Trump: I'm Not Signing The "Moderate" House DACA Bill That Gives Away Quasi-Citizenship With Only Token, Fake Border Enforcement

Whew. I was very worried about the House liberal Republicans' shenanigans of forcing a liberal sellout bill on DACA because I did in fact fear that Trump, who has before indicated he's be willing to sign just about anything on DACA, would sign it if it passed both houses.

But he says he won't. Another upside surprise.

After Trump defeated Cruz, and some were arguing (and some were passive-aggressively implying) that we'd be better off with Hillary as president, I and many others noted that we know for a fact that Hillary is a true-believing leftist who quite literally hates us (see Deplorables; see the various conspiracy theories about the right Hillary was fed by Sidney Blumenthal which she was all too eager to believe), and, while Trump may have liberal tendencies, we could at least influence him.

He would listen to us, at least, as he needed our support and our votes to be successful and be re-elected. Hillary, on the other hand, needed none of that from us, and in fact would garner the support and reelection votes from her Democrat supporters by giving us the thumb in the eye and actively working to harm us,, even if there was no clear policy question at stake.

"Making Conservatives Cry" has been one of the only consistent goals of the leftist coalition for years, which makes it adorable when self-proclaimed TruCon experts at politics whine about Kurt Schlichter merely joking about Making Liberals Cry as an important goal. (Well, he's half joking -- and to the extent he's half-serious, he's half-right.)

At any rate, it turns out those of us who decided that Trump might be a liberal, but Hillary was definitely a bloody-shirt revanchist leftist avenger, and that we could in fact push Trump to support us, were right, and those claiming that Trump was even more liberal than Hillary (on fucking what? On the disastrous devotion to neocon militarism-and-childlike-moral-idealism?) were wrong.

Not that they'd ever say so.

So I'll confess error on their behalf.

I'm generous like that. I want to save them the effort and anguish of having to admit, for the 300th time, that they were wrong. (Not that they've admitted they were wrong those 299 times, of course.)

Actually... I shouldn't crow yet. Trump's claim that he won't sign a moderate bill could be a bluff. And he frequently changes his mind.

So... I guess I retract my claim of victory in this matter. I can only say I'm reassured at the moment, and not as worried as I had been.

But I'm still worried.

Either way, though: Not really any question that President Hillary Clinton would have amnestied all illegals, including those with serious criminal charges against them, as she promised in a debate with Bernie Sanders, huh?

Ugh: Yeah, color me worried again.

36 $18B for a nice BEAUTIFUL wall ... with big doors for immigrants that qualify (love America, high IQ, wealthy, young, etc) ... which means ... a quarter million a year LEGALS.

We can do it YES WE CAN CAN.

imo Trump was always going to push for less immigration ... and a more practical "socialism" as opposed to the current Suicidal Socialism that is well underway. Trump always was a little "left" in a way, but in a pragmatic balance the books way.

What our government has done instead is lied about funding our future, and exploded our debt while lying about everything, setting the stage for the globalist NWO destruction.
So Trump's "won't let people die on the streets" socialism is much closer to "conservative" than the RINO globalist open border, trillion/year trade deficit ... "What, Me worry?" approach.

84 I don't think the alleged conservative community, now half NeverTrump, were EVER realistic in addressing trade deficits or mounting unfunded liabilities ($200T in unfunded retirement promises?) nor in addressing the globalist QUADRILLION in the shadow derivative market.

So it is goofy to me when I hear them say "we can influence Trump to be more rational". Total Bull Crap. Conservatives watched debt explode, kept spending, pushed the Free Trade lies that made China a (soon) Communist SuperPower. The "we can make Trump see our genius" are the same ones that never made anyone else see their alleged genius.

NOPE ... Trump was right on C-SPAN back in 1990 ... on trade, on protecting American interests ... the genius "conservatives" sucked up to globalists and hollowed out middle America, and were ashamed of Trump saying America First. They don't get IT. Nation States ... conserve the Republic, which is a people, not an economy.

His policy is delightfully conservative so far, considering my low expectations.

I do expect that the longer he has to deal with the BS from Congress and MSM, the harder he's going to push back. He has shown he's not the type to get worn down and give in. SO these DC fools are digging their own graves (or leaving office like Ryan when their games fail spectacularly).

This administration will forever cement the idea that personnel is policy.

Is Trump picking his justices to send to Congress? I bet he just signs off on the list. That list is being provided by The Federalist Society.

The luckiest thing that happened to us and this country was the conservative wing of the party latching onto him early. It tainted him for the other wings of the Republican party, as well as the Democrats as a whole, and meant that most of his closest advisers would be pushing conservative solutions with his blessing, even if without his knowledge.

