Total Speculation: It occurs to me that a possiblity here is that that Halper was hired by Jeb Bush, given that he used to run political spying ops for George Bush, Sr. If true, this could explain the varying claims about "Republicans starting the dossier." No, Republicans didn't start the dossier per se in this hypothetical scenario, but Jeb Bush's man in London Stephan Halper began the spying operation and would have served as one of the first sources to Christopher Steele.
Days after Carter Page's high-profile trip to Moscow in July 2016, the Trump campaign adviser had his first encounter with Stefan Halper, a University of Cambridge professor with CIA and MI6 contacts. The conversation seemed innocent enough, Page tells The Daily Caller News Foundation. He recalls nothing of substance being discussed other than Halper's passing mention that he knew then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort. But the interaction was one of many that the pair would have over the next 14 months, through a period of time when Page was under the watchful eye of the U.S. government. ... Page's encounters with Halper were quite different from those that another Trump campaign adviser had during the campaign with the 73-year-old academic. As TheDCNF reported exclusively in March, Halper and George Papadopoulos met several times over a period of a few days in Sept. 2016. Several days earlier, Halper contacted and met with a third Trump campaign official. That official, who has requested anonymity, told TheDCNF that Halper expressed interest in helping the campaign. Unlike with Page, Halper's relationship with Papadopoulos was ostensibly more of a business arrangement than a fledgling friendship. ... Papadopoulos and Halper met several times during that stay, having dinner one night at the Travellers Club, an Old London gentleman's club frequented by international diplomats. They were accompanied by Halper’s assistant, a Turkish woman named Azra Turk. Sources familiar with Papadopoulos's claims about his trip say Turk flirted with him during their encounters and later on in email exchanges.
Papadopoulos wrote the paper and delivered it in early October. He was paid $3,000 for the work. Days before making that payment, Halper had finalized a contract with the Office of Net Assessment, the Pentagon's think tank. Federal records show that Halper has been paid $928,800 since 2012 for work on four policy projects for the Pentagon.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Old spooks become mercenaries. They have connections, of course, to their old employer, but the organization does not necessarily know what they're up to. Someone might here and there -- I suspect these guys all help each other because they know at the end of their official careers they'll be mercenaries as well -- but that doesn't require the organizations themselves to be involved.

By my estimation approximately three dozen people in the Obama adminsitration, FBI, DOJ, State, DHS, 5 eyes, contractors, et al need to have their necks stretched for this attempted American Coup D'etat.

The bottom line is that the scales of justice are never going to be righted when all is said and done.
This shit is all a multi-act production of The Aristocrats and nothing more.
And if the Donks gain the House, the Senate or G-d forbid both, well Katy bar the door because this shit show will get even worse.

I got a voicemail wherein I could only understand about every fourth word and our dictation software made a word salad of the message. I'm lucky I was able to make out the patient's last name and the return telephone number.
I did call back and the other non-native English speaker couldn't help me with the scant info I had. OH WELL. I guess they'll call back if they really, really, really need the information.

The fun part would be assigning villains to cards. Which pathetic losers would be Twos? Would they comfort themselves with the thought that at least they 'made the cut'?
Best of all for making lefty heads explode: the topmost villain must obviously have the highest-ranked card, which makes Barak Obama the Ace of Spades (no allusion to this fine site intended). (I would avoid making all the other black villains Spades: that would be a joke too far.) Hillary would be the Ace of Hearts (eeeeuw!). Not sure who the other Aces would be: there are so many. Making a mincing ponce like Comey a Queen would be appropriate (that's about how important he is) and mean (which is a good thing in this case).
As for the Jokers: one or both could be grinning Trumps. Or maybe one Trump and one IG Horowitz, or . . . too bad there's only two Jokers in a deck. Probably two Trumps would be best. That way his face comes up twice as often.
The other problem is that we're not entirely sure who are villains right now: should Mueller get a card? Probably. Sessions? Maybe. And so on.

I see no reason to doubt that he was born in America, but I noticed as well that he has gone to some trouble to make sure that any personal information - family, birthplace, etc - has been carefully scrubbed from the web. However, I suspect that is true for all of those who have extensive CIA and MI6 connections. The sources do all note that he graduated from Stanford University in 1967, when he would have been 23 years old.
He became the Director of George H W Bush's Presidential campaign in 1979 - how did they get to know each other so well? Recall that GHW Bush was head of the CIA from 1976 - 1977. So he is absolutely a long time part of the Bush Machine.

It is very weird. I doubt it's related to his being a dual-spy, though. I think it has more to do with his dual nationality and the origins of that circumstance. I think it's pretty clear that he wasn't born an American and just decide to become a Brit later. I don't know that, of course, but it sounds very odd that anything like that would happen. He might have had a Brit parent and was born here or, much more likely, had an American parent and was born there, or even more likely than that was born a Brit and became a naturalized American - in which case his retention of his Brit subject status is a violation of his oath of renunciation and allegiance.
It's all very odd, though.
The sources do all note that he graduated from Stanford University in 1967, when he would have been 23 years old.
