Mitch McConnell Considering Keeping Senate Open Much Longer During Week to Force Democrats to Either Allow Votes on Trump Nominees, or Spend Most of Campaign Season Filibustering

People I know have been advocating this forever.

Pull the trigger, Mitch.

McConnell this month began threatening Senate Democrats with longer work weeks if they continue to slow-walk the confirmation of President Trump’s nominees. Marc Short, White House point man for legislative affairs, told a small gathering of Republican donors this week that the majority leader plans to use this tactic in the weeks ahead to squeeze Democrats running for re-election in red states.

“McConnell wants to increase the days the Senate is open for business to keep” Democratic Sens. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota, Joe Manchin of West Virginia, Bill Nelson of Florida, and Claire McCaskill of Missouri “tied up from campaigning,” a Republican donor told the Washington Examiner, relaying what Short communicated.

Ten Democrats from Trump states cannot afford keeping filibusters going through weekends. They have to go home to defend seats in peril.

So: If you want to play your games, fine. But now the Senate's open 24 hours seven days a week. How much is it worth it to you to block these people?

A politician is like a whore (no, really). If you pay them enough, they'll do anything, so when they suddenly change their tack and start doing something else, the reason isn't because they just acquired principles, it's because somebody else paid them something more to do something different.

190 Got an email from our kids charter school that a number of teachers and staff, almost half, did not show up today to take part in the walk-out. Haven't been following this and was somewhat surprised. but then, as I'm finding out, the school is run by liberal left SJWs and this past year I see ever more evidence of their agenda they are trying to pass on to the kiddies. How f**ing awesome that their own staff is protesting the boards recent decision on no raises next year. Fight the man! Speak truth to power!

On the other hand there was money for a new Diversity and Equity committee with well paid outside consultants to tell them how to be more inclusive. Would it be wrong to send an anonymous email to all the staff to remind them of that?

That's good of you. Yes, it sounds like he could use a lot of supportive help. The issue with some of the prayer requests is that people check in and may not post again for some time-and you have no idea what's going on with them.

Bull. Shit. If you can't tell a nutria apart from anything else with just a quick glance, give back you education credentials.

Nutria only looks like a capybara if they ARE NOT standing side by side for size comparisons. Beaver have a paddle tail. Nothing else is that big except for possibly a wharf rat.

Most shoveling heart attacks happen directly after re-entering the
home. Physical strain + rapid temperature differential = death.

When you're done, stand around and wait for heart to return to a resting rate.

207 On the other hand there was money for a new Diversity and Equity committee with well paid outside consultants to tell them how to be more inclusive.

I recently found out that government school are being ranked downward for low scores on diversity and "equity." So high schools, for example, that had high rankings for test scores are now being ranked lower because they're including "diversity and equity" scores. This brings down the home values in top ranked schools districts. The schools with low test scores and higher "diversity and equity" scores are being given higher scores. Equity "scores" compare how well "disadvantaged populations" do in comparison to the rest of the school, so if the whole school is a crapfest, the equity "score" goes up. Oh, and "disadvantaged populations" is partially shorthand for "illegal."

The real estate agents are in the know, so can limit the effect somewhat.

Evil doesn't really exist! It's all a health problem!

Sure, there are murderers who are mentally ill, even if not legally insane. I'm sure this nanny is one of them.

But there are plenty who are not mentally ill at all --- unless you choose to expand the term beyond reasonable measure.

Posted by: National Association for the Advancement of La Raza Nutria at April 19, 2018 02:29 PM (0jtPF)

People operate on multiple levels, all the time. Our brains are remarkably capable of multi-tasking, so IF we're going to talk about the concept of evil, and come up with a definition for it, then let's say this. Evil is knowing what you are about to do is unjustifiable, morally, and doing it anyway.

That means the brain that is capable of shutting off the part of it that regulates human behavior, to the point of choosing to do evil over good, that's a defective brain.

The problem people sometimes have, trying to wrap their minds around that as a concept, is that they think we're talking about legality here. We're not. The law is just another human construct, and it operates at a different frequency, separate from morality, and separate from the concepts of mental health/illness.

So there is virtually any act, including murder, that can happen where one is legally sane, morally blameless, and mentally ill, all at the same time. Or switch any of those on or off, interchangeably.

I think Rick Perry also mentioned part time for the do-do heads.
