8 President Trump has signed the "Right To Try" bill and, while it sounds
like a good idea, I am unsure whether it will do much. Obviously the
leftist press is minimizing the positive because Trump=Hitler, but my
suspicion is that while it will save some people, it might prompt others
to try unproven and ultimately useless therapies before they have
exhausted the proven options.

But they should have that option, no an indiscriminate law forbidding it.

Debunking 3 Myths About Trump's Moves to Make Bureaucrats More Accountable

https://tinyurl.com/ycdlkqng

In an under-the-radar move before Memorial Day weekend, President Donald Trump signed a series of important executive orders that could speed up "draining the swamp" in Washington.

The executive orders adjust rules pertaining to federal workers so that it now will be easier to get rid of bad employees in a shorter amount of time.

The orders also limit the time federal employees may devote to union organizing during work hours. And they set up a shorter time for negotiating contracts in the collective bargaining process.

Over the last century, civil service rules have made it increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to fire bad bureaucrats.

63 In RE: The Trumplican Party. The shift in the parties is moving along. The Democrats abandoned working class and middle class Americans, preferring their mix of identity groups, academics, entertainers, and billionaires. Trump saw the opportunity and crafted a message to bring those abandoned groups to him, and then added the conservatives and many traditional Republicans. Much to the NeverTrumpers' chagrin, he is recasting the coalitions. The last time that I can think of this happening was the 1930's, and before that the 1850's. If Trump can hold this one together for two terms and show results throughout, he may solidify this. John Boehner is acknowledging the reality.

Hannity Next Target of Deep State, Author Corsi Warns

What close ally of President Trump is set to be a major target for attack?

Sean Hannity.

So claims famed investigative author Jerome Corsi.

"Make no mistake about it, Sean Hannity is being set up for the firing squad, and they won't provide a blindfold this time," Jerome Corsi says.

Corsi is the author of the runaway bestseller "Killing the Deep State," which soared to the #1 spot on Amazon and has become a New York Times bestseller.

"My sources tell me that the 'Deep State' wants to take Hannity out as a major media player.

"They see him as Enemy Number One, and they want him off Fox News, [ and to ] tarnish his reputation, and remove him as President Trump's top media supporter," Corsi alleges.

The problem with this ongoing witchhunt is that Trump can't (or won't) fire them all. They know once this is over he's going to fire the lot of them. They will do as much damage as they can until then. That was and is their plan.

Hannity has always been a target, like Rush and the rest of them, but this is getting ugly and they are now using the power of the FBI and CIA and international spies to take people out. Scary stuff.

Sears lost me as a customer when they raised interest rates on their credit card to something like 18% with a $25 late fee if they received payment even one day late.

I take my couple hundred dollars a month business now to Lowes or Home Depot who actually cut the price if you use their credit card.

The worst thing any business can do is listen to the bean counters and act on their recommendations. It's 'Chesterton's Fence' written all over the headstones in the graveyard of failed businesses.

93 The U.S. should impose offsetting tariffs on countries who use VAT rebates to goose their exports, or rebate corporate income taxes on U.S. exports to those countries.
This goes far beyond blue collar employment. It really is a defense security issue. A number of countries, notably Sweden, cut us off during the Vietnam war and they will do so again. All of our most aggressive trading partners have defense goods embargo policies in place and have used them against other countries.
Do we really want the Chinese, Swedes, or Germans dictating our defense policies?

167 I'm not sure that the Sears idea works anymore. It was basically "Come buy our brand-name knock-offs." All the middle-class families (including ours) went there because they couldn't afford a real Maytag and the Sears stuff was good quality. But with Lowe's, Circuit City, Best Buy, etc., I just don't know if there's enough of a difference there to draw the old customer targets in. Also it seems to me that your average family is a lot richer today, maybe because of 2 incomes, and therefore in a position to afford the more appealing brand names.

The Sears model works just fine - just not by Sears. As you say, the Lowe's model seems to work, or Wal-Mart, or name another store. Stores come and go. Every time a big one goes down, we hear about how retail is changing. Retail is always changing - but its still the same basic idea. New competition comes along and executes better. That's it.

I went to the local small implement dealer to get lawn mower blades sharpened. The guy refused to sharpen them. So I had them order aftermarket replacements. (I have to go get them.)

I could have, should have, and did order a set of blades, an air filter, and oil filter through mfg online website. They were delivered right to my door yesterday.

I'm going to order some stuff from Walmart for in-store pickup, instead of wasting time trying to find what I want in the store, and not finding what I want in the store.

There was a sign up sheet implemented for showers so they could check and make sure she took one without singling her out. She just signed the log without actually taking one. She smelled so awful that you could tell when she had been in a room long after she left it. As a reward for tolerating her, I wasn't given another roommate for a long time. They had to take the mattress out after she left because the smell permeated it. I actually lost weight because I couldn't eat when she was near me.

Some people using this medicine have engaged in activity such as driving, eating, or making phone calls and later having no memory of the activity. If this happens to you, stop taking Ambien and talk with your doctor about another treatment for your sleep disorder.
...
Ambien can cause side effects that may impair your thinking or reactions. You may still feel sleepy the morning after taking the medication. Until you know how this medication will affect you during waking hours, be careful if you drive, operate machinery, pilot an airplane, or do anything that requires you to be awake and alert. Do not drink alcohol while you are taking this medication. It can increase some of the side effects of Ambien, including drowsiness.

Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you are allergic to any drugs, or if you have:

lung disease such as asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep)
myasthenia gravis

a history of drug or alcohol addiction.

Stop using Ambien and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

depressed mood, thoughts of hurting yourself
unusual thoughts, risk-taking behavior, decreased inhibitions, no fear of danger
anxiety, aggression, feeling restless or agitated

This comes amid reports of a 65 percent surge in the number of robberies of cargo trucks in the first quarter of 2018, compared to the same period last year.