He just walked out on the White House lawn and talked to the elder Ducey, taking up a half hour of the Fox morning show. (Btw, the Ducey's are at least as tall as he is, I was impressed).

And then the Foxes commented "oh, he's gone out past the news scrum, he has to go back through them to get to the West Wing. I wonder if he'll talk to them".

Well, he stopped in the scrum. He spent another 20 minutes taking questions.

The last three things he said were "Barack Obama lost Crimea". By that I mean he said it three times.

The expression's meaning has shifted. There's a Sherlock Holmes story where IIRC a brother and sister are running a scam as husband and wife or something, and Holmes (again, IIRC) says something like, "but notice they did not make love"-- which, in modern vernacular HOLY CHEESEBALLS, but back then, was a different, earlier stage of the process.

249 Make liberals cry? That offends some #neverTrump "conservatives"? Not sure what they would make of me - I am want to make them double over with the pain of a gut punch.
Trump was not my first choice in the primaries - but once he got the nomination I thought - "eh, why not? He's certainly better than the horror show that would be Baron Hitlery Harkonnen Klinton I" I kind of considered that a "given" and that most real Americans, and specifically all republicans and conservatives, would agree. Nothing has enraged me more than this #neverTrump b*llsh*t which is basically a willing participation in a propaganda campaign, operated by the leftist socialist democrat criminal conspiracy, designed to ensure that no normal, non politician citizen ever gets elected again and establishes an anti-American cabal of un-elected bureaucrats and career (one step above retarded person) politicians as our fuedal overlords. Nothing could be further form the vision of freedom of our founding fathers. Nothing.
"But Trump is not a politician. He has no political experience" people would argue. "Umm - that is a feature, not a bug, in my mind." I would say.

Where the f*ck does it say in the Constitution does it say that "only career political people" can hold Federal office because I must have missed it. And what the f*ck is this - "Oh I was President, so now my son is going to be President or, worse, ( sorry 'ettes') my wife? " Or how about my second cousin twice removed's roommate? I mean, wtf? John Adams is rolling over in his f*cking grave so much lately we could probably use him as a turbine to power the entire Greater Boston area.

Oh and do not get me started on this made up "Trump is racist" or Trump "molested women bullsh*t that non one, I mean no one, ever heard about in all the years of Trump in the spotlight (including in NYC where we all have known him to be a blowhard showman and mild annoyance for years).
Sorry - It's Friday and I'm punchy.

253 @147

He wasn't gotten to.

Paul Ryan, like most politicians who claim to be conservative are simply frauds and charlatans.

Look, the GOP has controlled the House for the 18 of the past 22 years, the Senate for 12 of the past 22 years and the Presidency for roughly 10 of the last 22 years and literally all we have gotten out of it has been temporary tax cuts (The Bush tax cuts and the tax reform just passed, the individual cuts expire in 2025, the corporate do not, thankfully and two of three SCOTUS justices.

That's it.

The GOP is a useless pile of dog shit.

Paul Ryan is a useless pile of whale shit.

256 Part of me thinks the deal with Trump is that for much of his life he was a-political. He was building gaudy buildings and making loads of money. He was engaged in politics to the extent it got his buildings built. I think he has grown into a true conservative, and learned what being a conservative actually is. Also, since progs have vowed to fight Trump at every turn, he will punch back, doing everything to defeat their agenda, not because he's necessarily philosophically opposed, but because it hurts them politically every time they lose to him.

Oh, no doubt, and I would go one further in saying that truly upstanding individuals must be corrupted before they can ever serve in Washington.

But- that implies Paul Ryan has ever been serious about American liberty, as opposed to Koch-flavored corporatism. Someone who truly had integrity, even in service to bad causes, would say publish and be damned- as Trump did. Even someone with a spine, the kind of person who can stand up to massive political pressure, would start plotting the deaths of the blackmailers and everyone taking advantage of the situation. The Clintons have been using such tactics for 20 years.

Blackmail is possible, but Ryan- and Justice Roberts- are not brave. They are pantywaists in service to Bush family "conservatism," and their time is past.

Paul Ryan, like most politicians who claim to be conservative are simply frauds and charlatans.

Posted by: Kreplach at June 15, 2018 04:22 PM (UfMVm)

----------------------

I think a segment of the upper crust of the GOP are globalists. Ryan is a globalist, and they justify it as conservative due to "free trade" and free movement of labor across borders.

It is similar to the way European mainstream pro-business "conservative" parties think about the world. Remember Merkel is technically a mainstream pro-business conservative in Europe.

Everyone throws around the word "conservative", but it means different things to different people when it comes to globalism, trade, and immigration.

We all seem to agree on lower taxes, which is why that is they one thing that always gets approved by Republican congresses.

