82 The style could best be termed "Naive Platonic Botany". In a way, the figures are somewhat abstract: the bark a mere homogenous coating on a cylindrical trunk, the small herbs growing out of place on the irregular pavement. Even where the individual portraits are given more attention (e.g. the laurel crown, larch trees, the clusters of anonymous olives) they are really representations signifying something greater.

Re: all the tips on Colonial era stuff in NYC. I like all the tips (native NYr here - also a history buff). To add to it - Bowling
Green is nice to take in as the park there is where King George's Statue
was torn down (to melt into musket balls and stuff!). Start with a stroll past Nathan Hale's statue next to
City Hall and see City Hall Park, walk down Broadway to Trinity Church and
pay respects to Alexander Hamilton's remains ( and see the church, it's
nice) make a brief side trip to see where Washington was sworn in on
Wall Street and then stroll past Bowling green and make a right to see
Castle Clinton. Finish up with a trip on the Staten Island Ferry (It's
free!) to see the Harbor and the Statue of Liberty (if the Staten Island
Yankees are playing you c an even take in a ball game right on the
other side with Manhattan as a backdrop! WITHOUT paying an arm and a
leg). after the return trip - get off the Ferry and walk up to Fraunces
Tavern and have a beer where Washington said farewell to his officers,
aides and adjutants.Another nice trip is to pop
uptown to the Grange - Alexander Hamilton's residence (141st street on
the West Side). And for other History afficianados - Teddy Roosevelt's (you know, the good Roosevelt)
birthplace is also up on the east side - in the 20s

Why do so many people hate Israel/Jews with such a passion. I just don't get it? By all lefty standards they should be a SJW fave cause of their perennial status as bigots scapegoat-punching bag.

It's funny how they don't see themselves as kindred spirits to white supremacists who hate Jews too.

216 The anti-colonialists (think Obama) hate Israel because they consider it a colony and "anti-brown people."

If anyone thinks that Obama was unaffected by the Rev socialist Wright and Calypso Louie, he was not.

There is a school of thought that imagines the "joos" stirring up the race issues with blacks to further socialism/themselves and then the blacks noticing they were being used. My guess is that the cash started flowing into the left from the islamists, that Europe replaced its population with islamists as part of the anti-western socialist decline, and that jews have been associated with "banks" ie capitalism since forever.

If you view the left through the lens of a desire to bring down western civilization as its primary goal, the hatred of Israel makes sense. Otherwise, it does not.

Oh, it's a hold over from pre-communism / modern day leftism days.

The European aristocracy never liked the Ashkenazim for various reasons, but mainly for the professed ones -- the Ashkenazi often spoke a different language, were education focused in their own families and thus were often upper middle class, they largely didn't assimilate and of course, some cultures were offended by the Ashkenazi culture, especially the humor and lack of deference.

tl;dr -- Jews have been unpopular in Europe since the Ashkenazi first showed up in Europe however many thousands of years ago.

That was mostly to do with the mistaken confusion about "usury." Usury is the application of unfair interest but, in the middle ages any interest was considered "usury." However, since the jews were the only ones lending money a high interest rate to the King--who was a great risk---wasn't out of bounds. People tend to hate those they owe. Even in our own tradition we have westerns where the evil bank forecloses on the poor widow for non-payment, although it's just really a business transaction. It goes back to expecting money for nothing. My millennial is outraged by the interest on his car loan. I keep trying to explain to him how you BUY the use of money when you want it, it's not a give-a-way.

It's not depicting the Jordan, per se. It's the river flowing from Jesus.

It's very interesting to read John 4 (springs of living water) knowing that he's sitting at the well Jacob dug (the third one--the first two were stolen from him) and Jeremiah (2:13) which refers also to living water and the digging of broken wells.

290 Not easy to immerse in water that shallow.

Hard to reconcile "came up out of the water" with this depiction here.

Not necessarily. I'm standing in a shallow stream. I climb up on the shore. I came up out of the water. (Of course, how many potentially distorting translation layers are we dealing with here?)

What we know: He got in. He got wet. He got out.

I always liked how and why John hesitated. And that Jesus said, gotta do this for full righteousness, cousin.

Theology means nothing to me ... I'm operating on the Would I Want You As A Neighbor Policy.

Mitt Romney is not one of them - and has not been for some time. Mitt seems like the type more than happy to fuck you over ... as long as its legal.

293 Day 15:
We've been diverted to Hati, which the floppy one assures us is Not a Shithole.

The lower decks ARE shitholes because the Conservatives United Captain by Kristol Seaman (CUCKS) have decided that cleaning is beneath them so when a toilet clogs, it stays clogged.

