Did the FBI Trump Squad Discuss The Dossier with CNN?

These emails were sent shortly after the Dossier Briefing, which supposedly was for the purposes of informing Trump about the "salacious and unverified" allegations in the dossier but which had actually been engineered in order to give CNN the "news hook" CNN told Brennan, Clapper, or whoever they needed to run the story.

Two days after the briefing, on January 8, 2017, former FBI deputy director Andrew McCabe, who earlier this year was fired and then referred for criminal prosecution by the DOJ inspector general for repeatedly lying about media leaks, wrote an e-mail to top FBI officials with the subject, "Flood is coming."
"CNN is close to going forward with the sensitive story," McCabe wrote to Comey, Rybicki, and two others. "The trigger for them is they know the material was discussed in the brief and presented in an attachment." He did not detail how he came to know what CNN’s "trigger" was for publishing the dossier briefing story.
Although the January 10 story from CNN also claimed that Trump was presented with a two-page summary of the dossier, which was not part of the official intelligence community assessment given to Trump, Comey himself later claimed that he did not give the two-page document to Trump, raising questions about whether McCabe himself was a source for CNN’s assertion that Trump had been given the entire two-page document during the briefing.

John Sexton of Hot Air emphasizes the #FakeNews about Trump being given a two-page summary of the dossier even more.

Remember, Comey says he never gave Trump any summary. In fact, he barely even briefed him on the dossier at all -- he only mentioned the "salacious" parts about the prostitutes, not any of the other stuff. He didn't even tell Trump that there was a "dossier." Just that there were reports.

That background established:

The big takeaway here is that two days after the briefing took place, someone had leaked word of it to CNN. Not only that but Andrew McCabe knew word of the briefing had leaked and that CNN was about to publish. It doesn't appear from the description of his emails that he was a) surprised or b) concerned about the leak so soon after the briefing. So far as we know, no one at the FBI was pounding a desk demanding to know who gave CNN exactly what it was looking for.
CNN would publish a story two days later and that story would still contain the inaccurate claim that Trump was presented with a two-page summary of the dossier during the briefing. According to Comey, that never happened, but someone told CNN it had. It's probably not a coincidence that the claim that a summary was handed to the President-elect, though not true, seems designed to give CNN the news hook it needed.

69 Wow, I remember when Judicial Watch released the 29 pages of emails from the FBI about the Lynch-Clinton tarmac meeting. And in those emails no one questioned the appearance of the meeting, but it was chock full of wanting to find out who leaked the meeting and contacted Phoenix police about it . I just don't get that same sense of urgency this time from these emails. It's almost like the top brass has two sets of standards depending on the party involved. I must be crazy.

In people's time, that means about 6 months to a year to prepare the indictment, then a year to fight about change of venue and motions to dismiss, etc, and then a year for jury selection, and don't forget 1 or 2 judges will recuse themselves and then we start over, and then a trial, and then at least 2 years of appeals, maybe three.

So to answer your question, how long will it take? Best case, 5, 6, maybe 7 years. 9 years tops, promise.

That's my take.
(1) CNN had the info, but needed an intro to get it out, something plausible to make it difficult to say where the leak originated.
(2) CNN was told by (McCabe? Comey?) that Comey will tell Trump, this is the outline we want you to say.
(3) CNN is told that when the "Go" signal is given they publish.
(4) CNN does, but there are some discrepancies between what CNN reports and what Comey told Trump, thus, the leak was prior to the meeting, not after. CNN, after all only had an outline of what was to be, not an exact recounting of what had happened.
(5) And thus the Mueller investigation was launched which turned out to be a terrible mistake for the conspirators because it ended up just exposing them and everything they did.

My speculation.

Oh no, you just have to bring charges before the SoL runs out. Once charges are brought, then the Trial and all of the permutations can run on almost forever. That's how today's legal system "works".

And you may think I'm kidding, but I'm not. Remember when Tom Delay was strung up on campaign finance charges? Took him 9 years of trials and hearings and appeals and not working on anything but that before the top Texas Court of Appeals finally said "oh those charges aren't valid, they don't actually exist, they should never have been brought, and everything is dismissed."

Good result - but it took 9 solid years, a completely ruined career, and who knows how many millions of dollars of legal expenses to finally get to that obvious point. Rick Perry was lucky (and had more help) is that it only took him 2 1/2 years to get to exoneration when it was his turn.
