The Morning Rant

talking ape.jpg
"Look, I shouldn't have to spell this out, but sometimes kids are born with 6 fingers and toes, or maybe even no arms or legs. Heck, I once knew a guy who had, like, 10 or 12 nipples. No lie. They were all over his back, and some of them were obviously malformed. Big deal. These things happen. But these genetic anomalies are just that: anomalies. It doesn't mean there's some sort of "spectrum" of digitalism, and they're all normal. And it's certainly no reason to organize the Nipple Liberation Front and agitate for special privileges such as you get to take cuts in line and also help yourself to other people's money."

Tom Arnold, Racist:

Tom Arnold insults candaceo.jpg

Couple three things:

1. Candace Owens is black. I'm pretty sure that if a conservative ever told a black woman to "suck racist d*ck", he'd be denounced by the left as a big bad racist.

2. Tom Arnold is so demented that not only does he go around insulting black women, but he thinks Shaun "Talcum X" King is an "actual hero".

3. What has Shaun King ever done that makes him an "actual hero"?

4. Doesn't Tom Arnold know that Shaun King is a white guy pretending to be a black guy?

5. Does Tom Arnold even work any more? Only time I hear about him is when he's yelling at someone on Twitter.

And Speaking of Earf Day:

Who is really responsible for saving the whales?

a) GreenPeace
b) a random assortment of smelly hippie protestors.
c) international "law"
d) John D. Rockefeller

The answer is, of course, (d) John D. Rockefeller:

Whale oil provided the lighting to read the breakthrough novel of 1870, the story of Captain Nemo in 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. That was also the year of the foundation of Standard Oil. The result of that foundation is that we didn’t hunt the whales to extinction, but instead turned to kerosene to light the latter part of the 19th century, moving to electricity only in the 20th.

It really isn’t hyperbole to insist that John D. Rockefeller saved the whales by his making mineral oil products so much cheaper than the cetacean-derived equivalent.

The lesson is obvious:

We need to be as viciously capitalist and free market as we can to save the planet.

88 But these genetic anomalies are just that: anomalies. It doesn't mean there's some sort of "spectrum" of digitalism, and they're all normal.

I used to be active on an anglican forum, and once some assclown, "Zoe Brain" who was an actual rocket scientist would post there in favor of transgenderism. Zoe was a guy, but because of some genetic disorder he grew tits and got the operation, and his wife stayed with him.

His thing was to conflate *genetic* disorders with *psychological* disorders which involved no physical deviations from the sex "assigned" at birth. He did this in the context of inbred Palestinians who were raised female but had non-descended genetalia due to inbreeding. I pointed out to him that he was conflating two separate issues, but he never responded.

The thing is, refute these idiots on whatever forum and they will run away because they have no good answers.

Yeah there are some people whose bodies are so messed up they don't fit into a neat category. And I have no problem with them trying to figure out who they are and what they will live as: they're not plainly one or the other. 149 Those are good ones, but the one that did it to me was years ago Educrats using 'rubric' constantly.

Every discipline and group creates their own vocabulary with words to describe things specific to their interest and work. We have "nood, corgies, rons, ettes, two weeks," etc here.

That much is fine, and even necessary. The problems arise when the words stop being tools and become signals or worse, tricks. Like the middle manager Bill Lumbergh who spouts actualize, cloudify, best-of-breed, B2B, meta-services, and so on. That's not because these words best describe technical aspects or are part of the culture, but because he thinks they make him sound intelligent, important, and that they are powerful.

Academics use words like "intersectionality" and "transgression" not out of necessity to describe or be accurate, but because they are tools to control, dominate, silence, and manipulate people.

193 Too busy to post this morning, but I wanted top make sure this was posted.

After spending two weeks in Washington, DC, I stumbled across this piece of incredible wisdom.

The last thing that Whoa Fat wants is war.

The ABSOLUTE last thing he wants is war, and not because of what the USA will do to him.

It's what his own Generals and Colonels may do to him.

If there is war, he will have to release tons of weapons and vehicles to them in order to defend the country.

That is an impossible situation for him because right now HE controls all of the weapons.

If he releases his weapons to the very men he has oppressed and humiliated and threatened for their entire life, he won't live through the first afternoon of the war.

Stand tough, DJT.

They used to be called Charter, which I can confirm, sucked and sucks still.

They were called "Bright House" down here for years. Some of their web sites still say "BH" somewhere on them.

It took me over a week just to find out how to cancel their cable and find out how much their high-speed Internet service cost.

Then I tried to find a local office to return their hardware. That took two days alone.

Everybody complains about them for good reasons.

Yeah, that's my point. They're turning normal personality and human

there are people who are just different than your average urbanite
hipster. The problem comes when people try to turn everything into a
syndrome.

there are people who are legitimately "trans" but they are anomalities
who for a tiny fraction of the population, not idiots who simply imagine
they're the opposite sex. For instance, there are "XY women" who look
female and have a vagina, but no uterus and internal testes instead of
ovaries. Because they are often tall and narrow-hipped and have long
legs, many become runners - or fashion models.

