Claim: Future Soy Wars Movies on Hold as LucasFilm Tries to Navigate the SJW Asteroid Field It's Created

I don't know if I buy this -- this hot scoop is from "Collider," whatever that is -- but it made me smile.

t may be a while before we see any more movies like Solo: A Star Wars Story out of Lucasfilm. Sources with knowledge of the situation tell Collider that Lucasfilm has decided to put plans for more A Star Wars Story spinoff movies on hold, instead opting to focus their attention on Star Wars: Episode IX and what the next trilogy of Star Wars films will be after that film. Sources tell us that the previously rumored Obi-Wan movie was in active development, but those who were working on the film are no longer involved. It was recently reported that Logan filmmaker James Mangold was in early talks to write and direct the Boba Fett film, but that was before Solo's release.

This news comes in the wake of the disappointing launch of Solo, which was only Lucasfilm's second A Star Wars Story spinoff, but which received mixed-positive reviews and fell short of box office expectations.

Disney is terrible and deserves to have its nose bloodied.

33 What exactly do you have in a Boba Fett movie anyway?

This is what I call the Locke Conundrum (from the Locke character on Lost.)

1) TV show/Movie creates a character that a lot of people like.

2) Fans want to know more about character.

3a) If studio is smart, they do not give it to them. Character stays popular.

3b) The studio gives fans what they want and ruin the character. (Han Solo is the most recent example.)

And Boba Fett is not that good of a character anyway.

36 It would *like* a producer to produce a Star Wars film that isn't SJW, but treats the protagonists and antagonists each with respect for their different philosophies.

George Lucas himself *almost* succeeded in Revenge of the Sith.

I don't think Disney can. Abrams has Nazis on the brain - perhaps understandably, for (((one of us))). The others whom Kathleen Kennedy has pegged are just panderers.

The more this happens, the better the world is. Also, if you laugh at them while putting your pocketbook away, it acts as a force multiplier. They are also terrified of being ostracized, and so shunning them really underscores their "otherness" and drives them into depressed terror.

There was an expanded universe novel trilogy focused on Boba Fett after he successfully escaped the Sarlaac. I believe the final climax of the series involves him hijacking a star destroyer under construction. The authors did keep his motivations close to his chest through most of the books though.

He's a character that could be done well. Just no faith in Hollywood to accomplish that.

Plus, like many Union-Label products, it's gotten painfully expensive to purchase movie tickets.

I am a family of four, and my youngest is 11. So I am buying three adult tickets and one child ticket (for now). Easily kissing $40 unless I make a concerted effort to scrimp (matinee, not use Fandango, not go to the luxury theatre, etc...) Thankfully I have been blessed with a family who doesn't like the 3D experience, or you'd be looking at closer to $55-60.

That is no longer "spur of the moment" money on our budget.

You'd better be cranking out some damn fine product that all four of us are going to enjoy, and that we adults are going to be comfortable subjecting our children to.

Most of time Hollywood ain't making that happen.

And just a few days ago, there were rumors that Disney was planning 9 more SW movies. The Obi-Wan and Boba Fett, a separate anthology trilogy for Rian Johnson, and some more additions to the series proper. But that seems to have been a Baghdad Bob attempt at improving morale.

Sciver thinks that this freeze is a first step to Kathleen Kennedy stepping down. But of course SJWs always double down. The rumored heir to the throne is Kiri Hart who will be even worse than Kennedy.

Look, Lucas was no genius. The stories took old flash gorden serials, mixed with Joseph Campbell mythmaking, mix in a dash of WWII movies, westerns, and samurai films. Viola - Star Wars.

All you have to do is know your audience. And it is not SJWs. You don't need to insult those people, just ignore them. Focus on what makes star wars great, great special effects and music, good casting, fun stories, cheesy jokes and dialogue. Light saber fights with lots of things happening. Baseball was meant to be played without the D.H. I was born in '71, so I know nothing other than the D.H. For the purists, I agree, but I'm not outraged by the D.H.

The infield fly rule is a good rule. Allowing fly balls to drop for a Double-Play is cheap. It is only in the human side of each ruling that it comes into controversy.

There has been discussion of a Space Force almost since the dawn of the Space Age in the 1950s. It's not a new idea.

As the Air Force was split off from the Army in 1947, perhaps the time has come to split off the Space Force from the Air Force.

I disagree. Gary Oldman did a fine job. One think I like about him (also, Daniel Day Lewis) is how he leaps into roles with both feet. There were several things about the movie I didn't love, but Oldman's performance was *excellent,* even if I have some quibbles with what he was portraying.

376 I just got back from watching a good Disney movie: Incredibles 2. If you were an SJW, you could say that there was a little Grrrl Power vibe because Mrs. Incredible got to work while Bob stayed home, but the villain was a conniving murderous female with daddy issues. Not a spoiler, btw: Anyone over 12 could see who the villain was before the reveal.

The men weren't bumbling idiots and the females weren't all highly competent. Except Edna Mole, but that's her central characteristic. The teenaged daughter was interested in a boy and the son was interested in a really cool car.

A couple scenes of Bob adjusting to staying home reminded us of our own dads, our favorites being when he read up on "new math" while the kids were asleep so he could tutor his son in the morning and when he took the kids in the backyard so the youngest could demonstrate his dangerous skills. Heck, it even had a nod to Jonny Quest, best adventure cartoon ever!

It's like I said to my family when we watched the DVD of the first Incredibles: it's really sad that the best depiction of a well-rounded, normal family is a cartoon about superheroes.

385 NaughtyPine : thank you for this. it is sad that I have to wait for a moron review before I can see a movie, but Current Year.

Scary movies these days are still uninfected by SJW. A Quiet Place was good. Hereditary was almost good but had a problem with casting.

I don't like scary movies unless I go with a friend who can tell me when to uncover my eyes!

386 BTW, I knew Incredibles 2 was going to be fun when the Globe & Mail critic called it "Big, annoying and mostly, pointless." I have Canadian friends who swear he writes the exact opposite of what they think.

387 Probably too late here, but has anyone heard anything about the proposed Doc Savage re-boot? I want to say that Dwayne Johnson was attached to the project at one point, and that Shane Black was interested in doing Clark Savage the right way. I think Kevin Smith has abandoned his plan to do a Buckaroo Banzai series, but Doc and company could well have some success
