This is What Happens When You Vote with Your Wallet [Warden]

The new NFL policy is that America hating millionaire NFL ingrates can either sit in the locker room during the anthem or kneel and get fined for it.

Last year's plummet in attendance clearly freaked out the NFL ownership.

Money talks. Muh principles and muh outrage walk.

I'm going to keep beating this drum. We have to stop letting our addiction to certain types of entertainment drive us to fund our own destruction. We have to build and support parallel structures in social media, television, internet, payment processing and other areas.

I wrote about how I dumped Twitter last week. When I did, I started an Ace of Spades Morons group over on gab.ai. We're up to almost 600 members and I invite you to join us.

Our future as conservatives depends on how we respond to left wing cultural and institutional dominance. Are we going to shrug and say that's just the way it is or at least start taking some small steps toward fighting back?

I like this NFL win. It's encouraging. Let's not stop there.

Oh, and by the way, they're not getting me back to watch, ever. No mercy.

8 Meanwhile over at Legal Insurrection it looks like Amazon has demonetized them. Only a matter of time until the shopping link in the upper right is yanked from here also.

I try to avoid Amazon, use Walmart.com or order direct from the small suppliers that are listed in the "other sellers" column there, but there are a lot you can't order direct from.

9 Am i missing something?

If the players kneel the team gets fined.

The teams will get fined. Not the players.

They are subsidizing the behavior they wish to stop.

When subsidize behavior you get more behavior.

10 I say stop playing the anthem at NFL games. The degenerates don't want to respect it, then playing it degenerates the anthem and drags it into controversy. Stop playing the anthem. They controversy goes away, and your audience is what it is. The anthem doesn't make me want to watch the NFL, but the controversey makes me NOT watch it.

24 I suspect that the protest kneeling will continue as a test to see which NFL owners will pass those fines on to players, and that the players will continue calling their fans bigots. It's a theoretical win, but I am kinda skeptical. We'll see. I'm a pessimist.

And I still want an apology for this BS from the NFL. Even if that happens, the rules still suck and there's too much replay. A return to a ca. 1996 rulebook would help a lot.

There'll still be some kneelers, and I look forward to seeing if the NFL actually has the guts to punish them for it now.

Hard line. Let it play out over a couple of years and even the genuine not-at-Ace morons will figure it out.

185 Football sucks anyway. I only wanted the food and drink.

BTW, the players are going to continue to kneel, and ostentatiously pay the fines. The new policy will amplify their protest. The coming showdown will be delightful to watch.

186 Westy, the Broncos have actually doubled down on that in the off-season. They got rid of Aqib Talib, who never took a knee, and kept Brandon Marshall, who is basically the Grover Dill to Colin Crappernick's Scott Farkus.

They can eat a balls.

Oh, and did you see where the Bowlen family is now trying to get the people of Denver to buy the naming rights to their stadium and call it Mile High Stadium at Pat Bowlen Field? Yeah, they've basically been reduced to begging for free money.

Looks like the backlash has hurt them more than the team is letting on. Good!

199 141 -- Slapweasel -- Do not mention skunks in my vicinity. My two idiots managed to get zapped three times in a matter of weeks. The first hit was straight to #1's chest. And my nose dead husband let her into the house. It was like an atomic bomb of skunk stench exploded in the house. It made me physically ill. Thankfully, the next two episodes were merely halo effect, easily washed out. But we maintain an industrial amount of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda in the pantry at all times.I

Some poor neighborhood pooch already got nailed about a month back. The worst time is the Middle of August on until winter. I think the young 'uns are just starting out on their own, and they shoot first, ask questions later. I can't tell you how much I love getting up at 3am to check the yard for skunks because one of the dogs has decided she must, must, MUST go out.

206 I think the NFL made an extremely weak response, and I can guarantee there will be no NFL football watched in this house this year or many years to come. And since we don't have cable, we can't watch college football, either. And that's okay by me.

I was in the band in high school. We very generously allowed the football team to mess up our beautiful marching field in the fall while we did our own thing up in the stands. That's about as much football as I ever want to see.

Posted by: Deplorable Lady with Only Two Deplorable Cats at May 23, 2018 10:14 PM (0VO66)

207 The Broncos have claimed that their profits are only down by 0.4%, but seeing as how the family that owns them is now scrambling for anything to make a buck, I don't believe those numbers.

They're now looking to sell off half of the stadium's parking space for development. Apartments and restaurants. I look forward to nearby residents complaining that their streets are are clogged with game attendees' cars because there's not enough parking at the stadium, and clashing with the city which will not want to have those cars towed.

Of course the city will tow those cars. There's a lot of graft in the towing racket.

210 I don't think it'll be quite that simple, AOP. Too many people getting their cars towed while attending Broncos games will make Denver's city government and the Broncos look bad.

I think the city will choose to inconvenience local residents rather than suffer that.

I just went over to gab to register and the first thing I saw was several definitely antisemitic posts, not to mention someone called Granpa Lampshade using the n-word as well as being antisemitic. 213 So sorry. Too little, too late. It's not that I'm boycotting or even annoyed anymore. It's worse, I simply no longer care about what is on in the nfl. You can't disrespect the country and expect my support. So I found something better to do with my time.

215 According to the NFL's release, it's the team that gets fined if the player comes out but doesn't stand for the anthem. The team then has a choice of whether to fine the player, and it won't surprise me if at least some teams with sympathetic owners let them get away with it.
It's also up to the team what happens to the player if he stays in the locker room. But something tells me that won't happen. No point in a protest if nobody can see you do it.
The big takeaway from this for me is that it's all too late to matter. The protests are only one of at least three likely causes of the NFL's declining audience and revenue, and the other two causes (consumers ditching cable anyway, and the controversy about concussions) have not slowed down or been noticeably addressed at all.