And it's happening more and more often because the only "food" left are bags of Kaboom cereal and sugar free gummy bears. This evenings #resistance#resistance meeting will be a struggle.

Day: 21
No one has seen the Men in days except one poor soul who kicked down a door and ran screaming down the hall. Just before he threw himself overboard he screeched "Never consent to the Washington Consensus "

He landed right in the propeller and became man-chum. Which we fear the floppy one is doing to the other men. But sexually.

Now the propeller has stoped and sharks are circling the blood soaked water. Jonah Goldberg came out and assured us that "The greatest technical Conservative minds in the world are fixing the engine with help from our friends in the Hatian Navy"

We're doomed.

most likely evolved from the ritual of mikvveh :

"Mikveh or mikvah mikva'ot or (Yiddish) mikves, lit. "a collection") is a bath used for the purpose of ritual immersion in Judaism. In the Hebrew Bible, the word is employed in its broader sense but generally means a collection of water. Several biblical regulations specify that full immersion in water is required to regain ritual purity after ritually impure incidents have occurred."

333 Here is my question about the fence and Gaza. Where is the fence in relation to the border? Is it on the border or is there set back from the border let's say 100 yards?

The reason I ask is because to justify shooting people on the other side of the fence seems to require one of the following, people attacking the fence or the people beyond it or people crossing the border and moving towards the fence. Some of the videos show people walking with the fence in the distance. Now, I know things can be staged. However, unless they had crossed the border, that wouldn't seem to be a just shooting.

There is not a true invocation of the Trinity because the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, according to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, are not the three persons in which subsists the one Godhead, but three gods who form one divinity. One is different from the other, even though they exist in perfect harmony (Joseph F. Smith, ed., Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith Salt Lake City: Desert Book, 1976, p. 372).

The formula does not invoke the Trinity, but invokes 3 gods.

All these D-Bags are always saying The Deal was totes awesome, but nobody ever says what was in the deal that was totes awesome and how it best represented US interests. Its always the broad assertion that it prevents the Iranians from getting nuclear weapons.

OK.

How?

Describe the process and tell me how its enforced and what the sanctions for noncompliance are.

Then show me it's all in place an operating.

This. It's aggravating the way people seem to misunderstand the concept of interest. I started getting interested in economics and investing from an early age so I got it pretty quickly, but it's just not something people think is reasonable, at least until it benefits them. Hence all of those old adages about not loaning money to friends and family- if you want to give your friends and family money, gift it. Never loan it.

But now anyone can go to any of the infinite online betting websites that are about to pop up and gamble.

For anyone with cable, I imagine there are going to be an influx of about a billion 'bet here now free $50 to start!' type commercials in the near future.

Disclaimer: It's possible the decision was not overreaching and just said, 'states can run their own gambling sites' or something to that degree. I've only seen headlines so far.

Posted by: What's a Seawolf? at May 14, 2018 10:58 AM (72PAC)

Thanks Seawolf. My confusion comes from reading a college sports site I frequent and the absolute glee people there are having over this decision. Apparently there are more people with gambling addictions than I was ever aware of.

Here in Michigan, the horse racing industry has been devasted over the past decade by the economy. The state only has one remaining racing track left, and that one is slated to "move" in the next couple of years as it's prime real estate has been purchased to put up, yes, condos.

People are claiming this is going to increase viewership of sports, etc. and I just don't see it.
I'm not going to start gambling or watching any additional football games or racing because I can bet on it from home. The only ones getting rich will be the gambling houses themselves.

I tend to agree. Gambling revenue seems to be the last gasp of a dying town/state etc that has spent itself into oblivion.

In regards to increased viewership though, it's definitely possible. A strong argument can made that much of current sports viewership is fantasy sports related, and gambling is just another step beyond that.

And for the record, no, I never did. The crowd that did was...weird.

Dress like a man, trying to dress like a woman.

Wear a rainbow button, and a BLM button in visible locations.

And don't bathe for a week before doing this.

See what happens.

Then..

Bath, shave and get a nice conservative haircut.

Wear a nice conservative business attire.

Place a "Jesus Saves, Ask me How" button on your jacket.

Put a bible on the table next to your laptop, where you are streaming Billy Graham Crusade videos, with no headphones.

See what happens.

There seems to be a base assumption that 1) states will start doing absolutely crazy stuff, and that 2) the feds are what's holding us from a debauched society.

Besides, age of consent is already purely a state matter.
