Surprise! CNN's Retarded Mascot Tater Claims That Media Rumor-Peddling About Melania Isn't Rumor-Peddling and Also Isn't The Media

The weakest, most insecure member of any group must fight the hardest to prove he belongs in the group at all.

And that's our Tater.

As John Sexton points out, the "random Twitter people" peddling these rumors include David Frum of The Atlantic, Jamil Smith of Rolling Stone, Natalia Antonova of the Guardian and Vox, Sarah Kendzior of The Globe and Mail, Politico, and... oh yeah, Spuds McCuckleberry himself:

76 As I've shared stories and listened to others', I've been struck by frequent questioning: "Does posting innuendo about the private life of a woman really count as sexual harassment or assault?" It was a freakout, with hammy overacting by everyone. It was turgid, and unseemly, and at very specific moments, shocking. And some of the law enforcement procedural stuff was realistic-seeming.

But yeah, the story is lame, it's quite a let-down, really, how it all turns out. The big action scene toward the end is pure Hollywood schlock.

100% true except the facade is finally crumbling.

Trump is too strong a communicator for the truth to be hidden for so long. He is a one man media. Basically our side's dream spokesperson.

What's going on with the Media/Left right now reminds me of when a cartoon character's invisibility wears off but he doesn't know it. So he's doing his thing, flapping around like a maniac, until slowly it starts to dawn on him that everyone is staring.

It hasn't dawned on them yet but we are close.

177 Moochelle set the precedent. I mean, worse than Hillary. Nearly every day or every other day the press was covering Mooch's celebrity status. Before the Obama presidency, First Ladies would only appear with their husbands at some important, national ceremony if even then.
Posted by: fly gal at June 07, 2018 01:44 PM (8TdcF)

Well, first ladies have been involved in the WH and to some extent , with the American public since Washington. Great website with a rundown of each first lady's accomplishments that weren't always right beside the President.
https://www.history.com/topics/first-ladies

As an example, Martha Washington created a fundraiser to provide money, etc. for the Revolution and she stayed at the Valley Forge encampment during the nasty winter and cared for injured and dying soldiers.

She was the first woman to have her portrait printed on US currency.

Lady Bird Johnson was the engine behind the legislation that was passed called the Highway Beautification Act. ( I remember when that happened). She was awarded the Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal for her work for the ERA, Headstart, etc.

So, no, almost all the first ladies had their own interests and projects and commanded their own podium. It's why the press was chafing when she didn't move into the WH until after Barron's school year was finished in 2017 and why they act like stupid hyenas whenever she isn't out there daily complaining about some injustice in America.

Cool!

In the novel, after Clarice is told about how some moths live on the tears of large animals, human size or so, she goes to sleep thinking: "In all this world, this world that's half dark now, I have to hunt a thing which lives on tears."

When Harris wrote that, he must have looked back at it and said, "That. That's why I became a writer: to invent sentences like that."

As a white woman, I also need to remind myself again and again and again to let go of perfectionism. The possibility of a 'perfect' or even 'right' way of speaking is another lie of internalized inferiority and superiority. I'm sure to trip over the words. I'm sure to do it wrong. I'm sure to confront my own limitations. But I'm also sure that I must speak up in order to practice, to get feedback, and to learn by doing (with the attitude of 'try-try again'). And more than the importance of learning, the costs of complicity are too high. Because I sure as fuck am not worth listening to for anything I actually say.

Not the law wasn't on her side, just that she was young and powerless to save it. She grew up and joined the FBI. By being able to save one of Buffalo Bill's victims, she saved the lamb, so she no longer had to dwell on the scene from her chindhood.

Clarice still hears the screaming of the lambs she couldn't save. The one she did save was supposed to silence the lambs.

Here, Tater believes himself to be on a righteous mission to save something that is in no danger, the allusion being that something is deeply troubling Tater, and he can't make it stop.

The joke being Tater, himself, and his self-righteous delusion of grandeur.

In both movie and novel, Hannibal Lecter seizes on this insight into Clarice's character: Even now, as an adult, Clarice is still (unconsciously) trying to rescue lambs from slaughter. It's why she feels a strong calling to hunt serial murderers. He hypothesizes that she will only be happy when "the lambs stop screaming."

-
Although it is about bad people doing bad things, I think it is an excellent movie and I love the score. I could see it as a Christian movie in the sense that it is the story of son Michael being seduced by sin and power. He begins by being a war hero who wants to move the family into legitimate business and to end their criminality and he promises his girlfriend/wife as much. Due to certain circumstances, Michael becomes more and more involved in the criminality and the movie ends with him telling his wife that they are now legitimate then he leaves the room, closing the door to keep his wife out of his discussions with his lieutenants. The movie is explicitly violent and sexual, shockingly so for 1972.

338 Maybe we need a post next Saturday about good movies for a first date. It will be a public service and will also provide comment gold.
Posted by: Headless Body of Agnew

Movies are terrible for a first date. You sit in silence in a dark room and don't look at each other. A first date should be an activity where you are both talking and able to look at each other.

If you're teenagers just using the movie as an excuse to make out, then what movie you pick us basically meaningless. But if one of you is still trying to figure out if you like the person, a movie is not going to help that.

339 In both movie and novel, Hannibal Lecter seizes on this insight into Clarice's character: Even now, as an adult, Clarice is still (unconsciously) trying to rescue lambs from slaughter. It's why she feels a strong calling to hunt serial murderers. He hypothesizes that she will only be happy when "the lambs stop screaming."

Sure, and further he's pointing out to her the irony that the law or powerful people generally aren't always on the side of lambs, and that even from the inside, Starling gets resistance from the powers that be. Lecter is pointing out she's going to have to step outside the law and upset the powers that be in order to stop the lambs from screaming (quiet her soul).

But my question was meant to discover how this applies to Tater.

Here, Tater believes himself to be on a righteous mission to save something that is in no danger, the allusion being that something is deeply troubling Tater, and he can't make it stop.

The joke being Tater, himself, and his self-righteous delusion of grandeur.

Quibble: The lambs in the story were in danger, they were being slaughtered.

I guess if you squint just right, the metaphor works, though I don't think Starling had delusions of grandeur.

343 285 They want so badly for it to be true, that Trump smacks Melania around. They would be so happy, ecstatic even, if it were true. Worse than small-town gossips. Tater is an old biddy tsk-tsking over the gorgeous, wealthy neighbor. Meanness disguised as concern.

What they are really doing is beclowning themselves all over again.

Oh come on, the line sounded really clever, and no one wanted to think hard enough to try to figure it out, it was just easier to assume everyone else thought it was clever.

Plus you know it bugged Stelter, because he knew it was insulting but he was ashamed to admit he didn't understand why.

353 Not the law wasn't on her side, just that she was young and powerless to save it.

I disagree. Clarise was trying to save the lamb from slaughter. As far as the law was concerned, she had stolen the lamb. The sheriff returned the lamb to the rancher.

She wasn't powerless due to age or naivete, she was powerless because the law wasn't on her side, and the lamb she tried to save was killed.

They were. The joke is that the allusion to Tater is that Tater must have the delusion that there IS something in danger or otherwise have something deeply troubling him that he cannot silence. And so must be on some self-righteous quest a la Starling. He isn't. He's just a loathsome turd.
