Does Brian Stelter even listen to himself talk? The same man who compared Donald Trump to "authoritarian" "strongmen" is now "offended by the idea that top White House aide Kellyanne Conway sees the CNN journalist as an anti-Trump Democrat. While talking about Russia on Sunday's Reliable Sources, Conway referred to "people on your side of the aisle." Stelter huffed, "I'm not on a side of an aisle. That's an offensive remark." Conway pounced: "Well, tell America. Did you vote for Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? How did your wife vote? Tell America."The media wants to lie to your face about fundamental things and then demand that you believe everything they say. Hello, they lied. That's Our Tater! Tater's too stupid to be any good at lying. Also, I heard that there might be some news broken on Tucker Carlson's show tonight. Eh, it looks like he's just debating a Democrat who claims he has "proof" of collusion. Seems like theater, but not news. Why is there no anger over the content of the hacked DNC emails? Three key points as to what those emails revealed: 1. They rigged the primaries against Bernie. 2. A CNN employee gave Hillary questions to the debate vs. Trump. 3. (And this is the one that really bothers me) The encouragement to use violence and disruptive tactics against Trump supporters at Trump rallies. We have violence, we have cheating. These actually happened. They're not fairy tales, or hearsay against a foreign party. These were Americans attempting to subvert an election. Where the hell is the screaming? Mike I can't answer the question, but I can second your amazement and anger that the outrages revealed in the emails - not an iota of which, AFAIK, has ever been contradicted or denied - were a nothingburger to the "press" and (essentially) the country.
Then again, for perspective, recall that after the Chicago Trump event disruption, even Sen. Cruz went stupid and tried to demagogue it as Trump's fault. And we have the almost completely off-base and ludicrous reactions to C'ville, including the jaw-dropper of a senator (little Marco) *in writing* saying that some views don't deserve 1A protections. WTF? The civic culture, if not mostly collapsed, is pretty sick. Posted by: rhomboid at May 21, 2018 08:40 PM (QDnY+) Posted by: Anon a mouse at May 21, 2018 08:40 PM (7LY+6) 230

Palp, predictions are hard, especially about the future (hat tip: Yogi), but I don't think so (that the coming festivities will result in a restoration of some civic cultural strength and knowledge). More likely - temporary (mild) electoral weakness for one side, followed by a return to alternating electoral runs for both sides, with the racist authoritarians more racist, and more authoritarian, than they already are (we can even see this now).

Okay. If the Democrats want to subvert the will of their voters and choose the favorite of the party elites, that's not illegal. Fine.
The encouragement of violence? That happened - many times at Trump rallies, by outside agitators. Trump had to cancel a fund raiser in Chicago because of security concerns. Now, imagine the outcry--the Congressional investigations, the media uproar--if a security threat stopped a Hillary fundraiser? The Left has stopped debating, stopped trying to use persuasion. They're using violence. I fear 2016 was just a preview. Posted by: Mike at May 21, 2018 08:48 PM (c056A) 291

Mike - actually I think besides the internal FEC violations that may have occurred (not sure if criminal or civil violations), amusingly enough, one violation that looks pretty damn certain was the DNC/Hillbeast campaign paying Steele, via the Perkins Coie and GPS Fusion cut-outs. No-no to pay a foreign entity for campaign activities.
And your unease about the violence - actual, and "atmosphere of" - during the campaign, against Trump events, is fully justified, I think. The multiple, credible stories of local law enforcement (San Jose rally comes to mind) "standing down" when Third World thug intimidation was unleashed on Trump supporters have no precedent in my life-time, that I can remember (maybe something comparable in the ugliest parts of the civil rights struggle - the real one, in the 50s/60s). All this talk of civil upheaval reminds me of how much fun it is shooting the M1 Garand. Something so satisfying about the "boom" - especially when contrasted with the report from those black plastic rifle-like things. At the match yesterday several shooters were musing on what it would be like in WWII facing a squad of US GIs who knew how to use their M1s - the power, and the volume of fire - that could come your way.
Way OT but obligatory: anybody with $700 for the purpose who's always thought they might like an M1, get one from the CMP. They will run out eventually (meaning prices will rise - they'll still be abundant on the private market I'm sure). Easy awe-inspiring shooting, with a piece of industrial art. Mike @8:48... I disagree with the view that it's okay for a political party to take a vote on who its candidate will be, and then reject the results and choose who its officials want, for three reasons...
1. Any regular corporation that took a vote of all its stockholders on an action, and then said, "Screw you, peasants; we'll do what we want," would immediately be sued or indicted for fraud or something like that. 2. The big two political parties occupy a special place in our society. 99.9% of all elected office-holders are members of one or the other of these two organizations. They have an extraordinary level of influence over public policy, so you really can't plead that they're just private clubs. One of these so-called "private clubs", if it wins enough seats, could theoretically strip non-members of some Constitutional rights. 3. The parties benefit greatly from the perception that "the little guy" has a say in their choices and appointments. People who feel like they had their say, even if the party goes a different way, will still contribute. They'll volunteer their time, and they'll donate their hard-earned money. They're still part of something. When the party actively pretends that regular people have a say, while doing what it wants regardless of the will of its rank-and-file members, that is straight-up fraud. Actually, this game had an actual 5 for Fighting, fight. Orpik versus JT Miller. Won't score high on hockeyfights.com, but it was a fight in an elimination game in the playoffs. Other than that, the Capitals are hitting the Lightning so hard, the survivors will pass the bruises to their descendants. But, from your description of events, it sounds like the spirit of Scott Steven is still alive and well. Sounds like I'll be huntin' highlights later. Its no wonder Hillary always claimed "vast right wing conspiracy".. This isn't just projection, it's a defacto admittance to wrong doing. Look at the videos of her goons 100% admitting Hillary knew about "busing people in" (That fuckin jack-off with the bow tie his name escapes me currently..)
It's no wonder that Pelosi was SO confident about Trump not winning; "...take it to the bank.." was her exact phrase I believe. That remark Schumer said about the Intel community "getting back at you" (and for WHAT may I ask? Daring to have the audacity to win an election fair an square? Unlike you criminal fucks?) The throat slash gesture by Bush. All of the screaming teenage girl tweets from a former TOP Intel chief(s).. (Jaw dropping cringe worthy considering these "officials" were once in charge of our safety... JFC..) It goes on and on. The one truly frustrating thing about all of this is the SILENCE coming from rank and file GOP.. Take note you spineless bags of shite, this is no longer your party. The party of "we don't stoop that low" while getting your nuts kicked in is OVER. Pack your shit and GTFO because your time is done. This is now the party of "If you swing at me, you better kill me because when I get up, I'm tying you into a human pretzel. " GOT IT fuckers? Yeah, Farmer, I get it. It's actually a pretty minor surgery, but, yeah, anything can happen. Based on my own experience with this type of surgery, though, I'm confident that J will come out of it just fine.

There are some primary elections coming up in my area. Some seemingly outstanding candidates are on the ballot. But maybe they are colluding with The Russians. I'll just sit this one out.

AOSHQ is an amazing place the horde is remarkable in it's knowledge and damned amazing in their support of their fellow morons. Thank You all for your prayers after my wife had a stroke scare in the ER today. She is fine. All it was was a "complex migraine". These can mimic a TIA or a stroke, She had an MRI of her head that came back ok. Meds and rest have done the job and she is sleeping now. Thank You all for the Prayers. God is good.