I think it is obvious the majority of Republican voters are not globalists, which is why we always feel betrayed, when in truth we voted people into power in congress who openly admitted they were globalists. They just said lots about low taxes, free trade, and capitalism, and said less about open borders, cheap labor, and more political globalism.

I don't welcome any of the "newcomers."

Our current immigration systems is oriented towards diminishing the white majority.

The vast overwhelming majority of people our immigration system, both legal and illegal, allow into this country are non-whites from Mexico, South America and Asia, with a healthy dollop of Africa.

On it's current trajectory, the US will be an Hispano-Asian shithole, with large pockets of Muslims for good measure.

I was a Flight 93 voter. Todd Beamer and the guys didn't know how to fly an airplane, but they knew what what happen if they did nothing, so crashing the cockpit was the best scenario. Similarly, electing Trump saved the country. In my opinion, everything after Gorsuch is lagniappe. I'd have been happy just stopping Hillary and getting a conservative on the Supreme Court. I have to admit, it's turning out a hell of a lot better than I expected. Two things I didn't expect: 1. A billionaire is incorruptible. He is doing what he believes is best for the country, not what's best for himself. 2. He actually is committed to honoring the promises he made on the campaign trail. Politicians don't do that.

Yeesh, Ace, you gotta learn to stop believing fake news. The worst sellout Trump has done (and it wasn't pleasant) was signing the goddamn omnibus. But then, Congress is filled with spineless weasels and the alternative was a shutdown leading to unpredictable outcomes. Earlier he managed a continuing resolution that worked far better.

The point Is, he only moderates himself when either negotiating with people he wants long term dealings with, or when the alternative is possible MAD for both parties.

Hopefully next year either a Trumpier Congress makes better decisions, or he simply seizes budgetary power from them.

Take that away from them and they have nothing. They will fight tooth and nail to keep that from happening.

I think the only way we get a wall is if Trump vetoes everything they send him whether it is immigration related or not. He would have to shut the government down and gum up the works before they will even consider relenting. Hopefully, as with so much else, Trump will prove me wrong.

She married, but whatever you do, don't look at a picture of her husband. That guy makes Pajama Boy look like Clint Eastwood.

Castrated ladyboys have more testosterone.

478 Could be Trial Balloons...looking for reaction. I'd call the WH line and say don't sign it, but they are closed now, iirc. Can also call other WH offices, but again, unsure about switchboard hours.

Signing on a Friday afternoon...really?

Wasn't the G-7, Fat Boy and IG Report enough for one week. I don't know how he is still standing.

481 What Trump says at off the cuff moments isn't necessarily what Trump ultimately does. There's too much gnashing of teeth and rending of garments over what PDT remarks or tweets. Let not your heart be troubled, ace.

482 Trump says he doesnt. The proven liars and propgandists at the AP, CNN, Bloomberg, The Post, and The Hill says he does. This is just more attempts by the Deep State MSM to sow discord and divide and conquer aimed at Trump's base.

He literally said that he doesn't on Fox and Friends. He didn't have to say that but he purposely did. I'd go with Trumps spoken word on this matter over proven liars with an agenda.

Oooh, Abby Huntsman is on The Five.

Kimberly Guilfoyle and Don. Jr are officially an item.

Secret Service have been having to camp outside her posh Manhattan pad while Don Jr. has sleepovers.

Note the now sort of awkward photo of KG and Don Jr's ex Vanessa all hugging and lovey dovey.

485 I think parts of our brains are a first in first out setup and other parts are a last in first out. And this determines how easy it is to recall what's stored there.

Then there's the "limited room" setup where if you stick something in it to remember, something else gets shoved out and put in a different area along with the circular file setup where it could be found with great effort but probably won't be. This is the largest area. And somethings are gone forever.

As you get older these areas start to merge.

488 Reminds me prior to Trump pulling out of Paris Treaty. Trump not only stated but tweeted position. Anonymous aid says will sign either bill. Money continues to flow from GOP donors to GOP politicians until bill killed. Trump is keeping the money spigots flowing (drain the swamp) until the bill is killed.

Agree to disagree .
Without code breaking and placement of our carriers to take advantage of the Japanese splitting their forces we lose. Period. This was not chance. Now the fact that the Japanese were not able to credibly determine our position and strengths, and other features of the battle - yes luck - but without those two items - the Code and our strategy - we wouldn't even be in a position to take advantage of the luck. Remember your Pasteur: "chance favors the prepared mind."

Glenn Ford as Spruance was my favorite in that movie btw. Although Fonda was excellent. Too bad his daughter turned out to be a commie.

494 The Democrats want to reunite illegal immigrant families because it's cruel to keep them apart.

The Democrats do everything in their power to keep families apart with their domestic policies. Singles mothers, no fathers in the home, welfare, etc.

So which it Dems? Can't have it both ways.
