WaPo Opinion: "There Will Be No Trump Collapse"

Trump's enemies have all deployed the same strategy against him: the mere hope that he will self-destruct.

This was the Establishment's only plan during the primaries, and I guess it's the left's plan now. (Or at least one of their main plans. They do a lot of obstruction and accusing, too.)

There will be no Trump collapse.

From the moment late in 2016 when Hillary Clinton’s formless, themeless, listless campaign handed the White House to Donald Trump (assisted by Comrade Putin), Democrats have been counting on the reckless, heedless, careless novice to return the favor. Rather than melt down, though, President Trump is gaining strength.

After a rocky start, the president has cut himself loose from the highly unpopular Congress to create a clear account of his unusual reign, which he repeats with unflagging discipline. He's a rulebreaker who gets results, and the enemies of change are conspiring to stop him. This is a polarizing message, indeed. But Trump appears to understand that popularity and unpopularity aren't necessarily opposites. They can be partners: Emotion runs both ways.

Since Trump found his footing and lasered in on this message, his political fortunes have brightened considerably. Last December, the RealClearPolitics rolling average of presidential approval polls showed him underwater by a dangerous 21 percentage points. Nearly 60 percent of Americans disapproved of the president's performance, while his approval rating sagged into the 30s.

But look what’s happened since. Despite a stalled stock market, and with the Republican agenda dead in the water, Trump's numbers have popped to the surface. His approval rating has risen from a dismal 37 percent to 44 percent -- not bad in this sour age. (At the same point in his presidency, Barack Obama had fallen to 46 percent approval on his way down to 44.)

Meanwhile, the gap between Trump’s approval and disapproval numbers has narrowed significantly, from 21 points to eight. Admittedly, that’s a pretty solid eight-point deficit; the intensity of opposition to Trump is unusually high. But his command of the GOP going into the midterm is complete. According to Gallup polling, Trump enjoys greater Republican loyalty than any president of the post-World War II era other than George W. Bush after 9/11.

Democrats have a mammoth task on their hands.

...

And their Plan A for escaping the hole, a big Blue Wave that will lift Democrats from coast to coast, may already have crested far out at sea. Looking again at the polling averages on RealClearPolitics, we see that Democrats enjoyed a sturdy 13-point advantage over Republicans in December among voters asked which party they favored to run Congress. That edge has ebbed to a mere 3.2 points.

You can't beat something with nothing. And Trump, whatever else one could say about him, is definitely something.

This should do it, though:

Fact is, we were assured by the WaPo, NYT, etc., that Obama's economic policy was working. . The New Normal. They blocked and hid his foreign policy.
What Trump did was unleash the "Animal Spirit" of the economy of the US. As said above, Trump took the boot off America's economic neck. If you don't have any confidence that some jerkwad is going to interpret some rule or by fiat write into law some asinine law or rule, there is no reason to invest in the future.

Trudeau's party didn't just lose, it was annihilated. For the first time in Canadian history they've actually lost the ability to even be classified as a party in the province.

That means they can't even ask questions in parliament or something. I can't find all the consequences, but it's catastrophic for them. They have to sit on the cuck stool and shut up.

38% of the Canadian population lives in that province. Outside of the Maritime provinces, the rest of Canada is conservative so this is definitely a thing.

I love it. I hope he never sleeps and keeps up this delusional rage. It's not good for anyone. He's on the wrong side of history.

Hollywood is being pummeled to death with all of the news coming out on the abuse of women and children and they choose to double down creating more division and hate for them. To each his own. They will lose this one and the numbers are showing it. This is why they love "globalism." 239 Trudeau's party didn't just lose, it was annihilated.

Throw in Trudeau's eyebrows falling off over the weekend (wtf was that about?), and it's looking like he's going over the cliff next year.
Posted by: Dack Thrombosis at June 11, 2018 12:33 PM (4ErVI)

Gonna have to Fisk you here, Dack. The Ontario Liberals lost bigly, not Trudeau's Liberals. While the Provincial and Federal parties are affiliated, the leadership is not. Granted, some of the disgust with Trudeau may have boiled over into Provincial election, but bull-dyke Wynne is a nasty piece of work in her own right. She lost that election fair and square.

The remaining Liberals is the legislature can still ask questions, and vote on bills. Big consequence of losing party status is no more government money to hire "research assistants", etc.

And outside of Ontario? Quebec is not conservative in any meaningful way. Manitoba, I don't remember. they don't matter much. Saskatchewan: conservative. Alberta unfortunately has an NDP (socialist) Provincial government, but hopefully Red Rachel will get turfed next election. And B.C. has an NDP minority government, propped up by the Green Party, so very Left.

I held my nose and voted for Trump (even though it didn't matter in the PRK--People's Republic of Kalifornia) just because I hoped he couldn't be worse than Hil. Since Gorsuch's appointment, I've been very pleased with almost everything he's done.

