Atlanta Fed Raises Projection for GDP Growth Rate from 4.6% to... 4.8%

However, in an article about GDP projections I read and posted last week, analysts noted that the Atlanta Fed tends to err on the high side. I would discount their projection and say we're hoping for 4.0%. Or better, obviously.

The big enemy of good news is an overoptimistic prediction about the goodness of the news.

The actual figure will be released Tuesday morning or, as I call it, late Monday night.

Under Obama, the number of Americans getting food stamp skyrocketed, as he loosened the rules and basically instructed all welfare offices to grant food stamps to anyone and everyone without really looking too hard at their qualifications. This was part of an admitted "Cloward-Piven" strategy by the Obama administration to maximize the normal of people getting government benefits, for the two-fold purpose of getting as many voters as possible addicted to and reliant upon government largesse, and also to over-stress the system to make socialism seem necessary.

But under Trump, in just two years, the number of Food Stamp recipients has PLUMMETED back to nearly early-Obama or pre-Obama levels.

Why? Because A. The economy's so much better and fewer people are unemployed and poor, and B. Now they actually see if you're qualified or not.

The interesting thing is that the ONE issue that I've seen the Left and the Right agree on is "buy local."

The Left likes it because buying local buying steering one's dollars away from the mega-corporations. And also because (in their view) buying local meaning less of a carbon footprint for the goods you buy.

The RIght likes it because it strengthens the American economy and the American manufacturing base, at the expense of other nations.

All true, and I think there is another key thing the Obama jobless era brought: hopelessness and dispair. One of the most basic human conditions is self-worth, being able to work to support yourself, your family, and friends.

Obama killed that for millions of formerly working Americans. OCare forced a lot of lower-paying jobs to go under 30 hours a week from formerly a 40 hour week because of premiums liability. Millions went from a single full time job, to a haphazard mish-mash of part time jobs without benefits. No wonder why people were so depressed under Obama.

He replaced a job with uncertainty. And worse, it was not an accident, rather it was the plan from the start. Get as many people dependent on the FedGov, any way possible.

The farther Obama is in the rear view mirror, the better America looks and feels.

I used to would've believed that. All that printed money has got to do something! I would've said. We're gonna have ridiculous inflation once things get started again.

But nope, I don't think that anymore, because it's such a rigged game. The banking system is entirely under the control of this cabal with the Fed.

I realized that a few years ago when the Fed was trying some new "deposit facility", which was just a new name for reserve accounts that would act as "time deposits" -- they wouldn't count toward M0 money. It was a new way to pull money of the system they were toying with.

Well, the announced their test, and voila, $200B or so of M0 magically went into those accounts one week.

The banks were doing the bidding of their controlling masters at the Fed. At the big money, M0 level, there is no free market. It's all controlled.

I realized that a few years ago when the Fed was trying some new "deposit facility", which was just a new name for reserve accounts that would act as "time deposits" -- they wouldn't count toward M0 money. It was a new way to pull money of the system they were toying with.

Well, the announced their test, and voila, $200B or so of M0 magically went into those accounts one week.

The banks were doing the bidding of their controlling masters at the Fed. At the big money, M0 level, there is no free market. It's all controlled.

We don't. And I think it's important to remember this. The news we get from North Korea is from South Korean sources who have a vested interest in keeping the US at the DMZ and the US people hating on the Norks.

We also get some filtered news from defectors, but who the fuck knows what their deal is? Maybe they defected because they stole money or whatever it is high ranking communist officials do to maintain their lifestyles while the serfs starve.

I think it's important to take everything we hear with a huge grain of salt.

True.

We do have a lot of satellite photographs of the gulags, though. In some of them you can see perimeter lines and guard towers/outposts so they probably are prisons of some sort. What happens in them we only know from defectors.

As for Kim himself, we can at least say he didn't build the system he's ostensibly running (we can't even be sure he controls the DPRK government). Grandpa and Pops built it. It got worse in the 1990s during the famine when they felt they needed to start locking up people who were visibly starving to death because it looked bad. Kim hasn't dismantled the system as far as we know, but he probably couldn't do so even if he wanted to do it.

I'm increasingly thinking it's likely Kim is a figurehead and not the actual leader of North Korea. He's got some pull, but the real power is likely the old generals who came up during Kim Il-Sung's reign. If that's true, I have no idea what that means for the negotiations about the nukes.

The theory about that is he was working behind the scenes to consolidate his control of the various powerful political and military bodies that make up the inner circles of North Korean power.
