Shoe polish is wax based. Heat is the answer. Try sandwiching the stain between two pieces of expendable cloth, and iron at the highest temp your pants will allow. If all else fails (I just noticed the "liquid" base in your comment), try acetone, available at hardware stores. It's a mighty solvent. Use rubber gloves. It dries out your hands on contact.

Donate them to Catholic Charities, buy new pants.

Posted by: kraken at May 22, 2018 09:44 AM (zSVEm)

99 Trichlorethylene will work but if the pants were dyed cheap then the khaki may fade out then.

There's a bunch of chemicals that can do the job but they're very powerful and will probably undye the khaki plus they're devilishly hard to get ahold of in small lots.

That's why dyeing the pants may be the cheapest easiest solution. (SWIDT)

You could tray a darker shade of khaki dye but the spot will probably show up.

Now that you say that, I did see somewhere to use acetone-based nail polish remover. I guess I can try that. What have I got to lose?

These pants are part of my son's work uniform which was issued to him. That's why I'm trying to hard to salvage them instead of just tossing them or giving them a Viking funeral, which is what I'm tempted to do.

I call them 'Knot Heads' cause of the knot they make on top of their hair.

It's an UGLY LOOK ladies. Men and Women have a responsibility to try and look nice when out in public unless you are working or need to do stuff before you get home from work.

It's like the broken windows theory of law enforcement.

If we all go looking like shlubs who don't give a shit what we look like then we degrade ourselves and degrade our culture.

Try to look civilized please. (and I'm talking to men too. They have some bad habits. Of clothing mostly)

Interesting. I wonder if America has any such active art production today? Not just enclaves, like Brooklyn or Long Beach, but actual commercial efforts to create and market art?

Anyway, Paxton seems to have appreciated women of the red-haired persuasion.

By the way this is a great example of government overreach. Remember when Congress passed a law to deal with cheap dry cleaning. Of course not, they didn't do it. The EPA just took it upon itself to make its own laws.

And according to Diane Feinstein, the EPA is completely independent of not only Congress and the President, but also the DOJ. Its like the 5th branch of government.

my go to cleaner is a combination of dawn and hydrogen peroxide. Put a small amount of dawn in a measuring cup, add enough hydrogen peroxide to turn the mixture clear, then stir (check on a hidden part of the fabric first for color fastness). Apply, rub into the stain, give it five minutes, then put into the washer. Sometimes with difficult stains it takes two or three tries, but so far has always worked for me.

They're not bespoke garments to pass on to your children, but places like Penneys and Belk sell very serviceable button down shirts and slacks for $10-$20 on sale every month. Probably cheaper than many t-shirts and sweatpants.

Spend $150-$200 on decent shoes and the same amount on a couple of nice sport coats and you'll have lots of women complaining to their husbands about why they don't dress that way and lots of men speeding up their work because they're not sure if you're a higher-up or not.

Camo for men gets me. They even make "dress" camo these days, too. Do what you want, but if you're not coming from or headed to the hunt, camo is never the right choice.

Gun shows are the best, though. You can tell people put a lot of thought into their camo wardrobe. To get the attention of other men, mind you.

True, but most women can look good with just a bit of effort. A lot of them won't even make that amount of effort.

Spend $150-$200 on decent shoes and the same amount on a couple of nice sport coats and you'll have lots of women complaining to their husbands about why they don't dress that way and lots of men speeding up their work because they're not sure if you're a higher-up or not.

Cause I am thinking that the severe deviations from the DOJ/FBI SOP in many cases is so stark, that pleading oopsie (negligence) really is not in the mix and they are looking for they higher standard of gross negligence and reckless conduct.

It's like how smiling (even forced) will make you feel better and will cause others to react to you nicer and feel better themselves.

You're right on both counts! I'm certainly no fashion plate, but I do try to look decent when I leave the house (and even when I don't, as an example to my kids). And especially when I am out somewhere with my husband, whether it's a work-related function or just a run to the hardware store.

The funniest thing was that they listed the products used and how long it took to achieve each "look," and the "natural look" took far longer than the obviously made up look!

I wrote down a bunch of "life advice" stuff ala Jordan Peterson, and one of the first things was, "Appearance matters." It really does. How you look says a lot about how you view yourself and other people. It says whether you're sloppy, fastidious, overly casual, or uptight. A poor appearance can be physically uncomfortable for other people to look at. When you are clean, groomed, and dressed well, you send the signal that you respect other people and you want them to focus on your words/ideas.

Really? Holy shite. What's amazing to me is this sort of took on a life of it's own. That hairdo cropped up seemingly quickly.

I don't watch tv so I asked friends if there was some new popular tv actress who wore their hair like that.

