everyone came back but its likely in the movies at least some are gone, forever. Not likely any of the big names, but who knows.

I mean, Robert Downey jr is my age, and that's no time to do action movies. Chris Evans is fairly young still but he seems to want to move on and another contract for him to do more movies would probably cost half of Disney's empire. This isn't like the comics, they can't keep the same dude in costume for 80 years. Its like changing artists on the line, you gotta put someone new in there or dump the character entirely.

Its possible that Bucky takes over for Cap. Spider-Man might stay dead just because that was the terms of their deal with Fox (you can use him to build up emotional attachment but then he's history) which would be too bad for Tom Holland, because he's pretty good at it.

I haven't seen the latest Avengers film because I don't see stuff in theaters any more (partly cost, partly deliberate decision), but my guess is they tip their hand who lives and who doesn't at some level.

As I said, I live in an area where I do not experience it. So really, one sole experience. I would guess the majority fit what you say...especially in 2018. There are always a few exceptions that prove the rule. Maybe my guy was one.

All I really was trying to say is that there are down and out people who try and still maintain some civility by purchasing things, instead of expecting the store to owe them. The guy may have been living in a halfway house somewhere, and he came to my part of town to spend his day and not get it trouble. Yea, I've reeaalllyyyyy overthought this. lol

Indeed. I had a friend who went thru so many treatments and it never did shit for her. She finally said enough. She battled cancer for 10 years. But she wanted her final days to be one of peace. So quit it all and lived out the rest of her days with her mom taking care of her. My high school bestie.. I still miss her.

Not much action at the new Starbucks. But traffic backs up from the new Chick-fil-A just down the street.Chick-fil-A did have some protestors out front for a few days, but they got lost in all the cars waiting at the drive thru. 443 In my own case, I haven't gotten any chemo so far. I'm getting immunotherapy, which is a fairly new approach. The idea is to use a drug, Keytruda, which stimulates my immune system to attack a specific genetic marker in the tumor.

So far only certain types of tumors are amenable to this approach, and they're still in the process of developing drugs for other kinds of tumors.

Immunotherapy doesn't have any of the familiar side effects of chemotherapy, but it has its own risks, namely that my immune system could become overstimulated and start attacking healthy organs. That hasn't happened so far, but I suspect that the risk will increase the longer I'm on it.

They are to blame. Most of them are coming here with kids because their friends or neighbors or other family members are already here illegally, and receiving all sorts of benefits, and they've been told they have a better chance of getting in and staying in if they come with a kid. So they figure they'll go on up with the kiddo and hop on the American taxpayer-funded gravy-train too, because why not? Everybody knows Americans are suckers with money to burn.

So you're gonna break some laws, and expose your kid to cartels and rapists and murderers and rattlesnakes and scorpions and 100+ degree temperatures. That's life! Can't get rich without taking some chances, and little Raul or Juanita might as well learn that sooner instead of later!

473 Here's what I know about the evil twin cancer-killers, chemo and radiation. Those two will kill bad cells and good cells too. Call it friendly fire if you like. I had chemo and radiation 13 years ago and though it killed the cancer, I never really got over the treatment. Am I disappointed? Why hell no. That would make me a bigger fool than someone who opts out of treatment. I often go through the oncology center and my doctor will point me out to her current patients as one of her (but mostly GOD's) better pieces of work. I agree.

477 I guess nobody heard the story? The state of California, last month, declared coffee to be on its carcinogen list. And I said right away, no way Starbucks will let that stand. All they have to do is threaten to lay off a few thousand barristers/barislacues/barmaids, and the state government will cave, doesn't matter if there are bubbling lesions on those coffee filters.

This morning, California caved. They have removed coffee from the list.

I don't think any substance has ever been removed from that list before.

Rest assured, nothing but Genuine Science went into this decision.

480 SBUX has over expanded, these 150 are the first cut, expect more to follow. Less than 2% of their US sites.
Remember $ 15 min wage is being phased in, it's not immediate. SBUX also offers health care and good benefits as well for part time folks, so the $ 15 hour/min will really bite.
Then we have rents, fees and all the SJW regs and extras added onto biz in deep blue cities. Expect to see other big franchise ops like Subway do the same things.
The whole race thing was Schultz's swan song of wokeness. it was unjustified and a big distractions and just sullied the brand, SBUX was not full of racists.
They probably fear an anti-US backlash in China if we see a trade war. They also have more competition and are running up to limits on what people will pay for a drink.