He should have immediately reported it to the FBI. And his not doing so if proof of a conspiracy that includes his father.

252 From the moment late in 2016 when Hillary Clinton's formless, themeless, listless campaign handed the White House to Donald Trump (assisted by Comrade Putin), Democrats have been counting on the reckless, heedless, careless novice to return the favor.

Wow! Six "less"es in that sentence - evenly divided between Shrillary and Trump. That is some writing! The parenthetical is the real kicker, though - though the left has always cherished the thought of Soviet Comrades so that is a little confusing.

I also don't recall the WaPo describing Shrillary's campaign in this way back in 2016. Quite the opposite, I think.

Rather than melt down, though, President Trump is gaining strength.

Now, this sentence is more problematic. It really should be "has been gaining strength". Oh well, after that poetic flurry of "less"es who could expect the writer to remain consistent on tense?

These leftists are funny. Sick funny.

322 As for an actual gift for dads, that's hard. Carnations for moms are easy because they are inexpensive, and there is the tradition of giving moms/ladies flowers.

For men, gifts are simply not as easy. Maybe you could find a great deal on bottles of BBQ sauce and attach a nice note? Golf balls with the church name printed on them are a good idea too. For Christmas for my male Sunday School teachers, I made gift bags with beef jerky, peanuts/cashews, chocolate bars and a plane sized bottle of whiskey. Those were very well received.

The Russian chick was barred from traveling to the US.

A few weeks before the meeting someone from State granted her entry, she takes the meeting, then hot foots it out of the country.

The tell that this was a complete setup is that none of the Russian participants of the meeting have been interviewed or contacted by Mueller.

Get a catalog (nowdays, online site with even more selections)... from a Promotional Products company.

You know, stuff like the Brand & Logo pens, keychains, coffee mugs and the like.

Get a nice but inexpensive item "branded" with the Church logo, etc.

Decent quality ballpoint pens are NOT expensive thus, when ordered in sufficient quantity. And, "leftover" pens don't get discared... they are useful always in the Church offices and other departments.

Guys like stuff that is USEFUL. Decent pens are useful, often for many years.

But I'll concur also, on the food ideas. I'd love an Ice Cream voucher, long as it's not to Ben & Jerry's CommieCreamShop.

Anybody could do that, we could have done it when Obama ran things, a pack of chimpanzees could do it. In the end, all it says is how pathetic the persons acting out are, and how completely in control their opponents are.

Yep a list of chores. How to be better dads.

Never give your husband or father a list of chores for F-day. One person who was in charge of the cub scout troop many moons ago, would always arrange for a camp out on Father's Day. Justification was well there's nothing planned that day and why not go camping with your kid? Aside from the fact the kids are all 8-9 years old and basically it will be a weekend of chores for he dad cleaning gear and cooking for all the little kids. AND EVERY OTHER WEEKEND WAS FULL OF CHORES, and nobody mowed my lawn.

I know churches are on pretty limited budgets, and being good stewards, most of the the stuff, even simple stuff, can get expensive.

If you can find a place to source out those cheap LED flashlights that take 3 AAA batteries, those are actually really useful around the house. You always need a flashlight when you can't find it, so I try to "saturate" my house with these cheap ones. Have one in enough drawers all over the place, and the odds of one being handy when I need it is high.

Sometimes it's even free, which I know will appeal to y'a'l'l.You're going to have to mute your phone, although if you can get the subtitles app, go ahead and leave the screen on and nobody will bitch. Set it for "English," and it may change your life.

He was honest and vulnerable enough to say that even though eh had been through a painful divorce God worked things out because he's now raising the boys and he spends more time with them and learned how to do things such as cook. I thought it was a very good sermon-no naming and shaming of men!

Why can't they just take it with all that STRONG FEMINIST POWER that they have?

The best Fathers day would be one without a forced/recycled sermon on Fatherhood.

Also please stop with the inclusiveness when recognizing mom's/dad's. I know it's a heartache for those who long for children and don't have, and even for those who long to be married and are not yet.

But by the time we are done listing all the categories and ways a woman can be considered a mom in my church, everyone over the age of 13 and some younger than that are standing.

Have ministry time available for those for whom the day is hard. Totally appropriate. Moving the goalposts to "include" them literally does nothing to address the actual pain. It's like saying here's a mom participation trophy because you were nice to a child once, stop being silly about the whole longing for babies thing.

Because by and large they do not represent our interests.

For instance, since 2004, the GOP has attempted to ram through comprehensive immigration reform, only to be beaten back by uprisings from the "base", in fact, a GOP candidate used the anger and animosity towards the establishment to defeat 16 rivals and takeover the party....

...and yet it's a good bet that going into this crucial election season the GOPe will try to ram through comprehensive amigo grande, which the President has said he would veto, just as they need every bit of unity to prevent the Democrats from taking over the house and senate.