Posted by: DonnaV at April 23, 2018 11:59 AM (H80UQ)

There was a case I saw on TV where the child had a genetic defect that prevented the hormones that cause proper sexual organ development in a fetus to occur, so this individual, even with XY chromosomes, seemed female, until she was in her late teens and never developed breasts. In the end that individual, when the fact was discovered, decided to stay "female" and took proper hormones to stay that way.

Fenelon, for some reason I imagined your son as much younger than he is (I saw you post his age). With that in mind, though I'd still recommend Haxan as a scary silent and you watch it with him, I don't think it would be quite as startling as it would for a, say, 14-year old or so.

Posted by: Mary Poppins' Practically Perfect Piercing at April 23, 2018 12:07 PM (kqsXK)

353 Yes, I agree with it but there is such a thing as autism and it doesn't mean every different person has it. Most people who have autistc kids have been through a lot of testing to come to that diagnosis.

Well, autistic peoples are very distinctly so, they aren't merely shy or quiet. If we keep defining stuff more and more vaguely and to encompass more and more people, it loses its meaning. And yes, my guess is that its a combination of drug company marketing and teacher's unions wanting to sedate kids into a stupor so they are easier to control and manipulate.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at April 23, 2018 12:07 PM (39g3+)

354 I agree there is a tendency out there to throw out a diagnosis of "autism spectrum" when really it's just a personality trait. It helps drug companies peddle Ritalin, I guess. But it's really not helpful to kids like Fenelon's son, nor to the parents of kids who suffer real autism.

"Kerosene" by name, is a petroleum distillate. Current jet fuel is more or less equivalent to kerosene. "Coal oil", as the name implies, was made by the pyrolysis of coal, and had similar properties, but probably more impurities.
Coal oil was the first to hit the market in a big way, but kerosene soon supplanted it, because it was cheaper to produce.

"Kerosene"
by name, is a petroleum distillate. Current jet fuel is more or less
equivalent to kerosene. "Coal oil", as the name implies, was made by the
pyrolysis of coal, and had similar properties, but probably more
impurities.
Coal oil was the first to hit the market in a big way, but kerosene soon supplanted it, because it was cheaper to produce.

I think I am rather lucky in that my son has had male teachers for 4th, 5th and 6th grades. One was ex-military, which was even better. Were it not for that, I suspect my son would be in jail or worse. Honestly, healthy happy boys are a breed apart, but my son has more challenges and is more than a handful. Were it not for the steadying influence of men in his life, he would be headed for the worst outcome.

Boys are the kids who become men. Women need men for a plethora of reasons, not least of which is that men are NOT women: they curb women's excesses. Trying to feminize men is the equivalent of removing that Jimmy Choo 4" heel pump and taking careful aim, and then pulling the trigger.

Interesting bit of trivia as relates to this. Some of you may remember a famous murder case that happened in L.A. back in the 1940s. It was called the "Black Dalia" murder, where the dismembered body of this young woman was found, and the murderer was never caught.

This was seldom mentioned in most discussions of the case, but the autopsy of the victim revealed that even though nominally female, she really did not have a vagina to speak of. All the "outer parts" were there, but she had almost no internal "tunnel", so to speak. It was a very rare condition.

My great grandmother was a school teacher in Wyoming. She was sent north of Laramie to teach at a tiny little place, but she didn't have enough students to qualify for government funding, so she shanghaied a bunch of cowboys and miners who couldn't read or write and enrolled them along with the kids.

I'm told she was hell on wheels about education, and those cowboys and miners could read, write, and 'rithmetic like maniacs after a year or two.

The problem is not women teachers, per se, but the particular "wokeness" of the women teachers.

I administered the religious ed program at my parish for four years, dealing with volunteer teachers. Many of the women were fine teachers, serious and engaging. A few were flaky as hell and completely untrustworthy, and I ended up having to shadow them constantly to be certain they weren't teaching garbage. I suspect most teaching institutions have the same issues, but nobody to do the shadowing.

I imagine you "crack it, similar to petroleum. You can make nearly everything out of coal you can out of oil, just more expensively and slowly.

Seattle's Gasworks Park was built as a coal-gassification plant to supply methane gas to the area. It's just cheaper now to get it directly from the ground at/near oil deposits.

501 This was seldom mentioned in most discussions of the case, but the autopsy of the victim revealed that even though nominally female, she really did not have a vagina to speak of. All the "outer parts" were there, but she had almost no internal "tunnel", so to speak. It was a very rare condition.

IIRC - and I'm not home to pull out the relevant books on the case - that was a canard put forth by John Gilmore in his Dahlia book, Severed. The full autopsy, so far as I know, has never been released by the LAPD; however, references to it have been made by people who have unofficially seen it and (again, IIRC) make no reference to Short being genitally abnormal at all.

