President Donald J. Trump can't block his critics from following his personal Twitter account, a federal judge ruled. The judge said the comment section of Trump’s personal account, @realDonaldTrump, is a public forum and that blocking users on the basis of political speech is a violation of their free-speech rights under the First Amendment.I'm pretty sure that Democrat officials have me blocked-- Senators like Claire McCaskill -- so, will this judge demand they hear my criticisms? The judge declined to issue an order because she has no power to order an Article II executive to do anything. I hope Trump simply ignores her. Update:

Oh, so much potential here. Just off the top of my head:
1) Newspapers that publish online, being public and run by public figures and nominally in the public interest (per how they're regulated), *must* have unmoderated comments sections. 2) Twitter, being a public forum, cannot ban anyone for speech alone, nor can they shadowban. 3) Twitter, being a public forum, must not manipulate "trending" hashtags and topics. 3) Congressmen must diligently check voicemail or add voicemail capacity. A full inbox is no excuse for closing out that particular "public forum." 4) No other elected or appointed-and-confirmed individual may block anyone from their Twitter feeds. I look to the horde for more. Opportunity to turn this into a major blow against the speech controllers, should it stand? Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at May 23, 2018 02:51 PM (I2dne) 54

So, this means that since Twitter is a public utility, it must apply to state regulators for all and any changes, and must have it's advertising regulated since that is how it is monetized.
Twitter cannot deny anyone a twitter account and must give everyone three months notice before it suspends them. I'm sure there are tons more regulations they need to abide by, in all 57 states. Did someone file a suit and just won the case? Or did the judge just decide to make this ruling? I'm not sure what limitations are in play here. Let's say I decided to wear a loud shirt and someone in the neighborhood didn't like it and filed suit. Could a judge just issue an order that I can no longer wear my loud shirt because xe and the plaintiff agreed that they didn't like me? What exactly are the limitations on what a judge can rule? This is starting to get silly.

This shit started with Obama and his brownshirt OFA Marxists. They would go to every Tea Party event, space themselves out in the crowd and begin screaming, shouting , jumping up and down to where the crowd would try to move away from them so they could hear the speaker. And they would keep it up, hoping someone would dare punch one of them so they could get on TV and subsequently have the person arrested and then sued for assault. designated public forum is proscribed by the First Amendment and cannot be justified by the President's personal First Amendment interests. ===== Does that apply to death threats -- like the US Mail? Posted by: mustbequantum at May 23, 2018 03:18 PM (MIKMs) 305
The judge said the comment section of Trump's personal account, @realDonaldTrump, is a public forum and that blocking users on the basis of political speech is a violation of their free-speech rights under the First Amendment.
So if it is a public forum, and censorship violates free speech rights under the first amendment, then it follows that Twitter cannot censor speech based on political views for the same reason. This is a massive "own goal" for the Left.
They could have just gone with the excuse that blocking people prevented their 1st Amendment right to petition for a redress of grievances, but this sets the ground work to go further and could apply to all public personages... meaning that potential no blue check mark individual can block anyone. But the really big deal is that Twitter is a "public forum" where one has "1st Amendment rights" to speech including "political speech". Presumably this can be applied to other similar Internet "public forums" such as Facebook and Youtube. If used strategically, these companies can be forced to not only allow, but not even discriminate based on one's politics, which is in stark contrast to their dishonest manipulation of information. This is nonsense. Yes, the official POTUS account, I can understand this ruling. But, for a personal account, this judge is 100% incorrect. She is circumventing the policy of a private business that is exercising First Amendment rights of the user.
Wouldn't this same ruling require the Editorial board of every single newspaper to accept and print every single letter to the editor? As it is now, they pick and choose those that represent their agenda. Since the NYT's accepts editorials from the likes of James Comey and Bill Clinton, wouldn't they now be obligated to accept my own personal entry as a guest Op-ed? And finally, is the judge saying that no one can block anyone? That sure seems to be the case. She states that the decision wasn't based on Trump being the president. It was based on it being a public forum. So either Twitter is a "public" forum and no one can block anyone, or it's a private forum and this judge has not standing to set policy on a private business. Which is it? just tracked down a story from the spectator, "is MBS (crown prince of Saudi, big reformer) Dead?" After going through the reasons, at the end there is an update with a recent picture of him sent out by his press officer, so it looks like he's alive. Either that or they are doing a heck of a job covering it up.
But the most fascinating thing was a cell phone video outside the royal compound in Riyadh, in late April, and it's easy to hear a lot of automatic weapons fire from inside the compound. And the Saudi's explanation is "oh someone flew a drone too close and we overreacted." Yeah. I don't think anyone buys that explanation, but it has created a big mystery. What actually happened, who was shooting? It's as if someone on the street at 3 am heard multiple weapons firing inside the White House. and the next day they said "oh it was nothing, we were shooting at a squirrel." MBS (crown prince of Saudi, big reformer) Dead?" After going through the reasons, at the end there is an update with a recent picture of him sent out by his press officer, so it looks like he's alive.
It's as if someone on the street at 3 am heard multiple weapons firing inside the White House. and the next day they said "oh it was nothing, we were shooting at a squirrel." Posted by: Tom Servo at May when news of the shooting outside the palace first broke it was speculated it was green on green, but that went away within hours and the drone story was released. no one has said much if anything since.