Couldn't find anyone who said there was but I think it's being copied as that's the usual way fashions spread through mimicking someone popular in real life.

Hey it never bothered me until I looked around and it seemed that 3/4's of women had their hair like that.

And the way it's mostly done is (to me) kinda unattractive.

I know long hair is a real bitch. I grew mine down to my shoulder blades and it got old real fast having to take care of it.

Maybe it's just my old geezerhood coming out.

Best part is that Brooks Brothers has a "slim fit" polo which is donated constantly (bought by mistake or gifted, I think) and is usually in there with the tags still on. I rake those in along with Vinyard Vines, Lauren and LaCoste. Same with the slacks. My best find was a Louis Vuitton bag for $3.

There's behind the scenes (and strangely not been leaked! That's a tipoff that serious people are involved) activity that is dotting the i's and crossing the t's and waiting for the evidence to be collated and itemized. People have been transferred to lesser responsibilities but kept on to maintain control while they're being deposed. The ones who have retired have no longer any use until the indictments and trials start.

Those hyperventilating the most know what's coming but they have no way out. They're stuck and can only attempt damage control. Patience is in order. Lots of flash and thunder from Mueller but that's because he has nothing else.

418 I love how this has turned into a fashion thread. I suspect this might have been CBD's plan all along!

419 Not working in shorts and a tshirt is dumb to begin with, but it's excessively retarded when it's above 70 degrees.

It won't get below 70 again, even at night, until later October/early November.

The rad mod is to take a crocodile from one LaCoste, and attach it slightly behind and above the croc on another. Really amps up the 'bad boy' vibe that chicks dig.

They are, this is about public appearances.

Now you want us to wear pants in public???

Posted by: rickb223 at May 22, 2018 10:54 AM (GWDdA)

426 90 percent of my wardrobe is from Costco and Sam's. If I find something that fits well and looks good, I'll by it in every color and several in my favorite color. Probably why I look like I'm wearing the same thing all the time...

Posted by: lin-duh @ work at May 22, 2018 10:55 AM (9iLHi)

427 Too tight clothes make you look like a sausage and fat regardless of weight and physical condition. Dresses especially since it's the whole thing. You can get away with tight pants if you're thin enough, if and only if the top isn't tight. Or even a tighter top with some stretch if the pants aren't sausage-like too, but never both.

My #2 son's girlfriend has a flamboyantly gay brother and it has confused her. She thinks my son's clothes are "too big." She bought him a smaller shirt which he promptly split across the back in an attempt to move his arms.

Nothing wrong with that, Lin-duh! If it fits and looks good and you're happy, that makes it really easy.

429 Thanks, everyone. I am worried. I truly hope it is nothing, The words "rectal bleeding" are frightening though.
Speaking of rectums, those who worked under John Brennan don't seem unhappy to see him in hot water. A CIA operative, Bryan Dean Wright, who describes himself as "center-left" says Brennan has the "operational mind of an earthworm" and says "your day of judgment is coming."

432 I've been going through my closet and weeding out the clothes which are so big on me they look like clown clothes now. I've always hung on to the "fat clothes" "just in case" but that is rather counterproductive. It's keeping the idea in your head that your diet and exercise plans will fail and you'll go back to being fat. So off to Goodwill with them. How good it feels to free up a lot of closet space.

433 Crisis! Homo shortage in Hollywood!

The number of Hollywood films featuring LGBTQ characters plummeted nearly 40 percent in 2017 compared to the year prior, an annual survey of the major movie studios by GLAAD said on Tuesday.

The group found that just 14 wide releases from the majors, as well as offerings from their indie divisions, were inclusive of queer identities in 2017, a drop from 23 films in 2016.

Only 12.8 percent of studio films contained characters who identified as lesbian, gay, bisexual or queer - the lowest percentage of LGBTQ-inclusive major studio releases since GLAAD began tracking in 2012.

441 If you're not complaining your're not paying attention.

It seems there are a lot of people who enjoy watching this multi-act production of The Aristocrats.

I and other expect, you know, results.

And what have we so far..

- 3 firings (Comey, Yates, McCabe)
- perhaps a dozen transfers/demotions.
- 2 resignations
- 1 wet fart of an IG report that looks like it's going nowhere.

And that's it.

Now we have anther IG report dealing with the Hillary non-investigation and unless the report details something more than code or policy violations and suggests prosecutions then that will be a huge wet fart as well.

And we are not even talking about an IG report of the rolling coup we are witnessing in real-time.

And now we have Rosenstein asking the IG to investigate the FBI/DOJ role in spying on Trump.

This fucking multi-act production of The Aristocrats is going to be rolling on for the foreseeable future with no end in site.