Now what kind of party interested and dedicated to the advancement of an agenda broadly supported by it's base would do the exact opposite?

I usually have men speak on Father's Day. Last year a man who speaks
for me when I go away talked about how important his father had been to
him and what he had learned. He was honest and vulnerable enough to say
that even though eh had been through a painful divorce God worked
things out because he's now raising the boys and he spends more time
with them and learned how to do things such as cook. I thought it was a
very good sermon-no naming and shaming of men!

And no, we don't make it "all about the wimmenz" even though I am a
woman. I hope through God's grace we make it "all about Christ" and I
frequently tell everyone I love them and am grateful for them.

He's an actor.

He "creates" characters that someone else wrote. He acts at the direction of someone else.

He can be good at those things, but ultimately the creative spark he brings is limited based on the contributions of others in charge of the film.

Once you think about that, you're going to figure out that your only hope of getting away with hating some men is for you to find some other men to suck up to, and hope that you can get them to fight your battles for you. Of course if they're strong enough to fight your enemies, they're gonna be strong enough to turn that around on you, too.

I've read some theories that KJU and his father's regimes were puppets of bigger forces and not the ones calling the shots on all the bad stuff that has gone on there. The theorists speculate that maybe something has changed behind the scenes since PDT came into office to cut those strings, and that's driving the events going on this week. Those are internet theories, so take them with a mine of salt, but they are interesting.

Just have to watch for the elderly with diabetes or other issues. Men love nuts too, like someone else mentioned but people also have allergies to that.

Little bags of different things would work, or a variety of cookies, cupcakes, and or nuts. Just have to be sure they can walk out with it (men like to get home too), and find something they like.

overall, not a good look for female leaders.

You could even say, "You know what I'd like for Father's Day? I'd love a nice bottle of Scotch (or whatever)" and I'll bet you'd get exactly what you wanted.

Eh, it's just my wife and I now. The kids are scattered across the country.

I told my wife all I wanted to do was cook a nice meal for all of us (mom, myself and my wife) this Sunday. My wife looked at me and said, "we do that every Sunday already." I looked at her and told her that's what I want to do.

(I think I take after my late father in that regard, come to think of it)

So, I'll get a small gift from my wife, but, I will do the cooking Sunday. Which means I get to choose the menu and everyone else out of the kitchen!

We'll see how it works out.

564 There have always been women who hated men, just like there have always been men who hated women, and the one thing they all have in common that in the end they all die alone and forgotten by everyone. Life is uncompromising that way.

This mistake is ever giving any of these types a platform to spew their venom, or to treat them as if they have anything useful to say at all. The women who wrote that piece would be better off going out and haranguing her cats, who will care about what she has to say just as much as we do.

But he hasn't made a good movie in almost 20 years.. he has become a caricature of himself..

His politics piss me off too.. but I go into watching movies knowing full well some of my favorite actors are real-life D-Bags.. I just don't care, because I don't listen to their real-life rantings..

570 There have been good female leaders in the past. Rare, but they have existed. Victoria, the first Elizabeth, Thatcher, for example. Golda Maier. They are exceptional unusual women that stand above everyone around them, but they exist.

And there's been a lot of really lousy male leaders. For every good president we get, we have like 8 crappy or meh ones. I mean you can list the number of truly great presidents we've had on one hand, really.

So its rare to get a good leader whoever they are. But its even more rare to get a good female one. And you can see the results of bad or indifferent female leadership in Europe in real time, right now.

The only way that Paper will save you, is if it is also backed up by Men with Swords...

Its like the ideal that all Men are created equal... well... no... nice thought, but even a brief look at reality shows the base flaws in the statement.

And if you base your philosophy on things which are patently untrue? its like basing a Proof on a flawed premise... sounds good, but fails..

yeah, but out of every 8 crappy male presidents, only 1 has been openly treasonous. Whereas out of every 8 female leaders, it seems only 1 isn't completely treasonous when it comes to open borders nutjobbery and other assorted anti-societal choices.

Posted by: Krystal Slider Enthusiast at June 11, 2018 01:50 PM (FOPyv)

576 I think with a lot of female world leaders we see the outcome is an opening of the borders to society's traditional enemies.

We see why they're so in love - sexually - with the notion of Limitless Democracy.

Trying to coerce via Politics what they simply can't coerce via Force ... because they can't personally project the amount of force necessary. As others have said - Feminists quite literally can't.

Keep on ladies. Keep on. I always thought all this Chivalry and White-Knighting bullshit was a sucker play anyhow.

Cards which read:

". . . I'll take out the trash next time"
". . . I'll squish the next bug"
". . . I'll . . ."
(you get the idea)

Tailored to the individual father, of course, and one from each spouse and child for any particular dad.

Something that that particular dad has to do around the house because nobody else does it (or wants to do it), but he doesn't particularly like to do.
