Yes, older word as the intertubes tell you.

In the original version of silent night it goes "holder Knabe mit lockigem Haar" (lovely boy with curly hair).

Knabe comes from the same root as Knave, though the meanings have wandered apart.

Bube is also an antiquated word for boy, which wandered into several Yiddish versions and somehow found its way to hillbilly Bubba.

88 Anker is a wonderful artist in the same vein as the Scandi painters like Carlsson. Delightful, pleasant scenes, plenty of small details that in the end emphasize the people, vibrant colors without being garrish. No wonder these artists were so popular in their time and continue to be.

Anker also was known for his still life works. The two shown on his Wiki page are damn near photographic in their accuracy. What elevates these still life paintings is the eye catching use of light and enhanced hues that take them beyond a photo into ideal.

Thanks,CBD. I want to know more about this artist.

Even if Ivanka knew about what was going on in Gaza, why shouldn't she smile? If those "protesters" were located so as to be able to breach the Jerusalem ceremony, they'd kill her. Why not rejoice that terrorists who want to kill you had been annihilated?

275 Bringing this over because I just saw it and want to comment.

Once the Left/Liberal/Prog/Dem filters are installed into their psyches, they become unable to perceive or process any facts/data that contradict the Party line.

It's not mere cognitive dissonance, it's not denial, it's an inability to even absorb in any fashion what is presented.

Posted by: Mike Hammer, etc., etc. at May 15, 2018 08:56 AM (58eZn)

I agree with this. Based on my observation of my kids peers these filters are pretty much installed by the time the kids get out of *middle school*. And they "take" most strongly in the 'good' and 'smart' kids who, by their nature, want to please the authority figures. These kids are then encouraged to see themselves as the natural and destined leaders.

The first crop are now the SJWs in college and it's unlikely to get better unless the system is broken. Even then there will be many permanently mentally and emotionally damaged people who don't know how to deal peacefully with not having the world as it was promised to them.

I just find the whole concept ludicrous, all the electric cars do is put another remove from itself and fossil fuels. These vehicles are charged on electricity generated either in gas or coal power stations. Solar wind power is minimal and hard to store, while the liquid or gas fuel is quick to refill and easy to move to any location and store.

We are devolving rather than evolving. The least economic power generation is wind power. If it was so wonderful Netherlands would still be using it, that they don't is a testament to its unreliability.

I doubt we'll see any great leaps anytime soon, but we are making progress. The numbers I've seen is that we're improving batteries at a steady 5-7% per year.

No. No. I fucked up that post if you think that. Let me take another shot at it.

My Opinion ... YOU have a RESPONSIBILITY to Indoctrinate your kids, to some degree. Because Kids ain't smart enough to think all the time. That's why we lie to them - because they're not smart enough to use the truth.

What degree ? How far do you go ? No idea - but if we all do it for our own, I would assume some diversity would develop protecting the "Herd of Kids", as a whole. And we would be free to copy each other's successful Indoctrination Practices as we see fit - based upon results.

But when Government Indoctrinates ? I don't trust that at all - because Success Defined as Control of Government is no success at all, in my book. Hell - they're the worst of the worst.

And that goes for when Government Indoctrinates according to Religion too ... because I don't trust those fuckers. If they do it - it's wrong. And History shows I'm right in my suspicions.

But you - for your kids ? Please - Indoctrinate Away. You owe it to 'em.

No, the rate of improvement will plateau, and become a curve that approaches, but never meets, the theoretical maximum efficiency. I doubt they will ever get close to petroleum fuel in energy density. Remember, the petroleum-fueled car gets its oxidizer free, from the air, and doesn't have to carry it along. A battery carries its "fuel" and "oxidizer" both within its case.

It's like I've said about Orwell. When he thought of the idea of "thoughtcrime" it was probably surreal enough that thought could be a crime, he didn't know that people would be conditioned to believe that people who speak as crime way are revealing the most heinous of souls, and so would have a deep emotional interest in expelling the "hateful" from them.

The idea that a restaurant-full of people supposed to be doing their jobs could not resist clustering around and harassing a black man in a MAGA hat can only be explained by aberrant psychology.

That's what it's all about any way. I used to think it was "easy virtue", but even that can be subsumed under my current theory: "self-flattery".

They aren't "fascists" because "fascism" is not a good label to wear. They are "compassionate", because in the amount that they care, and the instances that they care, they care. You're mean if you point out instances where they don't care--because they have their reasons--all, justified, and you begin a long game of tu quoque, when the original claim is that they have a care-advantage on you.
