Saturday Night Joke

A GUY GOES INTO A BAR IN NEW YORK WHERE ALL THE BARTENDERS ARE ROBOTS:

THE GUY SITS DOWN AT THE BAR AND THE ROBOT ASKS: "WHAT WILL YOU HAVE?
THE GUY REPLIES, "WHISKEY."
THE ROBOT BRINGS BACK HIS DRINK AND ASKS, "WHAT'S YOUR IQ?"
THE GUY SAYS, "168"
The robot talks about physics, space exploration and medical technology.

AFTER THE GUY LEAVES, HE PAUSES AT THE STREET CORNER AND THINKS ABOUT WHAT HE JUST ENCOUNTERED,

AND THE MORE HE THINKS ABOUT IT THE MORE CURIOUS HE GETS, SO HE DECIDES TO GO BACK.

THE ROBOT ASKS, "WHAT'S YOUR DRINK?"
THE GUY ANSWERS, "WHISKEY."
THE ROBOT RETURNS WITH HIS DRINK AND ASKS, "WHAT'S YOUR IQ?"
THIS TIME THE MAN REPLIES, "100."
THE ROBOT TALKS ABOUT NASCAR, BUDWEISER, LSU AND ALL-STAR WRESTLING.

THE MAN FINISHES HIS DRINK, LEAVES, BUT IS SO INTERESTED IN THIS "EXPERIMENT" THAT HE DECIDES HE'LL TRY AGAIN.

HE ENTERS THE BAR AND, AS USUAL, THE ROBOT ASKS HIM WHAT HE WANTS TO DRINK.
THE MAN REPLIES, "WHISKEY."
THE ROBOT BRINGS THE DRINK AND ASKS, "WHAT'S YOUR IQ?"
THIS TIME THE MAN ANSWERS, "50."
THE ROBOT LEANS IN REAL CLOSE AND SLOWLY ASKS,
"SO, ARE YOU PEOPLE STILL UNHAPPY THAT HILLARY LOST?"

Location, location, location. Ghost town for sale. Cool. California ghost town. Not cool.

Nestled between two national parks, Sequoia and Death Valley, there is a ghost town for sale. For a little under a million dollars, you could own a piece of the American West: an abandoned silver mining town founded in 1867 called Cerro Gordo.

California, just too nutty.

11 Willowed from the bottom of the last thread:
Completely OT:

My 21 y/o old daughter and her (now) fiancee ( 2 just told me this afternoon that they had gotten engaged.

They have been together 3 years now. When they first got together, I asked her why she was dating someone so much older. Her response ?

"Have you seen the man bunned pussies that are my age?"

Well played, kiddo. Well played.

If you would, please put up a little prayer for their ceremony. The respective women in their lives are already trying to dictate how their wedding will be.

They would like to go small and cozy, so Imma gonna pay for it and those women can GFT.

Woman's little breaks a $132K valued sculpture. Insurance company hits her with the bill:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5852055

Note how the woman is just oblivious while her little Precious runs around amok, and then says, he was just "hugging it" because he's such a sweet loving little boy.

I'd hit with another $25K just for saying something that stupid.

30 Chances are the clothing you donated will end up in a landfill, furniture filling or insulation.

They've turned charity on its head. Time past you would donate to and organization and they would distribute or sell these items to poor people.

Now they cherry pick items to sell to middle and upper middle "bargain hunters" then distribute the proceeds as they see fit.

In my mind that's not charity.

46 I can testify to the fact that Fort Wayne, IN is indeed the cheapest in all the land. When my friends come visit us from Chicago, my birthplace and hometown until '96, I delight in playing a game I call "guess my mortgage payment" for the 3200 Sq ft (finished) literal mansion built for one of the richest dudes in town back in the mid 1920s on an acre of land in one of the "hippest" neighborhoods four minutes from downtown.

I'd love to be able to get sushi at 3am or have so many things to see and do I could not do them all in three lifetimes such as living in my beloved Chicago would allow me, but not at the price I would have to pay. Not just in money but also in convenience and safety

74 Has anyone else noticed that the froohaha over the "kids being separated from their immigrant parents" is a complete and utter setup?