322 U.S. Back At No. 1 Competitiveness Ranking -- Will Trump's Critics Ever Admit To Being Wrong?

Economy: Have Donald Trump's policies had a big impact on the U.S. economy and its competitiveness? The answer, we think, is an obvious yes. Now comes a new report, based mainly on "hard" data, that confirms that.

The report comes from the IMD Competitiveness Center in Switzerland. Each year it ranks countries by 256 different variables to come up with its global competitiveness rankings.

For 2018, there was a surprise: The U.S. leapt three places to take over the top spot in global competitiveness -- just ahead of Hong Kong, Singapore, the Netherlands and Switzerland. That jump was based on its "strength in economic performance and infrastructure," ranking first in both areas.

That this is so shouldn't shock anyone with any knowledge of what's going on in the economy.

346 JUNE 4th

When the Department of Justice's (DOJ) inspector general (IG) report is released, it "has the potential to be a bombshell," former Deputy Assistant Attorney General Thomas H. Dupree Jr. said Wednesday on Fox News' "Your World with Neil Cavuto."

The report -- expected to be made public June 4 and to discussed during a June 5 meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee -- will review the FBI's investigation of 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server to conduct official business as secretary of state.

I hope this is true. Tired of waiting.

It could also "potentially" not be a bombshell. Cautiously optimistic.

362 255 I had a roommate who only showered about once a month while I was in tech school. It was absolute torture for me. I had to stand next to an open window when we changed clothes for PT.

We had a friend whose sneakers smelled so bad we would only allow in our room if put his feet under the carpet. Yes, the window was open. The funny thing is he was the son of a big deal CIA Top Dog. Weird.

Exactly. My grandfather is the longest-living of the original group of chemotherapy trial patients. His choices were to definitely die of the cancer or almost certainly die of the treatment. The treatment was *awful* and had side effects he has lived with ever since. But, he did live. In fact he has lived at least as long post-cancer as his life before. In that time his relationships with his children have been mended and not only did we grandkids get to know him but his great-grandkids did too. The knowledge gained has helped many others to live longer as well. All this means I am a huge fan of "right to try" as well as the "orphan drug approval" pushes.

On a side note, see how important it is to use the correct pronouns and not those asinine made-up ones.

389 Germaine Greer tells Hay Literary Festival 'Most rape is just bad sex'
I don't know what the hell to say about this, other than it reinforces my notion that feminism is a horribly bad thing for women.

Anything thing you have to say about feminism I usually just flush...but, considering how I feel about what Germaine had to say the other day about rape, I feel I need to enlighten you.

First off, in the eyes of some(a lot) women(not men), bad women give feminism a bad eye. They have for years.
Second, I'm in my 7th decade of age. I have been a feminist since my teens when Gloria Steinem and many other women burned their bras across the river in NYC. I felt strong that day. I'm proud to be a feminist. I will be until the day I die. And, with that being said, you probably think I don't like men. Well, you would be wrong. 415 346 JUNE 4th

424 Why anyone believes that unfair trade deals are good for the country is beyond me.

More important...

The people who say cheap goods are always better no matter the circumstances are basically the economic inverse of Communists - living in a fantasy world that does not exist.

Cheap goods are not better if we Americans lose our liberties because international corporations don't like guns and free speech for example.

Cheap goods are not better if we lose industries critical for national security, or international companies demanding America do deals with Iran.

Fact: The more globalist our home grown companies have become, the less pro-American they have become. Hence many have come out against free speech and individual gun rights, and for pushing a questionable foreign policy (see Iran deal which was supported by many American companies in the name of globalism).

There is a new thought-game with the small L libertarians: If you got your dream for the minimalist state, would you accept it if it meant that society became more liberal/conservative than what you are comfortable with?

In short, the question boils down to, are you in it for liberty or are you in it for making society into your image?

460 While there may be a grain of truth in the Nixon Madman Theory of keeping your competitors off balance, Coyote blog does not grasp the larger point on tarriffs. They are not an end in themselves. They are a way to finally open these markets to real competition which we all want.

We made a deal with Canada and Mexico. Fine. But they then use that acess to let China and others masquerade as Canadian and Mexican companies. It's like buying a timeshare with two other families and discovering that while you bring your wife and kids, their "families" are the continent of Asia and every fraternity on campus, trashing your mutual investment.

At every turn, President Trump has been Restoring American Democracy by taking power back from unelected blobocracies, international and domestic and making Congress confront their own responsibilities for once in their useless bought-and-paid-for pigs-at-the-trough -lives. No wonder they hate it.

I think this is true, since his show has forever changed news. He merged news + progressive politics + comedy and spawned so many other unfunny fake news/comedy shows that pollute our culture, national discourse.

Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Steven Colbert, Larry Wilmore all started on The Daily Show.

Worse, so many news people and entertainers were fans of what Stewart did that they've emulated him.

As I said before, do not go after Sambee's show, go after all of TBS shows and advertisers. Start with the biggest. TBS and its management/executives approved what Sambee did. It is a network thing. If you can stomach it, Watch a few minutes of Conan and he is just as vapid and hateful. Except for reruns of Big Bang there is only hate from every TBS show. C-I-L-L TBS, kill TBS.

543 Germaine Greer tells Hay Literary Festival 'Most rape is just bad sex'

I don't know what the hell to say about this, other than it reinforces my notion that feminism is a horribly bad thing for women.

I took this to mean she's calling bullshit on most accusations of rape. Which is not a typical position for a feminist to take.

544 And, with that being said, you probably think I don't like men. Well, you would be wrong. I just don't like men usurping my rights to live my life the way I want to.
