Nikki Yovino, Who Accused Two Sacred Heart Football Players of Rape for a Year, Admits In Court It Was All Just a Vicious Lie

What I'd like to see is a probe into her motivation for this, and her psychology. It would be a good thing to know for future cases.

What exactly is it that is spurring young women to contrive the most vicious lies and slurs imaginable? Shouldn't police and psychologists be interested in discovering if there is any pattern or cluster of psychological inclinations that link false accusers?

A young Long Island woman who spent over a year insisting that she was raped by two Sacred Heart University football players officially admitted in court Tuesday that she's been lying the entire time.
Nikki Yovino, 19, pleaded guilty to charges of falsely reporting an incident and interfering with police, according to the Connecticut Post.
The former college student reportedly accepted a plea deal, and will now serve a reduced sentence of one year in prison. She had been facing six.

While both men admitted to sleeping with her, they claimed that the sex was completely consensual. Their lawyer, Frank Riccio II, told the CT Post on Tuesday that they are now thinking about suing Yovino for all the trouble she put them through.
“While this disposition does not replace that which the boys lost, it does send a powerful message that lying about a serious incident carries serious consequences,” Riccio said.

Unfortunately, whenever I see a headline about a campus rape, my first thought now is that is a false accusation, which can't be true in all cases, but must make prosecutors' and real victims' jobs more difficult. I can't help but think that the Kollege Kangaroo Kourts encourage these false allegations. Once the charge gets to a real court with real testimony, burdens of proof, and serious consequences, many of the allegations prove to be regret rather than rape.

But personally, I think we need to go back to the old standard where a claim of rape is NOT believed unless there is some other corroborating evidence. (rape kit, medical examination, eyewitness testimony) And if that throws a whole bunch of sexual assault claims out, well too bad.

Splinter? I used to have a pair of tweezers that I ground down into a point on the end. Used to close them, poke them in where the splinter was, then let them open. That usually allowed me to get a grip on the offending wood to pull it out.

Works well on metal splinters, too, which I got a lot of working in machine shops.

Or if you really can't get it out, leave it for a day and let some fluid build up around it, then pick it out.

Leave it alone for a day or two. If it's a small splinter, usually the most that will happen is you'll get a small pustule: open that and he splinter comes out just fine.

Of course the WORST that will happen is the hand will turn red purple, then black, and begin to smell like rotting apples and old meat. But that's relatively infrequent, in my personal experience.

When society fails to punish and even reward those for acting violent, then those members of the protected group will behave in violent acts in increased numbers with increased frequency.

It's human nature and the state of Nature is one of violence. Social contracts exist as well as laws to exact punishments for a reason. The motivations are as old as time, because they can with no consequences.