Completely agree. I've always said that my kids' school was so female I ovulate every time I walk through the door. I made sure my boys had extra-curriculars with men and I talked to them honestly about that too. Once I'd given birth to a frat house though, they "got" that school was a land of "others." I also had some very frank talks with some of these teachers and pointed out their biases. Yeah, if you want your project "decorated" then put it on the rubric. Boys are going to "decorate" unless instructed to, it doesn't show a lack of "making it his own," it shows your bias toward girls. Would your husband decorate his work bench? (If so, you have bigger problems.)

552 The Germans also had many "gas trucks" powered by
wood gas - the carbon monoxide, etc. fed to a diesel engine. This has
been an element of some holocaust revisionism...

According to a report from 2011, such wood burning trucks were being utilized in North Korea.

Do an Internet search on the term "gen gas" and you will get a plethora of hits on do-it-yourself gasifiers for vehicles. In the early 1950's some guy was promoting his version of the invention to automotive journalist Tom McCahill (who certainly would be a Moron in good standing, were he alive today), and demonstrated the device by running a Model A Ford on gas generated from a dead cat collected from an alley. Tom remarked something to the effect, that the car ran about as well as one would expect it to run on a dead cat, but run it did.

But why invite the French president? The guy is just going to whine about French businesses wanting to sell sensitive nuclear technology to Iran, forgetting that Iran is going to use the technology to then blow some unlucky city away.

I hate the French and the Germans sales to Iran. Let them sell nuke tech to each other, rather than to the mullahs. And if we have to buy Macron dinner, then send him an Amex gift card and tell him to live it up in Paris.

The French have been interested in involved in the Levant for a long time. They also have been involved in the anti-Assad shenanigans. They also, mostly via the Foreign Legion, are one of the few European countries with military forces they can and will deploy.

I hate the French as much as anyone can but it's useful to have them on our side.

558 Much has been made of the inability of the air campaign to destroy German war production. Many who make the point ignore the additional production Germany would have been capable of without the air campaign and also how so much of German war production that did occur was unable to make it to the fronts.

Reminds me of some historian I once heard. Asked that given that we had Ultra, why didn't the war end sooner, he replied, "It did."

Yeah. They were messing around with really nasty stuff: Unsymmetrical Dimethyl Hydrazine and Red Fuming and White Fuming Nitric Acid (N-Stoff I think?) The upside was that they were hypergolics, which simplified things. The downside: They liquify your lungs and go boom if you let them get too close to each other.

Yep. NEVER be alone with girl. the teacher next door always kept the adjoining door open when I tutored a group of girls, and stopped in often for my protection. Also, the boys have no issues with trying to get you fired for anything. I put my hand out to stop a kids from knocking into me (7th grader) and he said to his buddies "did you see that eh touched me!" here its racism against brown people. I had kids try that crap with me because I was a prick for behavior in the lunchroom. They will report you in a heartbeat to Admin with trumped up charges, and friends will swear to it. I carried the max amount of teacher liability insurance.

...

This is true.

When we studied it in school proof asked the class what the music was, and I knew the name, and then he asked who composed it, and in what work, and what it was about.

We had the Peer Gynt album when I was a kid so I knew all the answers, but it was definitely one of those moments when I would have preferred not to. Whole class thought I was a freak.

But, M remains a great movie, and knowledge of classical music turns out to be a good thing now that I'm almost 29 and don't care very much what other people think anymore.

They had tons of slave labor and built some amazing underground complexes and incredible concrete bunkers. With a few more years, the fortress would have been nearly impenetrable.

The V2 rockets also used pure hydrogen peroxide (not that 3% shit from the drug store) to run their turbine fuel pumps to pump the rocket fuel to the reaction chamber.
There's a theme here: it costs a lot of energy, or money, to make or acquire liquid or gaseous fuels that contain a lot of energy. Hunting whales was dangerous hard work, and the resulting whale oil was scarce and expensive. Oil made from coal is expensive. Oil pumped out of the ground, and refined, is less expensive. Advantage: petroleum.

569 454---Not sure where you get that from. Teaching colleges were almost all women's colleges, to start, and the schoolroom marm was the norm. This is one of the reasons why the education departments are such total shit.
Posted by: ThePrimordialOrderedPair at April 23, 2018 12:27 PM (8gDQu)
--------------------------------------
That actually wasn't the norm until the late 19th century, although it was trending that way in the US by 1850 or so.
It was part and parcel of the public school and compulsory education movement.

IIRC, it was not until WWI that female teachers outnumbered males in grades 4-8 and not until WWII that females outnumbered males in high-school faculty.

The preponderance of females in 1-3 came earlier --- I don't remember when.

573 That was a bonus too, but by that point in the war
they were very short on fuel so were looking for alternatives. Hydrogen
Peroxide they could produce, but it was not cheap or easy to get in any
supplies, and of course, dangerous and hard on the equipment as the
Scotsman says.

Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at April 23, 2018 12:46 PM (39g3+)

No, it was never intended to replace diesel fuel or gasoline. It was used to generate huge power levels for very short periods in engines that were specifically designed to use it. They would have used it for those purposes even if petro fuels had been plentiful. They probably had to burn coal or petro fuel to make the peroxide, after all.