The D's and the GOPe's desperately want an amnesty bill passed before the midterms. So, as the amnesty bill is being considered, the media suddenly discovers that violators of immigration law are separated from their children when they are taken into custody. This has been going on for many years, of course.

Please - there has been a coordinated PR plan on the shelf for quite a while, ready to be executed at the point of maximum political impact, in an effort to pressure Trump into signing the amnesty bill. This PR plan is now being executed.

I hope Trump realizes that he is being played - he has done better on immigration issues than I expected, but I don't know about this one. I hope he figures out that when everyone who hates him is telling him to sign the amnesty bill, they probably don't think that it is to his benefit to do so.

When you watch 'em in order (I am doing so), you get:
- The Obsolete Man
- Two
- The Arrival
- The Shelter
All in a row. Two hours of the best television ever broadcast, especially the first two. The Twilight Zone is a national treasure.

Also, the Blu-Ray collection is astonishingly good. The picture is spectacular, but the sound is a joy. I always had trouble with TV of that era because the sound was pretty immature. They had a real artist do the sound mastering on the Blu-Ray transfer and it is worth every penny if you're in to the show at all.

431 One of the Twilight Zones I find quite good has a very young Robert Redford in it, as the personification of Death come to take an old woman who's spent her life hiding from him.

What I like is that the entire episode is just 2 characters in one room, with a small intrusion of a 3rd, who gives some exposition to move the plot forward and then leaves. Which means that the dialogue and the interaction between the characters has to be perfect, or else the entire thing falls apart. THAT'S what good writing about - good writing doesn't need f/x, and fancy sets, or loads of characters - just 2, together in a single room, having a conversation and still, it's brilliant.

And then there's The Passerby - don't think I can watch that without at least a couple tears at the end.

489 knew a guy who grew up in Montana, and knew some cowboys. The story was that one of them was tough and would lasso anything, and one day he lassoed a badger.

The cowboy was going to lasso a badger and drag it around, probably to death, but then again the other option was to shoot it.

The guy I knew pointed out that when you lasso a calf you need to cinch your lariat to your saddle horn so the horse helps you hold the calf and drag it to throw it, but what a calf won't do is grab the lariat in its powerful front claws and start climbing it while being dragged, and of course that made unhitching the lariat very important.

He added that the weight being dragged on the lariat makes it really difficult to cast off the lariat from your saddle horn to keep your lassoed badger from viciously savaging you and your horse.

So the moral to the story was, I think, don't lasso badgers.

Unless it was if you lasso badgers be good at untying cinch knots under pressure.

The gist of the first Grauniad story was that a bunch of Muslim women were arrested for plotting a Knife attack near Westminster.

The other one is about a London Drill rap group being shut down by police. Drill rap, in case you were unaware, is essentially rap music in which gangsters gloat over how many kills they've made and threaten other gangs and individuals. In London, Drill Rap Groups often post content on YouTube, where the likes and views bring up their morale as well as help bring in new recruits to the gangs. These Groups (not necessarily entire gangs, but parts of them) also make money from drill rap performances. Cracking down on Drill Rap is a baby step in the right direction, as it will deprive the gangs of easy money, demoralize gangsters and (hopefully) new recruits. However it's only a baby step and could easily just be a case of a blind squirrel finding a nut.

551 I have spent most of the week working in the shop, cleaning and sorting a vast quantity of nuts, bolts, washers, and small screws. Almost done. Thought I was done, until I spied a basket full of freshly-washed 3/8 bolts. But they are all one size, so a relatively small sorting task there. I freed up about 3 lineal feet of bench space; all the coffee cans and jars holding the unsorted parts now emptied, and the parts in the bolt bins where they belong. Good way to spend my time recuperating from the cataract operation, and being not permitted to lift heavy things.

And of course, the bolt bins themselves needed sorting and re-configuring, as the influx of "new" parts made sections full to overflowing. But most of that can be done on an as-needed basis. If I need to put my hands on a 5/16-18 NC by 1/2" captive-washer capscrew, I know exactly where to look. (commonly used to attache engine oil pans) I now have a metric fuckton of clean, sorted ones.
